Jordan & Will are very welcoming & they produce some fantastic food, the ribs & monkfish scampi were amazing. Can’t wait for the upstairs restaurant to be completed. Lovely decor & a warm friendly atmosphere.

Had such a lovely time at the Royal Sovereign last weekend! Such a warm welcome from the staff and they are so passionate about what they do. Really love the decor and vibe too, it’s a breath of fresh air for Bexhill. Looking forward to visiting again soon and recommending to my friends! 👍🏻

What a fantastic addition to Bexhill, we have eaten there a few times now and the food is stunning and the two guys that run it are so talented!! The service is first class and so worth a visit 🎉

Honestly, as someone who eats out a fair bit in Bexhill and st leonards...the food is absolutely delicious. I was blown away with the variety and the quality of the food. This place is now no.1 in Bexhill for food. Amazing!

The jewel in the culinary crown that Bexhill has long been missing! We visited yesterday evening and were absolutely blown away with the delicious food and quality of service! This is an absolute must go to venue and one that we will certainly coming back to again. Bexhill has a good number of eateries but this one is just leaps and bounds ahead of the pack! Parking in the side streets is free after 6pm, or in nearby Eversley Road car park after 7pm.

Under new management/ownership. I took my two daughters (one am quite fussy) this weekend and they both really enjoyed it. And so did I. For me, Bexhill is full of the worst places to eat you can imagine. Lots of restaurants pretending they know what good food is but not really getting it. It’s like being back in the 1980s. And I loved the 80s but not for its culinary scene. The Royal Sovereign now serves small plates, and everything we had was good, such as the flat breads, monk fish, chicken in a basket, bao bun, chips, etc….. it’s all garnished well and nice side sauces. Considering that they are knocking this food out with a single hob, a deep fat fryer, and a table top oven shows they know what they are doing. They are planning to open a restaurant upstairs in the new year. I’ll be going when it opens so sure! Good luck to them.

Called in to see a friend play a gig. Nice friendly staff and a really warm vibe throughout the entire night. Reasonably priced (£5.20 for Bear Island) and weekly music events too. When I'm next in Bexhill with some time I'm likely to call in again. I visited on a Saturday night (8pm+).

Dark but warm pub. Interesting decor and old pub furniture makes it comfortable. Exciting barbecued food cooked in van just outside the back door. Interesting range of drinks. Long walk to gents and the music playing over the PA was a bit wet for my tastes. Seating outside on street for smokers. Dog friendly.

The Royal Sovereign has had a refurb during Lockdown. Trendy dark grey frontage and a new feel. Thank goodness. The old place was a bit scary - American Werewolf territory. Now called The Sovereign, still under the same brewery chain, one would now happily spend time here for a drink or food. They serve Moretti and ciders on draught, which is a really good start. Hoping for a weissbier or two. The kitchen is seven weeks away from ready, so for the time being they have a weekend pop up, The BBQ Project. I quite happily ordered from the concise but appealing menu. There are vegan options. Apart from the fries being slightly under, the food is excellent - chunky meat options, fish finger bun, vegan burgers, Philly steaks, dirty fries and so on. Craft and quality produce - buns from Judges, for instance - and not at all expensive. Not a meal out treat, but well worth the effort to visit at the weekend. Sadly, no desserts. We await the menu for the kitchen proper but I think the management know what is needed for a potentially great location opposite the station. Bexhill badly needs a standout/go to pub and this could easily be it. Great improvement, really friendly staff, nice ambience apart from the smokers outside. Get yourself down there. Ask for Kim - she's a gem and sets the standard for modern pubs. Excellent work by all involved.

We wanted a light meal. I chose crayfish baguette But I requested it as a cocktail with the bread on the side. The barman replied that wasn't possible. I challenged this & asked whyever not? Same ingredients just served a different way. I didn't want all the bread, I wanted the choice to have less bread. Eventually he conceded this might be possible & spoke to the chef who of course could cope with this variation

The Owl is a pretentious disaster with its ridiculous ‘no babies’ policy. Families beware: they’d rather you starve than let your kid coo. Loud drunks? Fine. A baby? Unacceptable. Hypocritical, soulless, and awful. Zero stars.

A famous local pub with a very good reputation for food. I visited in the evening and have to say that the reputation is deserved. Very good gastropub menu, with a decent wine list. Food was piping hot and well cooked. Chips were somewhere between chunky chips and fries, and went down well. Big portions. Service was exemplary. The pub itself is old style and a little dated. It hasn't yet had the usual grey paint gastropub refurb, and it is better for that. Friendly locals were the main audience. Recommended.
