Had to wait over an hour and a half for lunch at 2pm on a Monday and it wasn't worth the wait. We were a large group and the staff confirmed that they could cope with us. However it seemed that they forgot about us/lost our order leading to a long wait.

This review is for the resturant part of the property. The inside has great atmosphere and we were excited to get in during a busy time. Unfortunately that's where we feel it ended for us. The server tried to upsell to us by making it sound like a side was included but instead I ended up with two salads and we had two servings of sides. We understand we might have not understood but it was obviouse to us it was done on purpose. The sandwich we ordered was wrong and when we got the new one it was honestly white bread with dry meat and a small bit of chutney. Very basic. The large amount of fries we did end up with were good though.

Amazing food and really lovely service. Very accommodating and friendly with generous portions. Max was wonderful and we’ve been served by him before and are always happy with his service. Good drinks selection, but wish they had Harvey’s given the area. Thank you for a lovely meal. Well deserving of the best bar award 2024!

Standing just over the road from the stone facade of Battle Abbey, the Abbey Hotel is both at the geographical and social centre of Battle. It doesn't matter if you've been in the town for two hours or twenty years, Rebecca and the team go out of their way to provide a warm welcome. My wife and I came to visit Battle years ago with a view to moving to the town, and they happily sat and chatted with us, telling us all their favourite parts about the town. Since then, they've been friendly faces, keen to hear about the latest developments, from finding a place to live, to going for Sunday lunch, showing friends around, and hosting a drinks part to celebrate the birth of our newborn son. We especially enjoy their delicious platters, which can cater for carnivores and veggies/vegans alike, as well as their delicious desserts and good selection of wines. Any visit to Battle is incomplete without a visit to the Abbey Hotel!

Didn't made to feel welcomed and had to wait a long time for an expensive pint. But looks nice inside.

Had a brilliant night here. The room was great with a view of the abbey, comfy and big beds with nice decor. The staff were really helpful and let us drop bags for a bit while we waited for the room to be ready. Tasty breakfast in the morning to finish it all off. Highly recommend staying here if visiting Battle.

This pub is set in a lovely location of battle.right opposite the castle. What was absolutely dismal.is I had to move seats so a couple and dog could not in my place I was then given a table that had.no space to get in and out off. The menu wasn't to my taste but everyone is different, drink prices were OK. It was very busy and the owner decided to tell his barstaff to work quicker infront of everyone and said he was to busy.the staff were fantastic and even under pressure kept there composure.if ur disabled this isn't really the place for you to come as it's very crammed.

Was in there this afternoon, beautiful bar and the food was great - huge portions and soooo tasty. However, the rudest barman I’ve ever come across, so rude to the other bar staff and waitress. Humiliating them loudly while customers are at the bar. Was totally unnecessary. He was berating them for taking orders wrong while mr perfect gave me a pint even though I ordered a glass. He has put me off from returning.

We stayed here overnight as part of our honeymoon (we were visiting to see the battlefield!) and ended up having one of the best stays of our whole trip. The location is unbeatable, right in the middle of town, the room was lovely and well appointed and the staff were amazing! Incredibly welcoming and fun, keen for a chat and so kind - thank you again for giving us some books once you heard what big tudor history fans we were! Food was delicious and we'd definitely be back.

We just held our wedding reception at the Abbey Hotel and we couldn't recommend them enough. They were the first venue we visited and Kate was so warm and fun that we booked with them straight away! With the help of Kate and the team we had the most wonderful time. Their chef serves delicious food for all meals and we can't wait to go back for an ELF night or Sunday lunch!

Visited for a Cappucino whilst enjoying the outdoors tables and sun. The staff was unfriendly and said they hadn’t table service because they were too busy. So I had to order and pay, and wait to take my beverage to the table. Whilst I saw several waitresses hanging around and also serving other people.

Visited for lunch. Ordered Bangers and Mash and Steak plus some bread. Overall, the food was good, but we waited a long time (it was only us two waiting to be served) and eventually everything came together, starter and mains. Mash was dry on the top and the steak was undercooked, a little downer considering £30 price. Hence, one star less. The bread and aioli however, fantastic. Fresh and tasty, I would definitely order it again. The staff were really nice and welcoming. You could feel a nice local community vibe, which is what I love when visiting places.

Absolutely fantastic hotel and restaurant. I stayed here overnight for work but will definitely be back with my wife for a proper stay! Decor and food are outstanding, the room was beautifully furnished and well stocked for the night and the facilities all felt new and well maintained.Breakfast the following morning was outstanding (possibly the best eggs Benedict I've ever had!). Also; it's two minutes walk from Hastings battlefield! Only sorry that this was such a fleeting visit. We will be back!

Have used this pub for many years.a delightful location.cosy in the winter and a lovely beer garden to enjoy in the summer...used to visit every Friday with my late friend Paul for a few battle beers...the pub has some historic qualities that havnt been overdeveloped to cram more diners in as so many character pubs have been...the food has always been of a high quality.probably on the moderate high pricing but worth it..all round a great family pub

It was very nice and pleasant. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. I've been there 4 times now. Maybe a little bit over price. But it's worth it. Only get what you paid for.

Visited with a group of friends for dinner on a Friday evening. We all enjoyed our food and the drinks selection was good. I had the Battle Burger which was very tasty! Service was a bit slow considering the place was fairly quiet - we had to go and find a member of staff a couple of times as no one had come over

I like the Abbey Hotel. Its a nice place but I do find the staff quite miserable and unwelcoming. I find this every time I go in as I do return but it would be so much better if some customer service training was given on how to greet customers.

A bit hidden behind hedges, easy to miss. Parking is gravel, but firm-ish. Motorcycles could use a foot or pad for side-stand. Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Food good, and prices are acceptable. Tea & coffee lovely. All round a nice dropin Cafe.

Friendly staff, but VERY pricey! It cost £4 for a tiny tub of whelks! (Coke can for scale). The whelks were not particularly nice either. I wont be returning in future.
