We stayed for two nights. The overall service was great. The room was clean and warm. The bed exceeded all expectations. Breakfast was very tasty with vegan options. Staff was very professional and friendly. I am very impressed and happy that we stayed in this hotel.

A fabulous 'old school' style hotel. Fabulous service from checking in to checkout. Food was great. Staff were superb. Grounds of the hotel were beautiful. My room was enormous, probably the largest room I have ever stayed in. Given four stars as certain areas needed tidying, but I would happily stay again.

The PowderMills is a lovely old building with nooks, crannies, interesting rooms and a welcoming open fire. We stayed in a small double which was adequate for our two night stay. The compact bathroom was clean & fresh and the shower worked well. The menu in the Orangery catered for every taste and the food was delicious! High quality ingredients and well presented. Each member of staff we encountered was helpful and professional. We were well looked after.

I paid the Hotel twice. Once online on their website and again upon checking in. The trip was nice but the way they have handled themselves afterwards causes me to warn anyone thinking of staying there.. The duplicate payment, not disputed by them, has not been refunded. I have called the Hotel multiple times and each time I get exactly the same (scripted?) answer "I'm sorry I don't know what's going on". Several times they 'check' and (oddly quickly and clearly just to placate me) say "It was refunded". But it hasn't been. At one point; I was called back by someone who again said the refund had happened, but that they would check and come back to me. They didn't. Fundamentally this Hotel employs the very odd process of taking your payment twice. I accept it was probably a mistake and I wouldn't mind if they took ownership of the issue. My warning to you is - If there is a problem: They won't handle it. They don't care.

The hotel is in a very beautiful location. Unfortunately when we got there, there was a wedding party so there was minimum parking available. We couldn't check in until 3 so were told we could have a drink at the bar and wait until the room was available. We were happy to do as it was a lovely sunny day and they had an outdoor swimming pool. We were asked to move as that area was reserved for the wedding party. Which we did, but then found that the wedding party started to flow into the other section so we no longer felt comfortable sitting in that area. Unfortunately we did not get much sleep because the people in the room above us were arguing and their kids running across the rooms. The whole experience was pretty much ruined as we were looking for a quiet night away to relax which we didn't get.

The best hotel on our tour of England (all about the same price range). Pleasant atmosphere, nice rooms, very clean, sufficient parking, great dinner at reasonable prices.

Visited last week and really enjoyed the hotel. Friendly staff and the room was excellent. If you have dogs it's great too, nice walks around the grounds.

Fantastic accommodation outside Battle near Hastings. Has everything you can imagine in a British manor. Genuine in every detail, there were Wellingtons to borrow, beautiful park with peacock, good food and wonderful staff. We and our dog had a lovely stay!!

💯% recommend powdermills as your wedding venue. The day went perfectly smoothly, Amy was amazing from start to finish of the wedding planning, the day was more than what we ever dreamt off, thank you. The food was incredible and all came out the same time for every table. The venue was beautiful with the lake as our welcome drinks was an ideal location. The accommodation and rooms where immaculate and guests enjoyed their stay and the whole day. Thank you again for a day we will never forget.

I visited this hotel a few times as a young adult. Parents celebrated birthdays and anniversaries. Last visit was my father's birthday. Our first stay at the hotel. It didn't disappoint. Room standard with shower. But I'm worried a bit as the shower is slippery when wet. A non-slip mat should be handy. Maybe a couple more hangers needed to hang clothes. Plenty of drawers however. Plenty of function rooms. Lovely library and a snug by the bar. Remember your swimsuit for the pool Excellent service from breakfast and evening meal. Served in The orangery. Very light and airy.. Very dog friendly as they sat quietly at breakfast with their owners. The hotel was at its busiest on Saturday as we discovered trying to park in the overflow carpark . You are greeted by 2 peacocks George and Charles. Also a lovely warm log fire .

We were expecting something special for the price of the restaurant and the rooms but we were very disappointed. Hotel: One of the rooms we booked had a very strange smell to it - possibly due to the hotel being dog friendly. No toilet brush, no toilet roll holder, nowhere to put the hand towel next to the sink, no curtain over the bathroom window - showering at night with the light on meant having to put a towel over the open window! The bed had a huge bump in the middle (presumably the 2 beds click together) and 2 big person sized holes in either side! Very uncomfortable. Nobody asked us how our stay was. Restaurant: Extremely loud chairs scraping on the floor of the main restaurant - felt on the legs would prevent this easily. Nice atmosphere but music on a loop. Food was fine - duck pate and duck main course were good. Cod cheeks were dry (and too expensive). Pasta dish was far too big - should've been half the size for half the price. Only had one pudding after waiting quite a while for it. Kids meal was fine but chips were too salty - we left the staff know so hopefully this won't be an issue in the future. They also kindly discounted the kids meal due to this. Breakfast: Tasty enough but certainly not 4 star hotel quality. Freshly brewed coffee and alternative milks. They forgot our toast. But they did have take away boxes which was a nice touch. Grounds are lovely and so is the peacock but didn't distract from the disappointing experience as a whole.

Had a 2 night and dinner secret escape bought for us as a present great choice. Lovely character hotel (saw the peacocks) would have explored the grounds but we had lots of rain during our stay. Nice big room with sofa and many charming lounge areas to use. Opted for the steak for diner which was great and done as requested the Merlot was good also. Cooked breakfast was good with options for veggie and vegan as well as the full English which I had. We also visited a local vineyard during our stay.

A bit hidden behind hedges, easy to miss. Parking is gravel, but firm-ish. Motorcycles could use a foot or pad for side-stand. Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. Food good, and prices are acceptable. Tea & coffee lovely. All round a nice dropin Cafe.

Had to wait over an hour and a half for lunch at 2pm on a Monday and it wasn't worth the wait. We were a large group and the staff confirmed that they could cope with us. However it seemed that they forgot about us/lost our order leading to a long wait.

Friendly staff, but VERY pricey! It cost £4 for a tiny tub of whelks! (Coke can for scale). The whelks were not particularly nice either. I wont be returning in future.
