Ten of us went today for a celebratory Birthday lunch. We sat in one of the lovely pods outside which we all loved... nicely decorated for Christmas 🎄We all enjoyed our meals, which included sausage&mash, burgers, risotto and festive turkey. Great service from a young team of staff. We will definitely recommend and return in the New Year !
Whilst the venue was lovely and atmosphere great the food was lacking on this occasion and not up to standard. We were a group of 6 celebrating a birthday and were expecting great things, alas this was not so, some of the dishes on the menu were not available. My crab scotch egg was very small and not worth £10.95 neither were some of the other starters, the seasonal green veg was just a mixture of shredded greens, mostly carrot, the pork dish was accompanied by the same shredded carrot in a small cabbage but that wasn’t explained to me when I ordered the additional veg side dish. The sea bream and lamb were ok but the accompanying veg let the dish down. The coffee machine was apparently broken so no cappuccino
The waitress was very bubbly and efficient and did apologise for the failings. In all not the best experience…..
We are local and have dined here 3 times recently and the food is consistently to a very good pleasing standard. We rocked up on Valentines evening, having forgotten since the morning that it was. we were pleased that it was the standard menu and both really enjoyed our very tasty dinners. The Manager was in fine form being professional, attentive and amusing and the other staff did a good job also.
We had a lovely evening at The Crown with delicious food. We have been a few times recently and each time the food has been excellent.
How nice that it’s not run by a chain but a proper local pub.

Turned up with 3 adults and 4 kids and they sorted us out with hot chocolate suitable for the kids, sweet snacks and hot delicious coffee for the adults. Nice and clean and very friendly service. Excellent.
We visited Oliver’s on Sunday 23rd March for breakfast. I had been twice before and I know it is popular and the food is nice. We arrived when it opened and I ordered eggs Benedict and pancakes with bacon and syrup for my husband. During the breakfast being cooked, I was told they had no more ham for the eggs Benedict. This was about 30 minutes into the morning. I was disappointed as I woke up craving that for breakfast so I thought to swap out the ham for bacon so I could still have it. Unfortunately, the bacon was quite salty and it just wasn’t the same. My husband’s pancakes came out and were smothered in what looked like ice cream sauce, not syrup. The pancakes seemed to be shop bought and he did not enjoy it. It was such a shame as I wanted it to be a nice breakfast and it was my husband’s first time trying Oliver’s after I had raved about it. I left feeling it was a waste of time and money. Will try again another day…
The food here I have generally always thought of as a better quality than any other local Thai restaurants which I accepted the higher prices for. Having spent two years living in Thailand eating only Thai cuisine, and being able to speak some of the language also, I was unfortunately disappointed in the lack of 'dining out' experience we had here. Not even a single candle or a flower at the tables, they were literally bare. No authentic decor or staff uniform etc. There was a portable gas fire in the middle of the restaurant for heating which didn't help the overall ambience; it just felt much more geared up to being a takeaway venue with a few tables for good measure than a lovely restaurant experience. The same food in a different environment would have tasted much better I'm sure!
We were driving through East Grinstead and needed a dog friendly place to eat. CJ's came up and we decided to give it a ago.
The staff, especially the woman behind the bar was so kind and accommodating. We had two dog and a push chair with a 10 month old.
She suggested the perfect table with lots of space and they gave us a booster seat which attaches to the stool, as well as loads of dog treats for our pooches.
We ordered the Club Sandwich and BLT's and were all really happy with our food and drinks.
Would definitely go again.
I always tend to trust a restaurant or cafe when you can see into the food preparation area and watch your meal being prepared. Add good quality ingredients, friendly service and a small but varied menu and you’ve got a great little lunch spot.
