Absolutely shocking service! Ordered milkshake no cream, cappuccino no chocolate cup of tea. And three meals. Two meals show up way before drinks arrived. Went to track down drinks and was told they were waiting on a tea pot to free up. Two drinks finally come. Cream on the milkshake chocolate on the cappuccino!!! Still no tea and still no third meal. Asked where the meal was to be told they don’t sell this item on Sundays which I was not told 45 mins prior. I ate scraps off the other two plates while waiting another 20mins for a bacon toastie by which point I told them to stuff the bloody thing. No tables were cleared. Bugs all over the dirty plates which were left for over 45mins. No condiments or spoons given with hot drinks Abysmal After traveling down from Worthing to have a meal with grandad and skipping breakfast to save room for what was hoped to be a decent meal you can understand my frustration £31 for the worst experience

Great little stop over before arriving at our hotel for departure next day for Egypt, we were just wasting time before check in at hotel, I googled close places and this popped up, a quirky little cafe and bar which would be all lit up at night, we had a sausage sandwich which was delicious and hot drinks, lovely staff with wonderful surroundings and quirky signs plenty of parking a great cafe bar with outside seating with lights

I have waited to review until I had more than one visit. I was recommended Olivers by a friend who visits there. Currently I have only visited for breakfast. On the first visit I just arrived on a Sunday morning and almost every table was reserved 😳. This was a good sign 👍. I have now been there three times, Sunday mornings and I now reserve my table for the following week while I’m there. Every member of staff that I have dealt with has been, polite, efficient and helpful. The golfers breakfast is fantastic. A good amount of food, cooked well and hot. Based on my experiences with breakfast, I would highly recommend Olivers to anyone thinking of going.

Popped in for a late breakfast on a Friday, service/protocols very efficient despite being very busy. I did not make a reservation but was greeted with a smile and only had to wait for a few mins to secure a table. I ordered the cooked breakfast and food was delicious and arrived within 10-15 mins. Will certainly be returning, highly recommend.

Visited for the first time today for breakfast. It was fairly busy. Service was generally good although a little slow to acknowledge our arrival & take our order, but once we had placed our order everything was smooth going. No complaints on the food and coffee was extremely good. Lovely ambiance. Cakes looked yummy so will probably return for afternoon tea.

The staff here were fantastic, food superb. Shame they are seriously let down by whoever determines the number of staff on duty. Would not be surprised if there is a high turnover of staff due to the serious pressure they were under. On our visit it was very busy and clearly not enough staff. Would happily pay a little more if it means more staff. The team felt it necessary to refund much of our bill. This review should really be a five star, due to the team and the food they produced, but feel management need to be held accountable.

Olivers Coffee and Wine is a small restaurant with some good quality food and friendly staff. It is a great place to meet up with if you live locally. I often have food and drinks at Olivers in the late morning/early afternoon so can't say anything about how it runs in the evening but would definitely recommend having a full English. A minor gripe is that during busy periods the lack of staff means hot drinks are sometimes slow to come out but this is rarely an issue.

I'll give it a try one evening, it has events too - comedy shows which will be interesting to see how they are set up. I had an enjoyable light lunch and coffee with my daughter during a recent unexpected mid-week visit to Sussex. I visited around midday. The cafe is conveniently located with (unusually) plenty of parking right outside. Inside the atmosphere is warm and friendly with a mix of diners ranging from the local Mumsnet complete with prams and toddlers, business men and growing-old-disgracefully senior citizens with a dog in tow. The decor reminded me of a ski lodge or sauna but that's not a criticism as it just makes the place feel warm and welcoming. As someone with a heavy-duty cinnamon addiction, seeing the cinnamon latte on the beverage menu was too tempting. Both the food and drink menus were comprehensive and included several vegan options (my daughter prefers a meat-free diet). The brie panini I had was seriously acceptable being prepared from scratch, served hot, of generous proportions, and tasty. Our order was served promptly.

The 'late breakfast' meal I had was just about OK, although the sausage was pretty tough going. The Harvey's beer was well kept and served at just the right temperature. The staff were friendly, but as most were under age they were legally unable to serve me my beer, and I had to wait for the only visible barman to get round to pulling my pint. Nearly 15 minutes after I entered my beer was served, after my food had arrived.

Dont go here if you are in a hurry, unacceptably slow service. Went for breakfast on Sunday, it took 20 mins for the drinks to arrive, 40 mins for the toast to arrive, 50 mins for one breakfast meal to arrive and after an hour i gave up waiting for the second breakfast meal to arrive so got a "partial refund" and left. No warning it would be slow, no real apology, no explanation or proactive customer care. It was highly embarrassing as I had invited special friends for breakfast. Needless to say I wont be going go here again until i hear its under new management.

We took over the venue for the whole of a Saturday evening to enable us to celebrate a couple of events. From the planning to the execution the staff at Oliver's could not have been more helpful. We especially wanted a relaxed vibe with excellent food and wine. Oliver's managed this brilliantly and the 5 members of staff on that night made sure that everything I wanted was delivered. The food was lovely some locally sourced from the butcher in Smallfield, the music playlist was just right and we even had scrolling pictures of family members as a backdrop. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone had a fabulous evening. Huge thanks to Steve and Mandy for making my ramblings into a reality. We will definitely do it again!

I have a few comments about my trip . I have been before and things have been good but today this is not the case. Although the service was friendly I feel the staff do not know the menu well enough to realize when things are missing from the meal. The pancakes had no maple syrup served with them, the breakfast did not have black pudding served with the breakfast and a request to have one of the breakfast items cooked a certain way was ignored. Now although all these things were happily rectified I feel they should not of happened in the first place and is irritating when you are trying to relax and enjoy your meal. For the inconvenience of having to ask 3 times for our meal to be rectified I feel an automatic discount should of been offered. Also one of the food items (sausage) was reheated as it had a rock hard edge. It is a shame as the place is delightful and with a few tweaks it could be excellent.

Came to Oliver's today to celebrate our sons exam results. Very disappointed with the quality of the breakfasts that we had, especially as we had waited 45 minutes for them to arrive. The only eggs on offer were poached as the fresh eggs hadn't been delivered. The vegetarian sausage was still frozen in the middle, and our toast was given to another table in error, so we were almost at the end of breakfast before our toast arrived. When it came it was all on one plate so had to use napkins as plates. I appreciate it's school holidays and places like this do get busy, but you could clearly see that the chef couldn't cope. Been her 3 times now and only our first visit was the best. :-(

I had a lovely brekkie here many months ago with local butcher sausages, black pud, bacon etc.. this time I felt a bit shortchanged for £8.. One sausage (nothing special like I had before), beans, 1 bacon slice, 1 toast, tea and a nicely done egg. Overall ok ingredients but not nearing gourmet level so should have had more on the plate in my opinion or something a bit special. Option to pay £1.50 a pop for a single extra sausage, or bacon or black pud slice wouldn't have been worth it (although can't comment on the black pud). It wasn't a bad experience and maybe I'd try another option for better value, but to get a reasonable cooked breakfast it's would be at least £12+. Friendly service from the ladies and a bright, quirky environment.

First and last visit, don't understand so many good reviews. Walked in onto a doormat which consisted of concrete and loose gravel, very strange. The "rustic" look is an excuse for uncomfortable rickety furniture which was not clean, the wooden foot rest under our table was filthy with dried liquid stains. The table top made of narrow planks had food in the gaps that looked like it had been there for ever, yuk. Staff and coffee were fine. Right outside of the door we left by there was a small metal container overflowing with soggy paper cups and cigarette ends together with cigarette ends all over the floor, why would the staff not remove this? Not a good last memory of a food establishment.

So the whole village tells me about this place. One afternoon- picked the kids up from school- we ventured up to olivers for a hot chocolateand sandwich. Wrong. Even though the pain is were in the display cabinet by the counter- they were not being served right now. Try explaining that to 2 hungry kids under 5!!!!! So I asked for some crisps and some milk (hot chocolate doesn't go with crisps,)- and was told:"you still get charged for the milk though."Erm. Yes- I didn't ask for a freebie.?? Sat down- then had to go back to the counter after 5mins to find out what happened to my coffee. "It's here on the counter" (cold obviously by now)Come on! Really? After a bad first impression- I returned for a second inspection on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Staff was unfriendly and unhelpful again, and got a bunch of dirty looks from the other customers as my kids were not sitting down reading the times.......?Please! If you're going to a cafe that allows kids of any age- maybe you'll encounter some noise. For any parent with kids under 5- it's a little stressful eating out.....even if they're on their best behaviour. We really don't need dirty looks from other customers and staff....... I think olivers needs to decide if they want to just be open to grown ups, sipping wine or lattes while reading their papers........OR get with the flow and make everyone feel welcome.

Lovely brunch in really nice surroundings. It would definitely be somewhere to go in the evening to enjoy the wine tasting!

Have visited twice for breakfast with friends who live in Copthorne. Delicious breakfasts and a nice atmosphere. Good menu with not just the traditional English breakfast to choose from. Would definitely recommend.

Visited with family for breakfast, friendly service, nice range of choices on menu, food was freshly cooked with good quality products, much better quality and value than the local hotel we were staying at !! Will remember to have breakfast here instead when visiting. Thank you to staff who were very helpful to a member of our family who is disabled.

We have been there a few times now for breakfast and it has always been good. Parking good, staff friendly, everything cooked fresh with good quality products, served on hot plates, They have never tried to rush us out. They serve beer wine and tapas in evening, I haven't tried it in the evenings, but have heard it is good.

First time visit to Olivers and very pleased with not only the food and coffee but very welcoming staff. The layout is different and adds to the atmosphere. On the whole a good place to visit. We will be back in the evening to try the wines.

This is a very atmospheric coffee house with wine and beer. The food is excellent as is the service. We liked the seating arrangement which wasn't too cluttered. We will return

My friend and I decided to try Olivers for lunch arter seeing an advertisement in Grapevine, a free magazine. We were not disappointed. It was a great place for a light lunch and looked as though their wine list was extensive, although we did not partake on this occasion. I had a toasted cheese and ham sandwich with an egg on top and it was perfect for lunch. The bread was very tasty and there was a lot of lovely filling. The cheese was tasty and melted and I will go back to try other offerings. My friend had smoked salmon covered in slices of perfectly ripe avocado and topped with a poached egg on am open sandwich.. we followed these tasty morsels with a piece of lemon and blueberry cake an coffee. I don't think we could have managed a full portion of cake each so we shared. The staff were really helpful and actually came outside and asked if we would like more iced water after we had asked for water with our lunch. Our waitress had a great sense of humour and was most accommodating and seemed happy to assist us.I would recommend Olivers for a light lunch with friends although I will be trying out their wine list at some stage. It also had a good range of beer,

A great place to meet and socialise with fellow Copthorneans.Hopefully Oliver's will not be a victim of their success by becoming overcrowded to the extent it becomes too much for them to handle the numbers.

Great service, great wines, great place. If it's just coffee or tea that's great as well. Breakfast or lunch food is always good.

I have visited Oliver's many times for lunch and a couple to times for evening tapas and breakfast and I can honestly say that the food is delicious and served in generous portions. The wine tasting concept is fantastic and the wine is very good. Oh, and the staff are very friendly! It's a wonderful venue. My only criticism is that the olive oil served with salads appears to be of the light coloured, refined variety, not the deep yellow virgin or extra virgin variety which I would expect. But aside from that, it's a wonderful place to stop for a bit to eat and something to drink!

What a great idea. Great wines and great staff. You must visit here if you are any where near a wine snob that I aspire to be.... Sorry for self indulging but I just can't help myself. We've been to some really lovely wine bars. Chatteax in Bordeaux, napa valley and Bedales in borough market. And this stands shoulder to shoulder with them. Love wine? And gin? Cider? And ale? Then you'll love Olivers.
