Didn't expect to get a table as we hadn't booked but 4 of us were offered a round table in the bar area which was very spacious. Recommend the fish risotto and the Belly Pork

Overpriced burgers served with frozen skinny fries and no sides. Vegan avocado burger was crumbly and unappetizing. Good selection of beers though.

Didn’t live up to the standards I expected from reading all the reviews prior to our visit. Time limit for lunch felt constricted-2 and s half hours ! Service was hurried and a bit disjointed. Food was great except the stringy roast beef- needs a better quality of beef.

Stopped for lunch. We were served by a very relaxed but friendly and efficient barman. Good drinks and lovely food. Didn't book a table but fortunately there were a couple free on the bar. Restaurant area looked like it was busy.

Checked this out with a couple of beers anticipating eating here the following day. The beer garden was very unloved, long grass, tired seating. Nice staff, beer good but we didn’t return.

This is our local and haven’t eaten here for a while so opted to this Sunday. Table of 5 and we went with roast beef and belly pork amazing choice very well cooked and tasty washed down with loads of wine

We hadn’t been here for many years, even thought we are local. As we were passing, we decided to call in for lunch and were very pleased we did. My wife had cauliflower and cheese soup, and I had a plate of grilled fish with fries. The fish was all cooked perfectly with crispy skin and the prawns were also tasty. Recommended and we won’t leave it too long to return again.

Popped in for a weekend breakfast. Very good quality ingredients at a good price. Friendly owner and nothing was too much trouble. Will certainly come back for brekkie again and definitely pay a visit to sample an evening meal. Nicely decorated and a pleasant atmosphere.

Fantastic little pub, lovely food and great service too! The bar manager was on his own front of house and was run off his feet, but couldn’t do enough for us and the pub was quite busy too. Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere was lovely, would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

We have just had a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Rose & Crown. Delicious roast beef, everything was really tasty and big portions. Great wine selection and super lovely and attentive staff. Would definitely recommend.

I attended dinner here with my family on Mother’s Day. We had a very nice meal and it was extremely enjoyable. The staff were really nice and polite. I would recommend going here. The staff: As I mentioned before, the staff were very polite. They were properly briefed on the menu and any special dishes that were on the menu that day. The food was very nice and well presented. It was also warm; which made it very pleasant and even more enjoyable. I had roast beef and the meat was perfectly cooked. The rest of the meal was nice too. If you go, I recommend the salt and pepper squid as a starter because it was incredibly tasty. The food: The food was delectable. There was a variety of options on the menu as well as a decent amount of options on the children’s menu. I really do recommend coming here. The cleanliness and decor: I am pleased to say that the cleanliness of the Rose and Crown was perfect. The tables were wiped down immediately after people left and were given a thorough cleaning. The rest of the restaurant was extremely clean too. The decor inside and outside was extremely nice. It really welcomes you inside. 1010. The service: The service was really quick. You are served very soon after you walk in. They remembered everything we ordered and brought it out on good time. The Beer Garden: The beer garden was very nice in summer and had a few tables where you could sit and have a drink. However, there was no entertainment for children and considering they had a decent sized outdoor area, it was disappointing that this was not included. When we went recently, the Beer Garden was closed due to the weather. This meant there was even less space to play despite the massive car park that they could have used part of to build a play area; even if it was just a small one. To conclude, I believe you should visit here as it was overall a very enjoyable experience and I would go again.

We visited with family for my husband’s birthday. The food was fabulous and we were well attended to by James and his team. We will be back!

If you want luke warm food on a cold plate in a room full of screaming women, this place will tick all your boxes. The staff dont care. I sent my food back

Had a lovely dinner here with my girlfriend. The menu is interesting and fairly priced and the food was excellent. Very friendly and attentive service will certainly return again.

Popped in for a lunch time bite, and the portion size was large. Harvey's was nice, and service was exemplary without being in your face. Myself and arents will visit again.

Food was absolutely delicious! I recommend the Satay Chicken Bao Bun starter as it was delicious! The steak was also incredible. Staff were friendly and very attentive.

First time here....food was fabulous and in my opinion reasonably priced. Fab onglet steak and best gnocchi ever! We will be back.

Pop in with my mum to get some lunch and this place was wonderful staff were very helpful and very friendly food was amazing wish I had more time and more space in my belly I would have had more. next time I'm down this part of the country definitely will return ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Disappointing experience. Food generally ok, except the risotto rice was undercooked and my partner ate only half. When we politely pointed this out to the two waitresses that served us we were met with indifference. No apology or offer of an alternative. It’s like they didn’t care. Also the main waitress/manager lacked warmth and enthusiasm, which pervaded the culture of the place. When we arrived we weren’t greeted warmly or showed to a table, just a rather disinterested “you can sit where you like”! Won’t be going back anytime soon

Second visit here following a 25 year hiatus. Some friends an I headed here for a summer evening supper. We sat outside initially. Really well-kept Harvey’s, super friendly staff. The food was exceptionally good - steak onglet, beef burger and chicken burger. Only issue was the interior of the pub. It’s far more cafe/restaurant-like than pub-like, especially the area to the right as one walks in.

Recently went here for food and drink with my friends and had a great time. The food was cooked to perfection and the staff were brilliant.

Really tasty and well priced saturday evening meal with friends. Opted for half roast chicken, lovely steak meal and the fish platter. Good service and very tasty.

Asked whether we could start a tab, which was welcomed. We went back to the bar to order food, only to be told that they would like us to pay upfront. Odd but we went along with it and paid. Food was delivered, burger was rare but ate it nonetheless, it was okay. Lamb was decent. One of waitresses (Becky) was very nice and tried very hard but was overshadowed by someone who appeared to be the manager. Who came out on two separate occasions to tell us what we had left to pay for on a tab. Made to feel like we were thieves, I went inside to settle the one round remaining and we left. It's the typical locals pub you want, you know what you will get and doesn't disappoint. Beautiful seating out front in the sun (disappointing they didn't have their beer garden open which no one knows when will be open again if ever) but nethertheless a brilliant pub which serves all the classics with a twist and welcomes you like their regulars, would recommend

Just popped in earlier for a light bite for lunch and a drink. What a lovely place! Friendly and attentive staff and the food was really tasty. Great buffalo chicken wings with what I would off thought was a hand made blue cheese sauce and wow a great scotch egg, presented beautifully with salad, edible flowers and a great sauce too! Good selection of beers, both local and usual selection. We’ll certainly go back. Might get the train up,(if they’re running) to Haywards Heath and meet friends there that live locally. Only 4 stars for the atmosphere, as we were out the front.

Hi thank you for fitting us for Sunday lunch just after 12 today on the fly. Staff are great so is the pub. Lunch Sunday roast bit disappointing. Beef and chicken fine. Vegetables roast potatoes carrots greens that was it very cheap and basic. There was Chefy celeriac slurp not nice and why. Yorkshire pudding overdone had bitter taste. Greens were very tough. For £18.50 not worth it. Sorry room for improvement with the selection of veg and quality of cooking for that price.

Went to thus pub for the first time for a traditional Sunday Lunch. A great menu with a good choice if starters, mains and desserts. The restaurant was full when we arrived. The service was prompt. Most of our party opted for roast sirloin with seasonal vegetables included. The roast sirloin was cooked to perfection for our tastes, nice and rare. The homemade Yorkshire puddings were crispy on the outside and beautifully light. We order extra caukifkiwer cheese too, again delicious. One of our party was vegetarian and chose a delicious mushroom risotto with asparagus topping. There was a good selection of wines and beers including a great non Alcoholic beer. The pub is very popular so definitely worth reserving a table for Sunday lunch

Pleasant pub in the village of Cuckfield. We went during a Friday afternoon and it was quiet and the staff were very friendly. The food was good and the selection was pretty good too, even at lunch time. There is parking on site and plenty of seating inside. I can't say if you would need to book as it was very quiet when we went, but if you're unsure call ahead to find out just in case

Just moved to the area and went for some breakfast here. Great full English. Nice atmosphere. Little bit of a long wait for the food but most places are short staffed after the Covid lockdowns. I'll update when I've been here for a few beers of an evening.

After viewing the menu online and thinking it looked wonderful for someone who is vegetarian. We were very disappointed that we got there bought some drinks were shown to our table to find the menu was different and if you were vegetarian you had no other option but the nut roast. When I asked the waitress why the menu was different she replied it had not been updated for quite some time on their website. Sadly due to this we had to make the decision to go else where in hope we would find something with such short notice. The pub itself seemed lovely. But it would do well with making sure there's a better option and an updated menu on the website. Not all vegetarians would eat a nut roast and its wrong that, that's to be expected when someone who likes the taste of meat has a variety of choice. I don't like leaving a bad review but I hope this is taken on board.

Amazing lovely meal last Thursday! We were blown away how tasty the food was, starters were venison carpaccio and squid which were very tasty and fresh. For the main we shared a fish grill which included smoked mackerel, sea trout and sea bream. Top meal out !

One of the nicest menus in West Sussex! Consistent, delicious and creative, my family and I go to the Rose & Crown nearly every weekend. The owner is engaging and friendly, and clearly very passion about making this one of the best pubs in the area. If you like craft beers, they constantly have guest spots on the taps as well. Rose & Crown is brilliant!

16 of us were looked after for our Xmas party. Food and service was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Lovely setting sat in the beer garden however the sandwich from the lunch menu was below standard. Given the various awards displayed on the walls throughout the pub for exceptional food a simple sandwich should have been no feat for the lunchtime kitchen staff but was left thoroughly disappointed. Sending the food back completely rubbed the bar staff up the wrong way which was disappointing and expected better. (Delayed upload)

Fabulous food and great service. We went after visiting a friend in a nearby care home. I tried to go again on my last visit to the care home, but sadly it appeared closed! Fabulous burger ( and I'm the queen of burgers lol). The homemade chutney with the starter was a delight! I'll definitely be timing my next visit so I can eat there afterwards.

Steak with Stilton, chips and salad was excellent. Delicious apple fritter desert with sorbet. Great service, dog friendly, cozy atmosphere.

The initial service at the rose and crown was good. There were maybe 9 tables inside and out when I ordered our food. We sat out front in the sun, After 15 mins from our food being ordered the waiter brought out some fries and wings for the table next to us, for the man that ordered jusy after i did (We ordered wings and halloumi nuggest to start, then burgers. I said we'll have it as it comes) I went and asked the tall skinny man who looked like he had a Colombian cold if the food would be much longer and he said its just coming. 10mins went by and I went in and asked our original server how long the food would be as it's been 45 mins already -he went and asked the kitchen, came back and said 10mins. I said "our order was forgotten wasn't it" he said I think the ticket may have been lost. I liked that he was honest so didn't say anything. 5 mins goes buy and the starters come out, 2 mins later the guy with cold comes out with our 2 burgers. I said "all together then I guess" he then told me I asked for it at the same time. First lie - said the kitchen was busy with 50 orders so it was a longer wait than usual - second lie. We finished the starters and mains which were both very nice. Went in to pay, sickly man gave me the bill - I said "no discount then" he said, you liked the food didn't you?? And proceeded to tell me I put words in his colleagues mouth when I said he said they forgot our order. 3rd lie. To sum up our first and last visit to the crown. Food was great 👍 service from the young lad was good and honest. Don't get stuck with the guy who looks like he's just rolled in from a night out 😊

Even though we live only a few miles away this was my first visit to the R&C for over 20 years. What a great pub! Really well-kept Harvey’s, welcoming barman and a really great lunch -Steak Onglet, Frites & Chimichurri. Restaurant quality food at pub prices. Give it a try.

Went for a Sunday roast with my partner and baby. Glad we booked as it was really busy. Lots of locals, and dog friendly. Food was delicious, more than just Sunday roast available.

My friend and I, had an amazing meal here last night. The food was exceptional, the fish cakes were perfect and parmesan and truffle fries, full of flavour, fresh and beautifully cooked. The home made ice cream and chocolate brownies, again, were of a very high standard. The staff were super friendly and really helpful even assisting us with our walking route to Brighton. We also had the best of cup of tea to finish off the evening. Thank you Rose and Crown, we will definitely be back! Caroline and Gemma.

Cosy pub located in the heart of Cuckfield. Good quality and interesting food choices available on the menu. Staff were friendly and efficient. I opted for the chicken burger for my main which I was a little disappointed with. It felt a bit lacklustre compared to the beef burger they do. I can't be 100% sure, but felt ill shortly after eating this meal and having checked my photos the chicken may well have been still partly raw (still pink). Do be aware that they add a 10% tip to the final bill price.

The pub is beautiful and the staff is excellent.

Took my staff for a meal last night. We had bread, olives and some chicken wings to start. Yummy! Followed by tuna steaks and the rösti mains. Both delicious and beautifully presented. Good wine, beer and cider to wash it all down. It was made even better by sitting in the lovely garden.

Enjoyed a good pint of pale ale, and sampled the chicken wings and chunky chips. Amazing spicey wings! Pub has lovely atmosphere, will have to return to sample main courses from the menu.

Nice food, little pricey... shame the beer garden is no longer in use, but the bit out the front is nice. Prawn sandwich was a bit dribbly!

This is a pub I will avoid in future. Disabled or the colour of your skin will dictate how you are treated and lied to. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere where they treat everyone with civility, equality and a smile. I would not recommend this pub to anyone.

First time breakfast visit to this traditional Cuckfield gastropub and it was excellent. Well cooked, top ingredients and good coffee. Reasonable prices, dog friendly, popular with families, parking and very friendly.

Loved this pub - really friendly and attentive service. We ordered the Thai burger, and the beef burger (with pulled pork too!) - both new on the menu and awesome. Very very full after. Our server even sorted a taxi for us, really lovely pub.

Lovely pub, good service but always with no heating. Times that I use to go anyway, around 1:30pm. Sad but today was the fourth and last time that I complained about the heating, but nothing happened. Talbot is a bit further, with friendlier staff, cheaper and warmer!!!!
