The Eight Bells in Mid Sussex

Lovely pub and hotel. Highly recommended for beautiful and tasty Sunday lunch. Very friendly and very relaxed. Everyone should visit. Generous portions and excellent value. I left full and satisfied. Will definitely be back.

Visited today 16/03/24 and disappointed to find that indeed it has now ceased to trade. Lets hope a buyer will be found to reopen this lovely village pub and restaurant. (The rating given is naturally under the circumstances fictitious).

Came here on the way home from airport and I have to say we were the first through the door for lunch the staff were friendly as was the resident dog and the food was really nice roast beef Sunday roast it was nice food

Food is great and plentiful. The staff were very friendly and very efficient. Proper pub. Bar staff know when to have a laugh but leave you to eat. Dog friendly. Booked for next year.

We've been here a few times now with family and friends and have never been disappointed. Such wonderful and friendly staff who have always welcomed us with a smile. The food is delicious, with fresh produce, beautifully cooked, thanks to David. The staff are so much fun joining in with my family sense of humour (you know who you are Louise and Cat). We'll certainly be back. Just remember you do need to book as it does get busy so don't just turn up. It is also looking very Christmassy at the moment and will help get you in the mood. No complaints from us xxxx

I don’t agree with the gentleman who mentioned the Curt and abrupt attitude etc I was present on that occasion and I don’t agree with him at all Cat and Louise have always been courteous and charming To be honest the gentleman in question had the attitude, and as for the chipped plates bless him it was a mistake Maybe he was bullied as a child Keep up the good works 8 Bells

Came here with my boyfriend had such a warm welcome and such a lovely time the services and food was amazing they went above and beyond especially cat who is the sweetest thank you all for such a fantastic night 100% recommend

Fantastic country pub! Friendly staff, lovely locals. A very well run family pub, which is hard to come by these days! A must if you're in the area!

We have been here a few times as it is convenient. However never been impressed! This evening made to feel we were an inconvenience! Both our plates had large chips in them! Another couple were turned away rather abruptly! Doubt we will return.

Found this little gem en route home from a weekend away. Down a lane off the A272 towards Bolney. It was a Sunday, we didn’t want a roast and were offered light menu. Perfect hot wings and hummus dish. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Car park at the rear. Would highly recommend

Beautiful Bolney village. Stunning. The pub was a pretty old Tudor style character pub with pool table, restaurant and lots of tables. The gammon, egg and chips were spot on and the staff were friendly. The 4 stars for service is only reflective of the fact that there was only one public facing member of staff - frankly she did really well accommodating so many people at lunchtime! Overall 5 stars. I think it's deserved.

Very welcoming bar lady, nice country pub, nice food, would be happy to return to The Eight Bells.

Visiting the local wine estate, the 8 bells B&B was a perfect choice, only 15 minute walk through the countryside paths to reach the estate. Parking was across the road in the pub carpark. Room was fresh, clean, with a big shower, and roll top bath. Breakfast was across the road in the pub, with choices made the day before.

Disappointing. Took family from Germany for dinner in an old pub. Food was not up to standard and menu choice limited. Food more like cafe standard not restaurant. Staff were very welcoming and friendly.

We visited a year ago and sat outside had an absolutely lovely meal here. We were the only customers perhaps we picked a quiet time or maybe just as they opened I can’t remember. But I do remember there was a dog roaming round outside who was the owners dog - at first I thought the dog was fine just far away from us eating and being friendly but then as the food was served the dog came over and was under the table and even jumping up on us. I’m autistic and I’m pretty terrified of dogs - i don’t mind them if they are friendly but jumping up and getting under the table when people are eating I don’t think is ok. Sorry but I’ve had to drop a star other than that we had a great meal here.

Lovely traditional country pub in the heart of the village. Service was a bit slow but, we werent in any rush. Food quality was excellent and generous portions. The lady that served us was very friendly and chatty.

Nipped in after a bit of wine tasting at the nearby vineyard and had a very enjoyable lunch. Home cooked pies, burgers and, fish and chips - the the pub classics done very well. Beers as good as always too. Just good food and drink in a proper pub. Friendly dog too!

We had a brilliant meal here today, staff are warm and friendly and Bell the house chocolate Labrador is adorable, our dog was made to feel welcome along side the log fire. Fantastic value for money and can’t fault anything. Will certainly visit again.

Sunday Lunch, mid February. Lunch for 4 OAPs. We were made very welcome by exuberant crew. We were hoping to have a bottle of Bolney 'fizz', but sadly, none was available. Shame. The Sunday food was good value for the price. A few more fresh vegetables would have been nice, but we understand budgetary pressures. Again, it was delightful to be so well looked after. Meeting Belle at last was great. She was so friendly.

What a lovely place to find! Nothing was too much trouble and the accommodation superb. Thank you to David, Sas, Molly, Jack and, of course, Belle, for making our overnight stay so enjoyable. Great evening meal and breakfast also. Thanks to all the crew!

There's a new chef at the 8 Bells so we thought we'd try the Sunday Lunch. I have to say it's the best pub roast I've had for years. Perfectly cooked Beef, a great selection of veg and the gravey, Oh The Gravey! Well definitely be back. Soon.

Came on a Monday night and it was very very quiet! However the food was nice, I had the festive burger and my friend had the hunters chicken. However I’d recommend a better plate rather than a wooden board, as there wasn’t even space to put any sauce. We both had the chocolate tart for dessert and it was fantastic!!

Visited with a friend for lunch. Food was really nice, staff were attentive and friendly. My gripe is that a service charge was automatically added to the bill and I didn’t notice until I got home and checked my receipt. This is really, really naughty and puts me off going back to places that do this.

We were two couples that stayed here from Tuesday 6th to Thursday 8th of September 2022, since we were visiting the Bolney wine estate and Ridgeview on Wednesday. We were delighted with the Service, and the rooms, breakfast, and dinners were excellent. Bolney wine estate is only a 15-20 min walk from the pub. Near the pub, you have many good walks as well. The two rooms we rented were also very clean, and spacious and had good beds. You can't ask for more. We will definitely come again.

Five of us went for lunch and had a wonderful time despite the typical rubbish Bank Holiday weather! We were given a table which sheltered us from the heavy rain and hailstones which also had a small heater to take the chill off.The staff members, Sarah and Tom, were excellent and smiled throughout despite getting soaked going in and out with all the orders. I visited lunchtime today for a belated birthday meal with two friends.We had a very warm welcome (even from Belle) and shown to our table which was situated on the patio under a heater.I chose the fish and chips which was delicious, cooked in a lovely light batter ( I can't remember when I had fish so fresh and so nicely cooked), followed by the delicious strawberry cheesecake.By the time we left the seating area was full, so well done to the eight bells chefs and waiting staff for making our visit so pleasurable.

We visited for lunch today and just wanted to say what a lovely lunch it was!
