We enjoyed a lovely evening meal on Saturday 15/03. The food, atmosphere and service was exceptional. We most definitely will visit again soon.

Had a super vegan meal on Sunday and everyone was also very pleased with their meals. The vegan cinnamon cheesecake was amazing. Beautiful decor and the service was great too. Highly recommended and will be returning soon!

We had a very good dinner, the service very pleasant, nothing to say, really good food, good value for money! It was great!

Food and drinks were good. However, this place adds a tip to your bill without asking first, forcing you to have them remove it. The wait staff then give you an attitude. Seems they are going the American way and not paying their staff properly.

My family and friends enjoyed a fantastic roast dinner in the beautiful pub. We had a roast dinner, the portion size was fantastic and more than enough, food very yummy with lots of choices !! Atmosphere was lovely with an open fire and a homey feel! Staff are very helpful and kind. We will definitely be returning soon! Thank you for a lovely Sunday ❤️

Booked for wedding anniversary meal and whole experience was awful, we were sitting for 20 mins and no one had come over so we could order a drnk. Only one person taking orders and pub full so we would have never got any food! Left the pub and will never go back .....

Went for Sunday lunch… best roast I’ve had in a while. The restaurant was very busy but Ed the waiter was so attentive and polite couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommend going.

Not recommended for Gluten free veggies. Very few choices and disappointingly the allergen filter available on the menu gives obviously incorrect answers. When this error is pointed out the staff replied “well thats not my fault”. Oh well. I’ll avoid in future. Such a shame lovely looking place nice atmosphere. Millions of beers and real ales but the only GF one is bottled Peroni. Sigh.

Somewhat disappointing. Food was tasty but portions were small. Service was odd… main course arrived before the drinks, coffee arrived before dessert… leaving us somewhat rushed. Restaurant leas than half full and 2 members of staff visible.

I’ve had some fantastic roast dinners at the Gardeners in recent months, so recommended we visit for a relative’s birthday. The food and service was embarrassing! Worst roast I’ve been served in a long time and slow, inattentive service. Not an inexpensive meal either..

We booked a table for a celebration at 7.30 (not too late at all!). We arrived to tables covered in dirty plates left unattended. I mean not one table - the entire place was covered in dirty dishes. A table was found after a while for us to sit down. Next we were told that there had been an issue with the meat order. We were given a list of dishes not available. Interestingly fish was also on the “not available list”. We ordered food apparently available to soon learn, it wasn’t. We walked out. So, if you are after service, clean tables or food, stay away.

Amazing discovery. STOP if you are in the neighborhood!! A must. Great ambiance. Goood food and warm people. Portion could eventually be a tiny bit larger.

I recently dined at the gardeners arms and had an exceptional experience, thanks in large part to our server, Alex. From the moment we walked in, Alex made us feel welcome and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our meal. His attentiveness and genuine warmth truly elevated the experience.The timing of the courses was perfect. Great service !!

Food not as good as it used to be and prices have gone up. Don't go for a roast here (or anywhere really) late on a Sunday.

The pub, the food and staff are lovely with a warm welcome to anyone that walks in. It feels cosy which is perfect after a long walk.

Delicious food, lovely venue for atmosphere. Sadly they had run out of the steak however the alternative options were delicious and we got to finish our drinks I'm the armchairs by the fire. Great stop on the way to Glow wild!

Our walking group had an most enjoyable time and delicious meal. The Christmas atmosphere was excellent and the staff were both attentive and friendly.

Having just had Sunday lunch with friends and their dog, I feel compelled to write a review. We booked a table for 4 plus one dog at 12.15 and for the first part of our meal all was well. Our waitress was friendly and the food was generally good. We were in good spirits and our friends’ dog was happily sleeping in the corner next to our table. At 1.50, the manager suddenly approached us and told us quite brusquely that he needed our table and we would need to move to another one. We weren’t very happy about this as we still had 25 minutes of our booking session left and had yet to decide on dessert/ coffee etc. We were about to acquiesce when he then added that it was our fault as we had been late to arrive. This really annoyed us as we had arrived at 12.17( 2 minutes after our 12.15 booking) so we said that we weren’t going to move and would just have our coffees and leave. Instead of apologising to us the manager simply muttered “Rude” at us and went away. It ruined our warm, happy feeling about the place and left us feeling like we had been treated really badly by him. Shocking customer service and not an experience we want to repeat in a hurry! A great shame as it could have been so pleasant!

A fabulous Christmas lunch with our car club at this pub today, 2nd year we’ve had it here and it never disappoints. Probably one of the best Christmas dinners I’ve had eating out. Party of 31 and everything came out timely and as far as I know not a single issue with anything. Staff are very friendly, polite and professional. Thank you for a great lunch.

I was with a couple of mates,2 of us had the vegan roast,other roast beef, thought it was OK,just a plate of vegetables and a piece of roast veg mix, at £18 a bit steep. No time for dessert, service fine and busy atmosphere,others enjoyed so I'll give a 4

Only popped in for a drink after work and didn't eat, but there was a good selection of beer, and while a little small, the bar area is nice. I am sure the outside area is amazing in the summer. The barman was polite , not much talk from him but we got the drinks. Will pop in again.

The pub is very close to Kew Wakehurst so it was perfect for a meal after a long day walking in the woods. We loved the food and atmosphere.

We visited The Gardeners Arms last night after pitching up in the rain at the show ground opposite. The pub is beautiful and very dog friendly, my four legged friend enjoyed several of the dog biscuits from the jar on the bar! The staff were very friendly, professional and accommodating. I had the double cheeseburger which was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. My friend who is gluten intolerant also had the burger, unfortunately, they had run out of gluten free burger buns but compensated my friend with an extra portion of gluten free fries. His wife had the fish and chips which looked absolutely delicious! A big thumbs up from me and a thank you to our servers and the chef, we’ll definitely be back!

Very disappointed. Have been in a couple or times now. Each time there is never any water in the beer garden and when you ask the staff don't like it. The bar service is poor. Staff have no idea of who is waiting and serve in turn, seemingly they serve their regulars first. Always wait for a drink, takes several minutes. Garden tables are always dirty and not cleared. Beer is not value for money as it is on the expensive side and not great. Food is just above average for a pub of this stature at best and is slow service and in the expensive side for what you get.

Beautiful restaurant/pub with incredible food and atmosphere. I had the pork belly which was incredible with perfectly cooked garlic new potatoes. I would 100% recommend. My wife chose the Nduja chicken and although the chicken was succulent and the triple cooked chips were great. We didn't get the spice of the Nduja name which was slightly disappointing. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and location. Ps. I would phone first and book in advance.

I was discriminated against by the restaurant. They told me something was out of stock it wasn’t.

Excellent family meal on a Sunday afternoon after exploring Wakehurst. Pork roast was excellent, as was the sticky toffee pudding. Good service overall.

I was in a mood to sit by myself outside, and they do have several outside areas, some more crowded than other. I had the variery plate, with a small side ceasar salad. Very happy with my selection. The place itself is very cosy and quite stylish.

Had eaten here before and had a pleasant enough experience so came back for a Sunday roast. Firstly we were sat right next to the gents toilet, where the smell of ammonia and bleach continually wafted through with the continual flow of traffic passing through. I asked if we could be moved, which we were. To a table right next to the door which was wedged open allowing a gale to blow through. Our roasts arrived and they looked lovely. Sadly even before the cold air had time to cool the food down it was cold. The veg was really cold and had clearly been sat around for a while. The roast beef was tough and try around the edges. The gravy was tasty but again, not even remotely hot. We didn’t stay for dessert as we were keen to get back to our car and warm up. Overall experience was awful and I definitely wouldn’t recommend going!

Great atmosphere, lovely drinks! Noticed that a couple of things that I enjoyed last time were removed from the menu unfortunately like a salmon pie, although food was ok.

We sat out on the patio on a gorgeously sunny Saturday. We found a table for 2 in the shade. Ordered at the bar, food arrived quickly. The Nourish Bowl was delicious, as were the chips. Friendly service. My second time eating here. Also, they’re very dog friendly. Lots of good parking. Will definitely be back.

Worth a detour. Large outdoor terrace with plenty of seating. The fish and chips was one of the best ever served in a pub. A menu with something for everyone. Lovely light batter and a nicely sized portion. Friendly staff

First time I've been here. We went as a family of 7. We were able to be seated outside, and the venue was pleasant. Had the pork belly, and it was delicious. I have an intolerance to yeast, which the staff took seriously from order to delivery of food. Would eat here again.

Visited with 5 friends for Sunday Dinner. We ordered just after 5pm and already there was no pork and a 40 minute wait for more roast beef to cook. Our table top was very loose resulting in drinks slopping over if someone rested their arms on the table. When the food came it was very tasty and was enjoyed by all.

It was a nice sunny day so seemed a good time to visit. We had food and drink outside and the place was quite busy but not too much that we couldn't get a table or it affected the service. The staff were very polite and helpful and the food arrived quickly. The food was cooked and presented well and tasted good. There is a good selection on the menus.

Really nice country pub. Good food, great selection of beers.

We were in a hurry to catch a ferry, we told the waiter and we could order and quickly get our food. The food was great, I had a Toasted Club Sandwich, which was amazing and the fries on the side were quite good as well. The atmosphere was also really nice, to us looking like what we imagined a British restaurant would be (we're Dutch).

On a busy Sunday lunchtime the service was efficient and friendly. The roast beef was tender, rare and plentiful, with abundant and varied veggies. Plenty for the pooch as well in this dog friendly Hall & Woodhouse pub. Can't wait for a return visit to try the midweek fare.

Very good food, had a Sunday roast and apple pie. The place is fairly expensive but then it is nicely located and feels like a traditional gastropub. Would definitely come again.

My wife and I had a fantastic time at this pub! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy, and the service was great too. We were particularly impressed by the manager, "Allergy? Let me know." He was incredibly attentive and made sure everything was perfect. I guess with a name like that, it's no surprise he can handle any situation! Highly recommend this place.

A lovely countryside pub, with amazing options of food for everyone that you can think. I had the pan seared hake and risotto, and my friend had the beetroot wellington (no pictures as it was devoured!) as well as some smaller puddings - the lemon tart was perfect ! the staff are friendly and accommodating too. Great outside seating for warmer days.

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch. Food was amazing and it came out promptly and tasted really fresh. Some of the commercial draught beer wasn’t to my liking would like to see still unfiltered or peroni. Service was great tho and would definitely come again

Great pub, great beer, had food before, excellent. What’s really annoying is not selling peanuts on the basis of some nanny state reason. If you have a nut allergy, don’t buy them. I’ve not been to another pub that doesn’t sell nuts. Where does it all stop

Looked like a lovely pub with ample parking, inside very very dark to the point multiple people using their iPhone light to read the menu (note how dark my photos are). Food really not that great and very small portions considering the prices. The staff were overall friendly but quite short and sharp and not overly happy or welcoming unfortunately.

The servers were friendly and helpful and the food was was presented and tasty, but there was an ever present drains smell which detracted from our meal. It was noticed by other diners too and has been present for several weeks according to the duty manager.

Great little pub, I've been driving past for years and had the time to pop in and sample the delight smells and sights of this delightful PH. Grabbed a table and did the menu and after about 5 minutes I choose the Venison Bourguignon and a pint of Tangle Foot. Tge food arrived in about 5 minutes as the pub wasn't mega busy. Presented very well on the plate. Went down a treat enough on the plate for a main meal. Keep up the hard work from FH to KP and chiefs. I'll be back when I can as I'm delivering in the area quite frequently. Thansk all

Lovely pub and the service was ok. The portion size of the veggie roast was smaller than the child’s portion. Not really ok when you’re paying £17.95. It didn’t even touch the sides and I was still hungry. It didn’t help they had run out of cauliflower cheese. Pretty disappointed so won’t be rushing back.

We have been to the Gardeners Arms numerous times pre-refurbishment and we always happy with the friendly chatty staff and food. However this is our first visit back and found everything rushed. We ordered 4 main dishes which arrived within approximately 5 minutes after ordering (and you could tell). Fish from the fish and chips was cold and batter soggy, and the chips were over crispy and hollow, my wife's hake was dry and tasteless. My youngest did love the chicken tenders and my eldest thought the pork roast dinner was nice so not all bad. However the staff, although attentive looked like they didn't want to be there. no chat and very much an eat and get out vibe. for a £100 meal, with only a glass of prosecco this it not the kind of experience I expected. Fall from grace for sure. Wonderful pub for a drink, but the food has nosedived for sure.

We came here for lunch as we were visiting Wakehurst Place later in the afternoon. Staff were very pleasant and overall we had an enjoyable visit, but would really only come back if we were going to Wakehurst again.

For the price of £20, Sunday roast was awful, especially beef. Looking at other tables, most guests left it untouched as well. Fish and chips were passable at best.

Excellent Sunday roast, we both had the pork, it was hot , very tasty and plentiful, we couldn’t fault it , the best Sunday roast we have had in a while

Thoroughly disappointed. We normally have a good time here but this time we weren’t impressed. We weren’t acknowledged when arrived and took a while to get menus at the table. Our table was booked for 7:30pm and we ordered drinks at 8pm. Two of our steaks were basically cold, very chewy and full of gristle. We told the nice waitress and she spoke to her manager who said they would take off one drink from our bill bearing in mind we had two bad steaks. £4 compensation for £38 worth of food. We only ate it because we were so hungry. Not an ideal meal for a 25th birthday.
