A garden centre, cafe and farm shop. Rushfield's is arguably one of the best in the Brighton area and in this part of Sussex. We frequently go for a light meal and coffee. The service is always excellent; even more now that they have extended their opening times and hired more staff. The plant shop is good with a very good selection of plants but is a little on the expensive side. The farm shop, however is second to none with an extremely good and large selection of goods, ranging from vegetables to meat, cereals, frozen food,etc.,etc.,etc. Thoroughly recommend a visit!

Gave up on this place because of a rude staff member a few years ago but decided to give it another try. We won't go back again. We could see free tables inside but we were left waiting outside queuing with staff ignoring us. It would only have taken a polite acknowledgement that we were there and to say they wouldn't be long. We had seen other customers remove the barrier and walk into the cafe and seat themselves. Eventually we thought we'd do the same only to be told by a waitress to return to the queue and wait to be called in. Needless to say we left and had a lovely lunch at Newbridge garden centre, Horsham.

The coffee is good, lovely cakes but what really makes it is the staff and how cheerful and friendly they are. I was here with my Mum who had to use a wheelchair and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful in getting us seated and served.

Often go to Rushfields cafe for coffee or lunch but must say on our last visit the coffee was quite frankly awful. It was bitter and the frothy milk was more or less non existent. I think the mature lady on drink making duties was either stressed because they were busy or having a bad day. The menu needs a serious revamp as it’s very limited and has effectively been the same for many years. It strikes you as somewhere who seems satisfied to cater for its regulars but could easily expand the choices with a little imagination.

Third time I've been here to eat. I go to the garden centre now just for the food, specifically the bacon bap. Think it's the best I've ever had. Not sure how you can improve on it. Chips were perfect and Sausage bap was also good (but not as good as the Bacon). Even the ketchup is classy, no Heinz here! 11 out of 10.

We visited Rushfields Garden Centre (twice in same week) - for walk around the garden centre, followed by 'brunch' and 'lunch'. On both occasions, we were served by extremely polite team members, nothing was too much trouble - especially for me (in a wheelchair) and wife (being Gluten intolerant). When we next return to mid-Sussex, we will be re-visiting Rushfields Garden Centre and the Cafe. Anyone visiting the local area, we highly recommend you visit this location!!

Still a nice place as it always has been, but the attitude of one extremely rude man serving in the cafe was totally unacceptable. Indeed as we walked out one of the female staff gave us an apology and so it clearly was not just us.

We often go to Rushfeilds for shopping in the farm shop, as it has a great selection of food and drink etc. We then usually end up in the cafe. The service is customer friendly and fairly quick. One thing that they should fix is when eating in their outside section is that bloody sliding door that people and staff open and close. Its a heavy metal door. It is really noisy and disrupting when its being opened and closed constantly by staff and customers. I am sure they could get something better and quieter. Other than that great place.

Thought we'd try lunch at the café for a change. Not much on offer for a vegetarian friendly café at all. Opted for the jacket potato with prawns. Very expensive and the potato had been warmed up many times. My oh had the ploughman's lunch which looked ok but for £12 wasn't enough for the price. Disappointed and won't be returning.

We arrived at 9.10 and the cafe was about a third full, some of whom were already eating. Twenty minutes later we finally got to order food and drinks, although the person taking the orders was going to the table next to us who came in at least ten minutes after us. They were in a hurry and decided they couldn’t wait any longer when we pointed out we’d been waiting quite a while and would really like to be served. Drinks took another ten minutes to arrive and finally 45 minutes after we first sat down our food arrived. The staff were friendly, the food was good, but the service is random and very poorly organised, the staff have no idea who should be served next or how long they’ve been waiting....we will go elsewhere next time.

We arrived just before the lunch rush and what was on display and on the menu looked promising. Sadly our experience was not a great one. Only one person is allowed to take orders for around 16 outside plus 16 inside tables. This person is also greeting and seating people whilst 5 other staff (not including the 2 chefs and one kitchen porter), meet and greet, clean tables, sort cutlery, make drinks and deliver food. Consequently we waited quite some time before we could order (we did ask once if we could order but were informed of the above policy). Having run a kitchen of 3 staff with 3-4 waiting staff and up to 70 covers per service I suggested to the person allowed to take orders that just one more of the waiting staff also taking orders might be helpful. I quite rudely told that this was how they did it and any other way would 'back up' the kitchen. Perhaps a question of organisation rather than staffing? It's a shame and not a great reflection on the rest of the staff who were very pleasant - if limited in what they are allowed to do. It's unlikely we'll return.

We turned up at 08.58 on a Saturday morning for breakfast, having checked that they opened at 09.00 and there were already a few tables taken. By 09.30 it was busy, so that says it all doesn't it? We have had lunch at Rushfields before but had only sandwiches etc. - this time we decided to choose from the specials boards that are clearly displayed on the back wall. We both chose : Grilled Chicken with Roasted shallots , black pudding with toasted almonds and apple oil. The plates arrived promptly but we soon discovered that the dish we were given did not contain shallots and one had just one toasted almond kernel. The shallots had been replaced by salad leaves of baby spinach and frisee endive. Not what we expected . The endive was in large sections and was characteristically tough and virtually impossible to cut. The chicken was very dry breast slices that had been seared on a griddle - this too was hard to eat. Luckily we had tea to help wash down the food . We eat out a good deal and understand that the last servings at lunch can be a bit hit and miss but this was in the 12:30 to 1pm

It was wonderful!! Lovely to sit outside but under cover and chose from the excellent menu. The service was very good and efficient. Food was prepared and served in super-quick time and I have to say the coffee is possibly some of the best I've ever had out - so much more tasty than the coffee chains. For 4 breakfasts and tea/coffee the bill was £44 which I thought very good value for money. Smooth avocado and poached eggs on toast was lovely and tasty. As a personal preference, the eggs were over-cooked. Otherwise, it really was very, very good.

My partner & I attended Rushfields cafe recently. It was 2:10pm on a weekday, and we were seated & given the menu. It said that customers could order cream teas from 2pm, and so we asked for the advertised cream teas with fruit scone option. However, we were told that the fruit scones had sold out. Odd considering that we were no more than 10 minutes into the cream tea serving period and there were no more than 5 fellow customers in the cafe - none appearing to be eating scones. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time that this anomaly has occurred at Rushfields, and friends have also mentioned experiencing a similar event from time to time. Maybe if Rushfields finds it difficult to fulfil an advertised menu offer, they should consider removing the offer altogether ? Always better to meet your customers expectations than to repeatedly disappoint....

Rushfields Cafe can be very good sometimes but on my last visit it was very disappointing due to slow service and the not very helpful attitude of one member of staff. We go here fairly frequently and have enjoyed the fact that the café has recently upped its game and started producing far more interesting meals which are cooked fresh and delivered to the table. The menu is much more tempting - lovely salads and platter boards - and there is certainly a lot more choice. The food on offer is more 'trendy' than it was before - and it is always very tasty and nicely presented. We have noticed though that the staff do almost always seem to be quite stressed, even though most of them are friendly and helpful. On our last visit we arrived just before 1.00 and were seated and a very friendly waitress took our drinks orders while we looked at the menu. We gave our food order to a male waiter a few minutes later and were issued with a receipt which clearly showed what time the order had been put through to the kitchen. We waited. We waited some more. During this time people who had ordered after us had already got their meals. After nearly 40 minutes I intercepted the waiter who had taken our order and very politely asked him how much longer our food would be. He snapped back at me "It's all cooked to order, we are not a fast food outlet you know", to which I replied that as both our meals were salads it shouldn't have taken very long to produce. Rather than apologising he became increasingly defensive and said "It would take 20 minutes to get your food ready" to which I replied that nearly 40 minutes had passed. He then insisted that I show him my food order receipt to try and prove me wrong about the timing. He of course had to concede after looking at it that my time estimation was correct and I wasn't imagining things. No word of an apology but he flounced off in the direction of the kitchen to find out where our food was and came back a few minutes later to tell us that our dishes would be "the next ones out" in a very abrupt manner. After the food was eventually delivered, having been very defensive and (to my mind) discourteous and rude over the time delay, he changed his attitude completely - coming past our table every few minutes asking if everything was alright! Now, I don't expect things to go right all the time and I am well aware that there can be delays when an eaterie is busy but what I really object to is the defensive and bullish attitude of the member of staff who refused to acknowledge that in fact we had waited 40 minutes for two salads (both of which were very nice once we got them). The management need to have a word with their staff about how to respond when customers have any form of complaint - they will lose a lot of regular customers if staff continue to speak to people in the way this waiter did to us.Finally - my salad came with a bottle of absolutely delicious balsamic vinegar and because I liked it so much I bought a bottle of, allegedly, the same stuff in the farm shop but on opening it at home it is nothing like what I was served in the restaurant and tastes like sugar syrup which, at nearly £5 a bottle, was immensely disappointing and a huge waste of money.

At a time when pubs and restaurants all seem to have gone mad with prices what a brilliant find Rushfields Cafe is for lunch.Very big portions and a very good selection of main courses largely based on their own pies and meat.A FANTASTIC Hot chocolate brownies with ice cream to round off (if you have room).Good and friendly service.Do try it.

The food was fine, scones and coffee. Had to wait 20 minutes for our order and when it arrived the waiter,i use that term very loosely, plonked the drinks and scones at one end of the table so we had to pass them along. The cutlery was thrown down and wrapped in tissues. One of our ladies had soup and she asked if their is a soup spoon. The grumpy 'waiter' said in an abrupt manner 'have you looked in the cutlery', Also there was no option for Flora as butter was placed on all the plates. Would not eat there again.

I often come into Rushfields for something to eat after a mornings voluntary work at a local school with my reading dog Bella. The younger children gain confidence in their reading when they read to Bella on a one to one basis. The prawn sandwich accompanied with a very good salad was lovely and so is their pot of tea. Bella is always offered water and a biscuit. Brought a lovely Rushfield rose and two other plants which were carried to the till and then to my car as I walk with a stick. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at Rushfields .

Four of us went to Rushfields for lunch. We ordered coffee, various sandwiches and cake etc. The food was good but we did have to wait a while for our orders to be taken and then for the food to come.

Passing by so popped in for a wander around the garden centre and decided to stop for lunch. Warm welcome. Very good lunch menu. I had a feta & spinach flan with salad and a very good potato salad and my friend went for a meat platter which was nicely presented. Very good apparently! A pot of tea went own very well with the food. No room for desert although the cakes looked very inviting we resisted. Will definitely return, maybe for afternoon tea.

A party of 14 of us arrived and had forgotten to book! We were made incredible welcome, received super service with a smile. I loved my lunch and everybody seemed happy to tuck into theirs. Smoked salmon, cream cheese bagels with a lovely mixed salad really filled me up but a fresh slice of lemon drizzle cake completed the deal. There's something there for everyone, plus super plants, indoor and outdoors and a farm shop. Can't wait to go back. Thank you, Rushfields, for such a wonderful experience.

Great for a bite to eat while plant shopping, the food is a cut above normal garden centre fare, with best quality local produce among the ingredients. All our meals were lovely and the staff are kind and attentive.

The witch is a lovely pub with good food and great staff. I celebrated my birthday there recently. Everyone was very welcoming and patient, with 17 of us procrastinating over what to have. There were some nice vegan options for myself and my partner and everyone enjoyed there meals. 5 stars 🌟

My coffee experience failed at the first hurdle. £4.95 for a flat white. A coffee that could be "enjoyed" over looking a dusty car park, or from a hard looking interior with no atmosphere whatsoever. This is just nonsense. From two previous experiences I had looked forward to sitting on the balcony overlooking the vineyard. What a let down. I believe it is a legal requirement for traders to display prices. Then is none on show for consumers to make an informed decision.

Popped in here for a bacon and sausage baguette. Was very disappointed in the baguette. I expected more in it for the money I paid. Which with a coke was over 7 pound and all I got was 1 sausage and one and a bit rasher of bacon. Not value for money in my opinion.
