I've given plenty of five star reviews over the years, but this venue really needs something beyond that. This has to be amongst the best of the best. What a wonderful place; from the moment you step inside and see the gleamingly clean glasses hanging above the bar area, the sparkle of the beautiful decor tiles, fabulous wallpapered ceilings and sumptuous seating you just know this is going to be a class act. The staff are exemplary in their attentiveness and the way they make you feel special without being over the top. Then there is the food which let’s face it is so important because you could be sitting in 5 star luxury eating 3 star offerings and just because it looks good doesn’t always mean it’s going to taste good. Well I can honestly say that in the 40 odd years I have been dining out I have never had anything as close to the perfection I had last night - it was simply divine and not a single aspect from the wine to the desert disappointed. The whole experience was very impressive and enjoyable and made more so by the very friendly staff. We had a great double birthday celebration and look forward to visiting again very soon indeed!!! Thank you 😊

Wow! We had a superb lunch there on a wet and windy Wednesday in January. The food here is top notch. Excellent flavours presented beautifully, with a menu that made it hard to choose as there were so many yummy choices. I’ve told all my friends and even though it’s two hours away from us it’s well worth the journey - plus you get a walk on the beautiful Barmouth beach to work up an appetite. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a restaurant. Just wow. I am French and come from the catering industry. Did three years training in a catering school, worked for 10 years in restaurants and 7 years as a butler. I am highly critical when it comes to restaurants and cooking. First I love the setting but the food here is just incredible. We just had lunch but it was just amazing. Cooking to perfection. Flavours that make you close your eyes. The chef i heard was a finalist in Master Chef the professionals. Well , I might start chasing those finalists around the country if that is the standard. Do not miss it.

Very attentive and friendly staff. The perfect place for a celebration meal as we did for my brothers 70th. I would say this is now the finest restaurant in Barmouth and there is some great competition. The ginger pudding is probably the best dessert I have ever had anywhere

Stayed for 2 nights in a very well-appointed room, thankfully air conditioned as it was during the early September heatwave. We ate spectacularly from a well executed, value for money, fine dining menu. (£55) Barmouth is a revelation, yes bits of it are “kiss me quick” but there are plenty of really good places to eat. We ate at the tiny but excellent Bistro Bermo and had a great lunch at NorBar, just outside of town.

Excellent food and top service! We visited this pub in Cuckfield for the first time last night (as an alternative from our lovely local the Cock Inn in Wivelsfield Green and as our daughter was down from Oxford) having researched places to eat in the area. From the moment we walked in the service was faultless with several members of staff checking if we were being looked after. Very safe and secure COVID-19 arrangements and a lovely table. Table service was prompt but not intrusive. The choice of food was very good and the meals were very good. The girls had enormous haddock in beer batter and chips - very tasty fish indeed! I had two perfectly cooked sea bream fillets in a wonderful creamy mussels sauce and indulged myself with rough skin fries which were heavenly! Whilst not being rushed in any way the bill was provided promptly and without fuss and staff checked regularly to make sure we were ok for drinks and enjoying ourselves (which we were!). Visited the Talbot some weeks ago - on a rainy freezing cold day. There were 7 of us including two small bored little boys. The mother in law and I walked ahead and sat by the bar and I was served with the most amazing bloody Mary - the best one I have had in a long time by a delightful young lady with a great choice of mixers. So often my bloody Marys are awful - but this one was fabulous. In fact at a local country pub last week my drink had no vodka in it! But what can you say to the barman? Move on Jillian! We were shown to a lovely comfortable table and the food was amazing. My roast duck was fabulous and all the family loved their food. The lovely waitress took some photos for us with great patience and everyone was very happy with their meal. A really lovely afternoon on a bleak windy rainy day. Cant wait to return.

This is a nice venue and I paid £150 as the BMW PGA golf was on. The restaurant was ok, the food is about average, we had Steak, it was well done instead of medium rare, the wine list was on the cheaper side but we managed. The room was a down stairs room in a newer building in the carpark, the room lacked privacy and the on suite was not clean and didn’t have anywhere to put you toiletries down, The shower was an absolute joke, not a lot of water and not a lot of hot. Not the best but it could be really nice. The breakfast was nice, apart from the staff were arguing in the kitchen as I turned up, I found that quite funny really, I would go back for business but not pleasure.

We visited on a Monday lunchtime (we didn’t pre book) to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary as well as it being the first time out with our baby. We were made to feel welcome as soon as we arrived and offered a discreet table so we could set up camp with our son. The food was excellent, tasty, fresh with generous portions, great value for money. The staff were wonderful, really friendly and made us feel relaxed. It was the first time I had breastfed our son in public and I was made to feel relaxed and offered cushions to ensure I was comfortable. We also battled our first public nappy change, the changing facilities were impeccably clean. Despite our initial anxieties of facing a pub lunch with our baby, the whole experience was fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for a better day out celebrating our anniversary with our baby in tow. Thank you so much and we can’t wait for our next visit!

Me and my family visited the pub for a lunch, food was nice standard pub food however the service was a little frustrating. Food arrived, part of the order never arrived so I had to go back up to the bar to ask for it. Then we noticed an another item was missing from one of the plates that was listed on the menu so back to the bar to ask for that.

Two years in a row my company has had their Christmas party at The Talbot. Both years was faultless. Quick service, friendly staff and the food was incredible. A good range of draft beers too. Highly recommend.

Regularly eat at the Talbot. There is a good bar with a range of local ales from the southeast and interesting range of lagers. The pub also has a number of Sussex gins.

Despite having lived in this historic village and the area for over 40 years , we had not tried dinner . The food was outstanding especially Burata with tomatoes , Salad of smoked chicken with mango and avocado . Prawn linguine , cod and other fish main courses were excellent . We wish that there had been more fellow diners but the quiet was typical of Monday night . Good service too. Highly recommended. We will be back !
