Made a mistake by not complaining at the time. First up good coffee. However, sausage bap an sausage baguette awful. Worse was the supposed side of hash browns. Half cold lidl offering. For the money I can only say at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask. Never again, there are much better places in the area

Passing through Cuckfield we decided to pop in for lunch. As we arrived a staff member was taking orders from someone sitting outside so we found an empty seat and sat down. Another staff member came out and took another order from a customer, acknowledged us, and then went back in. 10 minutes later and a couple of walk in customers and still no menu or a courtesy ‘You have to order inside’ from any of them. Decided we obviously wasn’t welcome and left. If you don’t do table service, at least let your customers know, maybe while you are doing table service and special orders for other customers?

Popped in for a bite to eat on a cold Sunday, staff were sat on the floor when we turned up. No welcome and a smile certainly went amiss. Was undecided what to have between a bacon and egg roll and a panini, picked the panini and heard the chef say ‘oh for goodness sake I’ve put an egg on’ - hardly the world’s biggest issue. No pleases or thankyous from the staff- felt like they were doing us a favour by being open... Oh, the food was alright.

Stopped off for a coffee and scone. Firstly the coffee, which was tasteless, turned up quite some time after ordering in a disposable cup, even though I said I was eating outside, so it wasn’t a takeaway. Went back in a few minutes later to remind them I had ordered a scone as well. Served on a disposable plate and a plastic knife with one satchel of butter. Aren’t we supposed to be trying to save the planet?

A traditional, simple cafe where there is a friendly welcome and perfectly acceptable cafe style food and drinks at a reasonable price. My friend and our babies were made to feel welcome and there were highchairs readily available so that they could sit whilst we ate and drank! I had come from Tom’s Cafe down the road, where it had been made clear that our babies were not welcome to sit if they weren’t eating, so this was a breathe of fresh air.

My partner and I have visited this cafe on numerous occasions and have always had a positive experience but on this occasion I was seriously annoyed and we won’t be returning. We visited for a late breakfast and only one table left on the inside we sat at this table. It was freezing - the fan was on full blast and later discovered that the air con was also on full blast and it was ice cold. We initially asked politely if we could turn the fan down before realising it was coming from the air con and politely asked if that could be turned down... not off. To give you an idea, the menus and napkins on the table were blowing. The couple on the table next to us also expressed how cold it was. A few minutes later nothing happened, but another lady came round the corner and in a loud and quite aggressive manner in a display in front of all customers stated “the air con is for the benefit for all the customers so if you’re cold you can go outside”. I tried to explain that it was ice cold and just turning it down would be ok before she cut me off explaining that that they wouldn’t be changing it. This was a pretty chilly drizzly day but being outside was honestly warmer than sitting underneath that air con. Had she politely explained and apologised this would have been fine but it was her bad attitude that we had the problem with. We should have left there and then but to be honest were so in shock at this lack of service and too hungry we stayed but we definitely won’t be returning after our latest experience.

Bit odd that at 11:00am there were no scones – “not been made yet” of any type, sweet or savoury, as advertised on the table. OK, I’ll have a cake, “Sorry don’t really have any cakes”. So, instead we had a bit of lemon tray bake. Coffee was OK, as was the tea. Noticed that others were having a breakfast or eggs bacon and toast which looked very appetising. So, all pretty average, staff were pleasant and service prompt.

Passed here several times but never stopped so when we were visiting Cuckfield we decided to give this little cafe a try. Its always looked inviting from the outside with its verand and always people sitting there so what could go wrong? Well, to be fair nothing went wrong at all but all the same we were left feeling a bit let down. There wasn't a great deal to choose from in terms of cakes as there only seemed to be tray bakes and some rather nice looking rock cakes which were OK I suppose but didn't quite hit the spot. One of the servers was a bit scary but polite and attentive, the coffee was OK but I ended up wishing I'd ordered a full English like the one I saw on the next table and wished the place had been what I had expected and not what is was. Hey, don't let this deter the person who wants a lunch or a sandwich as they seemed to be popular and the visitors were clearly well known. But if its a country cream tea sort of place I don't think it is. Would I go back? Yes, but I'd be better prepared.

Mi hija y yo llamé a almorzar hace poco visitando Cuckfield.

The ladies working there were really friendly, service was nice and quick and everything was made fresh. Had tea, coffee and a couple of slices of cake (blackberry and apple, chocolate fridge)Both drinks and cakes were really nice; the latter in particular were delicious and made in-house at that! We sat inside although the weather was sunny; the café has tables outside at the front just off the pavement by the mini roundabout in the centre of the villageThere are a couple of other places nearby but we haven't visited to date so can't comment whether The Corner House is the best. Visited today and had a great lunch - served by the chef with aplomb! Nothing was too much trouble and felt to be a valued customer. We visited today slightly late for lunch but we ordered toasted sandwiches and a quiche with salad. For me the best bit was the chef asked if I wanted raw onion with my salad which for me was great as I really cannot abide raw onion - my preference I know but fantastic to be asked! We have visited in the past and found the service and the cooked breakfasts to be excellent. Today as it was later we went for sandwiches/salad and they did not disappoint. We drank coffee which was good the cappuccino was exactly as required 1/3 coffee, 1/3 milk and 1/3 froth with chocolate.Thank you all will definitely be back.

I normally go here during my lunch breaks and have always found the food consistently good and well presented. Therefore I was really disappointed on Sunday when I took my family there for breakfast! There was a long wait for the order to be taken and I had to return my poached eggs as they were like rubber balls, after waiting for ages the chef appeared to apologise for the wait. When they finally arrived they were still not good. When we paid the bill the card reader was not working but there hd been no sign to say it was out of order. Very trustingly they said we could pay later in te week, however we popped to the cash dispenser and paid up.I do not understand how different my experience was compared to a week day.

I went for the first time to the corner cafe on Wednesday for a quick lunch with a friend and I ordered a Mexican omelette which came with a very nice salad. The omelette was cooked very well with peppers, sweet corn and onion. My friend ordered a baked potato in its jacket and this also was served with a nice fresh salad. The waitress was very attentive and came back with salad dressings and asked if there was anything else we needed. This is not a fine dining restaurant but if you just want a quick lunch with friends this is definitely the place to consider. The side salad was much better than I expected with some nice freshly grated carrot and sweet corn as well as the usual lettuce tomato, cucumber and cress and there was plenty of it. I also had a mug of very well made tea my friend had a coffee. It was more than sufficient for lunch.I would definitely go back again for lunch.

It was returned with froth and some chocolate powder on top but it still tasted revolting and was undrinkable. We had to leave the drinks. My husband had a caramel slice and the cost for all this was £11.90!! Outrageous. Having frequented this Cafe many times, I felt complelled to write a review because my boyfriend had the Corner House Breakfast and said it was the best breakfast he had had for a very long time, so only fair to share that really! I do feel (as an Italian) that the coffee is actually sub-standard- very weak, and not the place to go and expect a good coffee. I am not sure I would order a coffee again here- maybe the machine needs a clean or more coffee needs to be used. I will look closer next time I am in. I don't know if it is possible to look into this, because in my opinion this is the only thing that lets this establishment down. I have come during the week, and at weekends, and am ALWAYS greeted with a smile and a giggle when we have spoken. Yesterday we left with a piece of Gluten Free Brownie and last night we ate it, and it was DIVINE! I can also vouch for the Rocky Road!!

The 'milkshake' was a bottle of yazoo. Which was plonked on the table in front of him. He was then asked if he wanted a glass (with the distinct impression that the right answer was 'no'). Ive driven past this cafe/tea room for years and always been put off going there because of the poor parking availability... any how, this week, my friends and I were hungry after travelling back through the county... and by chance the road outside was clear and I decided to park. Im disabled and so need to park on the street - otherwise there is a car park nearby.Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised how large the premises were (looks small from outside) - and was greeted by an older lady with a smile and a good welcome. However the other waitress (middle aged) was very curt and not friendly at all. Had the sense that we were inconveniencing her, and she was quite cold, and sadly didnt warm up!We ordered some coffees, which arrived promptly... but the coffee was poor quality and was more froth than drink. Food was also ordered and again, the food arrived without too much delay and could only be described as adequate/average... the knives and forks were literally plonked in the middle of the table without any care. The food was ok.. but the omelette - which was huge, tasty and cooked well was excellent. So the thing that let this place really down was the poor customer service and I was really disappointed. I will not be returning sadly.
