The Cherry Tree in Mid Sussex

Whilst the venue was lovely and atmosphere great the food was lacking on this occasion and not up to standard. We were a group of 6 celebrating a birthday and were expecting great things, alas this was not so, some of the dishes on the menu were not available. My crab scotch egg was very small and not worth £10.95 neither were some of the other starters, the seasonal green veg was just a mixture of shredded greens, mostly carrot, the pork dish was accompanied by the same shredded carrot in a small cabbage but that wasn’t explained to me when I ordered the additional veg side dish. The sea bream and lamb were ok but the accompanying veg let the dish down. The coffee machine was apparently broken so no cappuccino The waitress was very bubbly and efficient and did apologise for the failings. In all not the best experience…..

We had a very enjoyable dinner here when staying locally before flying out from Gatwick. Wish we lived nearer - quality ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented with style and flair. Friendly service, thank you to the team. Will be back next time we are in the area.

We had dinner last night at the Cherry Tree and had a fantastic experience. We shared the fish platter, which was a tasty selection of fresh mussels, prawns and salmon. The highlight of the meal, though, was the beef short rib — it was so succulent that the meat practically fell off the bone. On top of the delicious food, the service was friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience even more enjoyable.

Great food, great service, drinks. The whole of this pub looks lovely it was Christmas and the decorations were fantastic. My only criticism is the food could have been hotter but would definitely return and recommend

We've been to this place before but thought I'd give it a review this time. Lots to like about it, food was really good today, sadly no steaks on a Sunday but a proper roast dinner with all the trimmings, everything was top drawer. Good service, good atmosphere, nice selection of draught beers. The place was lovely and warm when we were there too. Yes it is a little on the steep side, but personally I don't mind paying a bit more if the food is good and this place is certainly in that bracket. Everyone was very happy with everything about the place. Refreshing indeed. The only downside is that the parking is a bit tight and there's not much of it and so at busy times you may end up down the road a fair way and it's no fun hiking back in the dark along that road.

We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, delicious food and friendly staff. We will definitely come again. We would especially like to thank Kai and Iumiya for their welcoming and accommodating service.

What an amazing afternoon. The perfect place to host a celebration. The occassion ….Mums 90th. 30 people. The food was just so lovely and we were able to take away what we didn’t it. From booking to the day was seemless ..I cannot thank everyone enough. Would recommend every time.

Booked a table with my partner and my family, we asked to move tables and nothing was a problem and they moved us in seconds. The meal was fantastic, there was a small accident with mayonnaise being dropped, and a bit went on my jacket….. and I will still give 5 stars the waitress was just fantastic, there food was fantastic all the team had huge smiles and nothing was too much trouble. I look forward to going back very soon. Give this place a go !

Lovely atmosphere and the food was superb although it was a bit pricey Staff were very pleasant and courteous I had the fish and chips my mother in law had the steak it looked lovely And the desserts were out of this world

The Sunday roast was expensive and not up to par. The beef had a lot of fat on it, the carrots and parsnips were simply lazy as chopped in half and not peaked before mildly roasting. No one asked how our food was. Unimpressed and won’t be back. Beef £22 Chucked £19.50 ( not including stuffing or sausage).

This pub/restaurant has gradually become a very slick, smart place to go for a meal. The pub bit is mainly outside, which is nicely layed out. The drinks are expensive, the food was delicious, but also fairly expensive. The menu is interesting and imaginative. I had a smoked salmon and crab salad. There were generous amounts of smoked salmon and Devon crab, beautifully presented. My husband had fish and chips, which he said was equally delicious. Good service, obviously professionally trained waiter who helped to make our meal special. Unfortunately, in what was a fairly empty restaurant the table right next to ours were seated half way through our meal, three very loud, inconsiderate fellow diners. Their choice of language and volume of speech, right next to our table spoiled the lot. Should have spread customers out, plenty of spare space!

Tender meat and lots of it in the Sunday Feast. Perfectly cooked vegetables in just the right amount as an accompaniment. Speedy service. Pleasant atmosphere in the premises. A decent choice of wine. The Chilean Ladera Rose a notable one. If prices are of concern to some, there is plenty of value here nonetheless.

This is a place that is now punching well above its weight. The new menu with almost all mains at £20 or above is a surprise. Unfortunately, the food supplied doesn't justify the price. Add to this, all deserts are over £8 each. A main plus dessert with an alcoholic drink per person and you're around £150 for a party of 4. Not value for money at all. The table next to us received a loyalty club discount. No mention of that on the website! Perhaps regulars are paying the price to keep the exclusive club receiving discounts or is it just greed? Definitely not value for money and time to head elsewhere.

Always solid good food and friendly service. We go quite a bit for lunch with work colleagues and the menu is great and the food is always a great standard. We will keep returning. Great for dinner also which we have been in for a number of times.

I'd been searching for a restaurant to celebrate my 70th birthday that opened on a Monday evening and served a good variety of dishes to satisfy all tastes, when I came across The Cherry Tree, which looked like the perfect solution. I arrived early to meet my daughter and granddaughter and was greeted by Christine and her colleague, whose name I didn't get. It was obvious from the start that there was a relaxed atmosphere in the pub, and this translated to the restaurant when the rest of the family joined us. The service was impeccable, nothing was too much trouble, and the food was fabulous. Christine was very efficient with a great sense of humour, which went a long way towards our enjoyment of the evening. Did I mention the food? Such a variety of dishes to suit all tastes, and all beautifully fresh, from starters, mains and desserts, and not one complaint from anyone in our party of eight. I'm looking forward to seeing the Spring and Summer menu so I can return to sample some more great food and hospitality.

Firstly the setting a warm welcome from a lovely lady, I wish I had her name, she waited our table and was AMAZING attentive polite and so smiley. Nothing was too much. The food was exceptional, great variety and fantastic menu options, our waitress talked through options. She really was 5* perfect in every way. I wish I had her name so I could mention well deserved praise we were table c2 on the 2nd feb and 7 ish pm. The only downside and the reason I scored 4 rather than 5 was due to the floor manager, Christine, although she was polite she gave us the wrong bill didn’t apologise and quite frankly didn’t appear to be doing much while the rest of the amazing staff ran around doing everything. All in all fab place

Omg where do I start 😊first time here and also was recommended by friends. Greeted by a lovely woman when walked in, great looking place inside and out. Very welcoming by all members of staff. Gave us a choice of tables, obviously near a fire place a added bonus. Menus offered straight away, drinks order taken straight away aswel. Specials on offer were told. While waiting on our food order the chef/owner sent over complimentary starters and jeez it was delicious, all 4 of us was blown away. Mains came and again blown away by not only the presentation but the food was amazing. Then went on to order desert jeez so so good. Thank you cherry tree me and my friends are definitely coming back. Once you find a place that ticks all boxes why go anywhere else 😊

Three of us dined at this establishment this Saturday evening.3 courses each 3 bottles of wine, numerous other drinks and not one criticism from any of us. Service was first class and they were all working extremely hard. Food is well prepared and full of taste.Crab pasta starter is one of the best we have had for a very long time. It's not cheap,but if you want good food you have to pay for it. We have now found a restaurant around our area that is worth going to.

Another fabulous lunch at The Cherry Tree today. 19 of us enjoyed a delicious 3 course Christmas lunch, food was a delight as were all the staff who attended us. Thank you to Front of House & Kitchen staff for an amazing afternoon.

The second visit to the Cherry Tree and we were were not disappointed. From the booking of the table a week before, I have to say they were extremely accommodating. Took family for a pre Christmas meal and everyone said how wonderful the food and staff were. Honestly the Sunday roast is superb!! A special mention to Mel our server as she was so friendly, enthusiastic and really made our family afternoon special. Thanks you guys! We will be back !

Had a lovely meal here with 5 other ladies. We all enjoyed the food but the event was spoilt by the restaurant being so cold, there was a log fire in one of the dining areas but the one where we were seated was not lit. In this freezing weather they really need to light both fires. The chicken pie was delicious.

I went there with a friend last night and her elderly father. The meal was excellent and the service helpful, friendly and professional. Will definitely be going again. The staff even provided me with the props I needed for my party trick which I left them with! (see photo).

Outstanding service. Melanie, our waitress, was incredible - attentive, helpful and cheerful. She made our night, making my elderly father feel really special. The food was very good too.

I have never ever had such poor service in the entire 70 years I have been eating out. The women that was booking us in, had no interest in what she was doing and could not seem to find us on the bookings.. I offered to show her our confirmation but she was not interested. She finally took us in to the bar where she asked two customers if she could have there table which was a table for two but we were in a party of three. I could go on and on about the poor service , needless to say we would never return or advice anybody else to go there. Disgraceful service and no apologies.

Been coming here for meals with friends and Sunday lunches with family and always impressed. Sunday lunch is top notch. I’m not normally one to keep returning when you have so much choice around but it’s such good food that unless you are getting a train to London and spending a lot of money it really is hard to find better cooked food. Food is very good. Table service is great. It was very busy on our visit, so be prepared a little wait for food to arrive on busy nights. Suggest always book for busy nights. Sumiya was very attentive, she went out of her way to address our needs

I Came in for my husband's birthday celebrations and we had the most AMAZING sunday roast. We live in Birmingham and have never had anything like it. Lou looked after us. She was awesome. She was so attentive and professional. Looked after my father in law who was very cheeky with her and she graciously laughed it off with him. Super place! We'll be returning in 2 weeks. Can't wait!
