Tim Ley in Mid Sussex

Had D4 meal for 4 people on 12 sept 2024. Wonderful food and friendly phone service and delivery service.

Great chicken satay. And prawn wonton. Large portions. Busy for a Wednesday early evening, lots of deliveries going out. Definitely go again for a takeaway .

Ordered a take away, which you do by sending a message on what’s app. Arrived on time and food was very good. Had a variety of dishes, all tasty and hot. Only slight issue was they left one dish off the order but very polite when we called about it. Would use them again.

You need this restaurant in your life!!!! I have been in the area of Hayward's Heath/Burgess Hill/ Brighton and environs for some 5 years. I have tried every Chinese restaurant in the area (it seems like) and been ultimately disappointed with one aspect of the food or other (and some quite more than that...) Search no more. This restaurant serves great food with excellent flavour, hot, on time (if not earlier) , with wonderful customer service/ delivery and at a more than a reasonable price. Admittedly, I haven't tried the entire menu - but it's my mission to do so!

Ordered chicken curry. It wasn't 'real' chicken and the curry sauce was frothy. The spring roll was very old tasting, like it had been deep fried in very old oil or more likely been reheated aswell. It was 'old' non fresh tasting. Was totally gutted as after a few days not being able to eat properly I was soo looking forward to it. I rang to describe my complaints but she stayed quiet and then pretended she didn't understand. So I patiently repeated it 3 times. No offer of and full/partial refund or apology. So if that's how they treat their customers then they should loose them. Old oils are harmful and yuk tasting. I know the difference.

Ordered chicken curry (CC), Rice, large pancake roll (LPR), for delivery. Told 30 to 40 mins delivery. It was delivered 55 minutes late, the CC was worryingly frothy and the chicken was not 'real' fresh chicken. The LPR appeared soggy, dark and tasted old and 'chewy' like it was either very old oil or it had been reheated. I rang to complain, calmly, clear. Suddenly her English was very poor so i repeated 3 times calmly. No apology or offer of refund even though it was inedible.. I think at these prices and previous custom they should REFUND and apologise. So WILL NOT use again.

The food is decent. It’s a tad expensive but I’m a sucker for their Chicken Satay skewers. Crispy Chilly Beef is good and their Chow Mein. I’m yet to have anything from here that isn’t great. There is still a large portion of the menu I’ve yet to try but so far with the roughly 5 different items I’ve had I’m greatly pleased with this place

Getting really fed up of ordering a takeaway and when the delivery driver gets here he has numerous problems with the cheap card reader and when he phones up Tim Ley can’t be understood.I’ve used Tim Ley for thirty years but unless they get things sorted it will be the last.

Staff are nice to have a quick chat. The satay chicken is to die for. Food in general is nice Expensive

Had Chinese from here and was just ok!!! Chips where not fully cooked, and everything just didn't have much taste apart from the chilli beef! Is are normal place but will try somewhere else for a while

Don’t get me wrong it is a very nice Chinese the best in the area but it’s a shame they stop doing the £6.50 special on a Friday Saturday, considering it doesn’t say it in the menu

Best Chinese in Burgess Hill for as long as I can remember.

Ordered at 5:20pm on a Saturday and food was delivered fresh and hot by 5:40pm. Quickest delivery I've had of anything, ever, and such friendly service. The food itself was fantastic - particularly the crispy chilli beef and the crispy pork. Not too greasy and perfectly cooked. A couple of pieces of bone were in one of the duck rolls, but I think I was just unlucky as the other one was fine - it happens. We will definitely be ordering again!

My favourite Chinese in burgess hill , it all depends on your favourite dishes are, but I’ve always been pleased with all of the orders I’ve made so far , and there’s been quite a few .

Not that good , pork ribs were so tough and dry , special curry was average , I rated this a 5 a few years ago ,but unfortunately its gone down hill

Placed an order and was told approx 40 min delivery. Waited over an hour, and still no food. Called again, only to be told food was just being cooked and would be another 30 mins. Waited another 30 mins and still no food...... so called AGAIN..... only to be told the food had been delivered and paid for...... not by me it wasn't...... then they said they couldn't find my order and that nothing has been cooked or sent out! Family of 6 now without any meal..... will NEVER use this place again....total shambles..... and they lied to me! My advice is go elsewhere!

The best Chinese takeaway we've had for years. So happy to have rediscovered this little gem of a Chinese takeaway.

Simply the best Chinese in the area. Great tasting food and presentation, and an open plan kitchen so you can watch them cook and prepare your mea, of which adds style and confidence. We've been a customer for years and they seem to get better each time we visit.

Lovely food the £6.50 special box can't be beaten

We had our first meal from Tim Ley delivered last night. It was fabulous first time around and there was so much we are having seconds tonight! Really great food and plenty of it, we only ordered our usual but it was far superior to other deliveries of chinese food we have had. It is not a restaurant but a collect or delivery only. Thank you Tim Ley.

Thought we'd try this after so many years as it was vrsp and still is ..in fact worse.. As our local was closed was reason we'd try to see if had changed its bad cooking..obviously still bad We only ordered large chips so was extremely Dissatisfied say least as they were over cooked and probably re heated over again that there was barely any potato left except for crispy nothingness! Wont bother again as they clearly can't cook properly..just chucked up poor quality food..

As our normal chippy was closed I thought I'd try this lot after so many years and frankly I see why as chips were overcooked or re heated then cooked again probably...disgusting to say least !too crispy in fact shouldn't even be crispy which is when onw knows they're over done...absolutely awful!don't bother...

Mixed Hors D'oeuvres - ribs were delicious, prawn toast were crispy and golden at not at all greasy, same story with the vegetable spring rolls and they had a good amount of filling, chicken skewers were perfectly cooked. Sweet and sour chicken balls were crispy but fluffy and again not greasy. Crispy shredded beef was the best I've ever had, the beef and veggies was a lovely texture and the sauce was spiced to perfection. OMG the pineapple fritters mmmmmmmmm

Ordered crispy pork, sweet and sour chicken balls, chicken chowmein and chopsuey today all are so delicious...highly recommended... chicken balls are crispy yet moist inside...most importantly food is not so oily...🥰

Great Chinese local fast good quality.

Nice little Chinese takeaway, used it a few times now. They have a pretty novel ordering system where you WhatsApp them your order, really good idea as then you've both got written receipt of items in case anything was missing. The food has so far been mostly pleasant, aside from an unfortunately grissly pork noodle dish a while ago, but that seemed to be an outlier. Standard issue with Chinese restaurants in that they have very little online presence, and would really benefit from being on UberEats/Deliveroo like the rest of the offerings in town.

We order most Saturday nights, usually between 8.30-9pm when the babies are finally in bed! Always quick delivery and delicious, fresh tasting food. We live in Bolnore Village Haywards Heath and there are a number of more local Chinese takeout options but not one of them is even close to being as good as New Tim Ley

After looking at various reviews for Chinese Takeaway we opted for New Tim Ley and we are so pleased we did as the food was fantastic. There were 6 of us eating and everyone really enjoyed as it tasted like authentic Chinese food. It took just under 45 mins to arrive on a Saturday night which I thought was really good and besides I think it's worth waiting for quality.

We go back to Tim Ley time and time again as we always find their food and service of the highest quality and value. We planned ahead for my birthday to enjoy their food again and thoroughly loved it. We had Singapore rice noodles, duck with ginger and spring onion, salt and chilli pepper ribs. Such a variety of delicious veg and protein. Loved every mouthful and lingering tastes. Thank you.

Pre lock down the food and service were great. Tonight 2hours 15 mins for delivery and the food was unusually disappointing. Duck was mainly fat and gristle. Duck rolls tasted bought in and not home made as menu states. Not great guys.

sorry guys but the fish & chips were not very nice . very greasy & chips were undercooked. i used to really like it herewith the massive portion of chips every week but it seems to hav e taken a turn for the worse

I recognised the lady straight away, it was nice to see the owners that I remember from when I lived in Burgess Hill return. This was always my Chinese back in those days and the food was tasty again. The best sweet and sour chicken balls I've had in years, anywhere. The chow mein was quite greasy, whilst still very tasty, which is the only reason it's not 5 stars on this occasion.

The best Chinese food in Burgess hill

I realised now I should have taken the Chinese back the same evening as it was just disgusting. The rice and crackers were nice but the chicken chow mien was just tasteless, the curried chicken had a really weird taste and was inedible and the chicken balls were bland and the sweet and sour sauce really thin and again tasteless. £18 completely wasted. I will not be back ever again and it’s such a shame as they are so lovely there.

They are so accommodating to our vegetarian diet and have such a quick delivery time. Not to forget the food is delicious!!!

Tim ley serves the best chinese in burgess hill. Have tried all the rest but they are the BEST. There are some bad reviews but these should definitely be ignored as stupid people try to damage reputations. Take my word... I don't lie this is the best takeaway in burgess hill.

Best Singapore rice noodle ever in my opinion with a good variety of crunchy vegetables and quality protein. Really nice mini fish and chips, excellent value and quality for a light lunch. Always welcoming and friendly service over the many years I have been going there.

The Tim Ley closed and became a Fish & Chip shop. Pleased to report it has now gone back to it's old self serving tasty Chinese food as it did before. Although slightly more expensive than other outlets in the area, the portion sizes make up for this.

Enjoyed every mouthful. Duck was superb and so too was the crispy beef. Delivery was quick and the staff were polite and friendly. I will definitely order from here again.

Originally Tim Key used to be a great place for your fish and chips and Chinese.

After Tim Ley went to just fish and chips the (Codfather) although it was ok our family and myself and so happy they are back to their original! No other place to get your take away i Burgess HIll will beat this place :D

Fish & chips at their best. Fish wasn't over greasy and cooked perfectly. Chips tasted amazing! Though they are closing for a couple of weeks as they are renovating. Think they are going to be doing Chinese as well as fish & chips.

Amazing food at grate prices can't go wrong. Their portion sizes are reasonable and their burgers are very filling. Would definitely recommend stopping in if your in the area

I ate here the other day and it was hands down the best fish and chip in have had in a long time. A nice thick piece of cod and plenty of chips for such a grate price. friendly staff always up for a chat .I'm definitely coming back here.

Chinese meals - The texture of the meat is horrible like it has been boiled and the chicken dishes still have skin on. Fish and Chips are very greasy.

Friendly, quick service, fresh food, good size portions, decent value.
