Best Chinese takeaway in Sussex.

We have used chi foo for over 15 years and it's always been the best food. BUT...we ordered for home delivery yesterday, the food arrives 20 minutes late and semi warm because the driver couldn't find our address, which means he's probably new because we've had home delivery many times. The food - this has completely changed and not for the better. The CCM tasted like it had been cooked on gravy, the S&S Chic Balls were pappy, the sauce tasted like a packet mix, the ribs were rubbery and tough, it was only half a bag of prawn crackers, and the crispy shredded beef was anything but crispy with far too much spring onion and not a chilli in sight. Plus to add to the rubbish food the prices have gone up by about £2 per item. Sorry but the days of using Chi Foo are over. It's now too expensive and terrible food.

Unreal food with fantastic and generous staff , Couldn't recommend enough .

We have always been ordering Chinese from chifoo burgess hill at a reasonable price and lovey food but since they updated there menu the curry and probably other items have massively decreased in taste and not as high quality as it used to be and the prices have gone up to Unfortunately we won’t be getting one again unless we are really really desperate

I have been using Chifoo for several years now after trying other places in Burgess Hill. I don't know why I haven't left a review before because this place always impresses.. The food is quality, service is impressive and the feel of a friendly family business always is welcoming. Occasionally I pop in to order but I use their delivery service more often now and the food and always received ahead of time. My wife swears by the crispy duck... The best anywhere...

First time ever trying here, as we'd heard the chef from Castle Inn was now working there. We loved the food there so were hoping this would be good. Not disappointed in the slightest, the food was great with lovely flavour and not greasy at all. Would happily drive to here from Henfield again.

Service was good and fast. Food was bland and dry.

I wish I had taken a photo... quite honestly the WORST spring rolls I've ever had. EVER! Deep fried in some crazy oil soaked batter. There was even a pond of oil in the bag. I love spring rolls, but not from this place. We've ended up throwing half away! I'm sorry to say but it's put me off trying anything else from here. Good luck

Chifoo is my go to for take away Chinese food in burgess hill. I prefer to make my order and collect in person. Its so much faster to do this and the food is always cooked quickly and hot. The chips are superb and a great addition to any if the dishes.

Unfortunately all 3 separate households that ate on Saturday night from this Chinese are now unwell.

Best Chinese in Sussex (yes I've done the research!) Every Saturday my grandmother and I order and bar one mix up with mushrooms (that they fixed in 5 mins) it has been gorgeous. It seems they've upgraded their phones too as we get through faster - just shows how popular they are! :)

Never had a bad chinese from here. Always hot, always fresh. Its our go to.

I've been a chef for many years and travelled through asia and understand this type of cuisine. This restaurants food is not good at all. I can promise you most of what they serve is out of a bottle or can. Very little fresh ingredients. They just put their prices up and they should actually drop the prices for the garbage they cook. I can guarantee you the food is not fresh. I know yesterday's rice when I taste it. The positive comments are obviously from people who don't realise how dodge this place it. On a lighter note. They are very friendly!! But I'd rather unfriendly and fresh tasty food. In the picture try and spot the meat and veg in amongst the tinned chestnuts and bamboo shoots. The sauce was watered down out of a bottle also. Worst Kung Po I've ever tasted.

I phoned through our choice of dishes. Each one was checked with the chef with helpful comments. The food arrived on time. Very tasty. Our Malaysian friend thought the sweet and sour prawns and vegetable curry were excellent. Recommended.

We’ve been eating from here for absolutely years but even as a fully British person who isn’t well versed in any Asian cuisine, I can tell it’s very poor quality. It’s not authentic it’s just oily, un-fresh and poorly seasoned, if seasoned at all. Only thing I can taste from their food is salt and oil. We love the owners of this shop very dearly but at lot of the time we’re left still craving Chinese food after we’ve eaten it, just tastes like a uni student with a bag of Tesco value rice and noodles fried it, added salt and labelled it Chinese. Miss the old days where they put freshly chopped up scallions (Green onion) in the egg fried rice, noodles weren’t dry but saturated in oil with clearly pre frozen veg. There’s just literally zero flavour to the food, it’s like they’ve given up on their own gorgeous cuisine. They’re amazing people but really need to delve deeper into seasoning, freshness and flavours.

Over and hour late with devliery, ignored all calls, DO NOT USE

Family have used this Chinese for years, not really sure why as the service is often very poor. Food is fair for a take away. Awful service for instance order placed this evening and was told delivery would be 50 minutes to an hour, after 80 minutes called back to see where the delivery was and it was waiting on a driver (no apologies, just told they were busy), waited another 15 minutes and still nothing. Ended up cancelling the order as if the food had been waiting that ling to be delivered it wouldn't have been great. Sadly not the first time we've had this problem with a delivery either!

I had the misfortune of enjoying the dreadful customer service at chifoo on Friday evening. The young assistant was polite and did her best on what I understand to be her first night working without any training however the manager was plain rude. I had ordered and paid and was waiting patiently for my food when the manager appeared and asked the young assistant what a piece of paper on the counter was.when told it was my order she very abruptly asked the young lady if I had paid. She was told I had but this not being good enough demanded to know when I had paid despite being told I had just paid she then shouted across the shop " have you paid" no excuse me no hint of politeness. Despite me assuring her that I had paid she then shouted at me "when you pay" at this point the only thing that stopped me asking for my money back and leaving was the promise of noodles and crispy beef which when they arrived were acceptable otherwise it would have been one star. If your going to deal with the public some manners would be a good idea.

A tasty meal for one. As usual, far too much to eat comfortably. Good value.

Was served totally inedible spare ribs. When I made a complaint the next time I called there the chef and the elderly woman serving were both totally disinterested and seemed to imply that I was not telling the truth. Not recommended and I will not be going there again.

One of the best Chinese placed I've been too, definitely the best in the area. All the staff are very friendly and they provide a quick delivery service.

Ordered a delivery. Virtually the same as we have done over the years. Pancake rolls were less than half their normal size and hard. Kung po chicken had so much chilli i had to stop eating and throw it away. It took over an hour for my mouth to calm down. I rang up about the pancake rolls and was told it was a new chef. Could have done better if I'd bought a Tesco takeaway so won't be ordering from here any more!

All meals had barely any meat just veg! Egg fired rice burnt! Chicken balls consisted of dough! Lastly I found hair in it! Completely disgusted!

Placed a large order 2 hours before delivery. Added to it an hour later. All food turned up hot, very tasty and on time. Perfect. Thank you Chifoo.

I have just eaten my first order from Chifoo. Very tasty & good sized portions. Cheaper than my usual Chinese. I think this will be my new Chinese takeaway. Oh & they are open on Sunday Closed Tuesday. I would highly recommend this takeaway.

The food is always fantastic, and the portions are big enough for 2! Staff are very friendly, service is great and delivery is quick & cheap. Our Chinese always comes from here.
