China Brasserie in Mid Sussex

We had a take away this evening and whilst the curries and chow mien were satisfactory, the char sui Pork was extremely disapointing - it was very burnt and chewy and didn't have any flavour. Had to leave it and steal a bit of curry sauce! Will not be returning.

We only ever have the food delivered but it is always first class. It arrives quickly and is always really hot.

The food is always always delicious. Good portions. We always order more than needed, so we can feast the following day.

Great food, good portion size, fast delivery, friendly staff ... Great menu with comprehensive choices, The staff are always willing to recommend stuff.. Great personal service What more would you want awesome

Thought we would try somewhere different. Cant fault the phone service or the delivery man, delivery man very happy and friendly. However we found the main dishes very greasy and watery and lacking in flavour. The chicken curry just tasted of gravy. On the plus side the crispy duck was delicious but probably wont use again.

Like the last review, I’ve eaten here for years and enjoyed the food but somethings changed. Food is poor and when I called the manager tells me it’s always been that way and I’ve ordered the wrong thing. Shame to see this place drop in standards, I won’t be back. Have been a regular eat in customer at this restaurant for many years and always found the food to be high quality and the staff friendly and efficient. Was there last night and what a difference, so disappointing. We felt rushed, the starter order was wrong when it arrived, staff tried to clear our table while we were still eating. Overall feeling of being in the way such a shame won’t be returning

I used to order from a different Chinese in Haywards Heath but decided to try this one again. We have since ordered from here around 3 times, and no word of a lie, our food has been delivered in 10 minutes tops.If you want quick delivery and yummy food (with free prawn Crackers), I do recommend :)I don't normally write reviews but today our food arrived in 8 minutes and that is pretty impressive!

This place has gone down hill over the last 3-4 years. It is often busy but needs to re-find its excellence.

My husband, daughter and I ate here recently. The food was quite good-crispy seaweed, crispy duck with pancakes, three chicken mains and two different rice. Service was straightforward but monosyllabic. If you don't like waiters fussing over you every few minutes, enquiring if everything is all right, you'd enjoy it here! The only words spoken were a warning about how hot the plates were and an enquiry about whether we wanted more drinks. Not surly, but not welcoming either. I can understand why some reviews are negative, but we thought it was ok without being at all exciting or special. For a straightforward meal, fine, but if you're looking to celebrate or for more of a dining experience, probably best to go elsewhere.

A fairly basic set menu that suited our needs on the night. Food OK but nothing special. Have had better meals elsewhere

Went for dinner with family including my wheel chair bound mum. The place was like a furnace and were all sweating. There were two fans - one small fan with no air flowing from it which was two tables away from us and an industrial fan which was directed at the owner with his guest. When we mentioned that it was very hot he said he cannot please everyone. His behaviour was extremely unprofessional and rude. Will never go there again

Tonight you just lost 2 regular customers with your disgusting attitude. I have tolerated the managers attitude for some time now as this Chinese is convient to me. I regular go here and the manager is very abrupt just last week as I waited for my take away I had to sit and listen to the manger shouting at his staff about losing money on a deliver as the young boy must of offered free deliver by mistake to a post code too far. The way he was speaking to his staff was awful, So unprofessional and the amount of times my son was made to feel very un welcomed so he would never go in again. Tonight by mistake I rang the wrong China brassiere number and when my son went in to collect the order the manager was so rude in front of people to him . Telling him “ No order ! Go and get it from where you ordered it from “ when he explained his mum me ! Rang he said nope so my son said could he please order it again from here then he said no go and get it from your other shop ! He came out to the car so upset he is only 16 so I went in and told him how I thought his attitude is disgraceful and how could he not accept an order and to speak to a child in this way embarrassing him in front of people is horrible. The food is so not up to scratch feel it’s heated up very rude staff and a disgrace as a manager of all the times I use this place I’m done ! After now reading through your reviews I’m surprised you are still open . You seriously need to take a look at your manners and customer service .. Really disgraced by the manager ! Not acceptable ! If a customer wants to place an order regardless of me ordering it from another restaurant you should be happy to accept that order then that’s up to me to sort my mistake with the other restaurant but to actually tell him no and go and get it from “ your other shop as you said is unacceptable “ go and retrain in customer service I’m sure many agree on your appalling attitude ..

Our favourite Chinese eatery had closed down over a year ago. We were all craving a Chinese so we decided to try out this one. Have seen it in-passing but paid it no mind. I am really glad we gave it a try Because the food was delicious, portions are big and the service is good. I would have given it five stars but they didn’t have a high chair for my two year old son, found this odd for a family restaurant to not cater for toddlers but I loved the fact that under 4’s eat for free( on the all you can eat only). Definitely worth a try and will be going back soon.

3 of us turned went for a meal here last night as our usual Chinese restaurant was shut, as was our second choice. It was a Monday evening, and no surprise we could park outside, and we were the only ones in the restaurant.

Very unpleasant take way from there tonight. Soggy, stale batter on prawns. Stir fry mixed vegetables , all onion pre cooked rice and unpalatable pork in the sweet and sour. Will not be ordering again. They need to match the quality of the dishes to the prices they charge.

Great food will use again nice surrounding.If you enjoy chinese food you will not be disappointed and at a reasonable price.

Seldom do i review, only if exceptionally bad or good. Thankfully tonight was EXCELLENT. Simple order of Smoked chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls, Chicken & Mushrooms and Special Fried Rice (£23 total with Prawn crackers). No picture i’m afraid as could wait to plate it. Delivered under the 30 minutes quoted. Have never seen chicken balls that big, size of small breast! The smoked chicken was moist, fresh and very tasty. Whilst the chicken & mushroom looked anaemic, the flavour was excellent. Rice was light and well cooked. Can not fault the meal, other than to say i will be eating it for next 2-3 days with my wife, portion size was more than generous. So glad my normal Chinese takeaway was busy (web-site failure too), the other not open on Sundays. They included a menu, that is likely to be heavily used. Thanks guys, I will be back!!

This was recommended by a friend so I rang up to book. Friend had already mentioned that we might be coming along so when I gave my name it was nice to hear that my name had been remembered! Staff attentive but not too so, food was delicious, couldn’t fault it, and for me that’s a biggie! Main man was excellent, chatty and polite. We will be back for sure, they also do a takeaway service which was very popular, and, AND they deliver out to our village, bonus!!

...surprise, came late the lights were off but the quickly made a little something as a take away and it was really tasty...due to their kindness I went again the next day to seat in their restaurant and they were as nice quick and the food as good as the previous meal.

Wanted to review after our 1st takeaway as it was simply delicious, but decided to wait till we'd ordered again. We've now had 3 and each time it's been the same, yummy, hot, good portions, and delivered very speedily. Smoked chicken is the nuts, my favourite. Definitely would recommend!

I ordered a Chinese take away on a Friday night, I was told it would be delivered up to 45 minutes time, but it came in 30 minutes. Very impressed, I had not ordered from here before but would defiantly recommend and order again.

The food was great. Especially the smoked chicken, Singapore noodles and shredded chilli chicken. Delivery was fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend. Make sure to pop in for their all you can eat buffet too - it is all cooked fresh to order every time you order in the restaurant and is a fab experience.

Just finished a takeaway.. Pork char su like eating dry leather. Kung po chicken millimetres thick, dry and the sauce was nowhere near kung po. Seaweed.. Container half full. Prawn toast.. Saturated in oil. Even the prawn crackers were stale. You would be better flushing the nearly £30 down the drain.

Comimos aquí para una fiesta de cumpleaños 16 con un grupo grande. La comida fue rápida y realmente deliciosa. Buenas porciones de tamaño medio. La opción en el menú establecido es por supuesto más limitado que el menú completo, pero todo el mundo era bien...

Fantástico todo lo que pueda comer chino, fresco a la orden. Especialmente el pollo satay de pollo ahumado, tostadas, gambas, rollitos de primavera y algas marinas! Entrantes son tan buenas que normalmente no tienen un principal. Está bastante bien de precio.

Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra llevar esta noche. Servicio rápido, la comida era excelente, el personal educado, sin duda ordenar desde aquí.

Dined here with husband and friend and was pleasantly surprised to see the restaurant was busy as it was a Tuesday! Service was friendly and efficient, food was hot and very tasty, and we were not rushed. A most enjoyable experience!

The waitress was unfriendly to the point of being agressive. She barked orders at everyone without a flicker of a smile.The food was highly dosed in salt and certain dishes dripped oil. Others were liberallly coloured with a glowing red sauce. To be fair, this may represent the standard of UK Chinese food. Not enjoyable.The beers were cold, well done there.

Have dined and had take aways from here for over 6 years and have never had a bad meal. All you can eat menu is varied and very good value.

Awful!It was absolutely freezing in side, therefore everyone had to wear coats. The meals were bland and some of our prawns were rock hard and inedible. When we went to complain to the staff, one man was rude and had attitude.

Had a takeaway last night the worst ever . Tasteless and insipid and had 3 missed calls by the. manager to say they calculated the delivery wrong I had to pay driver another £2.00 to get my take away ( even though the takeaway was £50.00) Don't think were be parting with any money with them again .

The China Brasserie is our local restaurant, and having previously dined in and felt we were intruding, we were very nervous for our visit last month with 12 members of our family.But I'm pleased to give a positive review for the staff at the restaurant. We were so well looked after from ordering, to serving and having the drinks topped up. The staff spoilt the 2 young children in our family and we were all made to feel very relaxed to create a fun atmosphere. The food was good and if you have only ever got take away we would recommending to eat in. Thanks for a great night.

Having read the reviews on here you can't blame me for being somewhat nervous about coming here for dinner. They are clearly popular for takeaways as the phone seemed to ring non stop. The waitress was pleasant enough however she did say she had only been there a week so perhaps the reviews are read. However the two gents in there couldn't smile at all which is always disappointing. The food was good but the menu wasn't as varied as their former competitor Tai Kar which has now closed. Would we come back, probably not which is a shame as Chinese restaurants are limited around Haywards Heath

took along time for them to acknowledge us.service was poor.food was terrible and had to wait quite a bit for food to be served each time.we had the buffet.ribs were OK.but we were not given hardly any ofthem.i did not eat much at all.they wanted us to keep buying drink.which was expensive.I had not been out on my birthday for a long time. I was very upset and felt like crying.I will never go to that restaurant ever again.

went to eat here yesterday and upon arriving at the restaurant asked for a table for 4, waitress just pointed at table and walked away , no hello or speaking at all. Then came back and slung 4 menus on the table and walked away again without speaking or any acknowledgement. Upon this we walked out. Not suprised there was only 1 table of 2 in there if thats how they treat their customers !!! Never again.

We went here for a meal for our anniversary. It was a Saturday evening, we have been before and had a good experience and we also have had takeaways. We were very disappointed food was not good service terrible there was no atmosphere at all staff looked like they didn't want to be there,the girl behind the counter was on her phone the whole time we were there.and as for the horrible fish tank it either needs to go or certainly cleaned up.

Ordered from here a couple of times and the food was all very tasty. Particularly enjoyed the pork dumplings. Delivery was also quicker than expected.

A regular here for their takeaways. The food is great and definitely one of the best in haywards heath. The only problem is the service. Not so good even on the phone sometimes they are quite sharp. The food is great though.

Good veggie options. Lush tofu. Nice staff. Decor is a bit tired and waitress was playing on her phone which wasn't cool. Overall, good value and would go again.

An interesting evening. The Food was quite tasty and we picked a composite choice which came with extremely large portions which we failed to finish.The wine was very reasonable and good for the price.The menu was extensive but expensive compared to the composite menu if you chose a number of individual dishes as an alternative.All in all, good value for the money.

Same old food as you would expect in any town in the UK. Lots of deep fried meat and gloopy sauce. Their set menu at £12.60 per person was very keenly priced for the amount of food provided. Tasted the same as every other cheap and cheerful Chinese restaurant. The service was quiet and attentive. Absolutely no complaints there. We won't rush to go back

We usually have takeaways from China Brasserie and very good they are too but this time we found ourselves visiting the restaurant instead (around 1945 on a Saturday) It is relatively small and we had to pass through those picking up take-aways first. Service was Ok - not the speediest. The portions were perhaps a little on the small side but the food was of reasonable quality. I wasn't offered any sauce or accompaniments to my spring rolls which were served up without any effort at presentation. 10% service automatically added on. In summary, not great on the "experience" side and we had the feeling they concentrate more on take away and delivery.

Had take away from here last month that was dry and bland but was good service and quick to come so thought would try again however this was a massive mistake! Food took 1hr 40mins to come, was stone cold! 3 items where missing but we were still charged for them, food was bland dry and chewy. Would not recommend at all. Only time will be ringing again is to order dog food!

Was going to tai kar but forgot they were shut on a Monday so thought we would try this restaurant didn't realise they do the same eat as much as you like for about £12 and found the food really good , we only done each course once and came out pleasantly stuffed bottle of wine and beer £44

My husband and I usually order a takeaway from the China Brasserie as it's one of a few acceptable Chinese takeaways in Haywards Heath. Tonight I ordered sweet and sour chicken hong kong style and when it arrived it tasted awful - I've had the dish before but tonight it had a very chemical taste to it. When I rang up to ask if I could change my dish I didn't get any kind of apology and was met with a rather abrupt attitude. I was also informed that the sauce wasn't made in the restaurant (seeming to be an excuse). I was told I could order another dish but I would have to wait over an hour for it to be delivered unless I came to pick it up, and that I would have to pay an extra £2.50 for my dish as it cost more. I went to pick up my other dish as I didn't fancy waiting over an hour and again I was met with not a nice attitude and no kind of apology. Consequently, when I got home my replacement dish, which was crispy duck pancakes, also tasted disgusting, like it had been heated up from the night before. I only managed to make 3 pancakes with the duck, when they provide you with 6 pancakes.I am never one to complain, but I feel the service and food I received tonight was unacceptable. We won't be going there again.

I ordered a takeaway, the service was excellent, the food was prepared very well, and very tasty and hot. Definitely the best Chinese in Haywards Heath.

We have been here twice now for a sit down meal and both times have found it to be acceptable, on this visit the restaurant only had our table and a table of four younger people eating but two or three takeaways were served while we were there given that it was a Tuesday evening may well explain this. We went for the eat as much as you like for a set fee concept and to be fair the food was presentable hot and quite tasty. The waitress was attentive and polite, the one thing I don't understand is the rule of once your starters have finished and you have ordered a main you cannot return to the starters, for some all you may want is starters so if others in your party order a main course that's your meal over? Farcical really.

I went with my family for my birthday and I must say I wasn't overly impressed. The service was okay, the staff seemed friendly enough. However the food was quite the let down. It came out warm not hot and not hot plates were provided to keep it warm so it went cold quite quickly. It was overly greasy and the foods that should have been spicy, wasn't.Overall I won't be going back in a hurry.

Excellent food, great service, often go out to the China brasserie for a meal as I find it the best value and service in town.

Had a takeaway meal with friends was over an hour late, was granted complimentary meal next time we ordered to then be told I have to pay and the driver was even disgusted with the outcome and he said 'if it was upto him he would give it as he knew how long we waited last time'. Spoke with manager for him to be so rude and arrogant to me! We have been loyal customers for over 2 years now and that's how you get treated!

I am 71 years old and having lived in Hong Kong and experienced Shanghai and Peking I consider myself to be well versed on the quality of Chinese food. My wife and I last visited this restaurant about ten years ago and after last night we will never visit it again. The food was extremely bland looking and totally tasteless. It was very difficult to differentiate between the dishes presented to our table.The duck was obviously reheated from a previous evening. It may well have been left over from a previous meal!!The staff are obviously in need of some formal training and no effort was made to make us welcome at all. There was only one other couple in the restaurant and I would not be surprised if no-one else entered for the rest of evening.I had not read any of the previous reviews prior to my submission. This was regretful on my part as I could have saved myself the cost of this valueless meal.

Had a take away this week - service was good - fast delivery and polite staff on the phone. We didn't enjoy the food this time. Greasy, heavy and a it tasteless. Starting to loose faith in Chinese food in HH having disregarded this place, canton chef and canton kitchen all this year!

We took our daughter for a meal here and where greeted by someone who we think was staff but was dressed in a big warm coat no uniform we sat ourselves and were given menus still only 3 words had been said I am so disappointed with this place the food was good the service was awful no help no chat and just dumped food on table I hope it closes down as the service was appallingly

Used this place several times but this was our last time! Crispy means soggy?! Rice tasteless. Curry tasted like a polystyrene box. Never again.

I will never ever go here again. The food is absolutely tasteless. their price are a joke too. Please save your money and go elsewhere. I can't see how they are still open.

First time at this Restaurant, read reviews and mostly were good - had a few not so good but that is standard. Personally we found the Service and Quality of Food excellent - they even ran out of Cointreau and went and collected a new bottle [now that is good customer service] - Well Done Crispy Salt & Chilli Soft Shell, Grilled Pork Dumplings with Vinegar dip and Seafood Lettuce Wrap [with a touch of Soy sauce] for Starters is an excellent way to start the evening, Salt and Pepper Lobster was professionally cooked and presented followed by Cantonese Duck, Steamed Scallops in Shell with Garlic and some with Black Bean Sauce along with Steamed King Prawns all accompanied by Wine from a good wine list Well Done To The Owners and Manager. As you gather we liked it a lot and will go back when we are in the area. By Lightning

Food was actually really good but the member of staff that was working really needs training.We arrived for dinner and she came over, didn't say hello or anything, we said ermmm table for 2 please, she turned round and played with the menus then walked over and threw the menu down on a table and walked back to the bar without saying a single word. It's not even as if they were busy, there was only 2 people in there the whole time we were there.Other than that the food was good.

We chose this restaurant especially for our New Years Eve meal and quickly realised what a mistake we'd made.The only 2 staff members there were rude, took their time to offer us drinks and come and take our orders and when we finally did get to order our food, it took over 40 minutes to come out to us!The food itself was of poor quality and was pretty tasteless!I pray we don't get sick from it!I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

Friday night 10.30.. Only be couple in the restaraunt. I ordered a pork dish which when we got home I saw looked like the pork was old, overcooked and very dry. It could have been recooked a couple of times. It was also fatty. Revolting. I now realise they have a two star hygiene rating which was not displayed.

Very rude staff - not helpful - food average and tasteles - won't visit again - I would like to experience a proper Chinese because this was not it .

It was my first and last time. The service wasn't good at all which I was hoping would be the only issue. However the food wasn't the worst I have tasted. It did however give me a fair few hours on the toilet. It was like bleeding a rusty radiator 12 hours on and I still cannot fart with confidence. I would not recommend this to anyone.

We've used China Brasserie a number of times over the past few years and it has always been good. And for some reason I have not written reviews for any of those times. But here I am writing one to cover our last visit which was undoubtedly an off night.Ordered take away on a Friday and that was our first mistake. It took well over an hour to arrive and it wasn't terribly hot. The Singapore Noodles, which are usually very reliable were not this time. The spring rolls were doughy and quite considerably undercooked as well. The whole order just did not seem up to the usual standard.So it is quite unfair of me to be writing a less than positive review on a place that has been quite positive for us in the past. My sense is that is was vey busy in the restaurant and the delivery orders had taken a back seat that particular evening. While we were disappointed on this particular instance, we would give them another try - just maybe not on a Friday!

We've been here a few times and always had nice food. Each time we have visited the restaurant has been very quiet with just a few customers so the atmosphere is hardly lively. Not certain why as the food is fine no problems with the service, price etc. Take away has also been pretty good.

A great take away or home delivery. Prompt service and good quality. try the Chicken Sweet & Sour Balls along with Shredded Chilli Chicken. Would recommend as we have not had a bad one in twenty orders over the past couple of years.The restaurant is small and has limited atmosphere.

We have had a couple of meals delivered from the China Brasserie in the past but the one we had recently was very poor.The meat was very dry, almost to the point that it was too difficult to eat and all of the sauce from one of our dishes had leaked out completely into the bag.We cannot comment on what they meals are like if you eat in the restaurant as we have never done this, hopefully they are much better?

We are here as our usual place was closed but the quality was brilliant. Boiling hot food and lots of it. Very nice staff and a great price. Will definitely visit again.
