We enjoyed a lovely take away from here. Food was delicious & the staff friendly.

Perfectly adequate but far from special. Pleasant service but the food fell a bit flat. Hassocks seems to be ok with bland mediocrity in its food options and this fits in.

My wife and I opted for Fixed Menu D believing that the price of £31 was for two people. We had no issue with the service and the food was provided in copious quantity. The quality, however, was variable with some dishes (like the shredded duck) being served lukewarm. The sizzling beef was certainly sizzling but the meat was not of the best quality. The sweet and sour prawn dish was excellent but the sauce in the other dishes coagulated shortly after arrival at the table. I appreciate the difficulties of getting the various dishes right at the same time but, given that we paid £62, the whole ensemble represented poor value for money. Maybe choosing à la carte would have been a better option but, given the circumstances, I certainly cannot recommend the set menu that we chose.

Myself & my family have tried eating here a good couple of times but the food is completely tasteless & dry. It lacks any flavour at all, the rice is always partially undercooked & just tastes like plain boiled rice, the chicken is very low quality & gritty. It’s a shame being the only Chinese takeaway in Hassocks but their food is completely in edible for my family. I hope in the future seasoning & flavour can be added along with a higher quality of food. Please & thank you 🙏🏽

Nice meal in the restaurant. Crispy chilli beef and the chicken balls were some of the best I've ever had from a Chinese. Both types of chicken satay dishes didn't have the nicest sauces.

Had as a takeaway. Hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour, just very thin. Pancake roll was pretty much bean sprouts with very few tiny bits of chicken and no other vegetables. Tempura king prawn were greasy Thai Chicken Chow Mein. Supposed to be spicy hot. No heat to it at all. Kung-Po Tofu, no trace of spice either, just very sweet. Yeung Chow rice, undercooked. Roast pork Chinese style flavourless and tough. Lemon Chicken was dry Prawn Crackers, excellent, thankfully All the dishes seem to be sweet and bulked up with the cheapest ingredients. No heat to the spicy dishes. In all, a disastrous meal that was not worth the cost and certainly not as described.

Disappointing take away tonight. Great Duck but everything else terrible, crispy beef soggy and smelt weird, chicken chow mien dry and re heated. Egg fried rice ok!

Love love love this resturant! Staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. It is a little pricey but you deffinatly get what you pay for. Also regarding takeouts they are always quick. Only negative is they don't deliver.

Thai noodles: tasteless, nothing thai about it. , just a pile of noodles with a few pieces of soja and green things. Kung po beef, not caramelised, not spicy and NO cashew nuts. Fried sweet and sour shrimps with no cooked veggies and pineapple. Did they change chef? We threw it away after a few bites. Extremely disappointed, never again. Shame, we live there.

First time we have tried this takeaway. Good portions and clearly freshly cooked. Tempura vegetables and satay chicken was very good as was the mushroom rice. But but disappointed with the crispy beef.

Revisited Tim Fia Chinese restaurant in Hassocks recently, the food was great, back to the excellent standard it was before, with a few added extras such as Tia dishes.

1st time going here and have to say I was impressed. It was very nice

Food good, service ok, plates were not very hot, 2 young waiters who left a table dirty for at least 30 minutes after diners had left. Not very nice to look at. More and better training for these 2 lads is needed, however they were polite. Noticed to that their aprons were very dirty

We had the set menu C. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. Service was good although it was quiet as we went on a Sunday night. Would recommend

Tim Fai is a great place to order food if its one of those days when you just can't cook at home. The range of food is quite good for a restaurant of its type and service is always efficient. I have often had takeways and the food is piping hot and well packaged. Plenty to spare even for those with a big appetite. The only downside is eating in the restaurant which is rather dowdy and dated. What a transformation could be made with some investment - if it could be transformed into a slice of old China with all its mysteries and charms I would have no doubt that it would be full every night as there are so many people in Hassocks and surrounds both with money to spend and looking for an authentic dining experience. Nevertheless friends and I stay loyal and its still a good place to frequent.

Flavourless and dry. I thought the food had been cooked earlier in the day and then just heated up. Thai green curry was awful no flavour at all, it went straight in the bin. Chow mien was dry and quickly followed the Thai curry. Sorry I don’t like making bad reviews, I Hope that this is constructive in making it a better experience for those who dare to follow on behind.

After staying at a friends house closeby, we decided to get a local takeaway from which they said to try Tim Fai as it offered a selection of Thai and Chinese dishes. I love Thai food and this wasn’t anywhere near Thai food. It was rubber chicken drowned in coconut milk! All the chicken was rubber. It was a waste of money, totally disappointed. I wouldn’t EVER!!! recommend this restaurant.

After living in the village since the early 80s, I have only recently started using this restaurant and I ask myself why it did not do so sooner. Excellent food, friendly service and a lot closer than a drive into Burgess Hill.

It is not your “typical” Chinese restaurant.Food is excellent, tasty and reasonably priced, our meal for 2, with wine and teas, £65.Decor, cleanliness, and ambiance will not be to all tastes, it is rather basic. More of a take away with tables, than a restaurant that serves take aways.Staff are friendly, although not very attentive, in so far as we had to ask 3 times for a jug of water. There is space for 10 tables, and I would hope the debris on the floor was from earlier on in the evening, rather than a previous day? Would definitely return for a take away.

Had a meal which we did not have a reservation. The restaurant is very modest but relaxed. The service was good and the food very well cooked and tasty. They di a takeaway service and this is very busy so you have people coming and going all the time. Not a big issue just a distraction. Well worth a visit.

Been to collect my orders and 3 out of 4 times they got my orders wrong. Had to wait for it to be correct. They repeat order back to you and still get it wrong . Rung up tonight and no one bothered answering phone. Not using these again. Spend my money elsewhere. See ya!!!!!!

We have enjoyed many takeaways from the Tim Fai in the past and fancied treating two of our daughters to a sit down meal in the restaurant.

Quick n tasty take away on the way home ,friendly staff ticks all the boxes . Have had food in house before and never has this Chinese ever let me down a must if you are passing through Hassocks

Nice food but the wait was very long

Saturday night. Very hot. Been out all day. Couldn't be bothered to cook. My partner then found this great Chinese takeaway which I didn't even know existed. And what a find!! Food was deliciously cooked, piping hot, and very reasonable. The chicken satay was the best I'd ever had. A really wonderful restaurant.

We chose to take away, ordered by phone and it was ready by the time we got there. Thoroughly enjoyed, helpful staff

I have now started to use Tim Fai as our chosen Chinese takeaway. The food is very good! Probably the best chinese around. The portions are very large. The prices are reasonable. would highly recommend.

Slap bang in the middle of Hassocks is this really excellent place with every possible dish that you know you love in Chinese cuisine. Last time we ordered in and it was ready when they said and the portions were generous as well as delicious. When we ate at the restaurant a few months ago it was just as good. As in most sensible places in England you can pay with a card. The locals in Hassocks and Keymer are lucky to have such a place!

By far the best Chinese food I've had locally. All the dishes we have tried actually taste of the ingredients they're made of instead of the gloopy stuff that is often found at Chinese take aways. Quite a lot more expensive to eat in. If they delivered we would have have their food every week! Hint Hint Tim Fai!

Not bad at all, food very good, young staff effient & friendly. No hot plate to keep dishes hot a bit weird but overall quite impressive

We eat here on a regular basis and I thought it was about time I wrote a review. The staff at Tim Fai are always really friendly and polite, they work so hard. It can sometimes get very busy with takeaways but it doesn’t seem to effect service in the restaurant. There is a good range of drinks at a reasonable price. The food is always splendid. Their set meals are excellent value and the food is really good. Highly recommended any day of the week.

The best Chinese Takeaway our family have had for a long time. All the dishes we ordered were well cooked from quality ingredients and still hot when we returned home. Complimentary prawn crackers. Service was good and takeaway ready to collect in 25 minutes.

We got a takeaway as we were staying for a long weekend in the area and it was delicious. Better than the Chinese we have in our normal local area.

We opted for a set meal for two and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were very pleasant and appropriately attentive and I have to say, the chicken and sweetcorn soup was the best we have ever had. Not a flashy environment, but a pleasant visit there and suited our needs.

I have not visited Tim Fai for many years and during that time the ownership has changed. But, the quality and value have not. Still excellent Chinese food at very reasonable prices.

The food is good but I would never sit in to eat. It could be made to look lovely in there which would draw in many more people. So I only use it for takeaway.

Food is awesome we were camping and fancied some nice food and boy we were not disappointed will be going back next time we're are near.

He comido aquí varias veces, y cada vez ocurre lo mismo - la gente llegaba a recoger o pedir comida para llevar parecen tener prioridad. . . . . El personal (dos chicas encantadoras en un sábado por la noche) son ridículamente agobiada y por desgracia la gente de pie al hasta esperando para recoger los huéspedes parecen trump en las mesas. Sé que no debería seguir volviendo, pero tengo esta esperanza horneados que alquilar una persona extra para ser 'en los teléfonos 'en la concurrida por las noches.

No he comido en este restaurante, pero si la comida para llevar es algo para ir por dudo que decepcionará cuando lo hagamos. Muy sabroso y no excesivamente caro. Altamente recomendado!

No puedo recomendar lo suficiente! El limón el pollo es para morirse, obviamente recién preparado y no amarillo! Es realmente delicioso y muy bien cocinado. Tenemos una toma de distancia de Tim Fai más noches de viernes. Deliciosos!

Si estás en la zona (como yo, allí durante la semana de negocios) este ofrece una comida para llevar. Sabroso, muy bien preparado, mi único consejo es que el pollo satays eran sólo bien, y no es tan genial como el resto! Sin duda recomendable.

Este restaurante ha cambiado de manos a principios de este año, pero aún mantiene buena comida y buen servicio. Cinco de nosotros pedimos para llevar y quedamos muy satisfechos con la comida. Excelente pato y platos de gambas.

This is a really good Chinese takeaway. Great flavours and a good selection of dishes. The set menus are a good choice too. One of the best Chinese restaurants and a great local takeaway.

First time for me in many many years that food has tasted genuinely fresh from a Chinese takeaway. Very impressed with the quality of the cooking too - salted pepper chicken excellent (the batter was outstanding), as was the Hong Kong style black pepper chicken (the pepper packs a punch of heat). House special rice had some excellent meat ingredients, really large prawns. This will become our new local even though it's a bit of a drive.

For a local Chinese, all good. Service not intrusive, but attentive. Food great, kids loved it. Good value in a low key surrounding. Will go again.

Saturday night early birthday treat, and the food was faultless. We opted for one of the set meals for 2 a bottle of wine and a couple of cold tigers. Was surprised not many others eating in, but countless takeaways being served. Will definitely be back.

Having noticed the re-vamp, we tried the Tim Fai this evening. From the start, the experience was spoiled by the horrendous cold draughts coming, apparently from the ventilation fan, but also by the door failing to be closed by the closer. Why this was not rectified immediately it became apparent, probably some time ago, is quite extraordinary. It must have lost them a lot of customers - including us - until we hear that it has been rectified. When we eventually got our food, it was delicious! But so far, at least, this is a takeaway, with the restaurant as a side-line. Do not dine there between about 7.00 p,m and 7.45 p.m. There was a queue of people waiting for their takeaways, also people sitting at the most draught-free tables, seriously spoiling the dining experience. So, if we lived in Hassocks, we would keep buying the delicious takeaways, but cannot recommend trying the restaurant, in the evening, anyway, unless it separates completely takeaways from the restaurant - and fixes the draughts.

Haven't eaten in yet but had a couple of takeaways and both times I have been very impressed by the quality of the food and service.

Tried a takeaway after the new takeover. Disappointed to tell the truth. Used this restaurant for our wedding celebration and have used ever since and always been more than happy. First try under new management was disappointing. Soggy undercooked dishes. Overall inferior quality compared to previous owners. Have not used since.

Under new Ownership this Restaurant has an excellent range of food fordining or take-out. The Menu and food quality is very good with prompt serviceand always a smile.

We had a fantastic meal at the new look Tim Fai restaurant in Hassocks. The Singapore Rice Noodles, House Special Chow Mein, Vegetables Soup, Roast Pork Chinese Style and Thai green curry were all excellent. We also enjoyed a very decent bottle of Merlot and the total bill for 4 adults + a little one was just under £50. A great new local restaurant. We will be back.

We have visted Tim Fai many many times, the food and the staff have always been great, sorry to see the Zue, Tim and Kitty leave but have been in to meet new owners and the food is just as good with more dishes on menu.

Tim Fai has changed hands. It has had a refurb and now looks more enticing (before it looked rather grubby and down at heel), staff have new smart uniforms. OK, you don't go there to eat the uniforms but it does give a positive impression. Service is prompt and the food arrives quickly. Portion sizes are generous. The prices have gone up a bit but are certainly right for quantity and quality. Enjoyable.

Meandering through Hassocks after spending time in a local hostelry, hunger struck. As it was a fine evening, I obtained a takeaway from Tim Fai. Although I must admit to being a little worse for wear, I was greeted politely and, scanning through the menu, ordered a small selection of dishes: shrimp chowmein, plain mixed vegetables and szechuan prawns - together with chopsticks to go. As I said, only a little the worse for wear...Having found convenient seating in the local park, I proceeded to eat with some relish. The portions were good, well cooked and spiced and very reasonably priced.All in all a fine experience and well worth a further visit - ale-free!

This is a tired place, it lacks glitz & sparkle,but its good is great. I've lost count of my visits, to eat in or take away.The staff always have a friendly welcome & un-nervingly recall our little preferences & they are happy to go slightly off menu to please.Takeaway portions are fantastic.

Long established in Hassocks, popular with villagers, known for good service and good value. The Peking duck is excellent. Give it a try.

I've eaten at this restaurant multiple times and never been dissapointed. The food is excellent and the staff are brilliant.

We visited this restaurant after seeing the reviews but were disappointed with the food most of which was fried in batter and rather heavy and lacking flavour. Portions are a good size and with a drink was priced at about £24 per person which is slightly on the expensive side for the quality . The restaurant is very plain inside and no chop sticks are provided . The staff are very nice and service was good . Im sure its a good takeaway for locals but not great to eat in .

This is a good quality, family run small Chinese restaurant. It had a good selection of dishes, which are always well cooked & presented.

I tried Tim Fai for the first time tonight.This is by far the best chinese i have ever had. It is extremely fresh and the flavours are really amazing.The house special fried rice filled my plate up and there was so much meat and prawns it was easily a meal on its own.The crispy chilli beef was extremely crispy with just the right amount of sauce and it actually contained beef.I would recommend them 100 percent.

We have a take away Chinese from Tim Fai at least once a month, the staff are always friendly and the food is always excellent. I have never eaten in but I can't imagine it is disappointing. The best Chinese in hassocks.

Wonderful food, freshly cooked, with amazing service. I highly recommend the Salt and Pepper Squid or prawns. Only ever had a takeaway but meals are always made in a timely fashion. Never had a bad meal.

We get take out from here very regularly. Certainly the best in the area and beats the one nearby in Hurstpierpoint in my opinion. Friendly staff and food prepared quickly. Can be busy in weekend evenings.

The family came from Hong Kong, and have settled in the village. very friendly and obliging.I wish there was another category, as the food was better than average, but not in the "very good"category.I would say it's a good local place when you don't want to cook. My husband enjoyed the hot and sour soup, as well as the shredded duck with pancakes.

We all LOVE Tim Fai, the food is always cooked fresh and the staff are always so cheerful. We haven't had a sit down meal only takeaway, but cannot recommend here enough. I love the way they do a double up portion but not at a double up price, unlike some places. Its great to be able to view the menu on their website too, only grumble is I wished they delivered.
