Ignore the review that referred to the location of this cafe resembling a scrapyard and an overgrown garden. In fact they are Fort View (tyre replacement) and The Coastal Gardener (plant nursery), both of which are long established and well regarded local businesses. As for The View, it has a superlative position overlooking the Solent and backed by a farm, a campsite and an antiques business. It’s a very nice spot, easy to miss from the road, but well worth seeking out. The cafe has been completely and tastefully refurbished, and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. The menu is varied with very fresh ingredients and a ‘Mediterranean’ feel. I am sure they deserve to succeed and wish them all the best.

Such a pretty old building on the High St Brading. Can't think why we never found it before but the welcome was warm , the staff were friendly and efficient and the food was superb! Difficult to get a Sunday roast just right but they nailed it ! From the meat to the veg and the giant Yorkshires everything was generous and perfectly cooked and just as a traditional home cooked meal should be.

What a gorgeous unexpected find Right on a small beach we sat outside on a patio area that goes straight into a small beach The ladies that serve you are a really lovely and chatty bunch nothing was too much trouble you order at the counter and they bring it out to you With a quirky little spade table no. lol We went here on a few days running as food was Devine We had toasted sandwiches. With all the trimmings. Plus barbecued chicken wings My goodness they were delicious Even had a soya latte which was a bonus as I’m milk intolerant My husband had a coronation chicken baguette which was delicious 2nd visit we had chicken burger with chips and bacon mushroom linguine which tasted divine Highly recommended we will def be back

Ordered for four as a collection order. - £ 60 . Very disappointed. Vegetable curry was watery with no discernable flavour. Roast pork chow mein was very dry - no sauce . Special fried rice was soaked in sweet and sour sauce. A very poor uneatable meal. We attempted to return all the dishes almost full the next day ( Wednesday the 6th March ) for a refund . Arrived at 5.30 pm - their advertised opening time - restaurant was shut. Waited 30mins. Rang the phone number. No reply. Gave up.

We went here for Christmas Day lunch. We were not at the table we were told when booking and put down the bottom of the big dining room. It lacked decoration and we felt like we had been put out of the way as we had two children with us. The starter and fish course were nice but the main event of the Christmas dinner was bland and lacked any inspiration. We all had turkey but there was no stuffing, only a crusty bit of bread sauce in a pot on the side of the plate. It had boiled carrots, undercooked parsnips (unsure how these had been cooked but tasted raw), boiled sprouts and roast potatoes. The roast potatoes had been part cooked and re roasted. They were hard and quite a few of the potatoes were devoid of potato. The sprouts were also raw and couldn’t be cut, at one point it shot off the plate when tried, onto the floor. It was a very simple undercooked meal that had no especial touches for Christmas Day. They usually do a carvery here and I personally feel this would have been better option. No Christmas pudding but pear and ginger cake which was ok but not traditional. My other concern is that we had to keep asking for the children to get their meals. We were told the children got all that was on the menu when I booked but it was different when we got there. They had cucumber batons, and ham batons on a plate like an afterthought. It was totally unappealing and it wasn’t eaten. We asked for the fruit which was offered only to be told they had had their starter and couldn’t have it. Their meal was equally uninviting and wasn’t eaten as the veg was not desirable. The children had tiny crackers so we gave ours to them, they weren’t made to feel excited or special, a really boring time for them so we refused mince pies and coffee so they could go home. We then fed them when we got home. A waste of £95 for each adult and £35 for each child. In total £640! The Worst Christmas meal we have ever had. Never again. If you wondered why we booked, we have had a lot of personal difficulties this year and thought this would cheer us up and give us all a break from cooking.

Excellent quality bread. Highly recommend focaccia and baguettes. Also basic pastries range pain au chocolat, croissant and palmier every day plus one suprise bake. Later there are often tarts which looks amazing. One tiny niggle the drinks are a little expensive especially a pot of tea at £4.20.

This cafe used to be known as ‘The Tollgate Cafe’, however, after the previous owners retired, it was bought out by the people who own & run ‘The Best Dressed Crab, a few hundred yards further down the beach, it is now known as ‘The Harbour View’. Sadly, what was once a cute, well managed & friendly café with very reasonable food, has now become a place with sometimes rude staff & extortionate prices. It’s still a lovely place to sit & watch the harbour from, but £2.00 for a can of Coke, no thank you, go elsewhere, I do now.
