The Harbour View Cafe in Isle of Wight

What a gorgeous unexpected find Right on a small beach we sat outside on a patio area that goes straight into a small beach The ladies that serve you are a really lovely and chatty bunch nothing was too much trouble you order at the counter and they bring it out to you With a quirky little spade table no. lol We went here on a few days running as food was Devine We had toasted sandwiches. With all the trimmings. Plus barbecued chicken wings My goodness they were delicious Even had a soya latte which was a bonus as I’m milk intolerant My husband had a coronation chicken baguette which was delicious 2nd visit we had chicken burger with chips and bacon mushroom linguine which tasted divine Highly recommended we will def be back

Shabby chic, without the chic. Charging restaurant prices, without the restaurant quality. To me it felt like it had owners testing on their laurels and who weren’t making much effort with its upkeep and appearance. The menus were old and dirty. It doesn’t take much time or effort to keep on top of the laminating. The price of cakes were extortionate and tea was only served in a mug. No pots. Poor. Probably do ok with the more money than sense brigade that visit the area. But for me, it’s a no.

Out for walk, popped in on off chance. Menu offered good choices, both went for baguettes, one prawn, the other Coronation Chicken. Absolutely delicious and very generous, will be back with helpful friendly service.

Having enjoyed lunch at the Harbour View earlier in the week, we decided to go for Sunday lunch. Very pleased that we did as it was lovely. We went for roast pork, and it arrived promptly with all the trimmings. Neither of us could manage a dessert after the main course as it was so filling. The prices are very reasonable and provide good value for money.

Rude avoid cannot comment on food as never got it and had to justify getting a refund when they messed up our order

Fantastic breakfast cooked to perfection good prices very friendly staff, spoke with manager who couldn’t be more helpful or welcoming. Excellent view. Would highly recommend for breakfast going to be back again tomorrow morning. Thank you

went there for lunch and had a table with great view right by the beach. the food was extremely tasty, especially enjoyed the chilli con carne. also, the staff was very friendly 👍

What a little gem! We sat in the sunshine overlooking the harbour and enjoyed lightly-battered cod with chips and salad. It was such fresh fish, really delicious. The cafe was busy but the man serving was so efficient. Definitely a place to recommend!

Found this place last year and wanted to go back this year. We were not disappointed. Service is very good. Before we went home we had a beef roast dinner which was so tasty. We could not fault it . Will be returning when we next visit .

Hi, We went there for Sunday lunch having heard how good it was. The cafe is dog friendly and only cards are accepted in payment. It’s a no frills cafe but spotlessly clean. The main man who accepted our booking and showed us where to sit was very cheery and welcoming. We each had a medium sized beef roast each and it was huge, well presented and extremely tasty. They also do a small portion or an even larger one which would take some eating for most people. The bill for two roasts, a pint and a glass of red wine was around £30. We will definitely be returning and it’s best to book in advance.

We landed on IOW early and came here for breakfast. We were made very welcome. I was very grateful to be allowed to mix and match breakfast items. Highly recommended

Lovely to see this cafe back to previous service. Great local character and super Sunday lunches. Cakes are to die for - well done Barry for your creativity. Nice to see lovely looking Gluten Free and vegetarian options on the menu.

We found the Harbour View by accident and were very pleased to discover that not only were the staff friendly and the views spectacular but they had 3 different gluten free cakes to choose from!

Love this place , Darren and his young team are outstanding . We had the best seafood platter last night (pre ordered ) Fresh caught whole lobster ,2 dressed crab ,mussels ,prawns , bread and salad £65 for 2 , amazing value and quality . Also great breakfasts and lunches .

Second time here, first for breakfast a few weeks ago which was good quality food second last night for a pre booked seafood platter. Both times we had nothing but great friendly service as well as meeting the locals who are also just as friendly. Only thing negative I could say is ‘way too much salad on the platter . Steer well clear of this place!! We waited over an hour for a baguette and a panini and then I enquired of the foods whereabouts I was then was greeted by who I can only assume was the owner / manager stating to me there was a queue, I learned very quickly that you couldn’t reason with this man as I tried to explain that people arrived 20 minutes after me where finishing their cooked food whereas mine was just a baguette & panini he then slammed the counter and carried on shouting at me. Of course I didn’t respond to well to this outburst and we began trading insults which only made things worse when he threatened to snap my debit card in half. I honestly couldn’t believe how this situation had escalated and how he would be happy to run his business this way as he had no worries of acting like a mad man in front of his staff and customers alike. You could see that his staff where very uncomfortable and embarrassed by his behaviour by the way they were looking at him and then mouthing sorry behind his back. When I walked out after demanding a refund, one of his staff came out shaking his head and apologised on behalf of the owner and said “come back when he’s not around for a free meal”. Which I obviously wouldn’t. What a complete joke to run a business that way. Shame as it used to be a lovely place a few years ago and the food that was served to others looked quite nice.

Excellent eggs, hash brown and bacon along with a superb ham egg and chips. Proper cafe food, beautifully cooked with an abundance of care and energy from all the staff whilst the position is breath taking

Great to see that this cafe, under new management is providing great food and drinks at very reasonable prices. Fantastic setting, right on the harbour with great views from the terrace. First class and hope that locals and holiday makers alike enjoy!

Quick service. Helpful and professional staff. Great value food. Licensed to sell beer and wine. Beautiful harbour views. Darren the manager even gave us a lift round to the other side of Bembridge after the harbour water taxi finished early! What’s not to like

Mothering Sunday! I pre-booked a table for eight for the Sunday Roast and arrived to cheery staff and the beautiful backdrop of Bembridge Harbour/Silver Sands. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and helpfully changed some of the arrangements to accommodate two small children...

Reopened a few days ago under new management. The menu is more like it used to be a couple of years ago when it was the very successful Tollgate Cafe. Prices are higher, but the fantastic view is just the same as it's always been....

I have no idea how this place stays in business. It's hardly ever open, and when it is, the prices are extortionate. The same company owns Best Dressed Crab, just a short walk away. They're pricey too, but do actually open up and serve food....
