Incredible beach side cafe Lovely food (vegan options available), friendly staff, great coffee and cakes and a fab ice-cream selection - a great find on a dog friendly beach ❤️

Surprisingly good menu and food.

Had breakfast here 5 mornings out of 7. Coffee is amazing and the bacon sandwich’s are fabulous. Lovely crusty brown bread and plenty of bacon. The views are priceless even on cloudy days.

Massive thank you to the owner and chef for offering to clean down the kitchen and make some fresh egg mayonnaise. To ensure my gluten and dairy allergy could be catered for. My food tasted delicious. I appreciated your kindness. Great view of the sea too.

The best way to start any day, a cafe on the beach with uninterrupted seaview. Feels tropical . Lovely bunch of staff and very tastefully designed. Very clean , amazing cakes and a perfect cuppa

The absolute dream of beach cafes the best, the most delicious (if a tad pricey) food but what did we expect literally being ON the beach. Staff looked a tad stressed and overworked, again busy and to be expected.

Great quality sandwiches with chunky chips. Definitely recommend the cheese and ham toastie!

We go there every time we're on the island for cheesy chips and icecreams, but they do a lot more.

If you open an avocado like this and still cut it, put it on my bread under the fried egg and serve it to me. That says a lot about you.

Nice position on Sandown beach, however £1.50 for a Kit Kat that has 65p rrp on wrapper. Mocha wasn't good, Chocolate wasn't mixed in properly and all at the bottom of cup😔. Would hesitate to go back.

Found this little place and first off was lovely in the sun food and drinks was ok a little bit pricey but you are by the beach BUT THEN there was a quick rain shower so went inside to by told NO DOGS by a member of staff very abruptly wouldn’t mind but I only have to small dog and I sat by the door,first place to say no dogs I’ve been to on the island , no dog treats

Fabulous service from the lady at the hatch today! Despite a huge queue she was absolutely breezing through it making drinks and taking food orders..and all with a smile too! Really great food/ drink and super quick too...very impressed with this place. Will go again for sure

What a lovely spot to eat really good avocado and tomatoes on toast, and watch the world go by.

Only red wine by the bottle as opposed to four white wines available by the glass. But on the whole a convenient and accessible watering hole.

Had two drinks and a sausage roll, quite simple. The service was very poor, asked for branded spirits as advertised, and got the cheapest alternative at a premium price, we were sat outside and we were not asked if we would like our sausage roll hot or cold or ice in our drinks, it was handed to us in a bag not on a plate, they didn't ask if we would like any sauces or cutlery. We left feeling RIPPED OFF, we didn't feel welcome as customers it seemed obvious that all they were interested in was taking as much money as possible with giving as little customers service as they could get away with, I dread to think how the back of house is run , i am sure weights and measures and the other authorities would be very interested in visiting this establishment. Do yourself a favour and keep on walking as there is much better places on the front.

Nice little cafe. Coffee was pretty nice. Breakfast menu is small and if you don’t want a breakfast sandwich, there’s not much for you (went looking for an English breakfast but they don’t do them). Food a little pricey but good quality.

Loved the food and loved the atmosphere. The service staff is nice but the food is mind blowing coming from a vegetarian.

Stopped for a coffee/ Tea and cakes with my Dad but decided to try the award winning beer and was not disappointed. Sat outside listening to waves crashing and seeing the view.

Wife and I arrived for breakfast at 10.15. This is the IOW Garlic Farm! Popular attraction. People tend to judge people/events/environments within 60 seconds or very much less than that in most cases. I arrived in the restaurant and very nearly immediately walked out. Why? The immediate initial welcome. There wasn't one. Two lady members of staff, + a guide(??) fanning guide books taking to these two waiting staff .... meanwhile for 38 seconds we were ignored whilst they carried on chatting. They saw us. We were three feet away......but they carried on chatting. Bloody infuriating. Eventually we were sat, ordered, the food was quite brilliant. Presentation, quality, taste. Wow. The kitchen performed superbly. Accent on garlic but the mushrooms, tomatoes, are a combination to die for. Crikey they were good. We spent £46 on breakfast and £63 in the gift shop, the latter after we'd walked round the garlic farm itself. Perhaps the "management" up the stairs in the corner holding court in a seemingly authoritarian manner of self importance might ponder my spend per head? You were lucky to get it, you nearly got nothing at all. Never forget the basics, people buy people first, if that happens, they might just buy your product. Tony Perrin, West Sussex.

Amazing location, great coffee, great staff, and that's all you need. Would most definitely recommend. Been there twice since returning to the island and still as good, will miss me morning coffee there looking over the beech.

Delicious cod n scampi bites with perfectly cooked chunky chips. With friendly helpful staff serving and a perfect beach view with the sounds of breaking waves. Even the seagulls were perfectly behaved! Well done and thank you 😊

Great location let down by poor service and food. We waited 50(!) mins for bfast to be served which was underwhelming for the price. Only three other tables were occupied. One left as they had enough waiting. When we enquired about a status update about the food we were fairly aggressively told it’s coming…bacon not crispy at all with high fat content. Wouldn’t come again.

Not the type of place we would normally choose but it definitely does what it says on the tin! Younger granddaughter was taken on a tour of several places and their menus, and (rightly as it turned out) chose this one over other "smarter" places. Serves good fast food, toasties, ice cream etc as well as the necessary cold draught beer. Nothing fancy but that's not what's needed for a family day at the beach. We would definitely return.

Right on the Beach. A lively Beach Bar. But my bacon sandwich had chilled bread and the bacon wasn't that hot. But the bacon was tasty.

Stopped off here for some Coffee, chips and Ice Cream. The coffee and chips were Fantastic and come in a decently sized portion. The ice cream was ok. Lovely views and staff were attentive.

Stopped by here on a couple of occasions when in Sandown, it get very busy but service is always with a smile and the toasted sandwiches are to die for

Avoid this place….. waited over 45 minutes for lunch having been told a 15 minute wait. Had to request the table to be cleaned following previous customers which was met with a huff and a puff. Having a hungry 3 year old we asked staff if our food was ready and was told they thought it was a take away and it was now cold, I asked if it would be possible to be re heated and the answer we got was “how am I supposed to do that” the only option was to get a refund which was eventually given with no apology from rude staff. Will not be returning to this place and will not be recommending

Never been there but always looks busy

The food is here amazing. I had the chickpea ciabattas and chunky chips and it was probably the best lunch I had while I was in Isle of Wight. Conveniently located, welcoming staff and mouth watering food. If you are sunbathing and want to get lunch in Sandown Beach, highly recommend this place.

As our hotel was along the road, we had a walk along the esplanade and came across this gem of a café at the end of the beach. It was a late sunny afternoon so we treat ourselves to a bottle of wine, sat in the outside area and watched the world go by. Our only criticism is that is closes 5p.m, but we were allowed to remain seated and finish our drinks at a leisurely pace.

Just came in for a drink with a group of friends. The young girls serving where really pleasent and helpful. But an older women came over and stole one of our chairs, and complained that we where taking up space, we clearly werent. Then she kept brushing passed us, giving us evil looks. She deliberately knocked into my wifes chair at one point. Its a shame because we liked the atmosphere. I felt if it wasnt for this rude lady we would probably come again.

I've been a frequent visit over the last 6 years or so. Big English never disappoints whilst sat pretty much on the beach. On my most recent visit I had a bacon bre and cranberry sandwich. Oh wow it was warm and so so tasty I want to go back just for another one. I also had a very tasty carrot cake. And coffee with oat milk. Lovely friendly staff too. I highly recommend.

We went for lunch, ordered southern chicken and cord and scampi bite with seaweed salad. Burger and bites are so delicious. Salad is perfect.

Sheltered her on a windy day and had a really nice lunch. The pizza toas tues were a hit. Great service!

lovely atmosphere and very kind staff - appreciated the hippy vibe of the place. served piping hot food - delicious! such a shame the town behind it has fallen into such a depressing state of disrepair - i can only hope that the council improves this as it will not benefit lovely local businesses such as this one as there will be no tourist appeal to sandown with the town in the state its in.

Visited here last year after paddleboarding and remembered how good the food was. So when we detoured from our bike route thought we’d give it another go. Brie Bacon and Cranberry sandwich in a ciabatta roll with 2 pints of Offshore pilsner oh! I forgot the husbands obligatory sausage roll. Absolutely yummy and very reasonable priced. Staff lovely and smiley. Will visit again.

food cooked fried in old oil French fries reheated in oil. Not recomendet . the temperature in the fridge with leds above normal, the ice cream was melting in to the frezer

I’ve been visiting this beach café every year and I’ve seen them grow. The location is fantastic and metres away from the sea on beautiful sandy beach. The staff always have been excellent and the young seasonal staff are really good and can’t do enough for you. They have very unique beer and they also sell other spirits, unlike many other Cafes. I have met up with friends of mine here and they complimented my choice of location for our meeting. The food is simple and a sandwich focused but generous. Well done guys. See you soon

Good location nice beer want Spoils it no toilet without having to pay for obe around the. Back they are serving food so I would expect them to have one abd a long walk to get there from Sandown Centre

Meaning absolutely no disrespect to the people working here, but the location is the best thing about The Sundial. It is located right by a beautiful, sandy beach. I've never eaten more than a cake here, and the coffee is fine. All were reasonably priced.

Sausage and egg sandwich on the beach mmmmmmm

I have been using them for 10 years now, with each of the 3 mercedes I have owned. I travel an hour each way, simply because I find them professional in every way.

Just stopped and had a coffee, situated on the edge of the beach. It was very nice. Lots of seating.

Lovely small cafe right on the beach. We were lucky with the weather so we were able to sit at one of the outside tables almost on the beach. Small number of indoor tables if necessary. We only stopped for tea and carrot cake, but many more items were available. Seafront parking available just outside. Staff friendly and helpful

The Sundail sells great food and has a good selection of good alcoholic and non-alcholic drinks. All set to an awesome view of the sea at Sandown Beach. We visited today on one of the last days of October and it was perfect.

Ordered the breakfast roll. It came in half a polystyrene container, no ketchup and no offer of sauce. The roll was ruined by an inedible sausage, even the dog wouldn't eat it, salty cheap bacon but the hash brown was nice. Maybe the staff had had a bad day, so miserable and rude. Another IOW disappointement

Lovely little cafe -beach hut style with great views of the sea. Friendly staff, clean tables . Two rounds of toast with marmalade and mocha coffee for two was good value and delicious .

We ordered 4 portions of cheesy chips. We were tight for time since we had to catch a bus. After ordering we waited 15 minutes for them to arrive. I am not complaining but it wasn’t ideal, I appreciate that they may’ve been understaffed. We did have to rush them. Lovely location, gloomy when we were there but can imagine it to be gorgeous in the sun!⛅️

Cheap and cheerful beach fare, good choices incl a good selection of ice-cream! Terrace seating, good access to the beach as almost on the sand. A good pit stop whilst out and about 👍 Public loos behind the cafe, sadly a bit grim, stainless steel throughout, definitely need to hover! 😱

The absolute jewel in the crown of Sandown, without a doubt. This is a relaxed café with excellent food selection and drinks. On a very sunny day we likened it to sitting at a resort on the med. If on the beach go to the left (looking out to the sea) and seek it out. you definitely will not be disappointed.

Great food and really friendly staff. I’m gluten free and there was a big selection for me. We went back several times while on holiday here.

Really good spot for a family of 8 (ages 4 to 74) to relax, have a drink and a snack. the food is typical beach-side fare so nothing to write home about but the overall atmosphere is great and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Not sure what it would be like in high season, tho'.
