The Old Village Inn Steak and Ale House in Isle of Wight

We visited twice. Once to have a drink and the other for food. It was busy both times. Staff were great. The pub had a nice feel to it with what seemed like a good mix of locals. Our pizzas were a little over cooked (burned in places making them hard crusts) for my taste but they were acceptable and good flavour.

We booked a table on Monday evening as we were staying in the area. It happened to be a quiz night, we had never done it before, but it was great fun. The lady who was serving us was really lovely. We sat at the back ( near the kitchen area ), which we preferred. The food was very nice and tasty. We were rubbish at the quiz but won a bottle of Prosecco on heads and tail game :) When we return to IOW, we will definitely come back.

Nice pub and atmosphere in the front bar. Guy who run it was chatty. Food was OK. Nothing special, my spag bol was dry the ham egg and chips was OK.

We had a wonderful family dinner here. One of our children really wanted to go out for fish and chips, and he wasn't dissapointed. All the food was delicious, including the fish and chips. The staff were incredibly friendly, and really welcoming to the children. We'd highly reccomend it. It's worth booking, even if you're eating early as it was busy.

A real find and so glad we booked in advance as it was packed. Great food, friendly and attentive service, brilliant atmosphere. Happened to be quiz night when we went which is not really our thing but was lots of fun. Dog friendly and he was made very welcome with a treat. 2 of our party had the steak which they both enjoyed. I had a pizza which was really good. Proper thin stoned baked, I couldn’t quite eat it all but delicious. My husband had the prawn chetinad curry. He asked for it extra hot and it was. But he loved it. Desserts were lovely too. Don’t be deceived by outside it doesn’t look much but looks can be deceiving but I would suggest you book. Reasonable prices too and cider and beer choices galore.

Excellent food from an extensive menu that caters for all tastes. Hime made curries are a must try. Service was excellent and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Dog Friendly. Well worth a visit.

4 years since our last visit to Bembridge’s Old Village Inn. How much it has changed! The traditional historic feel of a pub that has been there since the 1700’s has been completely lost in the new layout which seemed very haphazard to me and it sadly lacked atmosphere for me. I was so disappointed that I was not expecting to enjoy the meal we ordered which was a 3 dish sharing platter. It was, however a very pleasant surprise to find that the food was amazing. Homemade onion rings, salt and pepper chicken and slow cooked beef and cheese loaded fries. My cousin had the belly pork bites (heavenly), king prawns with chorizo (beautiful) and whitebait (also delicious). Highly recommend the food, waitress was lovely, but layout and ambience sadly disappointing and confusing for me when I remember how it used to be.

Stayed in Bembridge the past week. We visited this pub for food and was blown away by the quality and value. The kids loved the pizzas, so much we went back 2 more times in one week. The Mrs rated the Sunday lunch as “the best she’s ever had”. Great place. Amazing food and really friendly staff

The food is absolutely delicious and such generous portions! Very good value for money. We went on the Monday quiz night, which was so much fun. My family and I (including our dog) was given a very warm welcome. We will definitely be back.

Amazing Sunday roasts. Getting all of the veg, cauliflower cheese and stuff included is great. Haven't been able to go over Christmas so looking forward to the roasts again now the new year is here.

Very good discovery following a recommendation from a Coeliac on a Facebook page. We ate here twice during our weeks holiday on the IOW and both times I felt confident in the chefs understanding and handling of my meals as I get very nervous incase I’m made poorly due to having to have a gluten and dairy free diet. Thanks to all staff and for the doggy treats for my husbands guide dog ! She’s asked to go again so see you next year 🤣

We were recommended the pub after a visit to the Bembridge Lifeboat Station ( Patch's fault ). Food was of a high standard and the homemade curry was a joy !! Staff were lovely and helpful ...made our short break very enjoyable. .They love dogs and ours got a nice blanket to snuggle up in ..

We stayed walking distance from here and went there on our first night on the IOW. The front half is a traditional pub, was showing the rugby and football, nice selection of beers. Ideal for the men than had walked down early to the pub. The back half was a really decent restaurant and decent pub food. Slightly surprising due to the look of the pub how nice the food was, I know that might sound odd but the old charm front classic pub had a hidden twist out the back. Few of us had the curry, wasn’t a pierce the lid and zap like you get in some pubs… 4 adults & 4 kids all really enjoyed our meals with plenty of choice. Although we didn’t use it, the pub also offers a big garden Nice staff and generally all round a good night. Highly recommended

Had really good food and the service was surprisingly quick. This was the second time I have been and it is still how I remember. A place I will never forget.

Highly recommend this wonderful pub. The food is out of this world. We had the fish of the day, the whitebait and the belly pork. I love this place. Will be back tomorrow for their Ribs. Please try this pub out when you're over on the island you'll not be sorry.

We had a lovely meal as a family of 9! The chef was brilliant when accommodating our daughters allergies, and we had nothing but confidence in him given his knowledge of cross contamination etc. The food was lovely, as was the atmosphere. A shame that roasts are only served at lunch, but this is understandable due to the extensive menu. Most of the staff were very accommodating (one didn’t seem to know where the drinks menus were- but she may well have been new to the job!) Would definitely return

Great dinner this week for 2 adults and a child. We had the sharing starters as mains and the food was amazing. Definitely be back again. The kids games kept my daughter happy which was a great addition.

We had the pleasure of a Sunday roast in this delightful pub today. It was hands down the best roast we've ever had in a pub. Three of us had the roast lamb and one the beef. Generous portions with perfect roast potatoes, parsnips, carrots and a fantastic Yorkshire pudding. It also came with a dish of cauliflower cheese and a mixed dish of brocoli and green beans. The gravy was perfect. Staff were wonderful, will be back very soon.

There is a very varied menu, we both had curries which were excellent. The only reason I didn't score it a 5 is because they forgot our drinks, we had to remind them and we didn't get offered the dessert menu.
