Just had food here was possibly the worst option of places in Newport. Favourite burger (detailed on the menu) tasted like it was cooked with something burnt hence the burnt taste. The chips still tasted like they were frozen. My gf chicken katsu was very chewy meat and looked as if it had been cooked from frozen, peas were also rock hard. No one came around to ask how the food was. Moretti does not even taste like its own branded lager and a bit too sweet. This place obviously has gone down hill since last visit. Seeing how quiet it was, really proved this place is just more used for a drink and somewhere to have fun. But food here, I would advise to not go!!

The atmosphere in the pub is great all the staff are so friendly Charles was amazing on the bar Brad was great in the kitchen and Chrissie always makes me smile every time I go into the pub whenever you are having a bad day Chrissie makes you smile with her outstanding customer service

Really nice building with lots of features but in a dear and desperate need of a full refurbishment. Same to say for the furniture and the facilities. Otherwise a nice choice of drinks and very nice and pleasant staff ready to serve and support.

Only stopped for a coffee but we were made most welcome by member of staff she came back to check if coffee was to our satisfaction and informed us of the group of pubs in the company and their offers pub was clean and tidy as were the toilets all in all I was impressed and would return

A lovely pub with great staff. Sam and Holly go out of their way to make sure everyone is having a good time. We usually drop in on a Sunday evening for the smart phone quiz.

Went for lunch with my partner, we got the bbq mac burgers which were fantastic, Brad in the kitchen cooked them to perfection, and Chrissy served us and was very helpful and friendly, I’d recommend this place highly!

Came tonight for a friends birthday and quiz. Holly and Sam were amazing, greeted with smiles all round and were really helpful

Wanted somewhere for a quick bite in town whilst out with the kids. Super value for money, and Samantha behind the bar was fantastic, she made our visit even more enjoyable, while helping us keep the kids entertained!

Samantha was amazing! So attentive and made sure our experience was lovely, even got colouring for my daughter! Top tier staff member!

The Hogs Head is a mixed bag. It really depends on the day and the occasion. Going here for a pub quiz and some drinks is great, but their food is average at best - and I've tried quite a few things over the last few years. Their pool table is not only the most expensive on the Isle, but also the table that is in the worst condition. Even a few days after it was renewed it was back to being covered in muck. However, a great place if you want to down a few pints and watch some sports.

No food had Been consumed today but yesterday was a beautiful macnchese burger with 2 beef patties delicious 😋 I got the best dance moves

Just came back from the Isle of Wight. We visit this place three times. Ate there once - food was passable. Cocktails were nice. The best thing was the pub quiz on Thursday. Enjoyed it so much went back for the Sunday. quiz. There’s also darts and pool tables which we went back for on last night of our holiday. The other customers we met were very friendly and we got chatting with different people. Staff are also friendly except for one grumpy bar man.

Arrived before 8 to be told I was lucky they were still serving despite their website saying food served till 10. Ordered food and pint of Heineken but couldn't have them on one receipt for some reason. Food was average at best and not particularly great value. In the time I ordered waited and ate my food I only managed 1/4 of the pint as it did not taste right and probably the worst pint I have ever been served. Mentioned it too the server who said he did not normally work there for some reason, he came back with some of the same beer in a small glass and said it could be the pint glass that was the problem but it was not. He then offered me a replacement pint of the same rank beer for some reason but not the option of a different drink, I left leaving the 3/4 of a pint shaking my head. Oh and I forgot to mention the random DJ that just started playing to an near empty pub where most that were in there were watching sport. Will not go back.

I quite like this pub, I often stop off after work for a pint and a burger. They have about 10 tellies in the place, so no matter where you sit, you can watch any sort of sport. The larger is quite reasonably priced, as is the food. A pub worth going to. 👌

Some were to have something to eat and drink but very helpful and friendly.

I just wanted to say how well the staff at the Hogshead, Newport managed the logistics during the England games for the recent Euros. The venue was very popular, very busy, and yet the booking of tables, layout of the venue and ability to get served (I even ate three times and got my order surprisingly quickly with no compromise in service) were all managed thoughtfully to ensure the enjoyment of myself and friends each match *****

I visited the Hogshead Pub as I usually do on a Friday lunchtime, it was the Friday lunchtime of the Isle of Wight Festival and the Staff were all really busy, the thing that touched me was they still bothered about me, they had set a table aside for me and ensured I get my meal in plenty of time as I have to get back to work. Your Staff are a credit to you, I would particularly like to mention Alisha, Chrissy, Shannon Sasha, Ellie, Dan the chef and finally the Manager, such lovely people you can be proud of. Thank you one & all for your kindness and making me so welcome, I love this pub!

We were looking for a pub to watch the England game and we found this pub. WOW what a night. The food was great, the staff were amazing and the atmosphere superb. We returned there for two more days and although it was a little quieter the staff and food were amazing. Sorry we had to return to Somerset. Thank you so much from the four of us.

Went for a pub quiz so had a meal at the same time ordered the BBQ mac burger. The roll was either really stale or over cooked it shattered when I tried to cut it, the burgers were waffer thin and cooked to within an inch of their life. The mac was OK. There's no excuse for food that poorly cooked. The service was OK but doubt if we'll return for a second time

Where do I even begin? The Hogs Head is a great place for a night out. Quiet on some weekdays so you can have a chill one with yer mates, and absolutely raging on the weekends, great for a proper night out! Atmosphere is one thing but the service is on ANOTHER. LEVEL. There’s a barman there called Jack and he’s basically King Of The Bar. He’s such a laugh and if you ask him nicely he’ll do a backflip behind the bar!! My mates call him Backflip Jack. Ahh, what a windup merchant. I love the Bar King!!! Wooooo!!!

Popped in the other day for a bite to eat and a quick pint, Ended up staying for hours! Had a great time here! Incredible place! Very well looked after by the beautiful Samantha. 100% will be returning again

Food was 10/10 staff were very attentive, especially Samantha she was so happy to help us with everything we needed, if we needed anything she was happy to help and all round really nice to talk to, would 100% come again and recommend to my friends and family!

I was served by a lady called Sam who is an amazing ambassador for the pub. She was very cheerful and obviously enjoys her job which is no surprise as she was great.

This is an excellent venue with friendly staff and very good food. The surroundings with comfortable furniture and cheerful atmosphere made our visit an experience we won’t forget. As strangers to the isle of white we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch stop over and rest assured we will certainly visit again

Great service by the wonderful Holly. Popped in for quick snack as the little one was hungry. She was great with the little one. She instantly offered us a highchair, children's menu and crayons. Holly was smiley and pleasant and made sure everything was okay. Was lovely to see a smiley person behind a bar.

Lucky I cannot give minus star rating. Only went in for a drink and sports on tv. Staff very slow and not interested in serving customers, it was not busy, but after 5mins girl asked what I wanted, she went to till, spent another 5 mins tapping till, couldn't find my beer on till. Went to her colleague till he showed her where it was. Back to her till, tap tap again still couldn't find it, decided to pour my beer, dumped it in front of me not saying anything. Back at her till, tap tap again couldn't find it, had to find her colleague again, shown where it was on till. Back to her till tap tap and more tap, so after about 15 minutes not getting a beer or spoken to, left beer on bar and walked out. 15minutes of my life wasted. 🤔🙄😕🙁. Don't go there if intend to have a drink

Lovely atmosphere in the pub over Christmas weekend. Was served the majority of the night by Ellie and Shannon. Came here on a Saturday night for some quiet drinks which turned into a night out. The staff are great. The doorstaff are also well mannered and made us girls feel safe.... I think the door staffs name was Laura. She's great!

Loved the atmosphere of the pub the bartenders working on Tuesday the 7th November were amazing and really accommodating,I think there names were Cam, Shannon and Tom, also the food was exquisite and really good thanks to the chefs in the kitchen aswell. Made my visit really good and looking forward to come back

I come every week for quiz night and always get dinner. Food is brilliant and if there's ever any issues, which is rarely, the staff are friendly and are helpful to rectify any problems.

Myself and friends come along every week for quiz night on Thursdays, and we always grab dinner. And week in, week out, food is always fantastic and enjoyable, rarely do we ever have any issues, and if we do, the staff are always so friendly and helpful

Food is delicious had the katsu chicken and was sublime couldn’t fault it. 10/10 experience would definitely recommend going for the food and a drink.
