Sandown Cliffs Cookhouse & Pub in Isle of Wight

I visited this pub with my son who is autistic. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating for us.

Lovely modern restaurant . Food is good and well priced great staff

Popped in for the buffet breakfast as we’d been told that it was great! . We were greeted with a friendly lady at the bar, ordered 2 buffet breakfasts which include hot and cold drinks EXCEPT hot chocolate, which isn’t great if you hate fresh coffee and don’t like tea but the fresh juice was great. The continental breakfast was good and the hot breakfast is great. 4 stars for food as no croissants when I was there but they were out after I’d eaten. And everything else was great. Staff were helpful and looked after the restaurant ok. Atmosphere was good the radio was on which was nice. But I personally won’t be going back because of the coffee unfortunately i really don’t like fresh coffee! .

Extremely disappointed with this place and the attitude of the staff, twice we (a family of 7) walked into this place to eat and were turned away!, the place has approximately 30/40 tables and on both our attempts to eat here it was 85 to 90% "empty" but we were turned away being told that we hadn't booked??, and they were fully booked?? The place was empty? As were the streets outside, it was chucking it down with rain on a weekday afternoon. The area is very run down and you would think these business would be crying out for customers? Obviously not this place, we won't be trying again, no doubt this will end up another empty building soon with there attitude to paying customers.

We visited Sandown Cliffs today and had a fabulous Sunday Roast lunch. We were warmly greeted by Neil and his team. We were shown to our table and the drinks order was taken which arrived quickly. We placed our food order which soon arrived despite the restaurant being fully booked. The food arrived piping hot and tasted amazing. Huge thanks to the Chef team. We would highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning very soon. The atmosphere and staff are great and very helpful. Dave gave us amazing service. We stayed at the premier in for the weekend for our wedding anniversary and on the Friday after we got chatting to Dave who asked us how we were and the reason for our stay. We explained it was our wedding anniversary. That evening we came down for our evening meal and Dave met us and showed us to our table. At the table was a box of chocolates, a bottle of wine on ice and a card. Made our day. Great touch. Over the next 2 days we saw Dave in the restaurant and he was incredible. Remembering our name and show amazing care. Fantastic service

We had a great weekend from 1st - 3rd March 2024 for our anniversary. We stayed in the Premier Inn next door and when we arrived we went in to C&P for a drink and lunch. We got chatting to Dave, the waiter. He asked us why we were visiting and we said it was our wedding anniversary weekend. When we went down for dinner that night, we were shown to our table and discovered that Dave had been out and got us a card, some chocolates and a bottle of Prosecco...we were so surprised and appreciated his kind gesture so much. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, but Dave was chatty and friendly and really went above and beyond and we believe he is definitely a great asset to the team....he was even in the restaurant on the Sunday morning, on his day off, to help as it was a particularly busy morning with some 269 people in for breakfast. On the subject of the food, we highly recommend it, the full English cooked breakfast was lovely as was the continental option. Main menu wise, the steak was gorgeous, it was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Overall, I can't recommend this restaurant and the adjoining Premier Inn enough, we will definitely be back when on the Isle of Wight again.

Great value restaurant and our regular place to eat. Food was well cooked and great value and plates were lovely and hot (which makes a real difference to a meal). I had haddock and it was cooked very well. My partner had the mixed grill and again his steak was cooked to perfection. Could not fault the food, service and cleanliness of the restaurant and really great value with 33% off voucher code. Thoroughly recommend this place for couples and families.

A wonderful group of friends and I have been meeting for a weekly lunch at the Sandown Cliffs Cookhouse & Pub for some time now so I thought I’d leave a review. Let’s start with what makes the place a success. The staff…. who are all superb and go above and beyond. They are all not only very professional but friendly which creates a wonderfully warm atmosphere. Having worked in hospitality / customer service for some years I can tell that they enjoy their work and take pleasure and pride in doing their jobs well. The food is always to a high standard and I can most definitely recommend the gammon egg and chips!! The £10.99 for 2 menu has a superb range of meals to choose from and in these times of the ever increasing cost of living, this menu has been especially handy and meant we can continue to eat out at a price we can afford. I think I can speak for all of our lovely group in that we only have high praise indeed for the staff of Sandown Cliffs and the wonderful food/drink and service they provide. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have had many meals here at Sandown and never had a bad one. Staff very friendly and helpful but are under pressure at times due to staff shortages but everything worth the wait.

We noticed a very miserable and rude customer wasn’t happy with waiting and was threatening to “put it online” even though he still got a table quick! but Dano stayed calm and handled him extremely well and managed to get everything under control and everyone happy - we were really impressed! Waited over 1hour for Sunday carvery when it arrived in was very poor the parsnips were cremated and so were the roast potatoes the peas were hard and hardly any gravy very disappointing

We've not been here for a while, but todays visit was a much better experience altogether. The booked table was by the window, as requested. A very pleasant lady showed us to our table and took our order. I didn't get her name but she has incredibly long nails. She also checked back on us later. Our waiter, also no name, was very pleasant and helpful. So much nicer than previous visits, when the staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful.

Extremely dissapointed with the food. Mostly inedible and service appalling. Had to flag them down to get served. Christmas meal booked for 2.00 pm but first course not served until 3.00 pm after reminded staff, further courses only served after reminding staff. Wasn’t busy that day. Unfortunately Unfortunate

We booked in advance and ate here tonight. We are regular visitors and have always had a lovely evening with this establishment. Our first visit to Sandon Cliffs Cookhouse & Pub exceeded our expectations. Although our tradition of indulging in a mixed grill after cycling adventures usually takes us to different places, this time, it led us here. The mixed grill was a true feast for the senses, featuring a combination of flame-grilled flavors and a satisfying portion size. We added all of the trimmings, including pineapple, peppercorn sauce, and coleslaw, which enhanced the overall dining experience. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu and recommending cocktails. The 2-for-£10 cocktail deal was a pleasant surprise and added to the evening's enjoyment. Sandon Cliffs Cookhouse & Pub provided not just a meal but an exceptional dining experience. The delicious food and friendly service made our visit truly memorable.
