A wide range of beautifully prepared ingredients made a most delightful lunch. All the staff were hospitable and very helpful. The salad looked and tasted very fresh, no brown curled up lettuce here! All the cakes were homemade and were competitively priced. A very good place to visit.

I love this nursery, I can always find inspiration or what I'm looking for, fantastic variety and quality at good prices and it is my go-to for anything for my large gardens. I especially love the impressive selection of tree ferns and incredibly old, gnarled olive trees!! Whenever I have the time, I love to pop into the café for one of their delicious cakes and a soothing cup of tea and it is always a treat. They are always friendly and chatty with me which is super welcoming, especially as I tend to pop in by myself. Thank you for having this available for someone who never has the time to stop!

Terrible experience at this cafe! Ordered the leek and potato soup, which was horrible and tasteless. They had put too much pepper. Don't go here as staff is not friendly at all. Not much choice on menu. Tables were not cleared quickly despite not being busy. I regret going here and will not be returning any time soon.

I don’t like fried eggs so I asked for scrambled and was charged an extra £1. The bacon was hard and had obviously been microwaved and the hash brown had a funny taste. My cappuccino was made mostly with water and was quite strong even though I only had one shot. I asked for some warm milk to make it taste more like a normal cappuccino and was charged 30p for the privilege! The toast had already been buttered and had sunk into the bread. The breakfast was not cheap and it would seem that there was more concern about cutting corners than giving quality and value for money. I left still hungry. Very disappointing.

Forest View Cafe within garden centre. Usually good service and good, however, when it gets busy, such as today, the food quality deteriorates and staff look harassed. Fried eggs were overcooked with hard yolks, Hash Brown burnt, Toast cold. Such a shame as usually so good...

The food served in this cafe is all home made, we go twice a week and the food is excellent, staff very efficient. Try the scones and quiche, you’ll love them. During the winter they had a weekly roast, roast spuds and yorkshire pudding hugh.

Nice cafe connected to a garden centre on the outskirts of Newport. Staff are lovely and food very good although menu reasonably limited but that’s no problem.

all was very nice But had no idea asking for extra hot water was the same price as asking for extra milk 20p all i can say is THE OWNER IS SHORT OF MONEY as we do not have milk in our drinks so they have saved 20p x 2 BUT they had the nerve to charge me 20p extra for hot water has well all i can say this place is the only place that charges extra for hot water in most good tea rooms etc they give it to you as part of the food or just drink that's why you make return visits for which we do, BUT THERE WILL BE NO RETURN VISIT TO THIS PLACE

Although a limited choice of menu, what they produce is very tasty and great value for money. Yesterday I has baked potato with prawns, my partner had quiche; can recommend both very highly. We’ll be back for more, looking forward to sitting out in the garden when the weather improves.

Today my husband and I visited Forrest view garden centre to purchase plants and have brunch at 11am. We seated ourselves in the cafe and chose our food, when I went to order the lady took the details then asked what table we were sat at. Then she asked us to move from there as it was for 4, to a table for 2 ! My husband has mobility issues however we complied, the place was not busy and on reflection I feel this was rather rude. We will not be going there again.

On visiting your cafe today me and my friends got greeted nicely and seated we bumped into a another friend of ours who had a baby, we also had a baby so that made 5 and 2 babies we were stood apart whilst just saying hello and wishing her baby a happy birthday to be shouted at by a member of staff who was wearing no face protection or anything "your breaking the rule of six it's against the law please leave" We have been coming to the cafe for over 1yr and have never been spoken to so rudely! This was not necessary as a polite request would not have sufficed. We will not be returning

Food and price always good. Only concern was with hygiene the tables when people left were either not wiped down or when they were wiped down they were using the same cloth for all the tables that were wiped. In the current climate i would have thought they would use a separate paper towel for each table. Other cafe's i have been in carry a roll of paper towels to tear of for each table

Visited today with friends for a birthday lunch. Several key items from the menu were not available only half way through the service time and we had to settle for our third choice. Under these circumstances you would think the owner would at least compensate by offering cheerful, or at least civil, service but her attitude was surly. Later, after our plates had not been cleared and we wanted coffee and cake two of my friends took the plates to the counter thinking to be helpful, only to receive abuse from the woman who claimed to be the owner and were told we had done nothing but complain since we arrived??? No one had complained that I heard, maybe we should have done. Two of our group regularly visit this cafe but are definitely questioning whether to do so in future. Customer service is obviously not a priority although the rest of the staff were friendly and courteous. Feel sorry for them working for such a rude boss!!

Arranged a birthday lunch with my girlfriends..this ended up to be a most upsetting birthday party I was verbally abused by the owner for clearing our plates from our table as they had sat in front of us for over an hour and thought we could help by taking them over to the counter to help as they had been busy..the owner became very abusive and did not want the plates?? This became a most upsetting birthday lunch for everyone!

My boyfriend, sister and I visited Forest View again on Saturday 21/12/19. We are all fairly regular customers there, especially my boyfriend who has his own gardening services business. All the staff are always friendly and welcoming and provide good customer service. There is a good selection of trees, shrubs and plants for sale at reasonable prices plus all the usual gardening paraphernalia. We had lunch in the popular cafe. My boyfriend and I both opted for the weekend all day breakfast which is excellent value at £5.99 including a mug of tea or Americans coffee. The staff were happy to adapt my boyfriend's meal to exclude mushrooms as he has an allergy to them. The breakfasts were of good quality and made mainly with local produce. My sister only wanted a snack so opted for a delicious cream tea which included a pot of Twinnings tea. The toilets were very clean and well stocked as always. We always enjoy visiting Forest View and highly recommend both the nursery and the cafe.

When we arrived it was very busy with only one spare table which made us wonder how long we would have to wait. We were pleasantly surprised though as the food and drinks came quickly and the meat platters that we had were lovely with warm bread and plenty of meat and accompaniments with it. We will certainly be going back.

This must be the only place on the Isle of Wight who charges an extra 20p for extra hot water for your pot of tea! Very rude person in charge made a big scene when this was queried by a customer. Food is quite good, but after witnessing their customer service, I won’t be going there again.

Like previous reviewers we live locally and having heard good things from friends, decided to walk up the road on a sunny Sunday afternoon at 3.15pm to see what all the fuss was about...it’s a good job we didn’t leave it any later as last orders in the cafe are 3.30pm on a Sunday (3.00 if you want a cooked meal/sandwich), which I instantly found a bit off for a weekend when surely that’s when you’d expect to get most of your trade?! Anywho, two cakes and two coffees ordered for just under £10. Cakes ok but a little dry; presumably bought in. Coffee just your average fair. I found the setting and experience uninspiring and can’t say we will bother to go back.

We originally visited looking for plants to fill a recently weeded flower bed. Decided to have lunch here and so glad we did. Lovely selection of sandwiches and panninis as well as salads, jacket potatoes and a childrens menu. Very reasonably priced and freshly made. Good selection of cakes too. Garden centre is just that with a wide range of plants - great to see it was not selling all the household, clothes and shoes! Well worth a visit for both food and plants.

popped in for tea & cake ( which was lovely ) BUT when it arrived at the table it came with 2 jugs of milk (as we do not have milk with our drinks ) I asked the lady you can save the milk but can we have a jug of extra water instead, she said yes but we will have to charge you £1 I said no thanks but this is the last time I will come here again a lot of places just give you extra water don't have to ask, the places that do not say yes no problem what a shame this lovely cafe, it must be the only place I have ever been to in the UK that makes you pay for extra water NOT EVEN THE ROYLE HOTEL IN VENTNOR DOES THAT which is the most expensive place

We have visited this café 4 times. On two of these occasions the chairs were up on tables signalling the café was not open to custom. On both occasions it was 25 minutes before the advertised closing time. I don't find this an acceptable approach. It doesn't happen at other island cafés. How long does it take to serve 4 drinks and plate up 4 cakes? They obviously don't value custom as much as locking up on the dot of closing. We would have been and gone within 15 minutes from being served. Personally, I would prefer that they were to advertise a "no entry to the café after X o clock" to avoid disappointing and frustrating customers. How about you pay at least one member of your staff for an extra 15/ 30 minutes after closing if this is such an issue? I would choose to go elsewhere next time.

I tried out the ‘Forest View Nursery’s Café’ for Breakfast, but unfortunately I was disappointed in the limited choice available, and then what I did choose came with overcooked Bacon and luke warm Beans, which considering the number of staff behind the counter and in the kitchen, in relation to the handful of customers in there, only made their performance all the worse.

Granted a VERY busy time to visit, ordered a cup of tea and two meals of eggs on toast. My tea took about 15-20 minutes and after asking after our meals after waiting 40 minutes it took another 15 minutes. My eggs- scrambled were cooked in the microwave as I could see into the kitchen and definitely undercooked. Please, tell your customers how long they will need to wait, almost an hour was really quite unacceptable.

As someone who live to the rear of this bar I and many others have complained about the excessive noise, anti social behaviour, drunks flowing into the rear car park as if it part of the bar's property . They also use the car to park their vehicles as if their own yard without paying for a ticket. The children's slide and climbing area (if approved) is monitored from a distance! With all the anti social behaviour around this area the owners do nothing to help improve it; especially the noise polution this bar and it's clientele create! The "new. Management " promotion is a joke! Just the same anti social crowd! No respect for any neighbour even after the recent "noise complaint" raised with the council! Close the place as it should not have rear access / facilities within a residential area! Gives Ventnor a bad image!

This is a lovely local pub. Nice range of beers. Food was great and if we'd only known beforehand we could have booked the festive menu. Importantly the staff were all really friendly and welcoming. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Highly recommended.
