The Cedars Pub in Isle of Wight

My family and I all thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal, the food was good, the service was great and the atmosphere was perfect. We eat out often and tend to prefer restaurants, but this pub deserves 5 stars. If you’re looking for an easy, relaxed and enjoyable meal, you can’t go wrong.

Yes it wasn't bad could make it more comfortable out side for smoker as it shelter has only two side to it but bar staff had been very kind .

Went for a wake at the cedars. I was plesently surprised on how much it's improved in service and atmosphere. Really friendly and cosey. Would definitely visit again

Had driven past many times and finally decided to pay a visit (mainly due to being halfway between my youngest's house and the ferry). Arrived before food was being served but more than welcomed and accommodated for the wait. Loved that there seemed to be a healthy amount of regulars in the pub and dog friendly (bar side only) with real fires for winter. Nice selection of beer also. Once orders were being taken, I opted for steak and ale pie ( which was perfect). Good selection on the menu for light bites, mains, and vegetarian options (kids menu also available). Staff were very attentive, and do note if you have a ferry to catch. This may well now become a regular spot. Good amount of parking, easily accessible and just 4 mins away from the Fishguard terminal.

We had a lovely burger each followed by an amazing Tarte Tatin which was absolutely delicious 😋😋

Lovely guest ale, delicious food and attentive table service. So happy to call this friendly family run pub our local.

The staff were great, got a table for us, we had not booked. The food was very good.

Never had food as it was the middle of the day.. also couldn't tell about the atmosphere as it's midday. The bar staff was very friendly and the views from the pub window were beautiful

Sunday roasts were tasty and filling, had evening meals on Monday too, only minutes away from woodside bay lodge retreat where we were staying, good value for money too

Visited this pub on a Friday evening with my Brother Great choice of well kept beer in nice surroundings Bar and Restaurants staff very polite and welcoming The Landlord and Landlady are very friendly The food was very Good Pub Grub at Reasonable Prices. I Highly recommend this wonderful Establishment

We were over I.O.W for 4 days and we went to this cracking pub twice. Food and staff fantastic,wish we could have gone again but next time we are over there we will be visiting 💯 % lovely pub 😀 thank you to all the staff

Good food. Friendly welcoming staff. Went to The Cedars for Saturday dinner with the family in early October. Food was good - fish and chips, Thai fish cakes, Pizza for the kids. Staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Love coming here.

Ww had a lovely late brunch followed by a pint. Waitress was really helpful and accommodating. Food portion was good. Then off to catch the ferry.

Unfortunately we were at the wonderful Alamo celebrating a birthday when they had the unfortunate fire. We still had to eat and the cedars stept in and they did a wonderful job food was brilliant and the staff were outstanding.

Lovely pub, really friendly service and nice beer gardens. Great spot to stop for a pint or seven.

Fairly busy on a Sunday. Maybe could do with an extra member of staff to man the bar. It appeared that the staff were overwhelming with kitchen and bar duties. Nice pub though.

Been twice in a week the menu is varied with several specials which were different both times. Would recommend 👌

We visited the Cedars while on holiday. It's a very friendly place. Staff are welcoming and professional in their approach. Great food and drink, plenty of choice, and excellent presentation. Enjoyed it so much, we returned for another meal later in the week.

My food was good, I had the Sunday roast (beef), decent portion side albeit I could have gone for a further potato and more carrots. Plenty Of meat . The kids food was tasty as well. Nice portions sizes, only thing that stopped it being a 5 was that my wife's meals was not as good, but still ok. There was stilton in the burger, but my wife missed it on the menu. Waitress was attentive and nice. Would eat there again.

Friendly staff, seated us last minute with no problem. Nice food great assortment to choose from. Free car park at the back of the pub. Quick service.

We had the duck a l'orange and it reminded me of my time in Da Nang when I had to duck all the time.

The new bar guy Josh was great. Such a fun night. When he performed Coyote Ugly on the bar it was one of the best things I've seen since Les Miserables

We really enjoyed our visit - the food was excellent, particularly the chicken tikka burger, drinks were good and the staff very friendly - we woud recommend and return

Lovely meal and great start to our holiday. The chicken and leek pie is amazing and the chunky chips were just perfect. Great portion sizes too.

This has become a regular haunt for us, Love the separate restaurant area with table service, varied menu and specials board. Food is cooked to order and always good quality as is the Beer & Wine !

We went to the cedars for a wake today. Staff were friendly and accommodating, the pub itself is lovely and the food was great. Would highly recommend.

Having past The Cedars we decided to stop for a drink and was so pleasantly surprised, really friendly staff and good prices. Came back next day for Sunday lunch, absolutely excellent lovely food good service and very pleasant staff, well done

Stopped here on way to Ryde on Scooter, Sunday roast was gorgeous, we had the pork and crackling and beef and yorkie 😘 £40 Including a beer and wine, so good value and staff very helpful 🙏

Staff were friendly, food was good typical pub stuff. Wouldn't hesitate to go again.

Had the onion rings, chicken, ham, & leek pie, a lamb steak special, and cheesecake special - all was delicious except my partner says it was instant mash (I didn’t notice - tasted fine to me). Overall, very happy and would go again if in the area. Servers were nice and provided large jugs of tap water for us, as we were thirsty tourists.

Popped in while on a family reminiscing trip round Wootton Bridge . Stayed to eat the food was excellent as was the service well kept beer and lovely staff . Even bumped into old friends which made the evening even more special

Lovely food ,very good 5 bean chilli jacket Spud & a very good quality beef burger with blue cheese sauce & salad. A big one for us, no chips in buckets

Really enjoyed our food , one of the best pub experiences we have had eating out to date!we will be back once I've had my surgery and can consume alcohol again lol . Can't wait to try all the awesome beers on tap . We had a long wait , but we were warned and I'm all about good communication, great service and perfect food . A good five stars 🤩

Really nice pub. Was much needed after our long cycle. The food was really nice and homemade and sat in the lovely sunny beer garden. Friendly staff aswell.

We went here after getting off the Ferry. It’s been redecorated since we last came and it’s now a really nice mixture of traditional and modern which complements the food. Good choice of food that’s always reliably decent and priced. Will continue to visit yearly as part of our holiday tradition.

If you're in Wootton Bridge pop into The Cedars. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Great choice of food. We ordered the Steak and a Chicken and Ham Pie. Both meals were fab. Prompt service in a lovely traditional pub. Young guy who took our order was lovely and very patient. Will def return next time we are here. Highly recommended.

Although we had booked it can still be a challenge to cope with a dozen or more people all ordering at once. Well they did very well here, none of us seemed to wait very long for lovely food freshly cooked. Very good sized portion. Whoever looks after the beer know thier stuff, a truly excellent pint of London Pride. The place was very clean but the toilets absolutely immaculate. Friendly staff.........we will return.

I have recently been to the Cedars for a couple of family celebrations and I just love the friendly, homely atmosphere in there. The staff are so welcoming and the food is good. Traditional homemade pub grub that is delicious. I would highly recommend The Cedars if you want a casual lunch or dinner out. It's 5 stars from me! I will be back soon 🔜💕

Nice busy pub, had a band on past night which was nice, the garden is big and the car park is a good size, drinks are at a good price.

Very family & dog friendly pub. Staff are lovely and the food was so nice. Pub was catering for a funeral at the time of our visit but nothing was too much trouble, we were very happy to have found this little gem. Thankyou for making us so welcome. Lovely garden with seating & play area for children.

Four stars for the food and great staff but the owners have no personality to speak of and seem to rely on the others to make people feel welcome and valued. Despite the generous portions and nice decor if the hard working barmaid who took food orders, drink orders and asked us how our food was wasn't present and all we had were the owners who just hung about chatting to friends would see me take my custom elsewhere such as the Woodmans or even the Sloop. Both in walking distance.

Such a lovely pub and staff were so kind to our nervous rescue dog. Thank you for offering him treats!

Mothers day dinner, greeted at the bar by a friendly member of staff who showed us too our table. Drinks ordered and served immediately and given time to choose what to eat. Food arrived just in time and was served hot, and fresh. Pudding was a little dissapointment, all of us chose a brownie and the adult portion size was no different to the childrens, yet the price was £3 more for adults, with only an extra scoop of ice cream (menu showed £1.50 per scoop) so felt a bit ripped off with that. All in all though we'd definitely return, the bar lady even brought some fresh daffodils as a gift for mother's day, and the waitress brought my son some milk as he thought he'd like to try a Jalapeño off my Cajun Chicken Breast 😂.

We have always had really tasty meals at The Cedars and the staff are so wonderfully accommodating and friendly. There was a brilliant band playing on Friday night with a vast mix of songs for everyone's taste. All areas are clean and well looked after. I definitely recommend visiting The Cedars.

Popped in for the first time on a Weds eve for dinner. Great menu, really tasty dinner. Had the Pork belly. Welcoming and friendly staff. Great service. Great pub.

Charlie was our waitress and nothing was too much trouble. Service was excellent. Food very tasty and gluten free.

Husband and I just had small and large roast dinner followed by delicious puddings. Staff were so attentive, table service, great atmosphere and decent ale and wine. Our dog was welcomed with a biscuit! We will be back. Thank you to all the staff.

Fantastic Guinness - went down really well after walking up the hill. Lovely landlord and staff. Great atmosphere, lovely darts board with score machine. Bus stop right outside as well with a convienant number 9 service back to Newport bus station (see review also)

We headed out for a quick lunch and our first choice (Woodman's Arms, don't even bother, see my review) was shut. Again. So we carried on just down the road and tried the Cedars. Almost empty, which was a shame, because the staff (one lovely lady who couldn't have been more pleasant and was also busy as she was by herself) was lovely and the food, from an admittedly small menu, was delicious and probably the cheapest we have had for years. It will become our go-to for a quick lunch in future and although I wish them well, I hope this stays a well kept secret!

We come here all the time. Its great for a quick pint or a sit down meal. Good with dogs and the kids love the play area at the back. Great food, atmosphere and lovely service. Good ales too.

Visited for a couple of nights whilst staying on the island. Good traditional pub , lovely welcoming atmosphere serving three great ales and great food. Good menu with plenty of choice inc a specials board. As an aside - the toilets were spotlessly clean ! Lovely couple run this pub , I wish them every success. Highly recommend a visit.

Always nice friendly staff, good food

Incredible effort. I was visiting a friend who lives just down the road and he took me in here for beer and food one evening. He told me the new landlord had refurbished it during lockdown. Well all I can say is it is now a model local. Everything has been done right and to a superb standard. It doesn't stop there... the hospitality was excellent. The food was good, the Fullers ESB was spot on in both condition and temperature. If you come to this part of the island and don't call in then I am afraid to say you will have cheated yourself.

Lovely traditional Island pub/restaurant. Good food menu, nice variety of drinks, family friendly, play area outside. Nice lawned beer gdn. We came across this pub after visiting The Osbourne House. We had a delicious mid week lunch and excellent service. The food was very tasty, the pub was clean and the staff were amazing.

Had an excellent lunch here last Thursday with my brother and then again with my wife yesterday, we all had different selections both times and were not disappointed and delighted with our food. Friendly staff too. This is definitely our new 'go to' for us.

warm welcome, reasonably priced, cosy atmosphere and, after the refit, looks great. Additional.....frequent events and music at and away from the pub make this place a suitable central hub for our community.
