Excellent quality bread. Highly recommend focaccia and baguettes. Also basic pastries range pain au chocolat, croissant and palmier every day plus one suprise bake. Later there are often tarts which looks amazing. One tiny niggle the drinks are a little expensive especially a pot of tea at £4.20.

We were so disappointed with the service. Despite there being 3 members of staff, standing chatting and laughing, our food didn’t arrive. Eventually we asked if there was a problem and were met by totally blank looks. When I said what we had ordered ( and paid for) it was apparent the order had not gone through to the kitchen. When it eventually arrived it was fine, but we won’t return.

We ordered tea and 2 light lunches. Tea arrived promptly and we waited for the food to arrive. The place wasnt busy but after 20 minutes and other tables being served, we spoke to a young waitress who went to find out where our food was. She returned to tell us it was being prepared. Another 10/15 minutes passed and still no food. Went to the front counter to ask for refund as we couldn't stay any longer. No apology or explanation made and refund reluctantly given. Staff need to be trained in customer service. Appalling service. Will definitely not be back or recommending to others.

We visited the Bakery for breakfast after checking out of our caravan at Whitecliff Bay and were looking for somewhere for a late breakfast. The coffee was perfect ( and I’m a big coffee lover )- nice and strong and better than anywhere else I e had coffee in a long time! Myself and my husband had eggs Benedict which was delicious and our two young children had sausages , beans and toast which was also good but they tried ours and wanted more lol! I ordered a second coffee before we left and the kids took two cupcakes away which were delicious! The best cupcakes I e ever tasted! We wish we had discovered this place sooner as would definitely like to return! Another note- we loved the fact that the place is dog friendly and our cockapoo happily sat at a table at the back and chilled out in the sun! Nice garden too!

Disappointed after reading glowing reviews. Afternoon tea on the menu but after ordering at the counter found it was not available, and hadn’t been available for some time. Wouldn’t you place a sticker over it or omit it altogether rather than leave it? Staff were chatting together upon our entry, and needed a polite ‘excuse me’ to make them aware of our presence. Packs of butter placed next to jacket potatoes while the potato was filled, defeated the object. Salad with no dressing or even dressing offered. Only two people eating on a Sunday afternoon in the entire place, should have warned us something wasn’t right. Sadly we won’t be returning.

Having sailed to the Isle of Wight, we then walked in the rain to the bakers which is usually very good. We did find a seat in the garden under an umbrella, much to the consternation of the staff, as it was still raining. A visit to the bakers is usually a high spot of our visit to Bembridge - but not this time. One of the cups wasn't clean (a tea stain inside the cup), the tea spoons were stained, and the big red tea pot had a chipped spout. Not really ideal. The cakes were better, but the 'chocolate' cake my husband had was dry and bland. The coffee and walnut sponge was however delicious. Admittedly it was the end of the day, but unclean cutlery and crockery should be spotless at any time. Not sure whether they are getting complacent, or whether standards are really slipping. We should have complained, but staff were few and far between. Not sure that we will return.

Called in for a late lunch as there were few other options available and, unusually, I'd not checked it out before on TA. There were strict controls on people entering the premises in view of the limited space, even if it meant standing out in the rain, so from a Covid perspective that's good. I ordered a coronation chicken sandwich which was exemplary (a good balance between the filling and the bread) and my wife had beans on toast (not one of the 57 varieties but perfectly acceptable). We had a coffee and [sadly] a rather luke warm hot chocolate (given that I'd expressly asked for it hot) and a couple of cakes to take away which were generously sized and excellent value.

I can not praise the staff enough, how friendly, helpful, hard working and accommodating they have always been. This had been a regular stop for me over the years and an absolute little god-send because they have remained open for bread and take away coffee etc during the lockdown.... essential in the village. Had an old favorite, cheese on toast, comes with salad garnish and tortilla chips. Excellent as always... had a decaf latte followed by a mocha.... which was simply the best... thank you for being here and as long as you are I will be too.

Have been here several times and always loved the place. This time some of the shine had worn off for me. They have taken out some tables, fair enough in these troubled times and it was warm enough to sit outside (just) then they forgot about us for quite a while. The instructions were quite clear about staff coming to us to take an order which would have been fine if they had not forgotten about us.When we were eventually noticed, the young girl was polite and efficient enough but sitting in the patio area with the chefs popping out when they weren't busy just created the wrong impression for me.The food when it arrived was OK, the one hash brown was crunchy enough to use for skimming stones and some bits warmer than others. It has always been our automatic go to for breakfast in Bembridge but now I'm not so sure.

We have enjoyed tea and cakes and even lunch here on many occasions. Lovely loose tea in tea pots as it should be.... however unfortunately on our last (and will be our final visit) I was shocked at how the bakery disposed of unsold goods at 3pm (ish) on a Saturday as they are closed Sunday’s. The older dark haired lady started to load up a tray for window display of goods which were reduced for quick sale.... and what couldn’t be fitted on the tray she simply scraped into a black bin liner ... this was all in front of a full cafe! Buns, sausage rolls, slices of cake, quiche! Wow... in a country where we have families who regularly visit food banks and food poverty affecting many across the country how/why would they do this? My husband took photos (which I haven’t added here as we’ll wait for a response) as we were just so shocked. There are so many options which would’ve been better than throwing away. 1. Ring a local food bank and they’ll come and collect whatever is left each week.2. Offer to your cafe full of customers (who have chosen to spend their hard earned money in your establishment)3. Ask a local care home to collect for residents on Saturday (they were good to be sold a few minutes before) so good enough for eating later on Saturday 4. Leave outside for local residents passing byBUT there is no excuse for food waste on this scale! Act now as this is happening on this island, food poverty is real. Food has always been lovely until this point... but now a very tarnished view.

It’s very plain inside but a warm reprieve from the outside. It’s a very busy spot for the locals which to me is a sure sign of quality. I cycled in to Bembridge today and saw this cafe with doors open and tables outside. I asked for a coffee and was served by a pleasant young girl. I sat outside and waited for my coffee which the girl said she’d bring to me. All was well until who I assume was the boss turned up with a face like thunder . Unbeknown to me I must have turned up close to closing time as the boss started having a go at the young girl for serving me. I heard her say in a huff “ So I cant even bring the tables in” , “did you tell her it was a minimum £2.50 on a card”, “just serve her the coffee” which was then brought out a few seconds later by the young girl. The boss made some other mutterings which I couldn’t quite make out but from the tone weren’t pleasant. The boss then slammed the door shut next to where I was sitting, slammed the bolt across and said to the girl “ I’ll shut this so we don’t get any more”. Any more what may I ask?! This woman clearly doesn’t like customers and made no secret of the fact that she didn’t want me there. I drank my coffee quick so I could leave and needless to say I won’t be taking my custom there again. I’ll do her a favour and just not go there again for fear of upsetting her and I suggest everyone else does the same. She doesn’t want any more of ‘us’ ( customers) so make her happy and AVOID this place.

Good hearty breakfast at a reasonable price, (£6.50 including tea/coffee and toast). Friendly staff, good service and good quality hot food. Perfect.

The first day this year for a genuine sunny, sit out lunch and where better than The Bakery. Out in the back garden, sandwiches and a plowman’s with excellent cheese and superb in house bread. Welcoming and efficient staff. An experience that added to a very good day.

Popped in for elevenses today for a cake, and oh wow was ordering a tough decision! A whole variety of baked goods on display, of which I chose the lemon and blueberry cake; accompanied with a raspberry milkshake. The cake was beautifully baked, moist and light with a generous helping of blueberries throughout the sponge and a tangy tasty lemon glaze on top. Will definitely be visiting again to try more scrumptious treats!

I often call in either for a hot drink a slice of cake or something cooked, and it has never disappointed. The variety of cakes, rolls and bread is great too.

I just love The Bakery in Bembridge, you walk in get a 'hello' you leave you get a 'goodbye' these small manners cost nothing and make all the difference. The ladies all work so hard in here to make everyone's visit satisfactory & comfortable. The menu is just fabulous, the prices are spot on (even with the little price increase) the Tea is Tea Leaves, they always have the best selection of treats which even during winter I'm so glad they've kept up, some places do skeleton selections and it lets a place down for regulars.

So many cakes to choose from! Eventually decided on blueberry and lemon which was so light! My sister had a bembridge bun which was packed full of cherries and candied peel. All washed down with a pot of tea with real tea leaves. They do lovely lunches which are all very reasonably priced. Friendly staff

Lovely staff and very reasonably priced - dogs allowed too! There were so many different homemade cakes on offer, it was tempting to try a different one each day but I managed to control myself and sampled just the coffee and walnut cake and cream scone - delicious!

My grandson and I discovered the bakery early in our visit to Nodes Point. There is seating but as we had a dog with us, we didn't stop. There is a good range of savoury and sweet pastries and cakes. The only trouble is that we kept wanting to go back. We will go there again when we return to the island next Autumn.

Came in to see a friend and left with a warm contented feeling, the place is warm and cozy and very friendly, but spacious enough to not be overbearing. The food is excellent and it has to be the best burger on the island hands down, it’s huge, full of flavour and seriously tasty, highly recommend the village inn

One of the best pub Sunday lunches we've had in several years. The meat was succulent - and if you can't choose beef or port you can have half and half. The potatoes were crunchily roasted with soft interior. The Yorkshire puddings seemed a step above most pub versions being neither greasy nor, like so many places, perfect roundels straight from a freezer. There wasn't much green veg but the kale - normally not something I like - was salty and well prepared. Great with the beautifully prepared red cabbage. Big shared portion of cauliflower cheese included too, and - on request - extra gravy and really tangy horseradish. Frankly not much to criticise here and the desserts were brilliant too. We had heard someone say that the change of ownership a week or so back had caused a drop in standards but it's hard to believe that it was ever much better than this. Highly recommended.
