Wonderful atmosphere, great views

Our waiters Lily and Fred were absolutely incredible and really went above and beyond for us and even brought out ice cream with candles for my daughter’s 2 year birthday, which was really lovely of them! The service was brilliant and the food was 10/10. Highly highly recommend this beautiful restaurant, the view is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for having us!

Amazing as always, food is superb and the festive menu is amazing. Opted for the festive burger and wished it wouldn't finish as it was amazingly good. Victoria was great as always assisting us with a smile and going that extra mile to see us happy.

Nice little place, it really is off the beaten track. Guy that served us was brilliant really engaging with my little lad who ended up doing the order. Nice food and location.

Lovely pub and one of the best outside terrace overlooking river

We visited the Isle of Wight lot's over the years. Staying at The Albert Cottage, East Cowes this time and stop off at The Folly Inn. The Pub is great with a lovely setting. The service is like a Weatherspòons but the prices are at least treble. I just had the fish and chips. Honestly, it was a child portion . When I challenged a bar person. He said it was guided from above because of the calories. I then asked if I could have a second same meal at a discount because I was still hungry after a busy day. The answer was no. The meal was tasty, but if you like a decent portion of food, I suggest you try elsewhere.

We visited the Isle of Wight for a 7 night break and managed to visit The Folly Inn on 3 occasions. What can I say: * Location ✔️ * Staff ✔️ * Food ✔️ * Atmosphere ✔️ * Views ✔️ * Dog Friendly ✔️ It is very much worth a visit. 👍

Always like this pub. Great views with lots of boats and activity on the river. Very dog friendly. My only tiny criticism is the piped music. It just happens to be a pet hate of mine. But otherwise it’s a great place to go for a nice beer and relaxing time.

Excellent welcoming staff and terrific food. Ate lunch on Thursday. Outside music was a tad overpowering but we sat away from the speaker.

Absolutely gorgeous pub. 4 of us plus 2 dogs. We spent ages in here playing uno while waiting for our ferry. Food was incredible and hot, and so tasty! Live music was a bonus, fab talent! Would absolutely recommend this pub!

Went out for our 10 year anniversary, Lee and the others were great. Unfortunately there was someone next to us who was on their phone loudly and had his full arse out. (This nearly ended the anniversary causing us to be straight) we had a word with Lee and before we went through the full conversion therapy he moved us to a nice spot and had a bit of a laugh with us and a chat. Turning a negative into a positive. Lovely food, nice holiday atmosphere and great service, lovely view (most the time).

Very nice restaurant right on the quiet and idyllic river. Pier for 3 ships. Be sure to call in advance to get a berth directly in front of the restaurant, possibly parallel to a ship moored there, otherwise you will be taken across the street by the Folly Inn Service.

Two visits recently - both times introducing friends to the Folly for first time. Lovely friendly atmosphere despite being very busy. Had impression nothing was too much trouble for these great guys. Thankyou to all of you for a very enjoyable time.

Excellent location, really friendly and attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we did make a few requests for items not on the menu. Great atmosphere, surprised it was not full. Will be going again soon. Great food and great value.

Lee: our host is brilliant - he works hard to engage with guests and support staff. However, my meal was disappointing - lacklustre pie and tired veg presented like a school dinner. The wine acceptable for a pub (usually vile). The location is exceptional: one of the best in the U.K. Lee is a generous host who is making a supreme effort. I especially like his employment of staff who others would find difficult. Bye the way: breakfasts were well received by those that enjoy a full English.

Nothing bad to say about this place, this was our last meal before we leave the island and the vibe is brilliant, the food is absolutely excellent and to top is off the staff are so so friendly, in particular Sam stood out to us, his customer service was fantastic and definitely made our experience even better! Would definitely recommend this to others that haven’t been before

Had dinner and drinks here on a Friday evening as we sailed here from Poole and the meal and service from Lee and hiw team was excellent. We also had breakfast the following morning before leaving the mooring, which was superb, really good food and decent portions. Served by Lee who was very welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

The new decor and super setting made this a perfect choice for Sunday lunch. Friendly and attentive staff and delicious food. Would suggest some new cutlery as knives were blunt, didn't realise it wasn't just mine until chatting later.

Sunday lunch was lovely! The staff were all so polite and attentive. Perfect dog friendly place with a little canine cuisine table with treats for the pooches.

We were made to feel incredibly welcome at The Folly Inn during our recent visit. The staff are truly amazing - attentive and friendly throughout our meal. The restaurant boasts beautiful views which make dining here a special experience, particularly while we're on holiday. The quality of the food is excellent, with dishes that are both delicious and well-presented. We always look forward to returning here whenever we're in the area - it's become a highlight of our holidays!

Me and my partner came today for lunch and it was amazing. I had a burger & he had a steak and it was unreal. Unfortunately i didn’t get a photo of the mains. We also both got desserts, and when i tell you i am a brownie LOVER, and the one i had here was by far the best one ive ever had in my life!! He had a strawberry cheese cake & said it was 10/10. We have also been for a roast before which was amazing. The service was amazing from Amy & the gentlemen working (i didn’t catch your name sorry!) & another lady at the bar. Such an underrated place, definitely needs more recognition for how great it is!

Good food, ambiance and service.

Had an amazing lunch today ...only two of us ,had 3.small plates £18 absolutely delicious...couple of drinks , lovely abundance, staff great ,polite, helpful, great scenery, will definitely be back ,thank you to you all ,my only negative....our dog usually has 2 sausage. But at £1.99 each. !!!!!!! She settled for 1.....

We couldn't have asked for anything more on our visit 4/4/25. Lee, Victoria and all their staff are always so kind, attentive and welcoming. A first visit for my 95 year old mum, sitting in the sunshine, by the river, enjoying lunch and her mandatory Baileys was an experience that she will always remember. Ordered Roast Beef with rosemary roasted potatoes maple roasted carrots a melody of green vegetables. And Yorkshire pudding the food was just warm the potatoes where not roasted I think they where deep fried they where discussing. The melody of green vegetables was some peas that had been hanging around too long and had started to go yellow. With a piece of soggy broccoli in it. The maple glazed carrots were a slice of carrot but no taste of any maple. And as for the sausage meat stuffing I’m not sure where the sausage meat was I think somebody else got that. Don’t get me started on the gravy. But all said the waiting staff were fantastic you could not falter them. They where the only reason I didn’t send my meal back.

Visited on Mothering Sunday recently (previously visited over 20 years ago!). A very nice pub situated right on the river. Much changed over the years but very attractive inside and out. I had booked a table and chosen and off peak time, which as it turned out was just as well as it was getting busy. The pleasant man at front of house was very helpful and cleared a nice corner table for us. Menus were a bit slow arriving but after that everything was super efficient. We had Salmon fillet and Chicken and Ham Hock pie and both dishes were nicely presented and ate well. We enjoyed our visit and would return.

Great pub with good selection of food. Superb service from April and Hollie and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend for groups, functions and personal dining. Congratulations on the new owners for all their efforts with this pub. Just be aware that the access road needs careful navigating to avoid potholes.

Lovely place with lovely food. Staff are all very friendly too. We got 5 small plates for £25 and some chips, which was plenty for 3 of us. The food was all really lovely and flavoursome. They accept blue light discount too - £40 in total for 5 small plates, a portion of chips and 4 drinks. Worth every penny! The view is gorgeous too, will be lovely sitting outside in the summer; will deffo be returning!

Visited on 16/03. Place was packed. Wait on food still wasn’t long, quality was great and service never disappoints. I don’t know how you do it but keep it up as it’s impressive indeed and with all of you being so welcoming makes us wanting to keep coming back

Great selection of fresh food and wide range of drinks. Easy to access by boat, be careful of the road humps if driving.

What a beautiful location but ruined for us by the dreadful canned music obliterating the sounds of the creek.

Blooming awful weather the day we visited, but I would imagine in Summer it would be a great place for al fresco dining with lovely views of the marina and plenty of wild birds

Food great, staff are incredibly friendly (always treats for my dog, including a blanket when it's cold) location is so beautiful with a huge outdoor space. Always a favourite for a lunch time 🫶

Our server Lee was fantastic and some nice specials in their food menu. Would recommend just on the service we had. Friendly, efficient and pleasant.

Great quality of food and low prices

My hubby , daughter and daughters boy friend came for lunch today before my daughter went back to uni. We were not disappointed! The food was amazing...I had the cheese platter which was the best I have tasted! We will certainly be visiting again soon. Lovely friendly staff too.

Visited the Folly for Lunch last Sunday 15th Feb, with family over from Toronto. Have visited recently and been very impressed with service and food alike. Must admit it's service that we look for most, as we feel it makes a breaks the experience. We were very well looked after from start to finish and, of course, you have the fabulous views. The icing on the cake came at the end of the meal when I had asked for a couple of candles to be added to our deserts, as 2 of us were celebrating events on that day. The candles were then forgotten, which can happen, but very quickly something else was bought out to us by way of an apology, which was so well done...and so appreciated. A big thank you to the staff at the Folly, and especially to Nathan, who was so helpful and went that extra yard.

We had a party of 7 for lunch. The Pub is very modern and has a very comfy atmosphere with a beautiful view. The service was excellent and the lads were very attentive and polite and helped us with everything we needed. Our servers were Nathan/Harry/Lee.

We came here on two occasions during our stay on the island. Served by Lee, Britney and Sam through both occasions. Fantastic service, great food and fair value. Would highly recommend.

Paid an impromptu visit with our 2 little dogs . The welcome received from Sam and Harry for us and our dogs was exceptionally warm and efficient . The food was very tasty .

What a lovely setting and ambiance. The food was faultless and the staff very friendly yet professional. All reasonably priced as well.

Nathan our server was fantastic, and actually every time I’ve visited he’s always been friendly full of energy and always has a smile on his face, really great service. We had the roasts and they were very nice and we had a lovely table in the window too was a lovely lunch :)

We held my late fathers wake here, The food was perfect 👌 a buffet for 35 people, All the choices we made were served beautifully, plenty to go round and even gave us take away boxes for the bits left, (well worth the money )lovely staff, Made the final farewell perfect. The Folly is in a beautiful location. The staff ( Nathan & Max ) were efficient and friendly and made us and our little Westie very welcome ( dog water and treats ) . We had a few small plate dishes for a late lunch that were well presented, tasty and good value. This was our fourth visit and we look forward to visiting The Folly again. Thank you

We had fab lunch on Boxing day. Staff was very helpful. Super child/family friendly. Great view. We definitely will come back again next time.

We walked along the muddy banks to this jewel of a pub, cosy, warm in a cold windy New Year’s Eve. My wife and I shared the crew pot - a fantastic, smoky fishy dish that was both tasty, filling and hearty. The staff were courteous and helpful. The Folly is well worth a visit.

Really good selection of food. As well as including pub staples like burger/steak/fish&chips - also sea bass, scallops, risotto, lamb shank. Wait staff were super attentive and polite (thanks Sam!). Kids’ selection was also good (our two especially enjoyed the kids fun sundae full of Maltesers, celebration chocs and icecream!). Thanks for a lovely meal Folly Inn team!

Not bad for a Green King,food wasn't that great for taste value or options. The access rd is a nightmare.

i am a bit of a food snob but the meal was excellent in every way. All staff was smiling and attentive. Our waitress Jan was also attentive and was not over the top.It was so good we have booked and paid the deposit for next year. It was value for money. There was plenty of staff and even the crackers were good.

This place is incredible and I genuinely had one of the best evenings that I've had in a while! We came as a group for our Christmas party and everything was amazing. The staff were all so friendly and chatty and actually gave service and wanted to interact with customers, pricing was very well priced, especially for drinks and food was delicious. Everything cooked to perfection and great portion sizes. Would recommend this place, and will definitely return. We watched Quivers, which is not linked to The Folly Inn however they are brilliant! Must be one of the best settings on the island. My vote for the best pub as well. We've been a couple of times recently, and it was busy both times, but it has plenty of seating inside and out. The food was lovely, great staff. If there was a competition for the best toilets in a pub or restaurant, it would win that as well.

My wife and I booked a table to eat. Staff attentive and polite. Only one starter brought out wife's not known in kitchen! Main meals brought out and my soft shell crab burger was fine. My wife's Turkey festive meal was awful. Parsnips hard, Brussel sprouts hard, Yorkshire pudding like leather and roast potatoes not cooked. Now considering only about 5 tables were occupied you would expect a perfectly cooked meal. Absolutely awful, if you can't get it right when very quiet how you going to cope when busy. They offered not to take payment for the festive meal without any other form of compensation. Won't be returning as no improvement made from 3 years ago when our whole family walked out with the exception of the decor has vastly improved. Green King still bad

Jan was a superb host today. Along with the other friendly staff. We hadn’t booked but the staff at the folly managed to accommodate 12 of us at last minute. Brilliant service all round. Good food recommend to anyone. Will be returning!
