We went for lunch so not a time when you'd expect it to be jam packed and yet it still had a really wamr atmosphere. I think that in part is due to the staff who were lovely. 5 star service, attentive but not fussing all the time. And the food was just the best, how amazing to go somewhere with an imaginative chef at the helm. All parts of the animal are used, the ingredients were seasonal. And the tates were divine. Honestly.if you like Brussel sprouts I'd give theirs a try, they with marmite so sounds like you wouldn't necessarily put the 2 flavours together, but they were amazing.
I think by far the best cafe Nero I have been to compared to weybridge, Kingston and others definitely number 1. Great staff who are kind and sweet are very understanding of my orders because I have made it difficult for them a few times but they have never had an issue. Especially they always go around to ask if everything is ok if the coffee is good or the food is okay clearly they care about the quality they dish out
They do the best kebabs for miles around, but the huge price increase since I last popped in was unbelievable, I’m not talking about 50p or a £1
a basic Doner has gone up by £4.
I walked out without buying anything.
Sorry HKC but your greed has lost you another customer.
Make no mistake, The Albert Arms is back!
Once the place to go in Esher, recent years have been disappointing, but no longer.
New management, a consistently friendly welcome and a fabulous Sunday lunch.
Deliciously pink roast beef, a proper Yorkshire pudding, perfectly cooked root vegetables and dishes of green vegetables and simply the best roast potatoes I have ever eaten away from home.
Puddings were equally good, sticky toffee with caramelised bananas and ice cream was super and the Apple and red fruit crumble with vanilla custard received a rave review.
Please go out of your way to enjoy a splendid lunch in a warm, friendly environment.
We will be back.
Thank you.
PS If you prefer your roast beef less pink, say so, for our party it was perfect. One of the reasons the meat is so good is that is is sourced fresh from from Smithfield.
Food was okay I will never go there again for roast way to much fat and there was only 3 tiny potatoes and little vegetables all straight from the freezer
The food was only warm almost cold
My daughter enjoyed her fish and chips
All overpriced for what they offer
Visited The Old Plough on a busy Sunday and sat by a lovely window seat. It’s always bustling here, which is a good sign! As you can see on my receipt we ordered food at 5.24 , We ordered drinks and two courses—main and dessert—but shortly after ordering, around 5.45 (20 mins after ordering) , a woman (who seemed like the manager) dropped a blackboard on our table stating “Reserved from 6PM” without a word. I was caught off guard, especially as we hadn't been informed about this prior to ordering and getting comfortable, so I had to chase her down to clarify that we'd already placed an order.
To their credit, the food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious—definitely a highlight. However, after finishing our mains, we were asked to move to a different table for dessert, which was frustrating. I understood they might need the table, but the table was free once we had arrived and ordered our food but the lack of communication and the fact that we were clearly paying customers (who had spent over £100) felt a little disrespectful.
We should not have to suffer due to the lack or your logistics in house.
We moved, but the new table just didn’t have the same atmosphere or comfort as the first one. While they offered us a complimentary half-pint of beer each, it didn’t really make up for the inconvenience, especially since we were already ready to leave after the meal.
Overall, the food was great, and the location is perfect, but the customer service and the way the situation was handled left a lot to be desired. We felt like second class citizens and that a table of 5 were far more important than us.
We did not have a booking for lunch on Friday, 21st February. However, Pascal greeted us and made us welcome immediately! He found us a round table in the corner of the restaurant and took good care of us. The food was delicious, and the restaurant had a homley feel to it. Have visited this pub on a few occasions, and it never disappoints. Totally recommend The Wheatsheaf.
Very disappointed. Ordered via JustEat and ordered a doner with cheese. Instead of using burger cheese which kebab shops normally used they gave me a doner kebab loaded with strong cheddar cheese, totally inedible. Threw in bin and they wouldn't give me a refund. Stay away. I will use Molesey fish bar from now one.
