Staff were very nice, location is fantastic. Only had breakfast here but it was substantial, very warm and tasted great. Sadly the quality of the rooms let the experience down. My room badly needed modernising. Door was incredibly difficult to unlock, toilet flush was broken, and it was just generally worn out, no where near the quality of the cheaper hotels nearby. It was clean though.

Had a Christmas lunch here with my two daughters. We all agreed it was tge best Christmas dinner wed had out for a very long time. Delicious turkey, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, FRESH sprouts ( unheard of!), we thoroughly enjoyed it. My starter, which I was a bit dubious about, was delicious.I think it was bulgar wheat with edamame beans, dates and a lovely sauce. Prawn cocktail looked good too. The two young barmen/waiters were very polite and attentive thankyou both. We'll be back! 😋

Lovely setting on the river. But Sunday lunch was poor.... Meat was tender but portion was small, cauliflower cheese hard no taste to sauce, carrots hard. Potatoes roast & boiled 2 of each. A portion of peas swimming in gravy, i think trying to hide the small portion of meat. Finished with what I thought was a aunt bessy yorkshire pud.

Arrived at 2:45 Bank Holiday Monday, pub was packed as a tribute band was playing. We ordered starters at 3pm and they finally arrived at 4pm, an hour's wait. I ordered mains only and had a further hour's wait when they arrived at 5pm! I had a 2 hour wait! My burger was over cooked and lukewarm and I had to waste half of it. A nominal discount was volunteered, I think as acknowledgement of the appalling service. Although the staff were friendly it does not redeem a truly disappointing experience. I shall not be visiting again despite its picturesque location.

This pub has a lovely location but the food is sadly very mediocre. Roast chicken was tough, roast beef was tasteless with watery gravy and cauliflower cheese had a floury sauce but no cheese. One plate had a Yorkshire pudding another didn’t. Not at all impressed.

Came here on Coronation Bank Holiday and were lucky to find they were having a beer festival and live music. Very tasty food - I chose the homemade Thai Green Curry which was delicious. My husband chose the Steak & Ale Pie which unfortunately was Steak and Stilton when he began eating it. This was sorted out quickly - he received the correct meal and a pint of Abbots as compensation. Another plus point is the free mooring right outside the pub - good if you’re visiting by boat. Overall a very enjoyable visit.

This was the second time we had visited this venue and we had an equally good experience, albeit over ten years apart! Our meals were delicious, well-presented and reasonably priced. The service was first class, and I would particularly thank Jess, who looked after us, for her friendly, efficient and sympathetic approach. The only slight downside which we experienced was the stepped approach from the car park to the restaurant itself, which one of our party, who is partially disabled, found it difficult to negotiate. Nevertheless, we would definitely come again, and recommend it to our friends.

Firstly a little surprised there’s no table service. Not ideal for many reasons, but the biggest is, the meals all came out at different times. There was a 20 min wait for two of the party. In some cases the starters and main courses arrived at the same time. Been once and honestly I wouldn’t rush to go back. Food wasn’t bad but far from special.

Went for evening meal. Staff friendly enough and service good but food dreadful. Ordered Haddock&Chips, the chips were alright but the Haddock was the strangest I’ve ever tasted. It was so heavily smoked and salted that you couldn’t tell what you were eating, perhaps that was the intention. Also had very weird chewy texture which I’ve never come across before and was the biggest fish I’ve seen served up for one. Have been trying to find out on google possible matches for this fish but couldn’t find any. Will not be returning!

Visited here yesterday and have to say was very disappointed . Ordered 2 x pies with chips and peas when they arrived the portion of chips was 12 chips on the plate and a table spoon of peas when i queried this as not acceptable with waitress she was very adamant that they was the exact portion so I asked another waitress who apologised and brought out more fries and peas 20 min later after meal was finished .. same happened with the desert so paid for extra ice cream 30 min later after hot pudding was eaten still wasnt served so cancelled the rest our meals were of not very good standard in my opinion for the price we paid . Such a shame as a lovely pub lovely location and I have to say the pub was quite at 5pm so not to busy to serve either .. will visit again but not for food very very disappointed all round .I do think this public should have a designated dog area maybe under the canopy as a lot of dogs and one child got bit just by walking past a table !!

I've been visiting since 1995 and never had an issue taking my dogs there until this evening (Sept 1st). My partner and I had been there approximately 40 minutes enjoying the last few rays of the sun before Edmund (deputy manager) decided to order us to put our dogs on a lead despite them not causing any form of trouble to anyone else.As a result we are of the opinion we will be unlikely to bother to return. On questioning Edmund why this was needed he said 'it's our policy' but when asked if he had been told to do it admitted he was doing it of his own volition.I've checked their website and it still says "dog friendly" with no mention of leads being required outside (or anywhere else for that matter). We chose to take our custom elsewhere I put the dogs back in my car.I returned to get the name of the individual who had levelled the dictat towards us and a colleague of his (possibly the manager but don't really care) started giving me some story about aggressive small dogs on the towpath and it was a decision by the owners...did I know them! Really? I said I didn't believe him and left. Regardless...if it is a new policy it wasn't advertised well enough and there was plenty of time to tell us while we were and without the unpleasant manner with which it was delivered. A potentially pleasant evening ruined.

Great location right on the Thames. A table in the beer garden with a drink on a sunny afternoon would be great. However, we went for a family evening meal as part of the Eat out to Help out scheme, and that was very disappointing. Obviously there are Covid-19 measures in place, so we all expect some disruption but they were very under-staffed. A long queue to get to the bar to place our order was followed by a very long wait for our meal and when it finally arrived, they forgot one of our orders, so my wife had to wait a further 15 minutes to get her meal. Quite disorganised and under-staffed. Will not eat here again.

I just wanted a quiet weekday lunch on the Thames and it’s turned me into a nervous wreck. All the right social distancing sounds are made, with signage etc. but in reality it doesn’t exist. The lack of booking seems to mean a complete lack of responsibility from management. This was my first trip in 4 months to any venue after coming out of shielding as an extremely clinically vulnerable person, there were also many elderly (and therefore vulnerable) customers, we were all appalled at the complete lack of enforcement of social distancing from a mass of children running and screaming, weaving between tables, bumping into people. I was forced to move tables three times to try and get somewhere safer. I know it is not the managements fault that the parents don’t care about social distancing, but it IS the managements fault that some of their customers put all of their other customers at risk and were clearly breaking the rules. This is a global pandemic, and should be treated as seriously as one. I will not be returning to this pub ever, I will tell others to steer clear, and actually this experience has made me lose faith in the hospitality industry.

I've been enjoying lunches here for many years so decided to go back today and take advantage off the "Eat out, help out" offer. All seating is now outside where the benches all have umbrellas to keep off the rain, or the heat. We sat in the 'gazebo' as it was intermittently raining. There was no need to book in advance which made a nice change in these difficult times! The menu is extensive and well balanced. Sandwiches are now back on the menu, but baguettes were apparently voted off by general public opinion. This is a shame.I had the chicken pie and my friend the fish and chips. The pie was one of the best ever with lots of juicy chicken in a thyme flavoured sauce. My friend's fish and chips was huge with a perfectly cooked piece of very fresh fish.I finished off with the chocolate brownie sundae which was beyond perfect! Two coffees completed our excellent meal. The service was prompt and polite.Based on today's experience I shall certainly be going here regularly even when the August offer has expired. Good food, nice wine, excellent ambiance. I attended a private wedding reception here a week ago and although having lived in the vicinity more years than I care to remember had never visited this fine hostelry. It’s one of four/five drinking/accommodation stops on the Thames which would have been a day’s haul for a horse and barge on their way from the London docks - long since disappeared with say, a cargo of timber or coal. There’s another pub opposite in Lower Sunbury and two others upstream in Walton. The landlord had done his own ‘hog roast’ - “delish” (not brought in) and with all the side dishes done as a buffet made an excellent meal. A hundred guests went home fully sated. The staff were friendly and efficient - nothing more to say, other than I’ll certainly be going back!

Definitely recommend giving this a miss. Food is at inflated prices, portion sizes not great. Kids portions are same as adult portions, no gravy with roast, dry food, the Brie and broccoli vegetarian option for £12.50 was disappointing. Completely dry and served with dry salad and new potatoes. Chef clearly needs training on what goes with what. Other than the location there isn’t really any reason to go to this pub. Desserts were OK, saving grace I think but still priced at £5.

We booked here for Easter weekend. The food and accommodation was mediocre but given the price will have to drop this to unacceptable. Unfortunately we hadn’t realised there was an overnight canoe race at the same time. There was some associated noise throughout the night; I gather they have support crews who feed them when they stop and have to identify them so I guess this is understandable but in the small hours the staff at the pub decided to take exception to this. The staff caused significantly greater disruption. The canoeists were relatively benign but the landlord was F-ing and blinding at the top of his voice for ages. He was being highly aggressive and threatening and quite frankly I worried about his attitude for the rest of our stay. We didn’t confront him due to having seen how aggressive he became but I sincerely regret booking as a result. We won’t be coming back. Book with caution.

Unfortunately it couldn’t be more different now. Dreadful over priced food with incredibly rude staff! The whole thing looks in desperate need of a total refurbishment and a good clean! Very disappointing and I shall be taking a short stroll down to The Swan! Much better value, food, staff and clean!!!! Never again ☹️

Took my family here for a bite this afternoon - big mistake! Slow service & appalling food. As we were about to leave the manageress/owner? Came out and started shouting & swearing at a group of 3 young(ish) girls & boys. These poor kids looked horrified & she made one of the poor girls cry. As we were leaving I met the distraught girl in the car park. Apparently a few years ago at a firework event at the pub she (& another chap) was seriously burnt at an unauthorised, non insured event with virtually no health & safety & no first aid. She then told me that initially her mum was so concerned she informed the council but did not take further. After this the poor girl got over the trauma (with scars!) & forgot about the ordeal. So today was her first visit to the pub after the event only to be verbally attacked by the owner/manageress? Just about sums this place up - AVOID. Oh & by the by the toilets were filthy.

Nice riverside pub with a good menu and good range of beers and ciders. They have a large outdoor seating area in front of the pub with plenty of picnic tables. The location is exactly on the riverside and if you are enjoying a walk along the Thames Tow Path, this is a good stopping point to get some refreshments.

We visited on a Thursday evening in winter and it was quite quiet. So maybe that avoided some of the problems other reviewers have had.

Told that each dish was made on request, asked a mild green Thai curry, definitely not mild, could not complete the order, so had to take a substitution, which turned out to be dry, have been used to a brilliant service, we even had our wedding hosted here, so we have waited a few days to cool down, but decided it is better they know so they can fix it, unlikely to revisit though.

We have loved this pub for many years but after visiting today will NEVER come back. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We arrived to find the prices had increased £8.50 for a baguette! Then waited nearly an hour for it to come. A chicken and avocado baguette with barely any filling and cold chips. Complained and disgusted in the manners of the staff. Totally unorganised and rude. I will be making sure all of my friends and family are aware of this and don’t return.

Visited yesterday with family for lunch, and had some lovely meals which were tasty and well priced. Staff were very pleasant, and quickly cleaned away the dirty plates. We would have loved to have stayed longer, but the temperature in the pub was quite cool, made worse by the door being constantly opened and closed. Will probably avoid going there again at this time of the year, but will return next summer.

Visited on a Sunday on the off chance that a table was available, we were early and given a table that was booked for 14:30 allowing us nearly two hours for lunch, which was plenty.

7 of us (& 1 dog)had Sunday lunch here. The roasts were delicious - even the veg were just right (I am fussy about how they are cooked)- although the place was packed out.

A perfectly nice pub to spend an afternoon by the riverside - nothing wildly exceptional about it, however watch out for days when the local running club uses it as a marshalling point for runners, because the towpath is full of perspiring racers who barge past everyone and think they have right of way. They tend to take over the beer garden as well. Mind you, that aside, the staff are friendly and there is a wide range of drinks that are served efficiently and politely. It can get very busy, so not the place to go for a quiet drink at busy times.

The Pub has a unique location next to the river but the service really need improvement. The table are always dirty and sticky and they should really need a revamping. Food is average and whoever go there goes only for the nice spot

Our previous visits have been great, but not today. We chose the back table in the window, which had no number and caused confusion! During our meal the staff servicing outside tables left the door next to us open. The wind was very cold and when we kept closing the door, one of the staff appeared to take offence. The solution would be to put a door closer on.

We were stuck in London overnight after a missed flight and were lucky enough to stumble onto this gem of a hotel. The place was a charming 300-year-old hotel that has been well kept and included all modern day amenities. Aside from the scenic views and walking distance to the Thames River, the staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help in any way the could. Tom, one of the managers did an amazing job helping us get a cab out during a crazy once a year bike race that shuts down a bunch of the major roads. Without him, we definitely would have missed our flight (again!) Matt, the owner, has done a great job making the Weir Hotel a must visit for anyone traveling to London.

My boyfriend and I have been here a few times, it's a nice pub with an open fire in the winter and riverside seating in the summer. The food is good but nothing special, it's what you'd expect from a pub. It could do with modernising but I guess the decor is part of this pubs charm.
