Mothering Sunday Lunch which was one of the best Sunday lunches we’ve ever had! Service was good with plenty of staff who were only too helpful with requests The beef was amazing and very tasteful, the “roasties” were the best we’ve had other than “home ones” and what was extra special was they were served in their own dish so you could take as many or as little as you wanted! The gravy was a lovely consistency, no wishy washy jus, tasty and as much as you wanted! Too full for dessert, but next time! A huge thank you to all the staff for making Mothering Sunday special, the glass of Prosecco was well received by all Mums!!

The Albert Arms is not a regular hotel, it’s more like a pub with a guest house. First of all the pub is great, food, drinks and service are really great. The rooms are ok too good, enough space as well. The beds are a bit old and there needs to be an upgrade. Small topic, but we asked to leave our luggage for the day which was not possible, as there is no real reception. Not a big topic, but was very inconvenient at that day

We had our daughter’s christening celebration at The Albert last weekend and have nothing but the highest praise for the staff, the food, the venue and the service. We used one of the function rooms which had ample space for our 40 guests. The food went down a treat and everyone has been raving about it since! James and team were accommodating, helpful and welcoming. Couldn’t have asked for a better day. We love this place and will definitely be back!

We had our daughter's birthday party in one of the function rooms at the Albert Arms and it was fantastic. The room was a perfect size and beautifully decorated so there was no need to add any further decorations other than some balloons and a birthday banner. The food and service were also excellent, James and his team were really helpful in setting the room up and getting things like extra plates when asked and all our guests said how good all the food was. We would definitely book again for any future celebrations and I work in Esher so will definitely be popping in with my colleagues for a working lunch!

This is my first time being turned away from a pub because of a quiz. It's agood job i'm a white and heterosexual because otherwise if I was a wokey woke in transition, or identifie as one of the other minorities, I would be playing the I've been discriminated against card ! You would have a massive hullabaloo on your hands. Come on, two middle aged married couples were not served a drink because 'no room at the inn' is a bit nasty? We live in Claygate so have tried most of the restaurants/pubs in Esher but not the Albert Arms until today. We have been missing out! Our Sunday roasts were superb and were great value. The roast chicken was moist and accompanied bu roast potatoes, carrot, cabbage, apricot & sage stuffing, Yorkshire pudding and CAULIFLOWER CHEESE - yum! The waitress (unsure of her name but I think was Eastern European) was warm, friendly and attentive. They had run out of Apple crumble so to alleviate disappointment gave my partner a dessert on the house. I would choose the Albert Arms over the Wheatsheaf every time now!

We turned up as a walk in group of 8 (including a baby) on a busy Saturday night and the staff were superb. We were advised that due to a massively large party of walk ins just before us we might not get served straight away, but they would be happy to accommodate us. We decided to wait and the staff were great. Not only did we end up get served in an incredibly timely manner by any standard, but we were also attended to by a member of staff who reassured us that they would be with us soon (without us prompting or asking what was happening). The food was ordered and delivered efficiently and it was excellent. Incredibly tasty and well cooked and good value. I personally felt that had it been more expensive it would have still been worth it. Children were given food first (always makes for a good meal!) and all the food was served hot and together. Enough choice on the menu to keep all fussy adults and children happy. Staff were all very good, but particular mention to Alex who was exceptional and really took our dining experience today to the next level. This was one of the most popular places in the Esher when previously owned by a local businessman. It’s now owned by a brewery and the food is delivered every few days by Brake Bros in huge frozen lorries. The staff are charming but the food is awful. The chips are amongst the worst I have ever tasted. Who cooks that bad when it’s out of a freezer? The prices are shocking. A recent lunch for 2 persons, mo alcohol, was a shade over £80 including the obligatory service charge. It’s little wonder the place is empty most lunchtimes. Get a decent chef and stop serving pre-packed poor quality frozen food. Offer better value for money and the customers will return.

We really need the Albert Arms to be a success and to offer an enticing alternative to the other two pubs in Esher. The beer selection is certainly better, but expensive (alright u know this is Esher but over £6 for a pint of Neck Oil is exorbitant!) The dining areas upstairs look great and the food is standard gastropub. But what it lacks is somewhere to sit back and chill.... no sofas or comfy armchairs, mostly high stools which don’t encourage anyone to linger for a long relaxed evening. I don’t want to perch uncomfortably, I want to lounge..... I suspect this may be the main reason why the crowds aren’t coming. The place used to have such a buzz (although I’m glad the cliquiness has gone) and that is now sadly missing. Hope it finds its mojo and the crowds return soon. Esher needs The Albert!!

Lovely pub and nice having a drink downstairs but food poor value upstairs. Sunday Lunch looked promising until I realised all the vegetables camouflaged a lack of meat. Two thinly cut slices and around 4 x 1/4 of roast potatoes (ie ONE POTATO) not good value for money. On the plus side food cooked nicely but served luke warm. From what I could see the kitchens are downstairs and perhaps the food hangs around inside a dumb waiter, Also had to ask for horse radish which arrived (after a wait) the size of a thimble. Quickly ran out but couldn't be bothered to ask for more,. Shame as promising start but at the prices we won't be back

The tasteful refurbishment has been beautifully done - I hadn’t been aware that there WAS a first floor open to customers. Both upstairs dining rooms looked lovely - the new ‘opaque’ windows lining one side of the room we ate in let the light flood in, even on a gloomy day. Our Sunday roast was good. Our server was very pleasant and helpful - the manager (I presume), Dan, was personable and welcoming. The Albert was closed for almost two years and reopened under the management of Fullers some three/four months ago. Some early teething troubles on the food side such as choice and quality of cooking have now been largely overcome. I have eaten in there both lunchtime and evening recently and can say that the choice and the quality of cooking is good. And by and large the staff are simply excellent ably led by a very competent, friendly and approachable manager Dan. You can eat downstairs or upstairs and there are two private dining rooms. The pub is a five minute walk from Sandown Park racecourse and a fifteen minute walk from Esher railway station. A selection of draught beers and a very good value wine list make this a great place to visit without breaking the bank. And the new interior compared to the old one is a revelation. When are Fullers going to take note of poor reviews regarding food? And if this pub is going to progress put some tv screens in to get the usual punters in. The Albert is renowned for its sports fans so if Fullers want to get them back take heed. The Bear pub is now taking the sports fans who just want to enjoy their time. Get this pub back to where it used to be not a fancy gastro establishment with overpriced drinks and terrible food. Many Fullers pubs in London adhere to the great English pub with appropriate food so why cant they understand this. Good luck.

This establishment has been closed for a lengthy period, due to legal problems from the previous owners. It was always a good place to visit, an establishment of Esher residents.

I recently had my birthday dinner and drinks at the Albert Arms. All the staff were extremely helpful and on the evening could not bend over backwards enough to make sure that everyone was happy. This was ensuring that I am looked after by changing my entire meal for me (the birthday girl) all the way down to my two little boys. They then moved us to a reserved space where we continued the celebrations, again nothing being too much of problem and all done with a smile. PS - the best chips ever!!!

Four of us had a delicious dinner on Saturday night and we felt the food was much improved from our experience a couple of weeks ago and we liked the look of the new menu. Two of us had the goat's cheese and chicory salad which was really delicious and two had the chicken wings which were apparently very good. For mains two shared the Cote de Boeuf which looked delicious. Good to see that the steaks are now being served with sides included. I had the Harissa chicken which was very tasty but it would have been nice to have a vegetable served with but just my preference. Staff as always were delightful. We did try to have a drink downstairs in the bar beforehand but it was just too noisy (race day) - possibly a few soft furnishings needed to help with the acoustics I think. Great to see that the management have taken feedback on board and are acting on it.

Came here for dinner hoping for good things as we need more choice in Esher. Left disappointed. The place looks great decor wise, very nice to have a drink in but don’t try the food. They must have an amateur chef in the kitchen. Had the burger it was possibly the worst burger I’ve ever eaten. No sauce on the bun, hard/stale bread, dry patty which was basically falling apart in to mince and a few raw onions chucked on. Chips were not fresh. Overall a poor dining experience. Back to Cote we go!

The designer and builders have done a fabulous job with this stunning building. I feel Albert would be proud.

Booked a table to celebrate my wife’s birthday with friends. Table booked for 20:00hrs, arrived at 19:30hrs for drinks prior to eating. Was told we were late as table was booked for 18:15hrs, not a great start! Ordered meals, I ordered sirloin on the bone cooked blue. It arrived, over cooked and tasteless. Called waiter to send back, he argued with me over quality. They bring another, cooked ok, meat was awful, sent it back. They offered another meal, declined as my guests had nearly finished eating. Ordered after dinner drinks, then was told bar now closed at 23:02hrs. In my opinion they are living on the reputation of the original owners and it really is not. 5* prices with 3* food.

Firstly, when you walk into the newly refurbed Albert the feel is great. We were six people and met downstairs for drinks prior to dinner upstairs. The main problem is the acoustics. When we arrived the bar was probably half full and no one could hear each other speaking. Once it emptied a bit it was much better and a nice room. Upstairs the same, it looks really good.
