We went for my partners birthday and we were given the only table without parasol with broken glass and with intermittent showers throughout the day it wasn’t ideal. The food was shocking, way overpriced for the quality of the food. In addition, the menu was very limited. The only good thing and this review getting a 2 is because the raspberry & rose gin was amazing.

We went last Friday for just some drinks and I have to say the location was amazing. The sun over the river was beautiful!! The waiters made us that much more special. Nice location, lovely views of the river and good staff.. Unfortunately they use this as an excuse to charge way too much! £5.75 for a pint of cider, £18.50 for what was an average roast dinner. I've had enough of places that rip off captive patrons and I won't be returning.

We've been here for a meal pre-Covid and it was very good. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for our visit on Sunday evening. My roast pork was an insipid pork chop with uninspiring veg that looked nothing like what was described in the menu. My partner's burger consisted of the smallest, thinnest, driest patties I've ever seen (I wish we'd taken photos). Both dishes were cold. This would have been bad enough if this was a greasy spoon cafe, but it was particularly poor for around £15 for a main. The service was actually pretty good, and the waitress was happy to replace both dishes with her recommendation of the katsu chicken burger. This was definitely a vast improvement, but still didn't seem worth the £15 price tag, and wasn't really what either of us wanted. I do understand that it's been really tough for pubs and restaurants over this past year, so I hope this was a temporary glitch and the Swan returns to its previous form soon.

Sunday 1st May 6pmThe entire staff were friendly and helpful and the place was kept clean and well runWe ordered the chicken burger and I asked for some modifications to which Nelly was very attentive to and made sure it was perfect as requested and looked very well after our table making sure we had drinks and always were comfortable.Highly recommend it and ask people to be patient and respectful of the rules so that we can all have a great time out.

Unfortunately we visited on a very windy day so lack of atmosphere and a bit chilly. Not sure why we weren’t seated under the marquee where they had patio heaters. Ordering all done via the Young’s app, which is fine if you have a good connection on your phone. Burger shack menu only which is very limited, food was ok sadly coffee and hot chocolate served Luke warm. Overall not the best which is a shame as know this is a great venue when the sun is shining and things are more normal.

We visited The Swan on a Tuesday evening. When we arrived we were given a table that didn't have river views. We asked if we could change to a better table and the waiter very kindly found us a new table with views of the river. We ordered drinks and food, both which came very quickly and tasted great. The waiter was extremely friendly and looked after us (and our dog) very well! Thank you for a lovely visit!

We came here for dinner and drinks and the food was amazing, however I wasn’t given anything to actually eat my food with. After asking 3 different servers and waiting for 20 minutes, the cutlery still didn’t arrive and I ended up eating with my hands (very difficult to do with a left arm which doesn’t work properly) as the food was beginning to be cold as we were eating outside. The food itself was delicious though, despite the not so great experience.

We have eaten at Swan several times & have really enjoyed the food before. We booked weeks ago to come last Tuesday evening, we came with my in-laws who are in their 70's and were gutted the only choice of food were burgers! Was total disappointment as that isn't something they would eat. I don't remember seeing anything on website that stated it was the only choice of food & just to be told when we got there it was "limited menu" which was an under statement! Unfortunately the weather was chilly & we were put under marquee cover so no sun to enjoy & then we were informed all the heaters weren't working as run out of fuel so was bloody freezing!! All in all it was total disappointment

Popped here on a Sunday April afternoon and fair play this gaff is nicely located. However, we spied the roast from afar and concluded the large Yorkshire pub hiding a small amount of meat, pots and veg wasn’t worth the £18.50.We opted for the double house burger which you had to pay an extra £3.50 for some mucky old curly fries which were more akin to a kid’s meal accompaniment. It was ok like, but far from worth the money.The drinks again were way overpriced and the pub half empty, although fully booked. It didn’t lend itself well to having much of an atmos. Place was alright, but the ends don’t justify the means here. Try some more sensible prices and we’d be back. The George nearby is a bit rough and ready, but much better value in a competitive market.

We arrived at midday. No tables were taken and we were asked to sit in the marquee. They would not change our table even tho we were freezing and the other tables were in the sun with no customers at them. Very inflexible. Limited menu only burgers which were actually good but no deserts at all. You would think after 3 months of lock down they’d have sorted out a better system. Staff are excellent but the very restricted rules from management made this a very chilly experience. Will be a while before we go back.

Went to The Swan on a beautiful sunny day to enjoy their garden in the sunshine. But much to my dismay they have put a great big marquee up which blocks all of the sunshine and on a lovely warm day was left freezing cold. When asked to move tables to any one of their many free tables in the sunshine was told that we could not move and that was our only option. On top of this my drinks came out after I had ordered my food and my food was nothing to write home about. The burger patties were dry and tough and the ox cheek was very moist that it left the burger bun just smush.I really hope they remove the marquee when the sun is shining.

We are a quiet couple in our 50's. We were a bit disappointed with the table we were given (over looking the car park and next to a large young family). However, we asked if we could be moved and the staff were very accommodating and moved us to a seat overlooking the river which was beautiful. The only difficulty we had with our new table is that we didn't have cover and it started to rain slightly when our food arrived. The food was delicious. We ate quickly so as not to spoil our meal.

We had a lunch yesterday At The swan, our table was under the marquee - which felt more cooler than sitting in the sun. So we asked for the heater by our table to be put on but apparently it was broken and so was the other heater on a table next to us. We were kindly provided blankets. We enjoyed our lunch but we had to wait for cutlery etc and it was chilly so we ate quickly. I felt cold under the marquee and kept longing to sit in the sun.. The staff were accommodating and did allow us 30 minutes or so on a table in the sun after we had finished our lunch. The burgers were great and very tasty, just disappointed in the first week of outdoor eating the two heaters were broken. I will return but when the weather is warmer.

We visited two days after the most recent lockdown in April. It was a lovely fresh evening with the most beautiful sunset behind the river. The mood was great, everyone was relaxed and there weren’t the hoards of people that were seen in other pubs. We were greeted by a lovely host who was also able to help me with a few questions I had about alcohol free beers. Our waitress was super polite when she took our order and she even remembered that I questioned alcohol free beers at the entrance and replaced it when my friend put through a normal beer on the app. 10/10 for consideration and attention to detail.Our food was great and just what we wanted for a cold outdoor evening. We had the burger and curly fries which warmed us up!The menu was very limited which was perfectly understandable given that it was the first week back. I look forward to going back over the summer. This pub is so lovely and it’s perfect to go for a walk along the riverBefore or after :)

Honestly the best experience. So covid secure, their garden is fully prepared with loads of heaters and blankets available. You can order on the app and all the people working their were safe and sticking to the rules. The staff were kind and attentive to whatever we needed.

Met with family whom I hadn't seen for months so really looking forward to my lunch meeting. The waiter we had was superb a really nice happy chap. We ate our lovely food outside as we were from 2 households, after we finished our main course and eventually ordered our desert the heavens opened, as we were not allowed inside we were rushed to one of the huts, the lovely waiter then returned in the down pour with our deserts still in the same happy, helpful waiter although very wet. Every member of staff was so welcoming.

We'd booked-in for a Sunday roast on 18th October. The staff were super helpful when we called to push back by 15 mins due to a car issue. We then arrived to a friendly welcome and were taken to a fab table next to a fire. Two fab roast beef mains, an awesome Chocolate tart and a couple of glasses of Malbec / Young's Special later, and we were well and truely stuffed. Great food, good portions and fab drinks. Popped in for early dinner with young children on Saturday. Warm welcome (staff member holding door open for us with a smile). Good measures in place for Covid including clear explanation of mask wearing if moving around the pub. We ordered through the app which worked well. Drinks and food arrived quickly which was great for us with impatient children! We enjoyed the fish&chips and burgers. Wheelchair access to the pub and accessible toilet with radar key. Look forward to coming back in the sunshine to enjoy the terrace overlooking the river.

We went there this Sunday on 27 September, I book a table the week before. So we arrive on time 12:30 and start to decide what to order on the app which I really find very hard to use, and finally the waiter come up asking us if we want the menu and we all say yes! So around 13:20 we was eating only our starter and the waiter show up asking us if we was ready for the principal meal, oblivious we no was ready so we say to the lady "we don't decide yet" and she answered to us that " oh ok because I need the table around at 13:50" and I was concerned about that, cause I book the table and then I have to leave like that so I answer to her "even if I want to I will never get in time to finish by 13:50 is impossible" she was trying to tell us we got a plenty time which it wasn't and to convince us to go outside which it was cold that day, she was insisting but she goes to speak to the manager to “resolve the problem". On the meantime show up another waiter which I stopped her and showing her my time slot it was until 14:30 and tell her what it was the problem she say to us "ok not worry I'm really sorry about what happened I'm going to speak with my manager, take your time to order and eat!" She was very kind and try to resolve the problems!Food it was delicious cannot complain but the service totally nope I mean cannot put a waiter that she doesn't know how to do the job or at less be informed about the tables is booked or not and also insisting to the customer is a bit rude! It was also my birthday that they know! It was a bit stress on the start but then another lady resolve and find the solution so it end better! Customer service need to be improve and also the app menu is no working good.

Asked waitresses twice to see if the order had been correctly received but I had to walk up to the pub from the garden to get any answers. Apparently they were changing the barrel..Disappointing pint when it did finally come.. won't be rushing back.. Big shame as such a lovely spot. Hopefully the system does improve with more practice.

My friend and I decided to try the Swan as it was a lovely evening. The hostess was extremely accommodating as originally we were seated inside but she managed to get a table outside and we moved and watched a beautiful sunset. The Young app to order is really easy and intuitive and our food and drinks arrived shortly afterwards. The staff serving were polite, kept the right distance when delivering the food. The outside area has a great vibe to it and wonderful views of the river. When we were leaving the hostess appeared out of the blue and thanked us for coming. A lovely pub with nice staff, great food and good atmosphere inside and out. What else do you need my friend who had travelled from London said we needed to go back... That's big coming from her. Go check it out!

Sunday lunch was ruined by the terrible app used by young pubs. Whilst I understand the need to reduce contact it seems ridiculous not to offer an alternative ordering system, (when I asked because the app was so rubbish and I had spent 20 mins trying to order they said they were not taking table or bar orders). What happens if like my parents you don't have a smart phone? Firstly you have to register for the app, then you have to sign in, then you have to register and sign into the swans wi fi to get into the app (which didn't work) it is a joke. When my husband finally managed to get into the app you have to order food and drinks separately it is a JOKE, come on youngs you can do better. Because of all the issues our friends food came out way before ours which was a real shame. Roast chicken was nice but the potatoes had clearly been cooked the day before and were tough as old boots. And finally, the servers are not wearing masks or visors which I think could worry many people.

First, let me just say that the pub and its grounds are swell. Really. Especially on a warm summer's day. Sitting outside in the pub garden, the sun setting over Walton's meandering of the Thames, pints of Moretti - or perhaps glasses of red wine in hand - broccoli tempura on the table - well it's perfect. Even now, with orders placed via the Young's on Tap app, you can still enjoy the idyll as described with the added pleasure and convenience of being able to keep the drinks flowing with a few taps of the finger without having to gooseneck for a waiter. The drinks and plates of food come fast enough too, which, as we all know when we've got the thirst, can never come fast enough. Inside the pub, well, it's standard pub decor with tables spread out to observe the requisite meterage of our times - one metre plus - and a quiet, sometimes latent buzz far from the more ebullient days of tables of 6 or more and standing room only. In short, all very much under control. Which is why I found it disappointing to order my food via the app - two salads, two burgers and a bottle of Pinot Grigio - only to receive the salads in under 5 minutes but no wine till after the salads - which were tasty - were eaten and just before our burgers arrived. Now, why wouldn't I get up and say something? I would have. But for the fact my fiancee just flew back from a week-long business trip - late - and we couldn't decide if we were more famished, starved of conversation and news of each other, tired (it was late) or thirsty. We settled on starved of conversation as we inhaled our salads - which, I give the pub, were super tasty - after which it dawned on us: what happened to the wine? Shouldn't that have come first? I checked the app to see that my order was all there, plain to see - two peach, walnut, feta and rocket salads, two burgers (one add bacon), one bottle of Pinot Grigio (two glasses). Surely whoever took the order would have seen the list and organised the drinks first? Nope. It seems drinks were one person's responsibility and food another's, each one bringing his and her goods to the table when available, Wagamama-style, neither acknowledging the slip-up. If this is the new business as usual at a time when business is anything but (with prices obstinately clinging to their higher pasts), then I think it's worth mentioning that the pub has to do better. We need businesses that not only find ways to ensure social distancing and food can work together again in the new normal, but also make every effort to enable customers to reconnect over meals in the process. Yes, it seems like a lot to say over so small an oversight. But small details - like wine before starters, a nod to omissions, an appreciation of the evening sun flickering over the Thames - are time well spent.

We went for lunch at this lovely pub in a great location sitting right on the river. We received a warm welcome on arrival and ordered through the app, which we found easy to use. Our drinks arrived promptly - a great selection of gins and cocktails - very tasty!! Our food was delicious, nice and hot and good sized portions. The staff were lovely, nothing was too much trouble - they were polite, helpful and friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them. We are looking forward to our next visit!!

We arrived late for our reservation but were still welcomed warmly. Our table was well spaced from others and the place was not crowded. The food portions were huge, but smaller plates/starters were available. The wine list was great! The only criticism was over the online ordering. It took about 15 minutes to get through the Wifi registration, downloading the app, and then reregistering on the app - I gave up in the end but was allowed to order the old fashioned way. Not the fault of the pub, but something Youngs need to fix!

First Sunday lunch since lockdown and it didn’t disappoint. As with all eateries there is a reduced menu, but there was still a varied and great choice, for vegetarians/vegans too. I had the nut roast and it was delicious. Our food arrived quickly, was hot and my nut roast was packed full of flavour. The staff were all really friendly and we had great service throughout. Additionally, I was impressed with all the measures in place for their customers’ health and safety. Adequate distance between tables and plenty of hand sanitiser stations, outside and inside.

Been coming here for over 20 years so know the pub very well.We booked a table in the garden and were seated. We were asked straight away if we wanted any drinks and ordered them. After about 10 minutes all the drinks arrived apart from a tap water. They apologised and said they would go and get it. Another 10 minutes passed and still nothing so asked another member of staff. Yet another 10 minutes passed and asked yet another member of staff and it finally arrived!!Something tells me if it was a bottle of moet that had been ordered it wouldn't of taken over 30 minutes to arrive!!A VERY limited menu with only a handful of items available. We'd been on the previous Saturday and ordered a burger and chips which was just over £10. This visit was on a Wednesday during the Eat Out To Help Out campaign and the price of the burger had shot up to over £14!We also asked for the curly fries that we'd had the previous Saturday only to be told they don't serve them on a weekday!1 of us ordered the chicken salad and it was pathetic. Literally 3 ingredients and sadly not worth it even at half price. Won't be in a rush to return unfortunately.

Large crowd of men allowed to sit in restaurant area just drinking and within a metre of next tables. This caused anxiety and ruined our meal. Good service but 12.5% SERVICE CHARGE not stated on menu.! Limited and very expensive menu...mains £10 to £18 sides £4.00 Desserts £5 - £7 Food nicely cooked and presented...elderflower and gooseberry trifle just gorgeous.Not a relaxing or pleasant restaurant experience I'm afraid, Atmosphee not nice and inadequate COVID protection measures.

Where do I start?! We walked into the swan without a booking during the EOTHO scheme (risky) however after queuing for 10 minutes due to the demand we were welcomed with a smiling member of staff who took our details for track and trace and welcomed us to a table in the lovely beer garden. The garden was full yet we felt safe due to the covid secure measures. Hand sanitiser, social distancing and good hygiene were present throughout the whole pub. We were told all their rules and regulations and felt comfortable to be dining with them. A concise but varied menu was given and we were recommended the delicious mussels and fish pie. Our server Jess was very welcoming and we felt at ease at the swan; will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff members at the swan; we will definitely be back!

In a nutshell data harvesting rather than track and trace, filled in forms for booking on the door, track and trace, wifi and downloaded app. Then had to set up members account and never received verification to proceed to ordering. Not allowed to order at bar. Staff never asked where we would like to sit despite only have a handful of customers. 20 minutes after arrival We walked out to anglers next door and got a pint in 5 minutes after all forms filled in.

Stopped off to grab a drink they were very accomodating. Had to then book a table on the app which was a little slow but once downloaded worked well. Great nibbles. Drinks were great only negative no nuts but ...... great staff , clean toilets always a good sign. 5*

We visited for the Sunday roast and was disappointed as the quality was not up to previous visits. Perhaps covid has something to do with it, I dont know, but both quality and presentation was down on the usual standard.

I know it’s tough to decide what’s right but none of the staff wore masks and as now you order on an app, they serve at your table, it was a little disconcerting. We were originally sat outside but it began to drizzle, the heaters had no gas, so couldn’t be used, however the staff really excelled and found us a table inside, 10 out of 10 for the staff, very friendly.

They managed to fit us in late on into the day which we appreciated. The decor and feel was great for a date night. The menu was limited, but staple options avaliable. A very friendly staff and attentive service. We will happily continue frequenting here.

The Swan in Walton is a lovely pub with beautiful exterior seating options.On the day of our visit we had booked to be seated outside however it was pouring of rain; without me contacting them, The Swan called and offered me an outdoor space in one of their huts which I gladly accepted. Upon arrival the team offered fantastic customer service from start to finish. We enjoyed some lovely food and beverages whilst overlooking the river. Thank you to all at The Swan.

We booked alfresco dinning and were seated by helpful staff at a good sized table with river views (they all have them as it’s a pub right by the river!) We used to go loads pre lockdown as we live nearby, but this was an even better experience as it was quieter and table service.Food was really good, we had a burger and Camembert (Lovely chutney and crispy toasted bread). It was full table service. Drinks and food arrived quickly. I had a problem with my drink (turned out the lemonade had finished) and they swapped it no fuss.There were enough tables and music for it to have a little atmosphere, but well placed and super safe for covid times (also hand gel available to all and staff clearly using it between guests).Better than ever, will be going again soon.

My wife had the fish & chips she said it was good, I had the fish pie to be honest it wasn't that good ,There was a rocket salad with it ,I would think a rocket salad means rocket , tomato, cucumber etc .But no it was only a bowl of rocket drizzled with oil.I only ate a few leaves and left the rest.It was the only place we have been to where they reduced the vat from 20 % to % 5 ,Worth a visit , If its on the menu have the chicken pie .It was not on the menu when we went,You have to pre book .The staff are friendly .We sat inside it was a bit hot the day temp was 36 ,

Had a lovely drink and dinner last night. Like a previous reviewer we were given a table overlooking The car park while many tables in the garden remained empty. ‍♀️ However when we saw a party arrive then leave 2 min later we asked to change tables (for the one they didn’t want!) and ended up with the river view we wanted! Love ordering via app-saves having to wait for attention from staff! Staff friendly and patient, first time out since feb so was glad it felt safe. They’ve definitely removed tables in the garden so everyone is further apart.

We booked a table the day before for a hut in the garden for 4 adults and 2 toddlers. We were told we could have the hut for 2 hours. The setup was absolutely great! 2 x sofas and 2 comfy stools with a long low coffee table. Perfect for picky food like starters and sides but probably a little more difficult if you wanted a normal meal. This was perfect for us though with a group and the kids. We downloaded the app prior to arrival and found it so simple and easy to use. Service was pretty quick considering how busy it was, food was great and drinks were cold! I’ve been to the swan a few times before and always had a good experience but the huts are really fab! Will definitely be booking again as the hut was a perfect place to entertain toddlers letting them move around without impacting other guests.

Efficient service via app however very disappointed that having booked an outdoor table a week in advance expecting a river view we were stuck looking at the car park and told all other tables booked despite several being empty during our 2 hour booking and then appearing to be given to regulars who were known to staff.

Efficient but really friendly service properly cleaned tables and lovely food served hot meant a great evening sitting outside in the garden with friends . There is clearly good spirit among the staff who share the responsibilities and help each other out. The app takes a bit of getting used to but once you get used to it the drinks appear faster than before lockdown. Great pub .

Lovely to be able to sit in the garden with tables well spaced. Very friendly staff who were attentive and helpful. Reduced menu but my steak was cooked perfectly and my friend said the sausages were the best he had tasted.

We came to The Swan for drinks & upon arrival we were promptly greeted by Iz who explained how the pub was currently operating. When we were shown to our table, key points were clearly pointed out, sanitizing stations, toilets and we were encouraged to use the Youngs on Tap app which we did. A brilliant app that was clearly explained how to use by the staff, which allows you to order food, drinks and even to pay your bill. The staff made us feel very at ease with their big smiles and the service we received was fantastic! We have visited other local Pubs since lockdown has been eased and we felt The Swan was far more geared up and ready for opening under the current guidelines/restrictions compared to the others. Needless to say, we have already booked our next visit! Well done and thank you to all the staff for such an enjoyable evening.

We had a table of 6 for Sunday lunch on Feb 23 - 4 adults and 2 very lively boys plus our equally lively dog . The pub and restaurant were really busy and the staff were rushed off their feet . Despite that the food was delicious and the service from Basia was outstanding. It’s also great that all the staff help each other out. Thanks a lot for a lovely afternoon .

We came in on Sunday for birthday celebrations for my mother in law. I can not fault from start to finish. My daughter and I came in early to set up and although it was busy basia and Vincent had time to help set up the table for the celebrations that were to take place. As the rest of the party got here dan came over to take our drinks order and was lovely and very professional, his service was amazing. We had bread to start and roast dinners all around. The roasts were huge, with amazing flavour and quality, the cauli cheese was a must have!! My nieces had kids pasta and it was an Great size and they loved it. Our glasses were never empty and our drinks kept being poured - Thanks Jessie!! We cheekily brought it 2 cakes for my mother in laws birthday which was not a problem, they even platted our cakes up and brought it out with candles lit, along with plates and forks. I can’t fault the service, the staff always go the extra mile to make sure you are looked after and having a wonderful time. The food was amazing, service was fantastic and the time spent with my family was great. A big thank you to the swan team, Vincent, Basia, Jessie, Dan, Jess and all the others that helped look after us.... and the chefs!!!! Dawny

The food was good but the service not so. We felt constantly pressured to finish our food. Stafff were trying to clear plates before the meals were finished and told us we wanted the bill. When we arrived it appeared that they didn’t have a table ready for us even though we had booked. Service seemed abrasive!

A lively, memorable night - We received our pre-ordered platters promptly, each were delicious and catered to the all the groups tastes; including allergies (veggie,farmhouse,pudding)!We all enjoyed a relaxed, stress free evening, all thanks to the staff and their hard work!As the evening progressed the DJ engaged everyone and had all types of parties up dancing! The pub was beautifully decorated, with balloons, confetti poppers, lights and even a photo opportunity area- this really added to our celebration experience. The food, staff, and atmosphere were great and I just cannot fault - highly recommend to anyone looking to celebrate NYE next year or any occasion with a large group! Very impressed, I’m sure we will be back :)

What a way to enter the New Year! Upon arrival, the staff was super attentive and showed us to our table straight away. The service was flawless throughout the whole night. One of the members of the group has an allergy to milk and egg and the chefs were very accommodating to this which was excellent. I would recommend the Veggie platter - my personal favorite part of the platter was the cheese puff. The atmosphere throughout the night was buzzing with the DJ and all the decorations adding to this. Thank you to Sophia and the rest of the Swan team for a great evening. We will be returning!!

As a regular at The Swan we decided to come here for New Year's Eve and we didn't regret it! We were a table of 6 with 2 veg, 1 meat and 1 fish platter which was more than enough. The portions were generous and the food as lovely! Excellent table service from Agatha, and of course all the other girls and guys working hard through out the night. With a DJ it was a great way to ring in the new year!

Myself and a group of friends came here for New Year’s Eve and it was absolutely brilliant! We had a table reserved that was ready when we arrived with the drinks that we had pre-ordered all ready to go. The food platters were great and the atmosphere was fantastic. We have stopped off here a few times while out walking along the Thames at Walton on Thames in Surrey. Always good beer on tap and always friendly staff around. Had a few good meals here too. Although we have our favourites the menu does change occasionally so it's nice to try something new once in a while. Great outdoor seating area and very dog friendly too!

We had a superb afternoon at The Swan on Christmas day. Vincent and his team were so hospitable and as usual there was no effort they wouldn’t go to to ensure you had an enjoyable meal . The lunch itself was lovely - enough choice including vegetarian options - the Christmas lunch needed to be prebooked - really nice and portions were more than generous (I didn’t have room for desert). The setting in the pub was very warm and friendly. Vincent - and his staff - clearly put a lot of effort into ensuring everyone is looked after . We have been there many times and would recommend a visit. They are happy to accept dogs as well which is really appreciated by us .

Beautiful pub, cozy and in a lovely location. The staff were friendly and approachable. The kids menu was great with a good selection of choice. Portions were a good size, not too much on your plate as you often find these days. The reason I only gave 4 stars was because we weren’t told what wasn’t available on the menu - I had to change my order twice because my first & second choices were not available. Also, the ploughman’s choice is far too fancy for a ‘ploughman’s, what’s wrong with cheddar, ham and branston pickle?! Perhaps if you made it less fancy, you’d be able to have it as a single serving rather than costing it as a sharing platter... Other than that, it is a beautiful pub and we will definitely be coming back!
