Food was okay I will never go there again for roast way to much fat and there was only 3 tiny potatoes and little vegetables all straight from the freezer The food was only warm almost cold My daughter enjoyed her fish and chips All overpriced for what they offer

Another lovely experience at the Swan - superb food, generous portions, tasty & well-priced NZ rose wine. Service was relaxed which was just as we wanted - friendly & attentive when required but we were left to enjoy a relaxing afternoon catching up with friends without feeling we were outstaying our welcome! Staff took great photos too…

Really lovely place! Perfect traditional, historic pub setting - it's large, but still feels comfy and cosy with a good atmosphere. Food was delicious, and we were particularly impressed with our lovely server, Daisy. Daisy was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to dairy contents of the menu. And to top it all off, it was very reasonably priced! We're not local, but we will definitely endeavour to return 😊.

To be honest I had great expectations, from the outside the pub looks amazing and location is perfect. However the service didn’t measure too much, a smile goes a long way. Food, I had the T-bone pork with triple cooked chips which sounds amazing but when it came the chips could have floated away in the grease and the pork was overdone. Overall experience- disappointing.

This was my family’s first visit to the swan and we had high hopes, but they were quickly diminished. The place is lovely and the staff are great, but the food is disappointing vs a great menu. My burger bun was visibly wet with oil making it inedible. Thankfully, I took the top bun off and was greeted by a lovely hair inside.. the waitress didn’t seem very shocked but gladly refunded it for me. My son has a nut allergy and is very fussy. He asked for a kids burger but without the cheese.. the burger was brought out to him and it had cheese inside so we had to send this back. The burger patty wasn’t a full patty and weirdly looked like it had a section missing. My partners mussels were ok but he said they were tasteless and the sourdough was really dry and tough. I ordered hommous and crudités for my baby and the hommous just looked like porridge. She isn’t fussy and eats anything but even she refused that. This pub has so much potential to be great… just such a shame that the food is such a let down.

Clean your tables! We had to take empty glasses after someone else to the bar from our table whilst table next to us was not cleaned for hours. You even see staff casually bringing food or drinks but just ignore the mess around. Also had the thinnest layer of hummus on the plate I have ever seen for £9! Been here many times before, today was a disappointment.

We stopped here whilst cycling out to Windsor from London along the Thames Path. What an excellent place. Really good food. We had the toad in the hole (Massive, well laid out portion) and the cottage pie which was super good along with the deep fried Kale! My favourite new thing! Reminded me of the seaweed you get in Chinese take away. Scrummy. All in, a good experience, tasty food and I am sure the ambience is excellent in the evenings.

Good venue and service however we all had the roast beef which was very disappointing. Tough and that’s an understatement- my partner had to leave hers, the rest of us chewed on through… A definite thumbs down and regretfully we won’t be visiting again for a Sunday roast. There are plenty of other great options in the area. Such a shame as we like the venue itself.

Maybe the chef had a day off? Service was hit and miss. From an overly casual and dismissive 'hi' on the way in to a charming and effective waitress, it was our food where we felt let down. My onion soup was unforgiveably under heated - cold from half-way down. It was quickly replaced with a piping-hot replacement and to be fair delicious. The mains mussels my wife ordered were the smallest variety. Hardly a main course meal costing £21. My fish and chips were decent but a low bar. The chips were decent but the few tranches of Heritage pumpkin were burned / scored on the skin. A rush job or meant to be discarded? Who knows, at least £5 was a good price point. We skipped dessert as we were on a schedule. All up, not sure I would recommend or go back... Unfulfilled potential.

I popped in just before Christmas at the weekend and it was busy. I was met by Wendy when I was looking for somewhere to sit and eat with my family. Wendy and her team went out of the way to make us feel welcomed and got us sat down. Then while being served anything was set to the pace we wanted and made for a real lovely evening. The food was decent and what you’d expect from an establishment such as this. Not been here for a few years and we’ve already said we’ll come back. Might even use the garden as a watering hole again in the summer. Thank you to Wendy and her team for a lovely evening and being made to feel welcomed and valued from start to finish. We’ll be back.

5 of us had Christmas lunch at the Swan. The pub was dressed beautifully and had a wonderful Christmas feel. We were seated promptly and drinks orders taken. Although we made it explicitly clear no pork on the booking form, and again when we arrived with the waitress. All 4/5 meals came out with pigs in blankets. The staff were over apologetic and sent our meals back, all of which were replaced in a timely manner. The food was delicious, well presented everyone cleared their plates. Only negative would be the cold Yorkshire’s puddings. The staff were attentive, courteous and all in good spirit.

I came for Christmas Day dinner with my partner and I have to say I disagree with the other reviews and I feel quite disappointed with the experience this year. I had the cauliflower soup which was cold, watery and bland and the bowl it was in was half the size of last years, the scallops my partner had were awful they were hard and chewy, the mains took nearly 1 hour to come after the starters were cleared. The Brussels sprouts were rock hard we could not cut into them! There was 1 small slice of turkey, a small child could prob eat more and the piece of duck was chewy, the gravy was watery and very runny and the 2 roast potato’s were anemic looking and there was no more than one small teaspoon of swede. No stuffing and I notice from another reviewers photo they had cranberry sauce in a little pot on the side of the plate, we didn’t get this and wasn’t offered any. The chocolate mouse was not creamy and had a powdery texture which was not nice. The positives were it was a friendly atmosphere, the drinks were fine and the Yorkshire puddings was good. Overall this was disappointing for nearly £100 a person , I can only think that because we had booked for the later time that they had run out of things or they just could be bothered anymore. We have been twice before this and those times were great but this was totally different this year so we will not be returning next year.

My mushroom and jackfruit main meal was delicious. My Bakewell tart was scrumptious. However, my aunt faired less well and she didn't like the mushroom and squash risotto, but I think it was personal taste, rather than the dish. However, the staff offered her a free desert which I think was kind of them. She had a chocolate brulee which although she said was tasty didn't appear to be a brulee at all - no crispy top. £20 for a roast dinner that we couldn't cut the beef on, we left hungry. There really wasn't enough food to justify a £20 spend, 1/4 of a carrot, a dessert spoon of mash, a dessert spoon of leafy greens and peas mix and 3 roast potatoes. Lovely Yorkshire but that's not so filling, and 3 small slices of beef that we couldn't cut. The food was also cold, and we didn't get table water as promised or checked up on during our meal. Make no mistake, The Albert Arms is back! Once the place to go in Esher, recent years have been disappointing, but no longer. New management, a consistently friendly welcome and a fabulous Sunday lunch. Deliciously pink roast beef, a proper Yorkshire pudding, perfectly cooked root vegetables and dishes of green vegetables and simply the best roast potatoes I have ever eaten away from home. Puddings were equally good, sticky toffee with caramelised bananas and ice cream was super and the Apple and red fruit crumble with vanilla custard received a rave review. Please go out of your way to enjoy a splendid lunch in a warm, friendly environment. We will be back. Thank you. PS If you prefer your roast beef less pink, say so, for our party it was perfect. One of the reasons the meat is so good is that is is sourced fresh from from Smithfield.
