Worth the walk up the hill after completing the Brighton Marathon 2025. Great tempura prawns 🍤 Nice attentive staff, very authentic decor. It got really busy out of no where...good sign for us Londoners. Love the customer illustrations board😍

Came across this pub while having a walk around The Lane, made to feel very welcome by the staff who were friendly and appreciated you visiting their pub We went to order food, where the bar staff were very apologetic that the kitchen has closed for an hour - never mind one of those things We decided to visit some more pub in the area and oh what a mistake we made, one smelt of wet dogs the other the bar staff really weren’t interested if you visited or not We decided to return to the Hop Poles at which time the kitchen had opened there were different staff on but again they were very friendly. The food and service was excellent, all in all a great experience in the Hop Poles - well done to all that work their In Brighton April and revisited for afternoon drink again super welcome and the playlist playing was so good. Asked what it was 12hattie give her a follow on Spotify !!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Waitrose Western Road, Brighton today while shopping for a last-minute birthday cake for my daughter’s 17th. With time running out and options looking slim, a wonderful store employee named Rio came to the rescue. Not only did Rio help locate a beautiful birthday cake, but they also went the extra mile to find candles and sparklers to complete the celebration. Their kindness, attentiveness, and genuine willingness to help turned what could have been a stressful dash into a really uplifting and memorable moment. This kind of exceptional customer service is rare and deserves to be recognised. Thank you, Rio – you made our day!

Food and drinks are Pret standard. However, 2h before closing time they close off the back of the seating area and toilets, and in front even some tables have chairs on top of them. Also, they start cleaning, mopping when still an hour to closing time and we are still drinking tea. Updated review in 2025 still the same. When hour is still left for working, it feels like staff wants you to leave or not come in and buy anything. :(

Hoy me encontré con esta joyita cuando visité los carriles con mi madre. Habíamos estado paseando por los carriles en busca de un regalo de cumpleaños y decidimos parar a tomar una taza de té y discutir las opciones de joyas para elegir. Entramos y de inmediato el personal nos recibió con una sonrisa tomamos asiento en la ventana y nos dieron menús, el olor de los bollos horneando llenó el salón de té. Optamos por el té crema y era preciosa una olla enorme de té fresco y bollo precioso con mermelada y crema. Buena relación calidad-precio. Y una joya escondida de un lugar donde parar. Tuve una charla encantadora sobre las opciones de pasteles y como un cocinero casero razonable que le encanta hornear tuve que pedir consejos sobre los bollos (ya que los míos nunca son tan ligeros como estos) Algunos consejos y voy a probarlo. Personal amable y una buena selección de golosinas del salón de té. Bien recomendado una visita. Sin duda volveremos a aparecer la próxima vez que visitemos la zona.

Delicious food and lovely staff

Had a lovely toastie and a scoop of ice cream at this beautiful cafe. Definitely worth a visit for the first floor! I'm team Kuromi, but Melody fans welcome too...

Great if you like beef, but if you're waiting for other meats...they come far too infrequently. We also found ourselves inundated by meat servers in the first 30 minutes, then forgotten about. After waiting 45 minutes for any servers to come back to our table (yes, we had our green cards showing) we gave up and asked for the bill. Having made 3 requests to 3 different staff over a period of 25 minutes, we still had to go up and ask for the bill so we could settle up and leave. Again, if you like beef, you'll get value for money. If you prefer other meets or have gluten allergies (some of the meets are coated) far less so. Mixed reviews for mixed offering and mixed service.

Great food with good customer service. Very reasonable priced and good portion sizes. We all ordered the chicken Gyros and all enjoyed them thoroughly.

Wow this is sick a cool Place. We stumbled upon this for there tapas advertising and classsic 7o/80s music 🎶 the vibe was amazing the food was spectacular and everyone was having a Lovely time. We stayed all day. It was magic.

We managed to get a table in The Coal Shed on a Saturday evening, just by chance as we walked past it looked amazing so we enquired whether they could seat us for dinner. Luckily they could. The decor and ambience is fabulous, low lighting and everything is immaculate and so stylish! The service is second to none- we had our wine glasses topped up throughout, the waiters were so polite and charming. Absolutely EXCELLENT standard of service. We shared a plate of Lindisfarne Oysters to start, which were divine. Then for our main courses we had the Sussex rotisserie chicken and the North Atlantic Halibut (this was my choice) it didn’t disappoint! It was a buttery soft, perfectly cooked piece of fish with a tangy sauce filled with capers and samphire. My partner praised his half chicken as incredibly tasty! The bill was very reasonable too. I highly recommend The Coal Shed in Brighton for a superb meal with outstanding service.

Fuimos cinco de nosotros que visitamos el restaurante para un almuerzo. Nos sentamos afuera en el clima soleado, pedimos nuestros pre tragos que llegaron rápidamente. Pedimos diferentes platos principales y llegaron al mismo tiempo. Genial. Cuatro de nosotros teníamos un desierto. Todos estábamos muy contentos con la comida, cómo sabía y la presentación. Nuestro camarero estaba muy bien informado y nos cuidó muy bien y tenía la actitud correcta. Todos estábamos muy contentos con el almuerzo y contentos con la calidad total relacionada con el precio.

No.32 hosted a party for me. I can honestly say the staff and the atmosphere were amazing. If you need a party venue definitely consider No.32

We were served by Maksimilian and it was our first visit to the Asia restaurant. As expected, the decor, atmosphere, service and food were all fantastic and were the perfect setting for our daughter’s birthday.
