Waitrose & Partners Brighton in Brighton and Hove

It's a great place to come for weekly shopping. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The only thing is that the price is more expensive than the other supermarkets. Love the tomatoes here.

Expensive than rest of the grocery shops but fruits are very fresh

Overall, it’s a good place for shopping. However, my last experience was unpleasant—I felt like a criminal even though I had no reason to. A staff member pulled us aside and checked all our bags without any explanation. I understand if it was a random check or a standard procedure, but it would have been much better if they had first explained the situation. A simple clarification that it wasn’t personal would have made a big difference. I wouldn’t have felt bad if someone had just taken a moment to explain before checking our bags.

Grrrr, why only selling Israeli avocados when there are plenty from other countries. ....... The lack of vegan Ginsters pasties, and the fact they are so often out of interesting vegan cheeses is disappointing. Plus, their end of the day, prices to buy items on the use by date, are barely any less than the usual prices. Friendly staff though.

The manager and his team have always gone above and beyond to keep customers feeling valued. Service is always efficient with a smile and friendly interest. Highly recommend.

Been using this branch for the last 20 years. It’s great location, great staff can find most things needed for weekly and daily food shopping. Parking it’s a bit of an Isurance but isn’t much can be done due to the location. So excellent overall.

The big issue Guy outside would like to be offered water by staff odd times but 0 times is. Not even spoken to. Otherwise the colleagues aren't as talkative to customers as they used to be

Good store, usually well stocked. They are getting better with their vegan and plant based alternatives. There are often some great offers and discounts. The store is not always the cleanest and sometimes staff are hard to find when help is needed.

When is the Alpro organic, no sugars soya milk (long life) coming back? Empty space for ages. The others are highly processed with gum or whatever, or sugar laden.

The Big Issue seller outside the shop is consistently rude and makes me feel uncomfortable every time I enter the shop.

I'm new to Hove and needed to find a big supermarket like Waitrose. With Google Maps assistance, I was able to walk and find it. It's a well-stocked store with everything I needed. Highly recommend.

Ok I should give it more marks. Staff were friendly and helpful, shelves stocked well. BUT it was Christmas. The car park was a nightmare of tight spaces, SUVs and angry, stressed people trying to negotiate one of the most horrible car parks I have visited. And I live in Brighton where car parks are designed by train operators. Then into the store. Tight aisles badly laid out and it’s Christmas so filled with bad attitudes and angry, desperate customers. Jesus never thought that this birthday would cause so much pain, misery and frustration.

Cashier at self check out was quite rude. Pass the remarks while I was using the self-service ...

Having added a note, requesting that my organic bananas were ripe, as I was making a Banoffee Pie, I received a note back, saying that as organic were not available you had given me a bunch of bananas on the house because you didn't want me to have just 'toffee pie.' How sweet is that! In a year where I lost my beloved dog, my friend, Aunt and my precious Grandson, it made me smile and made my day. Thank you Waitrose Brighton. :oD

Why have you stopped selling the organic frozen peas and the organic mixed veg. I ll now have to get these products online from somewhere else!

Probably the worst place on earth

They are now trying to force everyone to use the slow self check-out, so you have to queue for a long time if you want service. They don't add more staff to the tills even when the queues are long at non-peak times.

Great shop in the middle of brighton and hove. Deceptively large and has everything one could want. The staff in here are friendly and knowledgeable and there are more tills here than you can poke a stick at. The self service ones at least, but noone really wants manned tills anyway, too much conversation for my liking. Anyway I digress, great shop and good selection of flowers also

Love Waitrose products and shopping here apart from the intimidating security especially the tall one who makes you feel like a thief. It puts me off shopping here

Just disorganised and long winded in every way.... NEVER AGAIN

Used to be lovely shopping here. The same friendly faces serving at the checkouts, bit of a natter…. Now they’re trying to force everyone to use the soulless and soul-destroying self-checkouts by barely having any proper tills staffed. Hideous. And the self-check outs don’t even work properly. Nul points.

Just swapped from self checkouts without weighing machines to self checkout with weighing machines. One of my favourite things about the store is my day wasn't disrupted by a bunch of useless machines misweighing everything and slowing everything, causing me to have to interact with people unneccessarily and generally they just drag the whole shopping experience down. This feels like a massive step backwards. ETA: I was in yesterday and took even better stock of the situation. It appears half of the normal tills have disappeared and the self checkouts have taken their place. You'd think this would mean more self checkouts than before but there appear to be less total. Before it was something like 16 self checkouts and now it's less but taking up more room. There were massive queues as a result. Just poor decision making all around on this one.

Waitrose is fine on its own this store specifically tho like the staff seem a bit bored get em a raid or something

Needlessly rude service from someone called Ruby today. I love Waitrose but I’ll avoid that awful person in future visits.

Used to be friendly in this store and I previously left a four star review. Seems like there has been a change of staff. The staff there now all seem rather fed up. Far friendlier in the Hove Tesco so I’ll probably go there now more often.

Lots of prepared and fresh food, good supermarket if you want to eat cheap

Buyer beware as if they sneak fresh products past you that go off the next day then the computer says no for an immediate exchange. Well they said nothing for 10ish mins as I waited for someone to come to the CS desk. Date was impossible to read with sunglasses and they’re no use to us so i left them for the food bank. The least they could have done is refund one of the packs / bogof on some replacements. Sure they’re not obliged but everyone doesn’t do this so thats a silly argument. Looks like a waitrose but doesn’t feel like one. Win the argument, lose the customer.

Very fresh clean store..I buy knosher products and was a little disappointed at size of range but lovely produce

I tried their sourdough white. Stale. 2 days old at least. Usually I bake my own bread; I know what is fresh and what is old. Waitrose sells stale bread as fresh. It's so sad. Aldi's sourdough boule is fresher and cheaper. My home made white tin makes Waitrose's "fresh" bread look like dog food. Edit Summer 2024: I didn't try their bread again! However I do go in occasionally as they have some excellent Cheddar and sometimes some truly great deals on ale and spirits. But if you're on Western Road, Brighton don't buy your bread here, go to Real Patisserie and get real bread, or make your own. I amended my rating from one to four stars as they are so polite and after I've snagged my discounted booze and cheese I get a free coffee too!

Doh! More rotten food from this branch. I really need to remember my own reviews. Be careful about quality and freshness in this store. You need to carefully check any fresh produce. You will be surprised how much is off.

The one in Hove has a meat counter where they don’t ignore you

I'm talking about an experience I had on Tuesday, I went to the self-checkout to pay for my items, and so I waited after the checkouts for my friend who had finished paying for his items. While waiting on the side, the person in charge of the automatic cash registers comes to call me telling me that people at the automatic cash registers were refused payment and that they left, I did not see these people, they must have had the same age as me, she told me that they were my friends so I absolutely didn't know these people, she grabbed my arm and forced me to pay the amount which was 8€ because either They were my friends even though I didn't know these people, and yet I told him again. she wanted to scare me and took advantage of my vulnerability of not being comfortable with English because I am French and on a language trip. I explained to her a lot of times that I didn't know these people but she didn't want to hear anything, she told me that she had the cameras etc? I don't see the connection, it's not me on the cameras, but she said it in a way that made me panic so I paid out of fear even though I had nothing to do with it. It's shameful ma'am

Everything about the food and wine in Waitrose is delicious, the shop is fabulously well stocked, the staff are lovely and the price of course reflects the higher level of service. 😋

I don't normally review supermarkets but I loved the customer service here. Really friendly and helpful. There is free parking provided you leavr within an hour and a half

There seems to have been a re-organisation of the fruit and veg section in recent weeks. The choice seems to have been greatly reduced but more concerning is that virtually everything is wrapped in massive amounts of plastic. An example are the apples, where you used to have at least 4 or 5 loose varieties. Now there is just the one with everything else in plastic. This is a disgusting example of not caring at all about the environment and noticeably very different from say Sainsbury’s in New England Street.

Great supermarket - my only 'minor' moan is that they keep running low on vegetables.

Really nice store, helpful staff. But no loo’s !!! Waitrose not like you to let the customer down. Would have been 4 Star, but no loo’s is never good for a Supermarket.

Waitrose is more expensive than its competitors and apart from the deli, meat & fish counters, (which are first rate), is only average in quality and produce availability. Hence three stars from me.

Despite its upmarket reputation, there is a wide range of reasonably-priced own-brand items as well as the exotic choices that you can’t easily find in other supermarkets.

Was denied at the selfcheckout to buy a bottle of wine for having a valid North American ID(despite using it for over 5 years in the UK with no issues.) Went to another till with no issues. What a joke!!

Good food, excellent veggie/vegan choices, great staff. Post-Covid free coffee is back on too.

Full of older people who feel entitled to the whole place. Staff are okay, most are barely friendly. I shop here often and can say its an uncomfortable feeling every time. I like the items though and wish the store was situated in a part of Brighton that wasn't so up itself.

The classification of goods is not clear.I can’t find the place to buy the bread easily.And the category of bread is really limited.There’s no Hovis/Warburton bread,even the Waitrose bread is also limited.

A nice compact branch of the Waitrose chain with fish, meat, cheese and charcuterie counters plus fresh sushi rolls.

Great shop. Usually quite busy and isles of a little but good stock. Free parking for 1-hour 30 minutes.

Decent to sometimes very good products, although the layout is disheveled compared to other Waitroses and Waitrose as a company is, on the whole, grossly overrated. Some of the older staff could do with a refresher on customer service. On a couple of occasions I was quite rudely asked for ID as if I were a teenager again, but those days are long gone. They also spot check the bags of random customers as a security measure, which, though understandable given their handheld systems, is nevertheless a hassle and could be done far more nicely.

Great store, lovely and very helpful staff

I arrived to collect quite a heavy package of John Lewis crockery. The staff were so helpful. To get my huge parcel up to the car park meant I would take the lift. I'm a bit claustrophobic, however the lovely assistant took all in the lift and met me at the top of the stairs. Thank you to all who helped.

Very clean shop and well spaced but poor selection of some items

Appalling service at this store this morning. Popped in on my way to work to grab a pastry and drink. I look decent, dressed in work attire but likely because I am black, security follows me over to the pastries and stands behind me until I pick one and go to the till. I mention this to the lady at the till and her response is " but he's black himself" Actually, no he is not, he appears to be Asian but I suppose we all look the same to you. This level of ignorance this early in the morning in 2023 is appalling!! You must do better.

I have been using this store for at least 10 years. I shan’t be using it much longer. I understand that there are access problems because of all the roadworks, but that does not explain the absence of things on the shelf, the inability to find things you want because they’ve moved them without so much as a notification or even any directions to the new location. All in all, despite the quality of their produce, I shall have to find an alternative outlet

Should be ashamed of these prices. I just had to abandon my cart and walk out because I couldn’t afford the total. 5 items came to nearly £30. Dire times we’re living in when eating remotely healthy becomes a wealthy privilege. Want to realise how poor you are? Come to Waitrose for the most depressing shopping experience since supermarkets opened.

It was quite when l went. With some of the lights off it was nice and relaxing. The staff r always helpful and polite. I go there on a regular basis as I'm disabled and the staff r always willing 2 help especially when l need something on the top shelf.

Went into the store on Saturday and and stood right in-front of a customer services staff member with headphones on and asked him where the sandwiches were.. He then walked away so I followed thinking that he was leading me to sandwich aisle, however he went to the milk section. At this point I was confused and asked him again.. He replied that he didn't see me the first time and wasn't aware that I was following him... Obviously the headphones were obstructing his direct contact with customers and he wasn't able to multi-task.

Wide variety, good quality, great costumer service.

On my last visit about 2 hours before closing, all ice was sold out. Your staff and manager is so kind to get more supply from the cold storage. Every time I visited, all taff are helpful and kindness to serve

One of my favourite shops. From the name to the way they do business. I like the calmness, the high quality and presentation. For me is all around "I'm feeling good"

This store has a really small and badly designed car-park. It was really busy today and they had staff out to direct traffic but they were actually just standing and chilling out in the sun while the car park came to a grid lock. The store is dated and very cramped and stocks are always low. Waitrose need to find a larger Brighton site

Still a top supermarket, but this one is a bit tight in places (makes people a bit grumpy). The quality of the food is consistently 'Waitrose', a label of quality in itself. Like most supermarkets in 2022/23 some shelves are getting a bit 'thin'.

This has been the best location as I shop locally for groceries. The store is very clean and well stocked. They have a wide selection of goods from food, to cleaning supplies, detergents, etc. I’ve also noticed the prices are very competitive here and beat many of the other locations in the area. Would recommend taking a look for your grocery needs.

Your security guard was very unfriendly and was harassing my sister and brother in law. This is very disturbing and disappointing.

Saturday night is the best time to go to wait rose. You some quality food at great prices. As always the staff are very friendly and helpful.
