SIX - Brighton & Hove in Brighton and Hove

We came for brunch for my sisters birthday, we ordered coffee and food together. Food came in a normal time and was okay however, one member of the group got towards the end of their meal to find a hair under the pancake on the plate. In addition to this our coffee order came roughly 10mins after we had already finished our meals.

It's a nice place. Food and coffee was not bad. Staff seemed ok.

Came here with my girlfriend on our holiday in Brighton for a lovely brunch meal we got the farmers breakfast and the berry pancakes which were both superb the farmers breakfast was delicious and boy them beans 😮‍💨 the Barry pancakes were lovely and sweet for anyone with a sweet tooth you’ll definitely enjoy them our servers were Jim and Kat who were both very attentive and lovely to talk to and were great when it came to attention to detail on the menu the coffee and the hot chocolate are must as they are the best I’ve ever had definitely returning if we come back :D

Brunch was fantastic here. Food was great as well as drinks. We opted for the bottomless drinks, but as the restaurant was extremely busy was a little slow with topping us up but understandable. Friend’s steak wasn’t great but was replaced immediately. Other than that, food was so good we returned the next day before heading back home.

One of the best breakfast I have ever had.

Food was nice but the floors were dirty, could see things on the floor when sitting at the table which put us off. Service was great, cleanliness just needs working on!

Such a friendly and inviting team, quick service and absolutely delicious food. Don’t be put off coming here by the old reviews as it’s completely new staff and management since last month, and it has made the biggest difference. Will definitely be coming back as often as we can!!

Style over substance. Came for breakfast after the Brighton half marathon and thought the food was quite nice but small portions and overpriced for what you got. I had the açai bowl which still had frozen lumps in and my partner had the vegetarian breakfast which he said was alright but not worth £15. Not bad but not worth the price

Took my kids and parents here for some lunch - lovely staff, very welcoming and attentive. It's well decorated and the food is fine, but it was an uncomfortable meal. There was a really loud hen party screaming and and being inappropriate, making people feel really uncomfortable. A couple of tables had dogs which barked - I'm all for well behaved dogs in cafes, but these weren't well behaved and were being fed off serving plates - it was a bit weird. Won't rush back!

Excellent spot amongst the sea of choice in Brighton for food and drink. I had croque monsieur with a turmeric latte and my husband had a veggie breakfast which the owner kindly adapted to suit his requirements. Both food and drink were really tasty and beautifully presented. This place has a lovely vibe and is certainly worth a visit. You won't be disappointed (some of the previous poor reviews seem to have stemmed from issues outside the control of the new proprietors). Give it a go, it'll be well worth your time.

A great valentines eve. Food was amazing and affordable! Yes there were some issues with double bookings and being understaffed, leaving us waiting quite a while for our table. But that aside, once seated, we loved it and will definitely be back. 10/10

My partner selected this restaurent for our Valentines Dinner. I am sorry to share but this was a very bad experience for us. We were waiting for over 30 minutes to get seated even after prior reservation and upon getting our table, there was not a single person to take our order. We waited for another 20 mins and finally decided to leave as my partner couldn’t handle it any longer. I saw the frustration among other guests. Kindly get your act together before anything else. You destroyed our Valentines Dinner. 👎

Abysmal service. Booked a table for 8 and didn’t get seated until 9.10 and waited until almost 10 for our orders to be taken which didn’t even come. We had to chase our orders up several times and when the food finally arrived it wasn’t even hot and the portions were tiny.

A restaurant has to be really good to get more than three stars from me. The menu was unremarkable. Nothing stood out as a must have. The Black Bean Stew was OK, but nothing to write home about. The wine was good, if a little cold for my liking. As with most restaurants, the dessert was an afterthought. Would I go back? Possibly. Service was prompt and polite.

The booking and ordering systems were so bad, leading to panic manager and staff, and then, terrible services. I was here for the Valentine’s day with my husband, had a booking at 7.30, got a table at 8.30, no one came to serve anything or take order until 9pm, and starter came at 10pm. So 3 hours in total to have food. Also, the order was taken but system was broken (?) so they asked us several times, and staff brought wrong food. We never had our drinks. The worst part is the ‘new’ cutleries on the table were dirty with food stain, not washed properly.. I asked for new ones but was quite shy to use them tbh. Also, I saw 2 couples arrived after us but got a table before us, for some reasons. I asked the staff but she just said ‘I had your table’. Manager should have predicted how long the customers needed to wait. I should have left after waiting for 30-45 min, but being told “we had your table” x3, or “you’re next”. okay I got our table after 1 hour, but not the service. We were also chill tbf, that’s why we waited and didn't fight for table or food or drinks. Don’t think we supposed to do that. Other customers were frustrated too. Anyway, the exceeded customers are queueing - not being served, so the served ones should get proper services. If not, discount or sth should be offered, but nothing to us. Food was okay.

I had a table booked there tonight on Valentine’s Day, we arrived and could see there were a lot of people waiting at the door. We joined the queue which was full of other people who also had reservations who had been waiting over 30 minutes for their table. We ended up waiting for almost 45 minutes to see if we would be seated.. eventually customers who were sat down started to stand up and leave and say “don’t bother waiting” “that was the worst experience ever” everyone was advising us not to even bother waiting as some people had been sat for 1.5 hours and still had not even ordered. We ended up leaving and speaking to a couple outside who said they ended up leaving without paying as the experience was so terrible, I don’t understand what went wrong and not a single staff member acknowledged us in the entire time we were stood waiting for our table. We left so disappointed and starving with nowhere else to go as it was valentines. I am really upset as I had high expectations for it to be great. I understand they may have been short staffed but we didn’t even get an apology.

Great place to have brunch! Cozy environment and the food is good at a reasonable price!

Waste of time. Rubbish food for the price, egg was severely undercooked. Got replaced but they cut corners and didn't give as much avocado on toast, just a lump on side. Annoying

Tim was our waiter, we were a bigger group and he was excellent. Will definitely be going back. Really welcoming environment can’t recommend enough!

Food looks nice in pictures however it doesn’t taste the same. I had the vegetarian breakfast. The poached egg was pretty much raw and slimy inside. The mushrooms and halloumi were cold. And the portions was smaller than expected. The food took really long to arrive despite the place being pretty much empty. They did re make mine however it was any better. This time the egg had a rock hard yolk, and the mushrooms were still cold. They serve the breakfast pilled on toast and the second time the components were just slapped on the plate which revealed the toast was not buttered. My partner had the pancakes with bacon which she said was okay nothing special.

A very underwhelming dish. A single egg yet described on the menu as 'eggs'. Had to ask for salt and pepper. Very boring.

This place was flawless. 6 of us visited for a Christmas set menu, and it was amazing. We ordered ahead of time, and it was a seamless service. We were a mix of dietary requirements, and everyone was catered for well, from vegans and vegetarian to meat eaters. The cocktails and mocktails were delicious, I personally recommend the virgin spicy margarita. The atmosphere was inviting and warming, and the staff were very attentive. Something not everyone will appreciate as much as myself but the plates, bowls, and cutlery had a great feel and extremely premium. To me this really elevates my dining experience. I am looking forward to returning again.

We went last Sunday for Sunday vegetarian roast. My friend was very disappointed with the portions and they had forgotten to give us the red cabbage so we got a generous helping of that. The carrots were overcooked and we only got one wilted overcooked stemmed broccoli. I did ask not for it to be overcooked so the nutrients weren’t lost in the water. The berry crumble was more apple than the tastier berries and the apple wasn’t advertised in the description. I used to enjoy the food here but things were overcooked. The manager was very kind and didn’t tell us that we had overstayed the closing time of five. I wish he had so that he wasn’t staying back for just the two of us and I forgot to ask my friend if he had given him a tip. The staff were very polite and because the cauliflower cheese was very bland with no flavour of cheese. We didn’t have to pay for it. I love the fresh peppermint tea and the fresh leaves were organic as they didn’t taste of chemicals. This is the second only restaurant that they have filtered water with no fluoride. I go regularly for my peppermint tea for the filtered water.

Very disappointed with the breakfast brunch and coffee.

The meat was magical. Bravo to the cook 👌

Food was very nice although needs to be hotter next time, still worthy if 5 stars. Certainly as place to go. Good value, good atmosphere. Toilets do need a clean and tidy up though. Xx

A very slow service for breakfast and when food arrived, we were missing tomatoes and beans. Sausages and bacon was cold. Would not recommend or visit again.

Friendly staff and nice vibe, just incredibly slow service, and I mean glacial speed. After 15mins Ended up with a luke warm flat white and 25mims later a tepid brekkie. Could have been good but wasn’t. Apparently a large table had arrived and that was the reason? Hmmmm

Waited 25 minutes to be served before we got bored and left for somewhere much better. I'd heard good things but after being there the place looks tired, staff are somewhere between rude and stressed (can't work out which). Enjoy your place as a tourist trap but know that people won't tolerate it much longer. Avoid unless you like bad service.

Popped in on Saturday 2nd Nov because I needed to kill an hour, ended up having bacon pancakes. Incredible! Unhealthy AF and I will need a nap in a little while but as a Saturday morning treat? Absolutely astonishing!

One of my favourite places in hove and I would love actually to work it it one day, very fresh food and well made and delicious When we order food came hot and tasty look makes you eat before you move your hand on Service is great and with smile I love the experience and as a chef I’m telling you it’s not frozen shit and well made and cooked Enjoy it with the ppl you love safe and clean

Disorganised, management seemed to watch the waitress run around without helping her, food was not what I ordered. We gave feedback before leaving and only good thing was the meal I ordered being removed from the bill as I couldn’t eat it!

We visited Six for a late brunch, and we were incredibly disappointed. The coffee was good, however the orange juice was clearly out of a very cheap carton (we could see it being poured). Our food took 40 mins to come, and when it did it was cold. We asked for it to be reheated and it was brought back out exactly the same. In the farmers breakfast, it was advertised as having ‘confit garlic beans’ - they were just plain beans. The fried egg yolk was solid. The mushrooms were clearly cooked in the microwave a number of hours ago. Conversely, the staff were incredibly kind and apologetic which was very much appreciated, we knew it wasn’t their fault for the poor quality food. Overall, the place should focus more on food quality rather than ‘aesthetic’, as the food clearly didn’t match up to what was advertised or expected for the high price. I would not recommend this place to anymore, which is a huge shame as the interior and staff was lovely but massively let down by the awful food.

OK food, very dark and cold when eating

Great place to sit outside and enjoy the street life, but I find the food mostly underwhelming and overpriced. Service also can be slow and a bit abrupt.

If you intend to go as a group, avoid this place. They’ll likely starve you or mess up your order. My partner and I waited for one hour, only to be told that the waitress forgot to place our order. They are terribly inefficient and I do not recommend that anyone goes there. Go somewhere else.

Nothing special. I only go because it’s in the sun. Slow service like everywhere in this town

There was small hiccup with our order which delayed my wife’s food but the lady serving our food ( I think her name was Ashley?) she was very kind and made sure my wife got her order exactly as she asked second time around. Sometimes good management and service comes down to how a potential problem is dealt with and I could not fault it. My wife is a very nervous eater and this gave us reassurance to return. Thank you 🙏

We had to wait 30 min for our coffee. The food was weak quality.

I've visited Six on a number of occasions, usually for Breakfast or Brunch. The menu for Brunch consists of good high quality Breakfast and Brunch choices as you'd expect though I usually go for Scrambled Eggs on Toast and Add Beans, Salmon or Sausages. They're open from 9am and it's usually quiet until about 10:30/11 so if you want a quiet place to make some calls or do some emails whilst eating good food then this is ideal (It is not a Cafe so food is expected to be ordered, you can't just sit there and have a coffee, there is a sister cafe next door called Brod and Wolf which is great for that). They have great outdoor seating for warmer days. The Atmosphere picks up and this place is busy from 10:30/11 onwards especially at weekends as it's great for Brunch and they do a Bottomless Prosecco option so you often see Large Bridal parties and Hen Do's enjoying this! Overall a great place to visit and I'd say one of the top Brunch spots in Brighton good for Families, Individuals, Couples and Larger groups.

Shockingly awful experience, if I could leave zero stars I unfortunately would. This was my first time visiting this branch and normally the Wolfox Cafe within the Brighton laines is my go to which is fantastic. Today was the most disappointing experience I have had visiting a cafe in Brighton. We waited over 40 minutes for staff to take our order, and was ignored by staff. I can absolutely sympathise that it is busy but please ensure you set the expectation of wait times at the get go. We watched as the bar tender/barista made the coffees and ring the bell multiple times to have them taken over to the table. Clearly it was understaffed and our coffees arrived cold The food was also cold when it did eventually arrive. Overall we waited approximately 2 hours in total for service. This cafe requires massive improvement in their management of staffing capacity and ensuring quality of standards do not drop.

Delicious food and attentive service.

Food was nice, but the place was so understaffed— the poor waitress explained it was just her serving at the moment and was very apologetic. It took 30 minutes for her to be able to get to us to put in a food order, and 6 or 7 items on the menu weren’t available. Our food arrived 20 minutes later, with us having arrived and been seated for almost an hour at this point 🫠 The waitress was doing her absolute best, but there desperately needed to be another person there to balance out the workload between. Also not impressed at all the missing menu items. This was my first visit here and I’m not sure I’d come back given how long everything took 😕 [visited 27/08]

Absolutely lovely. Food is totally fresh. Bottomless option generous and choice of prosecco good. Loved every moment. Am totally pleased.

We had a bottomless brunch here yesterday for my sisters hen party and I cannot fault this place at all. Delicious food, beautiful setting and the service was amazing. I wish I could remember the waitress’s name she was absolutely lovely, accommodating, professional and friendly. Just wanted to say a big thanks to you all there and especially her. Would definitely recommend and be back!

Well that was a fantastic experience! The service could not have been better - I was so impressed! Manager Cat was an incredible host and made our group feel so welcome and checked in on us throughout our time there. Our waitress Angelina was so helpful, courteous and friendly too! The food was delicious, the only thing I would say is it could be slightly bigger portion for £15 but having said that, I still felt satisfied and would definitely go again and recommend to others. Well done Six for making customer service a priority - it's very rare these days to get that level of service!

The food is lovely and really fresh but portions are on the smaller side for some of the dishes such as the avocado on toast. The bottomless brunch is fabulous and service is great and they will keep glasses topped up. Great spot for brunch

We went to SIX for a work outing, the food was delicious! Shannon kept the bottles of Prosecco flowing 🍾 and the rest of the staff serving our meal were very attentive. Will definitely be revisiting. 😃

Beautiful interior! We got eggs Benedict’s and it was so good! Perfect amount and flavourful! Cat and the manager((?) brown overalls) where welcoming friendly and good vibes! We’ve had a lot of breakfasts around Brighton/hove and this one is our new fav by far 5⭐️

We had the most wonderful brunch at Six! Every time we have been it has been amazing but this time they went above and beyond. My shoe broke mid way through and the manager Kat very kindly provided superglue to repair it, can’t wait until we go back!

I booked a bottomless brunch at SIX for my friend’s hen do, it was for 13 people and everything was fantastic. Shannon our waitress was so attentive and friendly, our drinks were constantly topped up and the food was really tasty too. I would definitely recommend this.

Six used to be the go to for brunch but now it’s a must avoid unless you want to be hungry, frustrated and dumbfounded. Not only were the pancakes terrible after waiting for 45mins for the food to arrive but the server didn’t apologise and said food was in the way. We had to wait another 15mins before I spoke w the manager. They offered drinks for free and 25% off. How ever, having to chase staff for service and the bill, and find that the hit chocolate was still on the bill left me unimpressed. Every table around us had an issue- waiting too long, wrong order. Etc. Wait a couple of months for them to improve or avoid!

Came here for brunch with my family for the first time in a while. Menu has slightly changed but the food and service has definitely improved, my nan was super happy about her birthday meal and we will 100% be coming back. The staff was absolutely incredible throughout the busy saturday and the drinks were lovely. Will be coming back soon!!!

Lovely little spot in a lovely little place in Hove. I stop for a bit of breakfast and coffee on my daily dog walk. The staff are super friendly and always really accommodating especially on busy weekend peak times. They’re working on a new evening menu which I’m very excited to try when they launch! But for now the brunch is perfect. Thankyou for my new little haven by the sea!

My fave cafe in Brighton always come here for brunch. I had the salmon sandwich which was fresh however took some time to come out.

Really nice place, the food took a while to come out but was delicious. The cranberry juice was also the best I’ve ever had really good and came with a slice of lime and a raspberry would defiantly recommend that! 🍋‍🟩😁

We were here on the 25/05/24 for my daughters Hen Do. The previous party had overrun their time but Cat, who was looking after us, pulled out all the stops to get all of us 18 people in quickly with some complimentary treats. Food was lovely, service was very good and atmosphere great! We had a great time, would recommend this place. Thanks to Cat and her team.

I could not be more disappointed with this restaurant. I booked my hen do lunch here - my guests arrived to be told they were only serving brunch at 2pm on a Sunday. This was never communicated to me via email or phone despite SIX having those details. It's quite possibly the worst experience and my hen do was completely ruined! I'll be emailing in to make a formal complaint as I think the way it was handled was awful.

WOW! What a beautiful place this is. I stopped here for lunch on my visit down to see my daughter and I must say i'm very impressed. We were welcomed by the manager who gave us recommendations on the new menu. I tried the Bao Buns with Pork from the Brunch Menu and my god were they good! We were never without anything as the staff are very attentive but not too much that they're annoying you! Drinks topped up within good time and food arrived quickly. From service to food quality i give this a 10/10 and I will be back (for more Bao buns) YUM!

The employees in this place need to be trained on how to treat their customers, not once but multiple times they had disgusting and rude attitude towards customers, it take ages for someone to take your oder and always their services are extremely poor. I hope the owner would take action against their behaviour because people come here to relax and enjoy their time, not to put up with their nasty attitude. new stuff is much needed

We did not have a good experience at SIX. Made a reservation for a celebration weeks ago for 3pm. Was told on arrival that they were not doing roasts and we had to have brunch. Firstly who wants brunch at 4pm. Some of the food came and it was shocking. All cold, so many items were unavailable and not everyone even ended up getting there food. Meat was warm on the outside and cold inside - terrible. Pancakes were hard. This was a really special occasion and the food was not good and ruined the lunch. The only positive was the manager who was so apologetic and did everything they could to try and resolve the ruined meal. The manager made a difference to a really bad experience and we were thankful for the response.

Had dinner at Six this evening and very disappointed I couldn't use my gift voucher. I had the purchase order but not the physical voucher and can't understand why it wasn't possible to track down the voucher. Manager wasn't particularly helpful or friendly and appeared to just want us out so she could close the restaurant at 10pm on a Friday night. Not surprised they have so few diners on what should be one of their busiest nights. Unhelpful, unfriendly, and won't be going back.

Brunch is such a delightful experience. Sharing your time with folk who are passionate about what they do. If you want mediocrity this is NOT the place for you. A lovely venue. With equally lovely food and service.

What a disappointing & terrible experience this evening ! Arriving for our daughter’s 18th birthday, balloons & cake in hand only to find the restaurant was closed ! Reservation made 6 weeks ago, with confirmation received by email . No phone call or contact made to say reservation was cancelled. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!! And a hugely upset 18 year old on her birthday. Thanks for ruining what should have been a special family occasion .

If you try to be a 'place to go' you have to back it up; cold food served too quickly for it to be freshly cooked, a forgotten item, and a server who cares little, just doesn't get you there. £14 for a veggie breakfast with cold tomatoes, rock hard cold toast, cold halloumi, and an undercooked egg. Rubbish. My advice? Be better at actually cooking food.

Went for brunch on Saturday and although we waited a little while due to many of big bookings, we were served by the loveliest people (not sure on names) and constantly checked on to make sure we was okay with the food, drinks and the wait. The food was unreal and banana bread was 10/10. Whole experience was top notch and I will defiantly be returning when I’m back in Brighton. Thankyou to the team at Six, worked super hard and great service all round :)

The roast was really good but it was difficult to enjoy it since the service was really unwelcoming. The restaurant rescheduled our booking to be 30mins early, closed an hour before the actual closing time, didn’t have vegan roast and were asking about the service so often it interrupted our conversations abrubtly and way too many times in addition to bringing the bill without us asking. The staff was condescending…

I know it was Mother’s Day and busy BUT ordere food that came out wrong only then to be told no beef only chicken or pork so basically no choice and no communication. No roast potatoes on plate either and average food . Did complain and gave us food off of bill . Had to ask for pudding menu finally took our order to be told 10 mins later no pudding’s available. Given cocktails instead . Poor experience would not go back - staff need to communicate with customers if we had known issues may h@ve chosen to go elsewhere and have @ better meal 😡another Mother’s Day ruined by a restaurant
