Food was amazing but unfortunately can't say the same for the staff. Felt like we were being rushed the whole time and packed the customers all in next to each other with no room to move even though most of the restaurant was empty

We were really disappointed with our first visit to Ivy Asia. My husband and I went to celebrate his 40th birthday, but the experience fell short from the start. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an unfriendly staff member at the desk. As we were led to our table, we were amazed by the restaurant’s stunning design. However, the excitement quickly faded when we ordered the Samurai set menu. The food was underwhelming—served lukewarm and lacking in flavor. Every dish was either dry or soggy, and at no point did anyone check in to ask how our meal was. To make matters worse, a staff member accidentally broke a glass and seemed completely indifferent about cleaning it up properly. Throughout the night, we watched as multiple staff members noticed the large shards of glass on the floor but chose to ignore them, seemingly too tired or unbothered to deal with it—it was almost comical. When it was time to leave, we weren’t acknowledged at all. We even had to retrieve our own coats from the cloakroom. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. There are far better places in Brighton serving quality Asian food at reasonable prices, with much better service.

We visited the Ivy Asia to catch up with a group of friends. The reception welcoming staff was very friendly and showed me the table very quickly. We chose the menu for the night, which is a good value for money. Starters were spot on, however a couple of things with the main. First, one of the dishes did not arrive at the same time as the other, although the staff was very apologetic and gave a dessert for free this is something not expected in a restaurant like this. The second thing is the rice provided with the meal can be more sticky Asian style. The last thing to coment on is the water service. We ordered some sparking water but they keep opening bottles without asking. This might catch u if distracted. The place offers a great atmosphere and we'll decorated according to the theme. Overall, we had a good experience at the Ivy.

Left standing in the door for 15 minutes on arrival on a Saturday night, having booked weeks in advance. No apology or acknowledgement that perhaps it wasn’t the best way to start the evening. Ivy Asia is basically a Wagamama with average, overpriced food. Never going back.

Group of 17, if you cannot accommodate a party of this size do not accept the booking. 6 of us were on another table that was not close to the rest of the party. There was plenty of notice as we booked and paid a sizeable deposit in December. Service was awful. The first course they were trying to serve us was someone else’s desert. Drinks orders were forgotten and had to be chased several times, the food was inconsistently portioned out and there was no communication from staff about what they were serving, parts of the course took so long that the accompaniments had gone cold. Staff either did not know what they were doing or did not care. Awful would not recommend. And even though they ‘reach out’ to email customer relations they don’t respond when you email. They are doing it to seem like they responding to feedback!

I’ll be honest it’s nothing special. You can find something somewhere for better value. The food was decent at best. It might not seem intentional but as a guest I felt profiled, as if the host determines your value as a customer. I would also advise guests to not be afraid to ask for the lunch menu for more variety. The server for my section was great but overwhelmed with his responsibilities, they seemed understaffed as he seemed to have many tables to look after, so his attention was very divided but that’s not his fault. We also had to wait a considerable amount of time to retrieve our coats from the cloak room as their host was busy elsewhere in the restaurant.

I had booked this restaurant in advance for my husbands birthday but on arrival we were told our table wasn't ready even though we had a text before hand to say we will see you at 8pm.we arrived at 8pm and were treated as though we had just walked in by chance. We ordered a drink each and at the bar was a child of about 6 swinging his legs about which kicked my husband several times.no adult was with this child. We saw many people walking in and being seated so after waiting nearly 20 mins my husband said let's pay for the drinks and go elsewhere.the lady serving at the bar apologised and immediately a manager came over to say our table was now ready.what a suprise!! All this had spoiled our night and considering we would've spent a fair amount of money on our meal we took ourselves to another restaurant who greeted us and made us feel valued.we won't be dining at the ivy ever agsin as its not a nice experience and to have young children at the bar gone 8pm is not what we would hsve wanted.such a shame as it spoilt my husbands birthday.the ivy Asia uve asked me to email you and I have not had a reply . After taking a trip to the Ivy Asia in Brighton for a friends birthday, I was pretty disappointed with the service we received. With a cold meal and wine poured over my friend, it didn’t live up to the expectations and standards I’ve learnt to expect from an Ivy. Unfortunately, due to this I’m very hesitant to want to go back to any of these restaurants. Maybe the Ivy has lost its charm comparing it to what was one hell of a place in Covent Garden. What a shame.

We visited Brighton and decided to try the local Ivy. I called ahead to check if they accepted walk-ins, but no one answered the phone. When we arrived at the reception at 18:45, we asked for a table, and Isabella told us they were fully booked. I asked if there was any availability later, and at first, she offered us a table at 8 PM, but David immediately told her not to book us in. We left, walked for two minutes, and managed to book a table online for 7 PM—plenty of availability. When we returned they made us wait outside until 7PM, claiming the table wasn’t ready, even though we could clearly see multiple empty tables inside. In the end, they gave us one of those empty tables, which was actually set for six people, even though we were only three. They apologized, but David was condesending and arrogant and the overall experience was still awful. Terrible customer service—such a shame for such a beautiful Ivy location. I hope someone addresses this issue. I emailed them as they ask on their reply 4 days ago, they never reply.

Third time we’ve been and one thing that stands out every time is the quality of the food. The decor is also fantastic. However the service can be hit and miss. One time they totally forgot 2 of our dishes and then left us to wait 35 minutes to receive the bill after asking. The latest time we asked for king oyster and shiitake gyoza, we ate our meal and my partner mentioned how it was different to last time and didn’t seem like mushroom - when we got the bill we had been given the pork and kimchi gyoza; fortunately it wasn’t a massive issue for us as we enjoyed it regardless, however for others this could’ve been a huge mistake. The mocktails and cocktails are great! It’s not cheap but worth it in my opinion.

Very disappointing evening. This place was recommended to us by several people who said how wonderful it was, so we went with four friends. The food was rushed and cold. We were still eating our starters when the duck arrived and with no space on the table it was taken away. When it came back it was cold and had obviously been left sitting on the side. The way it was served was pretentious and meant you couldn’t talk to the person on the other side of the table. We felt that the restaurant couldn’t quite decide what it was trying to be; sharing starters across the board, but the mains were definitely only a one person portion, meant we ended up under ordering. Slow inattentive staff, who didn’t understand the difference between gyoza and dim sum, we definitely won’t be rushing back. I will also say that since the Ivy shares toilets with Ivy Asia, the standard of cleanliness and overall availability of cubicles is poor. There are not enough toilets for both restaurants and they are filthy and smelly. It’s put me off going to either restaurant.

Service wasn't the best. Had to ask for cutlery, asked several times for water, wine not topped up, part of meal missing and had to ask twice, and when it finally came it was handed to me instead of being put on the table. The Ivy Asia, Brighton: A Gilded Feast with a Few Stumbles Ah, Valentine’s Day—an occasion that demands just the right level of indulgence, lest you find yourself accused of phoning it in with a limp bunch of garage-forecourt roses. So, to The Ivy Asia in Brighton we went, my wife and I, seeking a little romance with a side of culinary spectacle. And spectacle is exactly what we got. Step inside and you are immediately transported into a shimmering fever dream of pan-Asian opulence. Think jade-green floors, golden embellishments, and enough decorative excess to make a Tsar blush. It’s the kind of place where you half expect a theatrical gong to sound every time a dish arrives. Service began on a high note: warm smiles at the door, quick seating, menus presented with efficiency. No dithering here—we had limited time and opted for the premium tasting menu, a decision that, for the most part, was wise. Drinks arrived swiftly, though this was where the first crack appeared. More on that later. The food, however, was well-paced and beautifully presented. The opening act—pink slices of beef, delicate sushi—was elegant and precise. But the star performer was undoubtedly the miso black cod, a dish so silky and rich it felt like a decadent whisper against the palate. A triumph. Then, a slight misstep. The vegetables that came with the mains had, inexplicably, been introduced to wasabi with a heavy hand, an unwelcome fiery interloper that rather stomped on the balance of the dish. The rice, meanwhile, was… just rice. Boiled. Unremarkable. Functional, like a scenic backdrop in a West End show—there, but entirely unmemorable. Throughout, the sheer number of staff was a sight to behold. A synchronised ballet of waiters whirling between tables with practised efficiency, an army of busy bees tending to the hive. Yet as the restaurant filled up, the rhythm faltered. Our dessert required a gentle prod to make its way to us, a small stumble in an otherwise well-paced meal. And then, back to those drinks. Orders were taken efficiently, and the bartenders worked at speed, yet for reasons unknown, the finished cocktails stacked up at the bar like a queue at passport control, waiting for someone—anyone—to ferry them to thirsty diners. A small service kink that, with some attention, could be smoothed out. Despite these minor hitches, The Ivy Asia in Brighton delivers a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It is unabashedly extravagant, occasionally flawed, but entirely recommendable. Would I return? Absolutely. Would I advise you to go? Without hesitation. Just be prepared to wave down a waiter when you fancy a second drink

Such a beautiful restaurant let down by an extremely underwhelming experience! We arrived and was seated by a very polite lady who ran through the menu with us (as your given around 4/5) and asked our dietary requirements/allergens etc, a young lad a few minutes later came and did exactly the same. Another employee a few moments later came to take a drinks order and they was brought to us by yet another employee. Our food order was taken a while later and once the food started to come it can be described at best as pleasant. My main was served with a fork but my partners was not, this wouldn’t be an issue if the chicken wasn’t dry and tough making the chopsticks inadequate. Different waiting staff come at random times removing plates from the table whilst you’re still eating which I just find bizarre and slightly rude. All in all not great for the money you will spend here. I think having multiple people waiting on you loses the intimate touch of getting to know your server. As I mentioned at the start of the review the perfect word for Ivy Asia is underwhelming.

Very atmospheric restaurant as an Oriental spin off of the Ivy restaurant brand. Set in the heart of Brighton within easy access of the rail station would recommend this for either lunch, dinner or their special afternoon teas. With a range of Maki Rolls, Sushi and other oriental dishes we opted for the Asia Experience menu, this has a cross section of the menu and just takes the effort out of choosing, yes I know lazy. Can definitely recommend the mini doughnuts and ice cream !! Menus can be obtained from the Ivy Asia website.

We had an exceptional dining experience at The Ivy Asia this weekend. The cuisine was among the finest I have enjoyed in a restaurant for quite some time. The service was outstanding, particularly thanks to the delightful Jamie. It was both my sister's and my birthday, and she made us feel extra special. Jamie was exceedingly kind and thoroughly explained all the options on the menu. The ambiance within the restaurant was superb. The live DJ contributed to a vibrant atmosphere with an excellent playlist. The meticulous attention to detail, such as the aromatic duck served on a duck statue, further enhanced our experience. The restaurant was impeccably clean, and we encountered no issues whatsoever.

The Ivy Asia, looks stunning, probably the most beautiful restaurant I have been in, however the food leaves a lot to be desired. My wife had the Golden Marinated Half Duck which comes on a large metal duck, the duck was very dry, and while it was supposed to be crispy it was too dry. I had the pork belly which was ok, but I ordered the chilli noodles to go with it, but they were very dry. The staff were over attentive and removed the large silver duck half way through the meal. The duck is part of the show, so kind of killed the ambience for us a little bit. I don’t mind paying £120 for two mains and two drinks, but I want to be left alone to enjoy my meal and not be interrupted every five minutes. Overall quite underwhelming.

Restaurant looked incredible but the food was overpriced for portion size and was underwhelming. Tried the half duck with pancakes which was served on a silver duck stand, looked impressive and was one of the reasons for ordering but it was then removed from the table while still eating, at £38 it took away the fun of the meal and felt like we were interrupted too much during our meal. My wife and I came on Saturday night to celebrate her birthday. It was a very last minute booking as our plans had changed but we were glad to get a table. Things don’t always go smoothly when you go out for a meal and being a frequent visitor to the Ivy Asia’s in London especially, you begin to build a certain expectation. There was an issue with the timing of our food and the explanation behind the manner in which it was served. Although we were left disgruntled for the first half of our experience I must say that a knight in shining armour prevailed. Conflict resolution is key. Mistakes may always occur but the manner in which they are resolved can rebuild the trust in the brand with great immediacy. Sebastian was fantastic in not only listening to our complaint and understanding it but also resolving it and ultimately leaving us very happy customers. It was a rollercoaster ride of a meal but he helped us to end it feeling more than satisfied with the overall experience. He is a real credit to the industry and I am not surprised he is a manager, he totally gets it. He single-handedly turned a bad situation around and I cannot commend him any more. Exemplary service from a great guy.

I recently visited Ivy Asia in Brighton with two friends during a trip, and while the experience was largely enjoyable, there were some notable drawbacks. The restaurant itself is stunning—vibrant, modern, and energetic, with a lively atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a great evening. The décor was impressive, and the upbeat vibe made it a memorable spot to dine. The food was another highlight: beautifully presented, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried had bold, well-balanced flavors that left us satisfied. Unfortunately, our experience with the service fell short of expectations. Our waiter added two bottles of expensive water to our bill without asking or informing us, which we only realized when reviewing the receipt. This left us feeling misled. Additionally, the waiter came across as condescending, and we couldn’t shake the impression that he might have treated older diners with more respect. This aspect of the visit was disappointing and dampened what would have otherwise been a fantastic evening. In summary, Ivy Asia offers incredible food and a unique atmosphere, but the service we encountered detracted from the experience. It’s a shame because, with better staff training, this could easily be a top-tier dining spot.

Came to the Ivy Asia for my Girlfriend's 30th. Food was brilliant but sadly the service was not. The staff were very polite however, we did not feel equal to some other tables where it seemed the staff knew the customers. We waited 45 minutes from arriving to ordering our food. There were some large gaps between some dishes arriving and sadly as we have a 10 month at home, we had to leave without having had any dessert order. When booking the table, ot advises you only have the table for a certain amount of time which is a little at odds when you have to wait for so long. As I have said, the staff were very polite but sadly did not provide a good standard of service and it marred the evening slightly. We will definitely come back and hopefully I can be proven wrong next time.

Disappointing new years eve 'experience'- false advertisement The night was advertised as a new years eve experience, advertised with phrases like 'join us for the ultimate party' and 'expect high energy'. There was no party at all. It was just a normal evening with a set menu, a dj stuck in the corner and every so often two people in disco ball outfits came and did a bizarre dance at us. This was the 'immersive entertainment'. A very odd choice for an Asian themed restaurant. Everyone just stared awkwardly. It took us around 20 mins to get our prosecco on arrival and nearly 45 mins to get a jug of water and a bottle of wine. We were tempted to buy more bottles but figured it would take too long to arrive and we were sternly warned we only had the table for a few hours. We did read this in the terms and conditions but figured we would at least be allowed to stay at the bar to see in the New year at this 'new years eve experience'. Food came out at different times, we had about 4 different waiters which got confusing. The best thing was the food though, it was delicious and I was grateful to have adjustments made for my gluten allergy. I was just shocked this was advertised as a 'new years eve experience' and the 'ultimate party' on the website. We asked if we could have a drink and a dance (again, advertised as a new years eve party) after we finished our food and we were told 'I don't know' by staff. We were expecting a party; disco balls on the advert, girls sitting on the bar raising a glass etc. But it was just an ordinary night at the restaurant. I never write bad reviews but this was really disappointing and complete false advertisement.

1 star only for the place. It’s beautiful. The service was awful , the waitress looked like she was mad at us they wanted to close before 23:30 and they close at 01:00. They didn’t accept our digital id, so if you’re not from uk maybe you have a problem. The food was okay but expensive for the small plates.

Gone downhill, we came for our 1st wedding anniversary. The woman who served us initially was lovely, we ordered 3 small plates and 2 large plates with 2 sides. We asked if we could please have the 3 small plates to start and then the large plates and 2 sides to follow so we didn’t have it all on he table at the same time. We was told this was fine and they would happily oblige. The first 3 dishes came and whilst we had just started them the other 4 turned up and the woman just stood there looking at us as if to say - what do you want me to do with all this stuff? I told them that we asked for it to come separate and she just said “ok” and walked off. I had a feeling they were going to leave it on the side and bring it back out once we had finished the small plates - what a surprise it took us over 20 mins to finish the small plates then they cleared the table.. another 15 ish minutes it took them to bring it back out and what a surprise it was the freezing cold dishes they tried to serve us 35 minutes earlier. At £165 for the meal considering we had no alcohol just 2 diet cokes.. it’s disgusting service. £35 for a cold black cod? And £30 odd for a cold beef dish.. No thanks. Have been going for years - every time we went to get our wedding rings, when I was pregnant amongst many events… but after spoiling our wedding anniversary that we were bought for a gift we won’t be coming back.

Amazing cocktails and beautifully crafted ~ highly recommend. House white too ~ absolute kudos to whomever chooses the wine list. Staff run off their feet but to be expected as it’s Christmas and the atmosphere makes up for the slower service for things like plates eg. To be fair we ordered a desert platter and in the end everyone wanted plates so wait to be expected.

It was a beautiful setting but for £90 a head the service wasn’t great, the hostess scolded us for being 10 mins late (the reason being that we were waiting in the queue to get in) the waiter was different every serving and they didn’t clear the table away without being asked. They hadn’t put down Christmas crackers which every table had. The food was good but not perfect. Lots of amazing restaurants in Brighton for less where you get all this top notch. For that price I wouldn’t go again.

I think my taste buds had an orgasm! When you walk into this restaurant you'll receive a very warm welcome indeed, then you'll maybe notice that the entire floor is lit up and the decor is a little special. But, the food is amazing with so many flavours tantalising your tongue, we chose several different dishes from the set menu which was superb. I had a lovely duck salad and the sea bass to follow which was sublime. For an additional £5 a desert can be added, I had doughnuts which were yum. The wine list includes some, let's say quite enthusiastic prices but I'm no wine connoisseur so chose a reasonably priced white which was actually quite good. We noticed a little background music which we could talk over across the table and later noticed a DJ in the corner, but around 7.30PM the DJ pumped up the music a little so we left him to it. All I can say is try the food for yourself. We'll be back for sure.

Went for a company Christmas party this evening, when our table ordered drinks I was asked for ID (which was quite surprising as I am in my mid 20s) I didn’t have any so I couldn’t order a drink (completely fair enough). Our waitress then spent the rest of the evening “marking” me; watching me constantly, whispering to other wait staff and pointing at me (presumably making sure I didn’t take a sip of anyone else’s drink). All round very weird and uncomfortable experience.

Very good experience for this magnificent restaurant, so yes you pay for the atmosphere but the food is succulent, unexpected flavors, the best restaurant we have been to in Brighton.

Such a nice anniversary. We’ve been attended by Jamie who was very attentive and explained everything on the manu so carefully as came straight if we were in need of something else. The food was great and they gave us some mochis to celebrate our anniversary. I will definitely repeat the experience.

Brighton Ivy Asia is a fantastic spot to visit, with beautiful decor and a vibrant atmosphere. Today, we went for the 'Dragon Set Lunch Menu' at £19.95 per person. Unfortunately, no pictures of the food – it was devoured before we had a chance! 😅 That said, it was small but satisfying, and of course, absolutely delicious.

This is easily the nicest restaurant at the marina. The name is confusing as it sounds like a chain restaurant but in fact it's a proper traditional Italian restaurant with friendly Italian staff and all the classic Italian dishes you'd expect. Good pizzas and good service. It's definitely a cut above anywhere else at the marina and very reasonable prices too

So much sugar in the tarts and coffee, I hope I don’t get diabetes. Good to look at though
