Buon appetito in Brighton and Hove

Our first visit to B&A even though we live in Hove. I had a really lovely evening last night with my husband and daughter. Absolutely faultless! The staff were so attentive and happy which isn’t the case in some restaurants! I had the chefs special, salmon and zucchini, beautiful! We will definitely be going back more often. Highly recommended!

Absolutely brilliant! One of the best places to go for amazing food and atmosphere in the Brighton and Hove area. The staff were absolutely sensational. The were friendly, attentive and entertaining! With everyone, not just us. The food and drink is 10 out of 10 and you leave feeling full but not bloated. If you’re in the area, you have to try this place! Thanks so much!

We visited for lunch and were really impressed with the food and service. The main menu had lots to choose from but as we were having dinner out later, we opted for the lunch menu. Both the pizzas and pasta were delicious and we will definitely be back next time we’re in the area.

What a wonderful Italian restaurant. Great food and amazing service. I’ve been here several times and it’s become one of my favourites in the Hove area. They recently catered for a family lunch – for 13 of us - and it was perfect. Everyone in our group said how much they loved the food, attentive service and the warm ambiance. Highly recommended.

Great family run Italian. Service is excellent, very friendly and efficient. Food is excellent with interesting 'specials' and very good pizza and pasta. We recently held a birthday celebration for 14 people there - the food was delicious and they made us so welcome. Reasonable prices too.

This spot is such a great cosy find! The service was amazing, constantly checking on us, it was date night as well as our first time being there. Calamari was the best calamari I've ever had, service was speedy, and the pasta was scrumptious we had to take the rest away! We will be back, and will be sharing this with everyone.

Very long service , quite rude owner too. Waited and waited for a very small bowl of pasta. Got a free portion of bread when asked as quite hungry by then as you could imagine. Will never go back. Shame as we live round the corner.

The serviced by an old man was quite rude when we were ready to check. We were keen to pay separately but the waiter (or he might be a owner) rejected us. We didn’t understand why not, because last time we could in the same restaurant! He said “ now it is busy so you can’t” and looked very unfriendly. OMG this was the worst experience that we went out for lunch in Brighton. We realize sometimes the restaurant is too busy to help customers pay separately, but if he had been more polite we would feel better. It was really shame for the 10 % service charge. Except for the man, other waiters were really nice and friendly. But anyway, I think I won’t go there anymore. 2019.

Went here for a spontaneous dinner last night. All the staff were friendly and efficient. We had 3 courses each, a bottle of rosé plus coffees and it came to £100.00-ish, including tip. Everything was delicious and we really enjoyed it. The only downside - for us - was that a party with a dog came in, which I don’t think is appropriate in a restaurant the evening, but I expect most people wouldn’t mind it. Nice family atmosphere too.

We visited in a Friday night, for a family birthday celebration Immediately on arrival we were warmly greeted and given a prime seat in the window With school age children, we always want to make sure there is something which they will enjoy eating and we actually pleased to see there was no separate children’s menu. Our children really enjoyed the food and were keen to try other people’s dishes. The specials were a particular highlight, with the lamb shanks coming highly recommended The general atmosphere in the restaurant was friendly, warm and inviting We will definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend it for a visit

Had another great meal here this evening although the first time for valentines. The ambiance, decor, service and food was top notch. The surprise entertainment during the meal was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend and if you’ve not been you’re missing out on this hidden gem in Hove

Food and drinks are at the normal standard for a Costa outlet, nice outdoor seating and plenty of parking and access points. decent staff and good food selection, although a little small inside.

Very busy, noisy and dark. I thought Victoriana had been exhausted in the 1980s. The service was a little slow, but the galette starter was very tasty. The Caesar salad was mainly tasteless lettuce covered in mayonnaise dressing, could be improved with more different leaves.

Had a great meal with couple of friends. Pleasant music from a singer playing keyboard. Great service and good ambiance.

Went for the first time and such a lovely bunch of people. Asked our group who was the lead booker and thanked us for booking and coming which was a lovely touch. We started with drinks Inc cocktails and they were all delicious. The food was incredible, we tried the mussels , fried fish and for mains some gnocchi for mains and the special pork schnitzel and pizza and everything was fresh and flavoursome. We had a wonderful evening with a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend and will be back.

This is a friendly Italian with good service and nice food. The pizzas have a good base and tasty filling and there is a wide range of pasta and other main meals such as chicken, steak and fish. All the food is well cooked.

My favourite little independent Italian in Hove. The staff are always so warm, welcoming and charming and the quality of the food is superb. Anything from the chefs special board comes highly recommended. Pizzas are the best in Brighton and Hove.

After my first year in the area this is 100% my favourite local. lunch, dinner and even the occasional sundowners in their sunny alfresco tables. (I can’t actually see the sun go down from here but the bubbly staff more than make up!) The food is homely classic Italian, as is the warm welcome. Hove has some great food offerings and if you want a great classic and affordable neighbourhood haunt then this is a must visit and then must visit again!

Haven't been here for sometime and really used to loved going for dinner as the food was great and the place had a lovely atmosphere. Went back tonight for first time in a couple of years and was very disappointed with both the food and the fact that there is now a TV on the wall playing old music videos. Also service was slow when restaurant not full. Can't see us returning as lost it's appeal.

Excellent food and very prompt service

We booked a friends surprise 40th here and the staff were so accommodating, let us arrive early, decorate the tables and really spoilt the birthday girl. The service was very attentative, layout of restuarant very intimate and food was delicious, the prices where quite surprising, and much cheaper than I expected. I would definitely return here again.

Had the most romantic meal here during Christmas! The food is just superb and they cater for any requests. The staff here are one of a kind and the friendliest we’ve experienced in Brighton. Already looking forward to coming back. Thanks for everything!

Been here a couple of times now and it’s excellent. Pizza, pasta, steak and dessert all first rate. Great food and the staff are amazing.

We went here for lunch with the family. The restaurant is next to another Italian restaurant but this one just feels more friendly. I've only been here once before but both times the service was excellent and extremely friendly. They went out of their way to do more for us, for instance when I mistakenly thought a pizza was vegetarian because I misread it, they made me a fresh one, even though I said that it was fine! The pizza was much nicer than one I have had at a very popular Brighton pizzeria and the garlic bread was amazing and really tasty. I would definitely recommend this place, I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Nice position for a wine bar. My wife & I went in for a couple of cocktails. That was a problem. I had the worst margarita I have ever had. Big blocks of ice, no lime juice just 3 thin slices of lime, tequila & mint. MINT! in a margarita. Truly awful. I think they got mixed up between a margarita & a mint julep. My wife had an expresso martini, jeez, it was so sweet you could feel your teeth rotting. This wine bar may have good food, I wouldn't comment on that as we didn't eat there, but there cocktails at 5pm are atrocious.

I went to eat in this restaurant during the summer of 2019 about once a week every week for 2 months the boss is a very nice person. we were always served very quickly we had large tables. very attractive prices for students. the chef is great he made a special pineapple calzone. very very good memories, very good food.

Been here a few times in the past month and not once have I had anything less than a perfect experience! The food and wine is delicious and very reasonably priced, the decor is lovely and the staff are an absolute delight. Almost feels like I'm on holiday in Italy when sat out the front of the restaurant. Located 30 seconds from my front door so I will definitely be a regular customer here from now on. Thank you to the wonderful staff at B&A for being so pleasant and welcoming 😊

£4 weekday lunchtime deal is great value for an authentic pizza. Feels authentic, good staff To improve: Toilets are in need of renovation to keep them in line with the rest of the decor. Drinks are not kept in the fridge so rely on ice to get them cold

Owner scruffy, unprofessional and really mouthy in Hove Bon Apetito. Could take or leave the food and won’t be coming back with thier bad attitude and mediocre food.

Regularly lunch with friends in Hove. Our lunch at Buon Appetito came as a tasty surprise. Specifically, we had Antipasti for starters (delicious and beautifully presented - Almost a picture!). Main courses were Calzone, a pasta dish and a meat dish. Again, all delicious and beautifully presented. Drinks were a draft beer and two cans of coke (always prefer a can as we know whether it is diet or regular Coke!). Followed by some delicious cappucini and an espresso. Service was attentive, relaxed and friendly. Great not to have staff perched over us while we take a long time to decide what to eat! Buon Appetito is an Italian restaurant that does Italian food very well indeed. It’s not the cheapest Italian restaurant in the world, but does offer meal deals, call for more info on this I guess. Firm believer in “you pay for what you get” and we paid for good Italian food and what we got was outstandingly good! In a world where eating out becomes less frequent, it’s great to know the restaurants where money can buy an outstandingly good meal at a reasonable cost. Buon Appetito is one of those restaurants. Overall, we will eat again at Buon Appetito and will also try their delivery service too.

Incredible experience food is just amazing and the portions are huge ( we tried lasagne and calzone ). The atmosphere of the restaurant is so cozy and warm ,staff really helpful and friendly ! We will come back here definitely ! P.S. Tiramisu is mandatory (must) to try !

Few of us decided to give this ago on a Thursday night, first issue was the menu was more expensive then the website states. Two of us had pizzas which where the greasiest ever, you can get better from a a takeaway, the girls really struggled cutting these. We all had soft drinks which came in cans and where very flat and overpriced for a can. The lamb rack was okay but the side of potatoes and veg was horrible, potatoes undercooked and veg just had no taste not fresh just frozen veg. The last guest had lasagne which didn’t have much flavouring and not even a small side salad to compliment this dish. Real shame as we wanted to enjoy this nice traditional Italian but unfortunately we couldn’t. Maybe for the 50% off deals it wouldn’t have seemed so bad. Will not be visiting again but in the plus side the staff where lovely.

Disappointed with lack of social distancing. My friend and I were sat at a table right next to another table of four. It was so close that we felt uncomfortable. We asked if it would be possible to move to another table as we could see other tables for two that were not being used, but were told these were booked. So we left...very disappointed as we have had nice meals there in the past

In Brighton fancied Italian somewhere bit more peaceful, short walk from our hotel this lovely place with outside seating and great staff, the owner was very helpful and Couldn’t ask fir more, nice pizza and pasta. Deffo recommend

Like being on holiday but in Hove. Really friendly staff and amazing food. Prices and deals also really great. Bit of a gem tucked away on the square that very much holds its own against local competition.

Aggressive owner. Shame, as I had a nice meal there previously, but his attitude STANK. Only go if you don’t mind a crappy rude owner. Very irrational and argumentative. Sadly can’t give zero stars.

We have been looking forward to try this place for a long time, This place has a good atmosphere and it's a nice romantic place to come and have a meal, We had garlic mushrooms and avocado prawns for starters followed by spaghetti carbonara and lasagna for our main, The food was nice and the table service was good, The bill was £60 included 2 drinks which wasnt bad.

The waiter and waitress I have to say were great and the portion sizes of the meals are extensive . My only gripe would be the menu as for me there wasn’t a lot of choice for my taste and I’m not a fussy eater I ended up having a Pizza as that was the only thing that suited and even then I struggled to one something that wasn’t really boring . I don’t think I would return .

Brilliant! I've been to this restaurant three times and the food is always astounding! I'm a vegetarian and have no issues with menu or friendly meals, plus the staff are really kind and attentive. The drinks are quality and I just don't understand why this place isn't world famous! I often travel to Italy because I love the culture, but I have never (out of hundreds of Italians) had a meal and service so authentic and fresh. I highly recommend it as a night out and the only negative reviews I've seen have been drunk white women who didn't seem to understand that English isn't the staffs first language, so I'd say if you want something just ask! They are more than happy to accommodate any need. Please recommend this place to all your friends so we can give this brilliant little restaurant the attention it deserves!

We'd been here before and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere so when our friend said he'd like spaghetti bolognese to eat, we knew where to go. The welcome was again sincere and friendly and we were soon poring over the menu. We skipped starters and went for the main, mine washed down with a large glass of Moretti. A lasagne, a bolognese, a carbonara and a mushroom risotto were soon delivered to the table and consumed in no time at all. Delicious, and topped off with a lovely coffee. The whole evening at Buon Appetito was a very, very pleasant experience.

Came here Sat night before Xmas. Always wanted to come to this place & so pleased we did. Food was amazing, I had rack of lamb which was cooked perfectly, hubby had chicken dish with tomatoes etc & sister had chicken with mushrooms etc. All the food was excellent. Service amazing & staff lovely & friendly. It was our first visit to this place & will defo be returning. Thanks guys

We dined here for the first time yesterday and we both ordered a dish of salmon and langoustine @ £24 per person we were expecting something good for this price. The meal arrived with a slice of salmon and one solitary langoustine placed on top, of which there was possibly a teaspoon of meat to eat. The salad that accompanied it was the blandest salad I have ever seen consisting of cucumber and white onions nothing else not even a fresh herb to liven it up! We queried this and eventually were given an extra 2 langoustine with 2 slices of bread and a sliced tomato to put in the salad. On the plus side the staff were very nice.

Had dinner here with friend on a Friday, very much disappointed. I was the one who recommended the visit because I used to have nice experience there. Food was great, as usual. But the customer experience was terrible. I was so embarrassed! We arrived there about 7pm, had a main course and dessert each, shared 2 bottles of wine. It was not a busy evening, only about half of the tables were filled. Around 9:50pm, the staff started collecting our wine and water glasses without asking if we wanted anything else. At 10:05pm, right after one of my friends finished her last sip of wine, a staff member collected her glass at once and gave us the bill without us asking. Ridiculously rude and unacceptable! So I asked the staff ‘what time do you close?’ She said 11. (Yes I knew it as it was shown clearly on their door!!) I said ‘so it’s still early, it’s just 10!’ She just smiled and walked away. There was one table left when we were leaving. Guess they were being kicked out too since obviously the restaurant did not want anyone after 10! *** In answer to the reply from the restaurant below: Yes we may have appeared happy. I can assure you we were not! We were just being polite. I was so embarrassed that I did not want to say anything about it and there was no point staying in the restaurant when we were clearly not welcome anyway. I do not just leave a negative review for no reason. I have been here many times with my husband and we loved it! That was why I recommended it to my friends. To be fair, we were happy before being pressured to leave. I am confused as to why you’ve left this comment questioning my opinion. It really is incredibly rude and just makes matters even worse. Ultimately you have a closing time and therefore should not be pressurising customers to leave. I understand it was quiet and you may have wanted to close early but that’s business.

Great price for lunch £3.00 main course although drinks practically same price as the meal. Nice pizza/pasta and beer/house wine. Served by a charming, tall waiter with a lovely personality. The other man with glasses also polite. In fact all the men. Only negative the menus could do with a clean. Lots of solo diners.

Called in for lunch and had a very nice meal so decided to return for dinner with some friends. Starters were very good but the main course my wife ordered was too salty and she was unable to eat it and left about 90% of it the waiter came and offered to replace it with another dish which she declined. On finishing the meal they gave us a Lemoncillo drink and apologised about the meal. On paying the bill I couldn’t believe they charged us the full amount for the meal that was sent back to the kitchen virtually untouched.Going on this experience I don’t think I’ll be returning any time soon.

Best Italian restaurant by a mile! Always great food, service and great staff. Very reasonable price wise and a good selections of wine. Grappa on the owners recommendation was the best. Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed!

Ah no, this a place issa so bad, mia madre says the pasta remind her of my cat jessie's food. Dry chicken too, no season on this, my shop a lot better at crispy chicken!

Eating on my own I need a place where I feel comfortable. A lot of places are not suitable for the solo traveller. This is perfect for all. Beautiful food. Real Italian that has the old fashioned feel. I had both take way and eat in. Look forward to coming back.
