This is a joy to go to for a great meal and the staff are so welcome in.

Fantastic, great staff and great service and even better food, the choice portions and quality; these folks could train a few how to do it.

RACISM IS THRIVING IN BELLA NAPOLI. Sad experience I went to Bella Napoli with my girlfriend who is white and I’m a Black man (for context). The first day I went there I thought nothing was wrong but even my girlfriend could sense that there was a difference in the level of service that we was receiving. But we put it down to just being a bad experience. So a few days later we ate there again as this food spot was local to where we was staying. As soon as we entered the premises I could feel the atmosphere was off. As we entered the restaurant the waiter that approached us was very rude instead of him showing us where we was able to sit he just clicked his fingers and pointed to the direction of the table we can sit at. Whilst we sat and browsed the menu we noticed that this is not how “other” customers were being welcomed. I didn’t feel comfortable enough to ask for another drink due to the service I was receiving. Compared to how the staff were treating the other customers (white customers) there was a big difference for instance they would greet them and embrace them and make them feel welcomed into the restaurant. Yes, even making banter with them. What makes it worse is that when it came to paying the bill the waiter wouldn’t even acknowledge my presence he wound only speak to my girlfriend. Brighton is meant to be a place that welcomes all people but in Bella Napoli I guess you have to be white to fit that criteria.

Great independent Italian restaurant, fabulous authentic food, always have a specials board with new things to try & great service. Best Italian in Brighton & Hove in my opinion

This place used to be really good, haven't been for a while, what's happened? Just been treated to a starter of garlic ciabatta with what's supposed to be melted mozzarella, what I got was luke warm bread with un melted cheese, not good followed by chicken that was tough in a cold sauce with cold unmelted cheese with what can only be described as a kebab shop style salad and fries, no seasoning, no care taken in preparation at all, the waiter spent most of his time chatting up his fellow waitress....such a shame

Food was pretty good, lasagne and pizza were fine and good portions for the money. Service was not great, as they got very busy (we arrived around 5.30 and was almost empty but within 40 mins it was packed solid). The serving staff are rushed off their feet so there is no real attention paid to customers. Feels like a fast food place rather than a restaurant.

Very impressed with this lovely restaurant. Rustic. Authentic. Friendly. Fantastic food. Lovely place and would highly recommend. I had the calzoni and it was a 10 out of 10 and my accompanying critic had a creamy chicken, mushroom and spinach pasta which was delicious.

What can I say? The staff have taken a truly lovely restaurant and ruined it with appalling service. I had fondness for the food and so didn't leave a negative review until now, but this is 3 times, on the trot, that I've had such poor service I've chosen to leave rather than endure the insult just for a mediocre plate of Italian food. Be better, Bella Napoli. Hire people that actually care about customer service, and at the very least send your current staff to additional training they clearly need desperately. It was a sunny day today, I walked in, made eye contact with a staff member inside, grabbed a menu and went to the table right outside the window. My choice. I wanted to eat fairly nice food in a moderately pleasant spot of sunshine. After about 15 minutes of me looking around, trying to catch the eye of a staff member, being looked at and ignored, a brash and attitude-soaked chap poked his head outside, laughed at me, told me they're not serving outside, I said 'but I've chosen to sit outside...' he then had the gall to say 'did you tell anyone you were sitting outside?', as if a customer at a damn restaurant would need to tell the staff they intend to utilise the tables set on their venue to indulge in their services... Come on.... And then laughed at me, saying no, I'm not going to serve you outside its too cold.... The weather right now is 11° and sunny, feel free to check the reports, and moreover, I am a customer that decided to sit at a table they've provided, with no indication the outside tables were 'off limits'... So for the third time at this restaurant I simply walked away and gave my business to another eatery in the area. Supremely disappointed and as such will not go back, in addition to strongly advising every family member and friend I have to also not bother going. Great job!

A surprising find for a catch up with friends on a Sunday night. Great food, friendly service - we will be back if we are in the area to try more. Menu is plentiful with an excellent mix of pizza, pasta, meat and fish - all of which looked and tasted delicious.

Our favourite Italian Restaurant that we always recommend to people, best authentic pizza's, best food, lovely wine, I love their organic red wine, top service all staff are warm, happy, efficient & charismatic so atmosphere is great! Summer time we love to sit outside where doggies can come along with you & outside its smoker friendly. It's a place you know your going to enjoy the food & service garunteed! And lot's of free parking too!

Came here with the family on a Sunday afternoon. It was really busy and good atmosphere. I have read the bad reviews and I am very surprised as our experience was good. Our waiter was very attentive, we had good food with very generous portions, reasonably priced good quality red wine. The whole party was well looked after, good food and it was reasonably priced (I picked up the bill so was happy about that!). Ignore the poor reviews and go and have yourself a nice meal out.

I decided to go to this restaurant as it was recommended to me while I was on business in Brighton. It reminded me of a harvester in terms of the uninspiring decor and bland food which was served. The price tag however was what you would expect in a 5* high end restaurant. The quality of the food was poor, with the calamari being extremely chewy/rubbery and my salad lacking freshness. I left pretty much all of the food and ended up ordering room service back at my hotel. The service was equally poor, I was pouring my own water, requesting service, rather than being approached and I wasn’t offered any desserts. Extremely disappointing when it wasn’t at all busy when I was in there.

Thank goodness there are still some real Neapolitans here to give that wonderful atmosphere of the real Napoli. It's like popping over to Naples without the hassle if the flight/train. The pizza and ice cream were delicious too.

Perhaps I am going blind, but I'm sure I ordered a bottle of the cheapest house plonk in this establishment for £17 or thereabouts. When the bill came t hey had charged me £24. I queried it with the waiter and he fluttered the wine list in front of me saying that I had ordered a carafe. No I didn't!! I ordered the cheapest bottle of sangiovese/merlot that was on the menu and he gave me a bottle.. We both ordered the chicken calabrese which was sitting on a bed of yukky pre-cooked tomato sauce that they use on the pizzas. A thick slice of salami was placed on top of the overcooked chicken and it was adorned with a rubbery cap of mozzarella cheese. It was almost inedible! The vegetables that I ordered were thick chunks of carrots, and a few sprouts of broccoli . I will always go back for a pizza but their main courses are c**p..

Atmosphere.. was terrible! When we arrived there were tables that hadn't been cleaned and no staff to seat us. We got served after customers who arrived after us. All the staff seemed stressed and unhappy. Food was nice but the staff and the cleanliness just let it down.

Absolutely fantastic food and service. Went there for a 60th birthday and it certainly didn't disapoint . The steak was tender and juicy , not forgetting the fantastic flavour. Popped in for an unplanned evening meal the restaurant was busy and orderly. Food tasted great, atmosphere was vibrant, staff were professional and experienced. Overall a superb dining experience. Handsome portions and good value.

Excellent food, excellent service, great atmosphere and in an authentic environment. The team couldn’t do enough to make us comfortable and helped with recommendations. We were a family of 3 with 2 little dogs which they happily accommodated

Recent reviews were Marmite; reviewers either loved it or hated it but reading between the lines, we saw service issues, not food issues, so we gave it a go. Glad we did as although service was a bit slow and sullen to start with reinforcements arrived - the atmosphere lifted and the service then shone. The food was great and arrived piping hot and in generous portions. All together we had a great family lunch and would recommend this for great food.

A busy Wednesday evening and a great atmosphere. We started with garlic bread (both plain and with mozzarella) followed by pasta with chicken, seafood risotto (simply outstanding and a huge portion) and a special of the day - pork loin: easily enough for two! Merlot at £24 a bottle went down well too. Sometimes hard to catch the waiter’s eye but the food was top notch. This is a long-established response with quite a following so it’s advisable to book a table in advance.

This was such a terrible experience and upsetting for our friends (and us) who had visited this restaurant many times in the past with their late parents - our friends had so many happy memories which have now been “spoilt” by this visit - the area was dirty with chips still on the floor near our table, the food came up at lightning speed that suggests it was microwaved (and looked it) and when we wanted a little gap before ordering any deserts we were told we only had 2 minutes by the older very rude man who we assume was the manager - the young girl and young boy who was serving us did their best but clearly were being instructed to hurry us up - on leaving the reason the manager gave us is too upsetting to relay on here - we just hope whoever owns this restaurant gets to hear about this as his attitude was frankly disgusting.

Have a lot of lovely memories of this restaurant as used to go there many years ago so Recommended it to our friends. Booked a table for 8.30pm. Food was totally rushed through and was really not good (microwaved lasagne). The floor around our table was filthy. At 9.30pm the manager held two fingers in the air and shouted out ‘no more orders after two minutes. If u don’t order please leave’. We were shocked that only after one hour they were rushing us out the restaurant. We asked for our bill straight away and the waiter started to backtrack giving an excuse that would be wrong for me to put on here as it was totally offensive about another table of people who were in the restaurant. If I could give a minus I definitely would. Will never return to this place and would not recommend it. Such an extremely rude waiter. Should never have taken a booking for 8.30 if they wanted you out around 9.30.

We went here to celebrate a special birthday and was really let down by the disgusting service. Staff was extremely rude and ignored us all night, never asked how our food was, we had to store the birthday cake on my husband’s lap and light it ourselves. The owner only acknowledged us when it came to paying the bill. The food was burnt, chewy, not edible and tasteless. It was so burnt I nearly chipped my tooth. Restaurant has gone downhill and we will never visit again. You need to improve your customer service skills.

Have used this restaurant many times before and it’s always been good but we went last night for a special family occasion, the service was terrible from the start we sat there for 40 minutes before our food order was taken, I had to ask waiter to come over, sent two steaks back as was rare, we ordered medium , wife’s chicken was really dry , chewy and tasteless. No refill drinks were offered and I had to ask twice for the bill. Will never go there again

Quite busy, we had no booking but they found us a table quite quickly. As I couldn't finish my pizza margherita they kindly boxed it up and I ate it for supper. My grandchildren and son finished theirs. It was a relaxed atmosphere, well organized, good service, very efficient and kind staff.

A smart Italian restaurant serving excellent quality food at a competitive price. Very good service by plesent attentive staff. Did find the drinks to be rather expensive. Large glass of white wine £8.00 a glass .Was though very pale table .was told did not have what originally asked for. Was a serprise when came to pay. If you are in a large group the bill comes as one bill and you are left to sort it out. Park in the multi storey carpark. Free 4 hours. Avoid Asda parking area after closing time as have been told that clamping is likely.
