Food was excellent and the level of service was above and beyond

The manager (I think he is), is a lovely welcoming man, who naturally offers customers a personal touch when he greets them when they arrive, & seating them. Always remembers people who've been a few times before too, which is lovely. We were a group of approx 12 & we were treated very well. All the staff were attentive & efficient. Fab food & evening.. No faults 💯🫶

It was quiet we were there around 4pm, the waiter seemed pretty miserable to be honest but the food is where I draw the line I had a what felt like microwave lasagne that was 90% cheese and tomato sauce barely any mince or pasta, my partner has a carbonara and we shared a pizza that again was bread and oily cheese But about three hours later my partner had an upset stomach spending approximately 1 hour on the toilet half an hour after that I was vomiting We will never return, oh and the drinks were improperly prepared all this came to over £70 that’s insanity

Yummy food, well priced and lovely staff. Basic but all you need! Recommend the chicken salad 🥗

The food was tasteless, garlic bread with no garlic, tasteless meatballs, and bland sauce. The restaurant was freezing every time the door opened. Sorry, will not be returning. Not the fault of the restaurant, but an unruly child at another table, making it difficult to have a conversation.

We always get take away from here alot and eat in sometimes the food is always lovely!! Tonight we all come into the restaurant they tried to charge us for 2 alcohol drinks witch wasnt are’s and when service charge was asked to be taken off he then kept oninsisting on us paying him a tip kept asking you paying us a tip!! We was going to but to witch is very rude to keep asking for tips to customers!! To be honest we are totally gutted how rude we was treated tonight as we loved this place!!

I was with a beautiful woman who lives nearby in Hove so it wasn’t a natural first choice location for me. However, having gone there I think food is amazing. The staff already energised and enthusiastic with the products. My friend was keen to lose weight and asked for the sauce to be on the side. The salmon that I had as well was cooked with a lovely selection of seasoned vegetables accompanying itjust the right quantity and a very nice menu was offered.

Otello is a family and couple place. The atmosphere is just so. My husband and I have been going there for a few years. The food is DELICIOUS, and the staff are professional, friendly, and the place has a general warm feel to it.

When I was a teenager,my little sister and I came here for lunch. We ended up having dinner there. We stayed so long that our parents reported us missing. That's how great it was.

Lovely restaurant with very nice staff who were attentive, friendly and helpful... the food is absolutely lovely and good sized portions. Lovely little restaurant with an all round nice feel to it . I would recommend and I will definitely book again 🙂

I recently visited Hove for a holiday, and we stopped to eat lunch at Otello. The food was amazing, the service was brilliant, and the staff were incredibly nice and polite. We've been to a few restaurants in Hove, but Otello stood out. Five stars aren't enough for this restaurant. I highly recommend everyone try the food here ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Californian visiting Brighton Hove. First Italian spot in Brighton Hove and did not disappoint. The food is authentic and delicious. Topped off with a delicious chianti, Malbec and dessert. Thank you to the service staff and chef.

Can't fault this place it was great

Food was quite good, but staff were rude and physically intimidating towards my girlfriend. If the service charge is 'optional', don't get aggressive when someone asks to take it off.

MAMA MIA FANTASTICO EXCELLENT service and gorgeous food

Nice food, arrived quickly, value for money, about average. However, couldn’t wait to get rid of us, obviously needed the table, staff about as Italian as my Scottish uncle. Never felt welcome, not like the old Otello’s, doubt I’ll go again, shame really.

Really good food - I've only ever had the pizzas here but they've all been great! It gets really busy on the weekends so suggest making a booking, but its quieter in the week so you can just walk in :)

A fantastic little Italian restaurant. The food was delicious and affordable and very varied. They are happy to veganise most dishes for you, so that's what we did. Was not disappointed!

Great place for larger parties. We were 14 in numbers and the food arrived simultaneously and very warm. Great selection of Italian as well as English options and salads.

Drinks food seats location hygiene, everything is perfect the food is not too oily and the drinks are nicely served with clean glasses enjoyed this lunch very nice.

Had a huge pizza for a good price and it was all good. Service was attentive, and food appeared blazingly fast. Not sure what else to say. Didn't love the pop techno remixes but that aside, it hit the spot

Had a meal here last night, it was tasteless, skimped on ingredients, overpriced and cold. I have been coming here since the 90s but unfortunately I won’t be returning, neither will my friends, I have tried to support local businesses during difficult times but this standard of food is unexceptable.

Had a fabulous meal with friends this week. The pizza was fresh with a lovely thin base, pasta was super as was the swordfish. The wine was very good if a little pricey and we shared a tiramisu which was the only low light of the evening. What you must have if you try this establishments is their house special ‘Fancy Mancy’ coffee, delicious!

An excellent, must visit restaurant in Hove. Excellent food, home made, long established business not a chain. Will be back.

One of my favourite Italian restaurants in Hove. If you just fancy good Italian food then this is the place to go.. never disappoints. Everyone is so friendly there. Dishes are reasonably priced. Place is usually busy.. if you are going as big group then definitely book in advance.

The food is excellent. Sat outside on a warm evening with cheesy Italian background music and could have easily have been in Italy. Ample portions of food. Served timely and "efficiently". Only downside was the good but overpriced wine (partly due to extra VAT they have to pay), which many restaurants do.

Ended up here by accident on a Friday night and managed to get seats for 6 adults at short notice. We had been elsewhere and intended to eat there but their lack of decent vegetarian/mains made us shift. WHAT A FIND. Absolutely loved it. From the decor to the ambiance. The food was delicious. I can't taste much, but everyone could not stop praising the vegetarian lasagne, the pizza was nice too. I ordered the puttanesca with extra chilli. Yes definitely got the chilli . Service rapid and with a smile Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and polished off a decent red with it. Yes definitely do the desserts they're all good. Thank You for a wonderful evening If I ever come back to Hove will definitely come again.

So good. The mushroom tagliatelle was perfection.

My favorite italian restaurant in town at the moment. I absolutely loveeeeeed the food. Their chicken is halal. However, please check with staff before placing the order. I ordered aromatica & creme caramel. Wasn’t personally a fan of creme caramel though. Lovely staff as well.

4 of us booked for a Saturday night and so glad we did the service and the food were amazing . We will definitely be back

Had my friend's birthday here. The food was absolutely delicious, the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you. Everyone was made to feel welcome. Would definitely recommend.

My partner and I came here to celebrate her birthday. It was our first time visiting and we were very impressed. Food came out quickly and the portions were massive. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive. Would happily come back.

Can't find anything to complain about this independent Italian restaurant. Food was superb and the range was excellent. You can tell when everything is freshly prepared and piping hot. Staff were attentive and friendly. Prices in our opinion were very reasonable especially when you consider the quality of the food. Well worth a visit if ever in Hove.

We were visiting from Canada and in our walk found this restaurant for supper. The food and service were both excellent.

The arrabbiata tagliatelle was divine! Really quick and friendly service, lovely presented drinks.

Popped in for a quick lunch of calzone pizza and glass of wine. Good quality and quantity of filling but too much for me. Rare occasion for me to leave food.

Beautiful place and food was lovely- the waiter seemed to be unhappy so was a little short with us but otherwise, their service was okay. Didn't detract from the lovely experience had here.

Birthday meal ruined. The manager tried to convince my boyfriend the béchamel sauce on his lasagna should be burnt on top. Then tried to mix it into the dish pretending there was nothing wrong. We got it off the bill in the end after a heated debate, however poor service ruined our evening.

Look great place with great food however the hospitality of the place is terrible. The person in the front welcoming guests is welcoming and warm however the waiter was terrible. He was cold and he looked as if he was mad for something. Maybee he was having a bad day but it is just not an enjoyable experience having him as waiter.

I went with a group of teenagers, the food was fantastic, generous portion and extraordinary service. The waiters were very efficient taking the order and the service was smooth. I am planning to go with my family in the following days. Highly recommended.

Stopped by for lunch on a Sat afternoon recently and loved it. Auhentic Italian restaurant that was bustling with customers. We had the whitebait and mussels for starters, both excellent and arrived quickly. Mains equally good and my pizza was fantastic. See attached pictures. Would definitely visit again.

This is a must try restaurant. Delicious food, remarkable FAST service, friendly staff, nice and clean ambience. Also generous portions and lots of variety in the menu. We were there for family dinner with 2 kids and enjoyed it very much. Defiantly we will return. Thank you Otello Team.

A relaxed atmosphere inside. Basically if you like pasta and sauces then this is your place. There are about 20 different menu selections for pasta sauces, and you can then chose from several different types of pasta. There are other options like pizzas and more classic choices like seafood, steaks, etc. This place can get quite busy at weekends and weeknights, but was fine a little bit later on.

We had a lovely lunch here. The food was excellent, service very good and we'll definitely be going back.

Booked weeks ahead. Arrived to corner table, Out of sight!!. Thin ribeye steak swam under sauce...again out of sight.Staff shortage and casual. Won:t return.

One of our favourite places to visit. I have been with my husband for almost 10 years and it's somewhere that we had our first date at and anniversary dinner ever since. Very close to our heart and have never had a bad service. Highly recommend.

Really not recommended. Service terrible, value also awful food OK at best - very very heavily salted and most of it was microwaved. I was told rudely by the waiter that the chicken was not available with chips as a side dish despite the fact the menu clearly said it was. The potatoes they provided instead we literally like a joke, half of one potato cut into 3 and not even cooked. After about 40 minutes the food was delivered to our table in 4 minute intervals. We tried 3 times to get the waiter back to our table after the food had mostly been delivered because some of the sides we ordered were missing, on two separate occasions he literally ignored when we said 'excuse me' while he walked past, it was like a comedy sketch but unfortunately not a very funny one.
