Vero Gusto Bakery in Brighton and Hove

I lived in Italy for a couple of years and am really happy to have found veto gusto and the authentic and delicious pizza, cakes and coffee. The taste is identical to any similiar cafes and bakeries in towns across Italy. The staff are excellent, they are nice and very welcoming. So far, I only have visited in the winter months and have only sat inside. Looking forward to the warmer months so I can sit outside, drink good coffee and delicious pizza. La dolce vita.

Our little family love this place, staff are always warm and welcoming. The pizza is amazing and reminds me of a trip to Rome. The pastries wow! Must have a visit buy a slice of pizza and warm your soul with some good grub!!

The Italian coffee here is sooo good. The food selection is really tasty too.

Cluttered between many shops at St.James street..this is a small but beautiful and calm place... The interiors are beautiful... They serve excellent bakery cuisine along with great coffees and teas... They serve pizzas, croissants, cakes, tarts, etc ...all fresh n tasty .. coffees and teas are made with love... Coffee consists of beautiful froth... The presentation at the outlet is very appealing... Service is also good... The quality and quantity is worth the price. Planning to visit soon ..

Good patisserie but the attitude of the servers was very rude.

Possibly the best ever cake, I’ve had ever in my life!!!!!! And good coffee too, which is a rare find. There black americano was strong intense but smooth 😋

We now go to this little cafe up St James Street every time we visit Brighton. It's small, unassuming and humble interior belies the truly immense selection of savoury and sweet selections that awaits. I hate big thick deep crust style pizzas and yet whilst those found here, at first glance, look like that, they are instead light and fluffy, with just the right level of chewiness and delightful flavours. The choice of cakes and pastries is immense, homemade and truly delicious. The coffee is of a great pedigree and tastes just perfect. Finally, the lovely staff are friendly, engaging and helpful. A true gem.

Very expensive for the quality. A slice of pizza was £4.50 and a very old and dry sweet pastry was £4 . No explanation on the items or prices and the staff are not welcoming . If you try to ask they look at you with annoyance. Pizzas are cold and they reheat them on the microwave (don’t know if that’s common) I was hosting some friends so they wanted to try and we had a big selection of pizzas, they taste nice but too much oil. I live very close but I can’t justify £4 for a small old pastry.

Great italian cafe, hot pizza slices available from 8 am, plenty of choices. Fantastic fresh cakes. Very friendly and great service 👍

I wouldn’t say rude but the workers were very cold, they didn’t speak very loudly and mumbled and would answer my questions reluctantly. They only have a menu for the coffees which was obscured so I asked what type of cakes they had and he seemed annoyed. The food was so so good though

Tired a couple of things from here and I really enjoyed the food . The Nutella pastry is really good .

This place located centrally in brighton on Saint James street offers a variety of bakes from sweet to savoury. I did not want to give it a 4 star first but the food saved it. I had a chocolate cake which seemed made with coconut and cocoa topped with shredded coconut pieces. It tastes great and fudgy( 3£) The decaf latte was a large one for 3.3£, with a delightful taste of fresh coffee. The pizza is mind blowing, I love thick crust pizzas.but this one has a fluffy spongy thick crust, that is crispy on the bottom and melts in your mouth i got the vegetarian one which had mixed vegs and topped with probably the best cheese. In few words the pizza had an amazing taste that lifted me. A slice of pizza is for 2.95£. On the other hand, the place doesn't offer a menu with price list, and no prices are displayed on the items. One of the staff was very dry and looked bored which at first gave me a very bad impression of the place. But then I realised it is probably her character cz she tried to pull a smile while serving the coffee. The chefs are so nice and welcoming. I think this place should display item names and prices for people to be encouraged to buy because noone wants to order and be surprised by the bill or be annoying and ask about every single item price especially if staff looked bored and not interested to help. If it wasn't for this it definitely deserves 5 stars🤩 The ambiance had chill yet energizing vibe with mix of rnb pop and soul music playing the the background. Seating is okey but can be improved, you could also see the bakery kitchen which is reassuring.toilettes are clean and neat.

The cake and the pastries look good but were DRY and old. The pizza was okay (hence 2 stars) but the staff were quite rude; they didn't seem happy to re-heat the pizza. The Nutella coffee sounds lovely but was really watery and it was a sad experience. We went somewhere else for coffee afterwards.

The food, even though looking great on display, was very old and stale. Very poor quality, the pastries were like chewing a rock, and the pizzas were very cold. I cannot possibly see how someone would rate 4 and 5 stars there. Will definitely not be visiting again

Stopped by as a bit cold too picnic on the beach. The server was helpful and kind, the coffee was delicious and pizza breads a great reasonably priced snack. The deserts looked insanely good!! We will definitely be back!

Walked passed the widow and the pastry’s caught my attention went in and was greeted by a lovely young lady. She was knowledgeable on all the pastry’s so I bought two Nutella pastry’s and two lasagna. The lasagna was absolutely delicious and very cheesy. Would recommend buying!

Came here today for coffee and cakes with my family. Friendly staff, HUGE selection of cakes and pizza - all looked delicious. I had a fruit tart and kids had a delicious looking fruity cake. The pizza looked really delicious - we will try it next time we stop by.

Poor customer service, was made to feel unwelcome!!! I've been there couple of times and the waitress is always rude, she never says Hi/good morning or thank you even if I repeat it... As well, I can never place my order properly because she is always trying to rush me. It is a shame honestly, because I really enjoy the products.

An amazing family run traditional Italian bakery. If you are a coffee snob then this is the place for you!!!The selection of pastries is amazing. very dirty there should be a cleaner to clean the tables after people they are busy the food was tasty and Fresh but the general hygiene of place is not up the scratche

The staff was working alone and I understand the pressure,when i ordered a pizza,it was served cold.i was sitting and eating it there when the staff there did offer an option to other customers if they want it to be warmed.

Pleasent enough . Decent cake and pizza . Tables not cleaned /wiped (had to do this ourselves )

The bakery is very nice but I got confused few times with the prices. I went two days in the rota to get a couple of croissants and price almost doubled up over night. I would say maybe is the inflation but it also happened in the past. Prices are not exposed so its very hard to estimate how much it will cost. In future I'll ask before to buy Sweet and savory are good.

Great staff, quality patisserie very italian Cornetto: cream - chocolate are top the staff are very nice and friendly and the prices are very affordable. My favorite place in Brighton when I go and visit my sun in University of Sussex.

We went to get dessert at this place. I bought a chocolate tart and a strawberry tart. The strawberry one was bad and seemed old. The chocolate one however was horrible. It was so stale and hard that I couldnt bite into it. I tried cutting it with a knife and half shot across the counter because of how hard it was. When I finally tried it, it tasted artificial like plastic. Needless to say it ended up in the garbage. What a waste of time and money.

THE best traditional Italian focaccia I’ve found in Brighton. And so reasonably priced! This’ll be a frequent place me and my partner visit and I can’t wait to try all of the other things they offer, especially their other baked goods.

The pizza slices you can get here are so tasty and great value for money! Many different options as well including veggie and vegan, with a selection of different pastries and sweets as well 👌🏻

Absolutely delicious pizza here. Had it al taglio 4 pieces.. I just could not stop enjoying it all. Big thanks to the chef young guy who cooked on Sunday evening of Brighton Pride , you got me started perfectly for the party later. Even had a chant to speak in italian with one of the italian ladies serving there. I’ll come back again there !

Such a beautiful bakery in the heart of Brighton. We visited multiple times during our stay as we loved it so much. If you’re a hot chocolate fan, there’s is honestly one of the best I’ve ever tried!! Amazing pastries, hot food and wide selection!

Don't answer phone. Ignores emails. Serves wet food in paper bags. Tried to complain and got ignored. Don't bother. Waste of money. Poor service. Poor food. Terrible.

Brought 2 biscuits from here, £6!!!! And they were both stale! Took them back and the bloke refused to give me a refund. Vile.

My partner and I really enjoyed eating there. The pizzas are authentic and well cooked. As for the iced coffee and cakes ... Superb! Will definitely visit again next time we're in Brighton!

OMG, OMG! This place is AMAZING and it serves the most fabulous pastries and pizzas and coffee. Oh why do I have to wait until my visits to my daughter to experience such heavenly things to eat? Please, please open up a branch in Pembroke, so that the people of Wales can experience your ambrosial menu? Treat yourself and make a bee line for Vero Gusto and when you're tucking into a morsel of their delicious food, think of me!

Okay so Vero Gusto has a communications problem. They seem to think that just because they are Italian they are mafioso lol they’re not…i on the other hand am So they have bitten of more than they can chew now they’re on my list. I will pay a repeat visit later on this month if I don’t get what I want an apology for a start a fii or FIVE⭐️ performance from me will follow.

Delicious Italian patisserie in Brighton. We had beautiful Italian cornetti filled with crema pasticciera, pistacchio cream and nutella. Staffò is friendly and welcoming.

Katya the baker and Sofyef the barista was brilliant in product and service..I can recommend multi visits.. I have been several times and awaiting the Appel strudel fresh from the oven.. The coffee is great too.. great atmosphere too.. GO GIVE IT A TRY..

We popped in here for a quick lunch after our English class. We found a large range of food, that includes croissants and amazing slices of pizza. We were three and we ordered different types of pizzas, so we were able to try new tastes. Even though the place is small, it’s cosy and we could find a table. The prices are also affordable for students.

I normally purchase the Lasagne which was £5.00. They have recently change the price to £7.00 for one portion. I can honestly say I won't be going back. Who's ever doing the pricing is a bit out of touch.

This is the best Italian bakery in St James Street. They have a very large variety of fresh savoury and sweet goods. The quality is excellent. You will definitely find something to suit your taste. In summer, they have outdoor seating with a lovely view of the town. Their staff are also very friendly and courteous. I can’t recommend this place enough.
