Really good Italian ice cream, pricey for nearly £4 per scoop, not fantastic but it's a great treat on the beach

Whilst on the beach on a Wednesday morning me and my group of adults with learning difficulties wanted some ice cream. The staff of Marrocco’s immediately looked as if they did not want us there. Despite it raining outside, we were told we could not sit inside with a large ice cream and drinks order. At first it was said we must buy hot food to enter, yet when we reluctantly said that we would do this, we were then refused entry, with the staff stating that there was not enough space (there was not a single person sitting in the restaurant at the time). Overall this was an extremely disappointing and poor experience where it was clear from the start that we were not wanted at Marrocco’s - leading to us having some excellent ice cream elsewhere in Hove.

First time here, certainly one of the better ones and Leffe on tap!

amazing fresh pasta with the most delicious sauce! came for their famous ice creams but loved their pasta as we decided to give it a try. had the mint choc & coffee ice cream for dessert - perfect end to a fine date.

We've been coming here for 15 years and have never been disappointed. 5* seafood , ice cream and service.

It's not just a coffee and food. It's also the view you can enjoy while eating.

Amazing ice cream but it can be quite a wait on busy days

Had a really appalling experience with Morocco’s manageress today. Rang this evening as saw some staff deal with an issue quite unprofessionally today. She continued to discuss a separate issues, raise her voice over the phone to me and ask if she could give me feedback - I was not and would never shout - then told me I was on some way involved in the group who had the issue, then when I was saying the conversation was obviously not productive and could I send an email - she hung up on me!! I’ve been going to moroccos for years and have only ever had pleasant experiences. Genuinely have never been spoken to so rudely in my life!!

The server was quite rude, she was not polite at all and almost did everything with a bad face. The food was alright but the treatment was awful

My friend who uses battery-powered wheelchair was refused entry/service today when she tried to have a cup of tea there after a walk on the promenade. I offered to play with the dogs outside so there was no issue here. It looked like the staff simply didn't want to bother with helping to get the wheelchair over that 1 small step, which I've seen done in so many different places with much smaller front door...

I was with Artur and couldn’t believe we were refused entry with my friend in a battery powered wheelchair. The staff called the chair a “trolley” and said trolleys were not allowed. Firstly it is against the law to refuse entry and secondly it totally discriminated against my friend who was very shocked and upset. I won’t be going back there

Wanted to love it and was attracted by reputation but unfriendly staff member serving at kiosk. Coffee was good, but ice cream was mediocre. Chocolate ice cream had very little flavour and wasn't creamy at all. Don't think I'd bother going back, sadly.

Anyone local will know how good Marrocco's is. So this is more for those down for the day or new to the area. You won't beat the ice cream. It's incredible and has always been. The variety of flavours, along with the best standard flavours, provides a great selection for even the fussy! I've also had a selection of hot drinks over the years and have always enjoyed them with no issues. The pizza is also great! I can't say I've eaten much else off the menu, but everything I have had has been wonderful. The staff are always nice and courteous even in the summer when the queue goes around the block! Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone after a bite to eat or just a top-tier ice cream!

Rude service, ordered a coffee whilst waiting to meet a friend for lunch and was told i can drink it outside! She then proceeded to sell another customer that was just there for coffee but they could sit inside as it was a female. They also have a bucket of water for the icecream scoop that had peeps take away stirrers ect disgusting!!! Will never go there again and to the rude woman that served me if you can call it service, get a new job you miserable person!!!!! The seasides meant to be fun!!! No wonder you establishment is empty!!!

Popped in for a hot drink during a blustery walk on the promenade. It was very well received even though we felt like second class citizens only being allowed to sit at the front two table because we weren't eating a meal. This was at about 4:30pm when there was only 1 table occupied by a couple having an early fish and chip supper.

By far the best carbonara I have ever tasted. With warm & friendly staff. Authentic, simple, good value, perfect

Took my mother for a coffee there .. surly unwelcoming manager told us to sit at a table that wasn't comfortable for my 88 year old mother. He let us look at the menus for 3 minutes and then took them away again! My mother was very confused! Told us all the other tables reserved for lunch. Every single table was empty. Seemed a bit over the top for me! Waitress was charming though. Wouldn't want to go back there. The whole episode made us feel really uncomfortable

It's fine, but not great. But might be just me... 😂 As I've noticed the owners are Italians and they had a few italian customers. I've had better risotto and better services in Italy and elsewhere. I was looking for a risotto with mushroom (ideally with truffle), but couldn't find any in the menu, so I ordered the untasty chicken one instead.

Always been happy with their ice creams etc. Went in for a coffee on a wet stormy day 21 Oct about noon. Place was empty. Waitress was totally rude saying we could only have a table if we were having lunch. As I sad it was empty. The waitress was no credit to them. Needless to say we did not have lunch.

A real shame and a let down, very bad customer service. Having been many times before buying ice creams from the window for many years through the summer months. Our experience today was dreadful. After a wet winters blusrty walk this morning, we chose to pop in for a coffee and a pizza for the girls to share. Choosing this over another venue! The waitress on arrival was nothing short of both rude and unwelcoming. The cafe was empty bar one family and we were told we cannot have pizza for the girls and sit in the restaurant as that was only one meal! She then said we could sit there on this one occasion but will not be able to do that again! On top of that she said we could just sit in the entrance area, only 4 chairs for 5 of us. I asked for another chair for my husband from the restaurant. She said no, you can’t have that chair bring the one in from outside! On that note, we decided to leave. Which was a real shame and the children were also taking all of this in!!

A brilliant place for an incredible ice cream on the beach. Massive variety of flavours too.

A hidden foodie paradise on the Hove sea-front. It's impossible to decide which is more impressive. Is the warm and genuine service from the Italian staff, or the flavourful seafood dishes expertly freshly made. Luckily both are here in abundance. Generous portions of super fresh fish and seafood given the Italian treatment. I particularly love the squid ink homemade pasta. If I could make one change I'd reorganise the layout as there's only a narrow seating area at the front with a rather dark and hidden space within, but its clearly not held this legendary eatery back over the many decades of its existence, so long may it continue!

Stopped by just for ice cream and didn't think it was great. I asked to taste two ice creams and the server was super moody and didn't even say a word to me. Maybe having a bad day but not very nice, and there was no one else queueing. No sorbet options and the mango ice cream I had was much too soft and overly creamy for my taste.

Famous ice cream place (long queues in windy afternoon), wonderful seafood & gnocci dishes, friendly service, wonderful sea view. Will come again!

Food fabulous, weird and rude waitress though, we had 2 babies so perhaps she didn't like that but it ruined the atmosphere for us as well.

Coffee is lovey from here. I also had pizza, which was also good. Knock one star because it was quite expensive £27 for pizza ( standard size and coffee to take away ) Staff was very polite, and the venue looked clean and smart.

Great home made ice cream and smoothies. Try the tropical breeze smoothie and salted caramel and blueberries cheese cake ice cream on a cone.

Ice cream so good we came back the next day. Only down side is the flavour are different every day so I couldn't have the salted peanut which I'd been thinking about all morning! Though the blueberry cheesecake was great too 😋

Excellent restaurant, delicious food, very nice services from Christio and Christiana. We enjoyed our holidays in Hove & Brigton because of Marrocco. Definitely will come back to Hove to taste again.

We’re regulars at Marocco’s. Service as always friendly and prompt. It was a very busy day. We felt maybe the meatballs were not fresh. And there didn’t seem to be much pancetta in my pasta.

Very disappointed with the ice creams. It’s not what it used to be. Lack of flavour and watery texture, no rich creaminess and scoops are much smaller. Such a shame as they were so good before.

Not sure where to start, all foods were so good and Marrocco will be the reason why if I come back to Brighton for next visits. Staff is passionate and friendly, good and caring services, we enjoyed it so much! We tried calamari as starter, full crab spaghetti, black spaghetti, and calm vogonle. It is amazing!!!!!! And we had scoops of ice cream and coffee as dessert, ice cream is 10/10, seriously you can’t miss it!

A constant source of joy. The homemade gelato is worth queuing for. A good selection of classic flavours and some fancy ones. The eating here is great too, evening meals and lunch are superb. The pizza is authentic and worth seeking out.

I took my granddaughter here for ice cream 2 days on the trot. The waitress recognised us which was nice. The ice creams are amazing and they have amazing choices, although I only ever have chocolate or mint choc chip. On a sunny day expect to queue for ice cream

Completely overrated! Nasty staff put less and less ice cream every time I visit. And to be honest it is not the best ice cream in Brighton, just a normal ice cream sold by people who lost grip on reality. They should install scales and sell ice cream by weight!

Bit pricey. I've been going since I was a kid in the 80's and have noticed the portion sizes going down and prices going up. I got 8 small squid pieces for £11. Small side salad was £5.50. Seemed a bit steep. When questioned with the portion size, the waiter pointed blame towards the market. However, I've always found the staff to be lovely and sincere and the atmosphere to be welcoming. My toddler loved her carbonara and icecream for the kids meal - £9.95 - includes pizza or pasta, a soft drink and a scoop of ice cream, not bad for kids. But still, when the bill came I was disappointed.

Very good ice cream, there is sometimes a queue, but usually if you get it out of busy times it's quite. They have a wide range of flavours to choose from, would definitely recommend!

Tried the crab spaghetti, expensive but huge. Tried the ice cream several times, not much queue in winter. Not as good as I tried I Italy. And every time I bought ice cream here, it melted into your hand in 10 seconds, makes it sticky, I don’t have that problem in Italy even 35 degree sunny. Pistachio is always out of stock, anyways all favour tastes milky, not strong favour taste.

Very popular location, visited on a weekday evening in July and they just managed to squeeze us in. Great range of choice on the menu for Italian dishes. Make sure to leave space for some gelato at the end.

Excellent place to enjoy time with friends and have delectable Italian food and wine. Had aubergine burata, meatballs and spaghetti, cheese and spinach tortolini, pene pasta with spicy sausage in red sauce with brandy rounding of with their gelato. A place definitely worth revisiting. Bill included service charges. Only dampener was the weather,😊

The ice cream at maroccos is fantastic, couldn't rate it high enough and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

When you visit Brighton and you go for a walk or cycke towards hove lawns, you need to go for an ice cream or pizza in this place. It is a classic and they have amazing ice creams with competitive prices. My suggestion is to get your bike and go for a long ride along the seafront and do a pit stop in Marrocco's for pizza takeaway to be eaten on the beach and then later have an ice cream. Maybe Marrocco's could do an offer like that...pizza and ice cream takeaway! :)

If you love ice cream and you're on brighton seafront in hove, there is only one place to go. Great ice cream and great location. I do with they mixed up the flavours a bit, but that's only a suggestion.

Very old Italian restaurant founded in 1969, originally it was an ice cream shop. Very popular in Brighton. We came here for their famous lobster linguine but unfortunately they don’t have lobster on the day we visited. We then finally order CRAB SPAGHETTI , PACHERI CON FRUTTI DI MARE and GRIGLIATTA DI PESCE and fish & chip. All are beautifully presented and delicious 😋. Staff are attentive and nice. Seating are comfortable. As an authentic Italian ice cream shop, it’s a must try so we get ourselves 2 scoops each on the way we left. They have quite some variety of favour to choose from but unfortunately without my top pick Pistachios 🤤.

We had classic Italian dishes, over priced for mediocre dishes in my opinion, presentation could have been better. We were sat by the entrance which is manic with the street sale of ice-cream. I was abrasively challenged if I was a customer when I left the table mid meal to go to the toilet. The wait staff were often looking busy and avoiding attending the tables. We got our food before we got drinks. While it wasn't a horrible experience, it didn't feel like a £70 for two kind of meal.

We had a lovely evening meal here. Although it was a tiny bit understaffed, we were served in good time and the food was absolutely beautiful. We had our ice cream on the beach afterwards which was gorgeous in the evening sun. Thank you everyone ❤️

Absolute must when visiting Brighton....I mean Hove!

After first experiencing Marrocco’s ice-cream on a visit in 2022, I resolved to go back, as it was so exceptionally good. This year whilst staying in the area, I have visited as many times as possible and tried a number of flavours (Chocolate, Coffee, Lemon Meringue, Mint Choc Chip) all of which have been superb. Having tasted gelato in Italy, this is just as good. Their sorbets are very nice too. An absolute must if you are anywhere nearby, but be prepared to queue, although it is 100% worth it!

The ice cream was too good after a nice walk on the sea side

In my 15 years in the UK, never have I experienced such an unpalatable incident as the one I had at Maroccos in Hove on June 13, 2023. I've seen the 'customers only' toilet policy at some places, but what transpired at Maroccos was beyond comprehension. It was a simple plan: my boyfriend and I decided to enjoy an ice cream on a beautiful sunny day. While I waited outside, he went in to use the restroom and ran into the 'customers only' hurdle. I shrugged it off, ready to become a customer, getting in line to order our treats. Soon after, my boyfriend emerged, his face a mirror to his frustrating encounter inside. Despite explaining our intent to buy, a ponytailed staff member denied him the restroom, demanding a receipt. We were in the process of buying, and still, he was refused! The rudeness and dismissiveness of the staff were the cherries on top of a very bitter sundae. Seeing my boyfriend's distress, we decided not to patronise Maroccos. The whole episode left a sour taste, overshadowing the sweetness we had hoped for. Here's a thought for Maroccos: I hope saving a few litres of water from one less toilet flush was worth the damage to your reputation. Two one-star reviews from reputable accounts are no small matter. In my 15 years in the UK, I've never been so motivated to discourage others from a business. For those considering Maroccos in Hove, be prepared. The service can be colder than their ice cream. I'd rather take my custom to places that treat people decently, where respect is a given, not a privilege.

Ice cream is good, but not as good as the queues would imply.

"Bad Vibes and Cold Service at Maroccos in Hove" I'm writing about a pretty rotten time I had at Maroccos in Hove on Tuesday, 13th June 2023. It's a place famous for ice cream, but the experience I got was nothing sweet. First off, I asked to use the toilet. They told me "customers only". Alright, that's not too unusual, some places do that. So, I stepped outside, my girlfriend went in to order our ice cream, making us 'real' customers now. Thinking the issue was sorted, I walked back in to use the toilet. But this staff member, the one with the ponytail, she stopped me. She told me I needed to show her a receipt. What? We were right in the middle of buying something! The way she acted was the real problem, though. She was rude and acted like I was bothering her. She had this really bad attitude, like she didn't care about us at all. That's not how you treat people, especially not when they're trying to be customers! It felt so bad that we decided not to buy anything after all. We just left. And yeah, I ended up going to the toilet outside. So if you're thinking about going to Maroccos for a treat, maybe think twice. The ice cream might be good, but the service can be real cold. I know I won't be going back. I'd rather find a place where they treat people right.
