Marrocco's in Brighton and Hove

Decided to try the so famous “best icecream in Brighton”. Being a former pastry chef I was expecting something incredibly good… boy was I in for a treat!!! Not only the staff were slower than a sloth 🦥 and simply were not interested in smiling or talking to customers, only a few flavours were available. I chose the blueberry and cheesecake. It tasted like artificial flavored yoghurt.. (no blueberry or cheesecake flavour at all) Yukk ! 🤮 Even the Haagen-dazs and Ben an jerries tubs taste better! £7.90 for two scoops that taste like a 5year old as come up with that recipe is absolutely ridiculous. Specially when customer service was practically non existent! She didn’t even say hi when it was our turn!! If you really want amazing icecream … Venice in Italy is the only place I’d recommend getting it from! Lols yes…. Is not down the road but I travel a lot and so far… nothing has beaten them! Anyway… if you have exquisite taste… this is definitely not the place my friend! Ps- a few year back when Selfridges were selling the £99 icecream… that was truly worth the money! Yes I know… the value is not the same but it’s just to give you a rough idea of why you’ll get!

Unreal Ice cream! Great selection of gelato in classic and unique flavours

My husband and I ordered a whole sea bass each. Utterly delicious, and came with vegetables and salad. A wonderful evening, rounded off with a walk along the peaceful Hove sea front.

Great food, we had the frito misto sharer,I would have liked more prawns and calamari and less fish,all very well cooked.We indulged in the homemade ice cream.

A lot of people think the best ice cream in Brighton is here. The 25 minute wait in line backs this up. And I'm told this is a short queue. All I can say is it tasted good. A double scoop, one of white chocolate and pistachio, and one of snickers flavour, in a cone with a flake on top will set you back £6.50. The snickers had roasted salted peanuts, a combo I've not had before. On a warm, sunny day on a bench overlooking the beach I spent a very pleasant 20 minutes making it disappear.

Very overhyped ice cream! It’s quite watery and the flavours are very cheap and artificial tasting !Tastes like powered cheap flavouring.

On this occasion I didn't actually stop! This was because the queue was MASSIVE (almost as big as the servings they give you) so I didn't bother stopping! However, previous experiences have always been good. A great variety of ice creams and coffees to choose from. Prices are on par for the area (not a chep treat) but indulgent! Parking is restricted though.....

Beautiful seafood, ice-cream, reasonable prices. Very friendly and polite... Please be aware, due to the location (and busy hours) to find somewhere to park your car wasn't easy.

Very little food for the price factor

This is a budget ice cream place. I don’t get why there is such a large queue for non authentic ice cream. It’s not gelato. You can get the same stuff from a supermarket. Authentic ice cream is not being served here. I had the mint chocolate chip and nothing but chocolate chips with no taste of mint. Wouldn’t come here for ice cream again.

This is restaurant selling Italian type food but otherwise nothing like an authentic Italian restaurant. The food is nice but overpriced,plus they automatically add 10 % to the bill. Wine prices are high. Great choice of ice cream flavours

Delicious ice creams and pizzas

We have sat down, only to be told that coffee and desserts are take away only. Not a place for us. Disappointing

Didn't try anything as they don't serve desserts in nor coffee, which was a huge disappointment. The waiter sat us down by the entrance whilst it was empty and plenty space inside and didn't inform that they actually serve food only. Well, icecream is a food. Lack of information. That is a no go for me. Won't queue for their ice-cream again. Waist of time

I came for the Viral Dubai Chocolate Bar ice cream dessert and I wasn’t disappointed. What an experience… double ice cream scoops (I went for white choc and regular pistachio) wedged between an actual VDC bar then covered in delicious sauces and kunafa sprinkles! Worth noting that you can’t sit inside if you’re just ordering ice cream and instead are served out of the front hatch… take tissues, a drink (you’ll need one), and watch out for those seagulls whilst you walk along the promenade enjoying the pudding of dreams. I got the 10 min bus ride on the 1X route from central Brighton to Hove - super easy - and then walked 25 mins along the sea front back to the central pier area. Fabulous!

Always popular, ice cream isn't quite good enough to justify the queue times sometimes, but the setting is great and isn't much in the way of alternatives around.

Service was so quick despite the queue! The ice cream was tasty, especially the new Dubai chocolate flavour.

My wife has been wanting to try the new Dubai chocolate ice cream for a while… So we went this evening… She throughly enjoyed it,I settled for a two scoop cone. The ice cream is amazing and the staff are very friendly. We’ll definitely return in the near future…

Went there to get icecream during my stroll along the beach, recalling from last year they had (varying) vegan options (i'm lactose intolerant). The blackboard outside listed chocolate and mango as vegan options. Despite the short queue had to wait for 20+ minutes (they were very slow to serve), only to then find out that the info on the blackboard was incorrect: The only vegan option was pomegranate (with 10+ non-vegan options). As I don't enjoy that taste, left without icecream. (Went to Boho Gelato in Ship Street instead; more vegan options; chose rhubarb and chocolate--cherry.)

Yeah it’s decent - expect a queue though on a hot day!

I eat here - it is good, but we are all willing to queue for 45 minutes or more for the amazingly delicious ice cream. An array of assorted flavours (I particularly love the pistachio and salted caramel) that is rich & creamy. It really is worth the good-natured wait.

Went with my husband for a meal at about 6pm. The place was packed and the staff very busy. The food was superb. My husband had a risotto and raved about it (he doesn’t normally like Italian food) and I had pasta which was delightful.

Very disappointing ice cream (we tried 5-6 different flavours between us). Certainly not worth the long queueing! Brighton has better ice cream parlours!

Took my daughter here for some ice cream. We sat at the tables at the front and had yummy ice cream. Lotus biscoff flavour was amazing

4 of us Arrived 6:45pm on a tuesday. They refused to seat us due to no tables being free. Every table was empty except 2, was very odd interaction. The staff who greeted us seemed to think turning us away was funny… Avoid this rude antisocial restaurant.

The waiter who has black hair with a comb over is a horrible man and never smiles and treated another staff and customers horribly. The horrible waiter looked 30/40 Indian region and was quite short.

I found it quite strange to receive two different bills without any explanation. The previous bill did not include a service fee, while the latest one did. It makes me wonder about the consistency of the charges although the service was not particularly great.

Best ice cream in Brighton easily

Good quality but did not like the way they restrict customers to front tables just because you come for tea/coffee.. Once I came and they did not make me to complete my question despite wanted coffee/tea, the guy said ".. kitchen closed sorry".

Just a coffee before heading off fishing. Great coffee, really nice staff. Very welcoming atmosphere....will return to try the menu!

This restaurant was so good thirty years ago, the food now is expensive, and staff are not at all friendly. Our calamari was tough and chewy, we ordered King Prawn seafood spaghetti the prawns were ok, however my pasta was so stodgy, my friend is ltalian and wasn’t impressed as it was very expensive as well. Restaurant at 8.pm on a Saturday night was empty not a good sign, so disappointed as l have had good meals here in the past.

As a family who is Brighton born and bread we have enjoyed many ice-creams and meals at Marocco’s over the years…until today. We were unceremoniously asked to vacate our table as our order of icecreams for the children and coffees for my wife and I was not deemed sufficient to warrant being allowed to have a table. The restaurant was not full, there wasn’t lots of passing trade and the busy lunch time service was over. If there is a minimum order to be judged as suitable to occupy a table then the restaurant should really make it clear that is their policy. Plus it wasn’t very hygienic to have food and disposable cutlery stored right next to the toilets out the back. Makes you wonder what the kitchen is like. Very disappointed and we will not be returning in the future. Maka around the corner was much more welcoming, and our kids loooved their malteaser icecreams :)

Perfect dinner in the most recommended and truly authentic Italian restaurant in Brighton & Hove. Their chicken and mushroom risotto was just amazing! Delicious plates, great atmosphere and perfect place to eat in after a walk on the seafront. We looking forward to being back soon!

We were a group of 6 people who went in for ice creams. The restaurant was completely empty and yet they said we couldn’t sit at the tables unless we were ordering food. We were made to sit on 2 chairs at the front. Whilst we were there 2 other big groups came in and then just left without ordering anything when they were also told they couldn’t sit down. What a bizarre strategy to turn away customers when the whole place is empty! So unwelcoming

Then when I went to go to the toilet, I saw it was up 4 really steep, narrow, winding and slippery steps. I went back and said to the 2 staff behind the counter that the toilet was inaccessible to me. They didn’t apologise or say anything. They didn’t make eye-contact and completely ignored me. The food isn’t much to write about either. Won’t be going back again.

Morroccos used to be awesome - not now Really awful customer sevice knew nothing about their menu. The waiter was rude as well also knew nothing about their menu.

Family Group stopped off here on a stormy Sunday. Not a very warm welcome from Manager, who informed us we couldn’t sit in any of his many empty seats without buying chips with our ice cream!! Maka Cafe one minute down the side street. Great welcome, lovely ice cream (twenty varieties) and home made pastries. Wonder where we’ll go next weekend. Mmm!!

It's my first time in Brighton and I had dinner with my family here and it was a lovely experience, the food was awesome I must say, friendly staff and very beautiful environment.

Came in today was asked before I even sat down what I wanted , before even viewing a menu, I've been coming here for many years. Who are these rude people working here now ! I replied Maybe an ice cream sundae and hot drink and was told I can only sit on two tables next to the door , when the whole restaurant was empty, I asked jokingly what do I need to order to sit at a normal.table and I was told a meal ! What at 4pm , Train these morons on customer service , 2 customers now lost and will not be returning.

If you love ice cream and you are in Brighton or Hove then you must visit Marrocco's. Great choice of ice cream and sorbets.

We've been coming here since finding it by accident in 2002. Initially visited for ice creams, came back for a meal later & have never looked back.

This is one of the best family-run restaurants I dined at in Brighton. The food is so delicious and reasonably priced. We tried Risotto Marinara whereby we have to echoed another round! There were 3 king prawns with lots of mussels, clams, squids… and the sauce blended well into the risotto! Tagliatelle al salmon was creamy and so nice! Sea bass perfectly grilled. The whole crab spaghetti was stunning. Just that if the hard crab shell could be further chopped into smaller pieces to save our effort enjoying the crab, that would be brilliant! We finished the meal off with their award winning gelato, and affogato! Everything is down to earth, family feel! Just to note seafood platter needs to pre order two days ahead. The food was so delicious that in our 4-day holiday trip to Brighton, we went there twice!!! First time on dinner and then head back for lunch before we left for home! Thank you to family Marrocco’s!! This restaurant is a must go while you are in Brighton.

I ordered the coffee ice cream, but the texture wasn't really gelato-like. It was quite sweet and I couldn't taste much coffee flavor🥲. However, the portion size was pretty good for around £3.

usually only come for the ice cream (which is great) but we got takeout pizza today. £30 for two and they were the worst pizzas we’ve even eaten. the base was like tissue paper, the toppings slid off because it was so watery. i ordered a pizza with broccoli and it was spinach. soggy mess and really not good.

For 2 years I've been waiting for a moment where the queue wasn't down the road where I could try an ice-cream. Needless to say, with already high expectations . . . I wasn't disappointed. Just hope it's not another 2 years before getting another one. Today, picked up a tub of their mint choc chip having cycled from London to Brighton. Normally I wouldn't pay £14 for a tub of ice-cream but having cycled 57miles, it was my treat

This restaurant used to be a decent place to eat. It has gone downhill for a while and we have decided never again due to clueless waitress and a rude manager. We had to wait for a table despite booking. The main arrived before the starter. The oysters were so thin, they looked like chicken skin! Pizzas are shrunken in size and the coke is from the tap, not bottle, and the glass is packed with ice instead. Ruined dinner experience.

Had an unforgettable evening at Marrocco's! The risotto was hands down the best I’ve ever had! Creamy, perfectly balanced, and bursting with flavor. The crab spaghetti was equally delicious, with fresh, tender crab in every bite. We paired it with a lovely glass of wine, which made the whole experience even better. And don’t get me started on the ice cream,it was the perfect sweet ending to an incredible meal. Highly recommend for anyone looking to treat themselves to an amazing meal and wine!

The most delicious i had after long time especially Snickers flavour. Really friendly staff. Even i couldn’t get ice cream pic from my side so i requested to the girl if she can make it for my google reviews and she made it happily. There was a long queue for the incredible ice Cream but worth queuing. I would definitely recommend.

Great food, quality, authenticity and variety. Best ice cream in town. The seating is tight and can be uncomfortable specially towards the end of the meal. Paper cups for good Italian ice cream should be for take away only not for serving in restaurant. Great meal. Grazie millie

Love this institution. Ice cream hand made downstairs on site by Peter using ingredients imported direct from Italy. The almond and cherry is my absolute favourite. The kids love the biscoff sundae. Love getting pizza to go on the beach and have heard amazing things about the lobster pasta!

Only popped in for takeaway soya latte, the food, ice cream obviously is good, however I was charged £4,10 for a standard size, in a paper cup, soya latte, £3.60 for a regular SL + .50p for soya, thinks 🤭 a carton of soya @ LIDL is £1, the young boy serving wasn't particularly welcoming either, I asked if they were a doggie friendly restaurant and he didn't understand what I meant ! Not too impressed I tell ya !

One of the most incredible selections of ice cream flavours in the area. Must go destination if visiting Hove!

The portions in this restaurant are very small so one has to order sides in order to have enough to eat. This makes the bill very steep for what you are actually getting. I therefore wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

Authentic Italian. Don't be scared by the queue that is solely for Ice Cream. Great Pizza Amazing story behind the place. Family run establishment that refused to sell to property developers. Showing the hard work and grit of immigrants looking to make a prosperous life for themselves in England. It is a shame that the next generation are not going from table to table greeting guests. Still as charming and you can feel the authentic Italian Family run restaurant at it's very core. Great Restaurant.

Although known for its ice creams the Italian food is Great as befits a long time ownership by an Italian family ,give it a try you'll be surprised !! X

We only come for the ice cream, but it’s always worth the walk

Popped in at the end of a very hot day. Delicious ice cream options - I went for Reece's Pieces! Unfortunately, the ice-cream was very soft, which required furious licking!! One of our party got completely covered in dripped mint choc chip... luckily there were toilets for her to wash her hands 👍

We’ve just jumped in and had a lawful experience. The waiter never came to us to order. So we walked to ask him to come to order. Another lady was after me, but the waiter went to her first and he didn't come to us after the lady. He has ignored us. He has discriminated against us. It's not accepted. Very disappointed.

Amazing ice-cream! Honestly so worth the money, you do get what you pay for! Highly recommend, very popular in summer time. Last time I visit there was a queue for icecream going down the road, but they work very fast so wasn't too long a wait. Eaten there a couple of times, liked the pizzas but it's very expensive - a family of 4 can expect to spend at least £100 easily. Staff are very nice but they did make a couple of mistakes with the food/ dessert. The price is the downfall, which is why it has lost a star.

The most delicious pizzas and good vibe. Really friendly staff. Our waiter Alec couldn't have been more helpful. Be warned..... There is always a long queue outside for the incredible Italian ice Cream!! Worth queuing for!! I would definitely go back!

Very popular gelato parlour and Italien restaurant. During hot and sunny summer days the queue can be very long so come early. There are about 12 flavours so should have something for everyone. Lotus biscoff was very nice but the pistachio which has a 50p surcharge was not as good as expected.
