Pizza 500 in Brighton and Hove

Edited my original review as I've now eaten here multiple times. The food here just keeps delivering amazing taste and quality EVERY TIME. Staff are bloody lovely, helpful and knowledgeable about menu items. All very very fairly priced. Generous toppings. Beer garden. All set in an Italian garage. Highly recommend! You'll regret missing this hidden gem

Pizza 500 has quickly become one of my favourite spots in Brighton. Quirky, so authentic, so Italian, friendly and yummy! The pizzas are made by hand - and you can sense the quality. Leo, operating this pizzeria with his 2 sons and his adorable mum, make me happy every time I eat there. “Pizza Marco” is my favourite choice of pizza. Oh, and the prices are very reasonable!

Heavenly pizza, super tasty and traditional the best pizza in Brighton! Highly recommend dining in, the staff are so friendly and attentive. We will be back to try the homemade gelato and for more pizza!

‘True traditional humble Italian experience.’ When you visit Pizza 500, you have to imagine you went to a local pizzeria in Calabria, Italy! Next to Sicily. You are served with local rules of Italian traditional dining. That is the truth about experiencing different cuisines! Pizza 500 is truly a family business, when upon entering you are greeted & seated by Valentina, Owner’s son, and served delicious 100% homemade pizzas by Dad/chef Leo and if that is not enough & you are already full, the grandmother makes homemade ancient recipe of heavenly slice of Tiramisu. I’ve never been to Italy before, but today I can tell Italians are best known for their loving & memorable hospitality. Thank you Pizza 500 Family X

Unusually quiet the night we visited, but still had a lovely evening - very authentic flavours in well-priced dishes at a restaurant staffed by Italians .

Quirky little restaurant with lots of Fiat pictures around. Great service and delicious food. Happy my brother knew this place as it could easily be passed by otherwise. The only photo I took was of his drink. Although I wasn't keen on it, he loved it, stating it's apparently the Italian equivalent of Dr. Pepper! Just be careful of the step in and out of the restaurant as not easily visible or expected in the dark/ evening... and I was sober. Hahaha

Been going for years. Went on Sat night, whilst obviously very busy with takeaway orders (helmeted delivery drivers lumbering about) wasn’t full of dine-ins and a bit disappointed to be right by the door (I have no doubt rectifiable) but it’s a loading bay joint and that’s the vibe. Chef baulked at daughter’s request for Parmesan on pizza but taken in spirt ,and stated on menu. Pizzas were outstanding, super fresh and tasty ,and the house red in plastic glasses fine. Service good but waiters seemed a little nervous, maybe new. All in all, good so long as you know you’re in a drafty ex Italian garage (Lamborghini visible in Stafford’s yard opposite) and definitely not your (dull) chain pizza joint We enjoyed in the summer where there is a snug back seating area and I’ll come again in the winter, but family less keen on rustic atmosphere at this time of year though. Food excellent 5. Would give 4.5 for atmos and service if allowed by app.

Fabulous, tasty authentic pizza. Eat in or take away, very good value, cheaper than the mass produced chains. Good fresh produce used in toppings and cooked in proper pizza ovens.

Amazing family run pizzeria with daily specials. Have been here several times with my family and it doesn't disappoint. This time I tried the coconut cake and some gelato for pudding, just divine. Our go to place when visiting kids at uni. Also love the pear juice 😋

We fell out of Brighton pride Preston park late on Sunday night and starving, met by Laurence the host with THE MOST!!!! Laurence brought the chef/Owner to our table who is as handsome as he is talented and passionate about the food he serves…. The next two hours that followed were full of laughter, love and the best authentic Italian food we have tasted in the UK!!!! We were treated to a truly unique and fantastic experience, left feeling love for all who make the place so special…. Thank you for the highlight of our trip….. cannot recommend highly enough.

Ducked into Pizza 500 during Brighton Pride this year and was pleasantly surprised. Absolutely worth seeking out - the atmosphere is authentic, food and drinks and service are great!

I can honestly say what a find this place is and I am never ever going to Brighton without visiting here. We were lucky to just happen across it. Very fortunate for us.

A hidden gem!!! A must!!!! The most authentic first class pizzas restaurant I have visited in over 5 years in Brighton!!!. Great value for money without comprising the excellent quality of ingredients. The restaurant becomes your home with genuine warm hospitality. You won't want to leave. I didn't. I have no doubt recommending for any occasion.

We chanced upon this as we were in Preston Park for a concert and it was pouring. The restaurant had an open front which they shut as soon as they realised that the rain was torrential. We had the veggie parmagjna, pizzas and pasta dishes. We all agreed that it was some of the best food we'd had for a long time. Service was great as well

An absolutely amazing pizza place which made me think I'm back to Italy on a warm spring evening. We ordered 4 pizzas and each was delicious, my personal favorite is Granducato with Porcini mushrooms! We followed dinner with possibly the best gelato one can get in the UK. Absolutely love this place and setting. Please keep up the amazing work!

Best pizza in Brighton! So authentic.

Ever since pinocchio's closed I have been looking for a good quality Italian pizza place. I had all but given up hope... Until now. I ordered on delivery the classic egg and spinach pizza which is so hard to master but they have done so perfectly. Even on delivery the pizza was crisp, made with love and exceptionally good quality. Still nice and hot on arrival! Worth more than its weight in gold and I aim to try and dine in at some point because of how good the quality is.

Best pizza around :) the homemade sausage is so tasty, its fairly priced and the pizzas are bug. The tiramasiu is delicious as well!

As any other Italian in the World, I am very fussy about Italian food, especially when abroad, what to say about Pizza 500?... straight answer: it was the best pizza I've ever had, Italian territory included, simply unforgettable. The staff was friendly and for few hours we really felt we are back in Italy, we were planning to try few different places in Brighton, but at the end we could not resist and we have dinner there for three nights in a row. I am already planning my next trip to Brighton only to go back there for Dinner.

We have ordered a take away via uber eats and for the second time have been disappointed. This time they forgot half our delivery, which we asked the delivery driver about and he told us to call Pizza 500, we called pizza 500 and they took about 20mins to understand what we were trying to say and then told us it wasn't their problem, to call Uber eats. Uber eats have no contact number. The first time the pizza topping was completely fallen off the base, we phoned pizza 500 and they told us in no uncertain terms that it wasn't their problem and to speak to uber eats (which we accepted, gave them the benefit of the doubt). We won't be ordering pizza 500 again. Terrible customer service.

I ordered a take away, it was such a small portion,wasn't big enough for a child let alone an adult. The standard plastic tub wasn't even half full with less than a tablespoon of ragu sauce! I kid you not!

Visited this place multiple times and will visit them many times more. The best service and food on a consistent basis with amazing gelato and authentic Italian limoncello, topped off with wonderful atmosphere and a cute little outside area in the summer. Really feels like a little piece of Italy has been taken and placed for us to enjoy in Brighton. My favourite in the city and possibly even in the country (so far)

So we ordered 4 pizzas and we can't even tell which one is which. I'd be embarrassed to call this my restaurant. One pizza came with olives on just one slice, the olives had pits in them, mate, you couldn't cook a pizza for sh*t

This used to be such a great local restaurant. 40 minutes to make one margarita :( not super busy, disorganised. Mostly disappointing that the guy didn’t even try and apologise, just made excuses.

Really loved this place, been a couple of times now, but this time it was the best. Busy, but the starter (Octopus fishcakes) and Pizza (Italiano) certainly made up for that. Followed by some lovely ice cream. Would definitely recommend but booking is a must.

Hablamos con claridad y señalamos los elementos del menú y aún así se equivocan. La comida tarda años en llegar. El sábado, con solo otras 7 personas en el lugar, demoró más de 45 minutos para que llegara nuestro pedido equivocado. Muchos conductores de comida para llevar recogidos mientras esperábamos. En un momento tuve ganas de llamar a Delivero y pedirles que entregaran a la mesa junto a la puerta.

I have been visiting this restaurant since 2015 and have always been very impressed by the friendly vibrant atmosphere and good value for money. I have taken friends there and recommended it on many occasions. Although i have not been there for a few months I visited last week with my husband looking forward to yet another enjoyable meal. I do hope that our experience was a one off disappointing meal, although sadly i am not looking to return soon. Has the ownership changed? is there a problem with staff recruitment? My white wine was warm rather than chilled( although my husbands lager was beautifully chilled). My main course although clearly ordered and checked was the incorrect order when it arrived (the waitress left the plate on my table and left so quickly before i could tell her it was wrong, and i had to follow her with my plate to tell her about the error). My husbands order of carbonara which has always previously been so good was defiantly below par and he had almost eaten his meal before my revised main course arrived. Sadly we decided not to have a dessert, which we usually do. I am so sorry to write a negative report and to have to take this venue off of our list of our best places to eat. We have had some lovely meals here previously.

Lovely garden to eat our pizza - we had a great time! The chocolate ice cream was amazing!!! My children loved the pizza and I for me it made me feel like I was back in NYC on Mulberry Street. The vibe is so right.

I cannot say if the pizza is good as when we arrived the pizzeria was almost empty and a young waiter treated us like we were annoying her to be there offering us a small table at the last corner of the restaurant. I ask her if we could change sit and she said " no because it can be full soon"... so we left.

Very disappointing. My friend and I waited nearly 35 minutes on a Thursday evening when there were no more than 7-8 people in the restaurant. The chef was having a laugh with his mates that had walked in rather than cooking the pizzas which was quite visible to our frustration. At long last the pizzas arrived which were totally over cooked, dry, rock hard crusts and burned underneath. I mentioned this to the young waiting staff who couldn’t care less. The quality of pizza places in Brighton is now very high with the new pizzerias in town opening up so avoid this one.

Service abysmal mainly because someone was being "trained up" so the staff studiously ignored our pleas to order and the chefs were having an off night or go slow. When they arrived ! the pizza's were OK

I travel to Roma alot and know the true local Italian foods and how its cooked. The foods and ambience is the restaurant took me back to Roma, even through some of the staff are from Toscana lol.

Visited here night before Brighton Marathon to fill up on pasta. Great staff & service but pasta not great, so maybe here is a good place for pizza only.

Pizzas were yummy, but the service was very confusing and quite slow. We waited for about 20-30 min to get our drinks, while starters arrived after the pizzas. The room was also a strong smell of smoke in the room, but I guess it could happen.

We have been here several times as the food is so good, but the service is chaotic. We waited 20 minutes to place our order and were asked for some reason, if we wanted the starters and the main course at the same time. We said no. The starters first. In spite of that one main course came with the starters and then we waited over 40 minutes for the other two mains. A Deliveroo rider came in and was served promptly. We were almost considering placing an order with them for table 5

Oh my god! worst pizza I've had in a long time, maybe ever. Had the Calzone Piccante to start and a Calabrese pizza to take away.

One of the appeals is the closeness to Preston Park. Equally it is good to go somewhere with no pretensions. And there are none here; you are squeezed in on plastic chairs and become friends with the other guests whether you like it or not.
