We visited the cafe as a surprise birthday treat for my daughter who loves Sanrio. The cafe is split into two levels - a shop downstairs and a cafe upstairs. How on earth can someone charge £10 for a dessert which even my children did not finish is beyond my understanding. The ice cream is probably worst than the one you get in the street. The biscuits and decorations were hard. My daughter spilled her boba tea accidentally and even though the staff saw it, they did not offer a refill. The staff has a rather not-bothered, not-being there attitude and would not do anything over what is basic service. The deserts were all terrible, The staff were abrupt and stressed in their tone. And you end up spending a fortune in their shop. At least serve decent ice cream if you are going to con people. I feel sorry for parents like me who travel miles for the experience - which was well below par.

I visited the cafe with my husband at the weekend. We hadn't know it was there before we arrived in Brighton, so we hadn't got a booking and bought we would probably not be able to get a table as a result. However, we spoke to the lovely V who was able to get us seated in 20 minutes - a huge thank our to V for their friendliness and service, we really appreciated it!! Once we had our table, we both ordered food and it absolutely met our expectations! So so cute and yummy. We also really liked that the menu had lots of consideration for allergies and dietary requirements. Our food was brought to us by Ji-Hyun, who was also really lovely. Staff did a great job and provided high quality service. We would visit again.

Such a wonderful experience! The bagel and burger were tasty and looked very cute; everything is perfectly in theme and we loved seeing all the characters in the decor. Staff was very friendly and nice, we loved it!

We went here for my friends birthday as she loves hello Kitty. The cafe was done out perfectly with hello Kitty everywhere. The staff were lovely and very helpful and the desserts were very yummy .

The service was very friendly and the food quick to arrive. Food and drink was priced well - £2 for a lemonade rather than £3.50-4 at other places. The Hello Kitty theme is done so well. We will have to return!

The cafe looks great! The merchandise is expensive as you’d expect and you have to walk through it to get to the seated cafe upstairs. Firstly the staff and service - wouldn’t hurt if they could crack a smile. Waiting at the bottom of the stairs where we got told and two other families got greeted and sent in before us, not even an acknowledgment, very strange. A few minutes later another family were seated very close to us even though the place wasn’t empty who had their children screaming/crying and jumping around trying to “fight” the hello kitty statue etc making our dining experience with our son who has additional needs very stressful. Again we were last to have our orders taken even after other people who arrived after us and therefore our drinks and food took a while to arrive. The staff were pretty blunt and seemed like they didn’t want to be there. As our waitress took our order she was speaking on her headset the whole time “I’m finishing an order” she kept repeating when we hadn’t even started. Food - this is amazing! And everything we expected and more. You truly only need one plate of waffles between two they’re huge! All the details on the food was lovely and really made it feel like a treat. Extras - would be lovely to have more for children such as colouring paper, better toilet facilities and maybe a keepsake even if just a sticker for the children.

Were spectacular experience every time I've gone here with my partner and it changes every couple of years and it's always tasty food, fantastic staff and a welcomeing wonderful atmosphere. The artbox cafe always knocks out the park

Lovely place, our kids really enjoyed it and so did we (mum and dad). What I particularly liked was that the strawberry and also chocolate waffles our kids had weren’t overly sweet (in fact not sweet at all).

We visited Brighton for this cafe specifically and ordered the pompompurin burger, strawberry my melody waffle, and kuromi brownie sundae as well as a chai and matcha latte. We arrived early, waited only a short while for our table, and browsed the items in their small shop downstairs. It can get a bit cramped since it's only small and there's no separate space to wait, only in front of the stairs so you can feel a bit in the way of other customers. The cafe itself is also not as big as I had thought but cutely decorated. The veggie burger was definitely the best, so tasty we wish we had ordered two! The strawberry waffle was far too sweet for us unfortunately and so was the accompanying sorbet/icecream so would avoid unless you have a strong sweet tooth, the biscoff was delicious though. The brownies in the kuromi sundae were rock solid, so much that we couldn't even break them up with cutlery. We didn't finish either of the desserts. The lattes were okay, it would have been nice to have been offered sugar. We asked if we could get a side of fries but unfortunately, they are only able to serve meals as per the menu. The fries that came with the burger turned out undercooked anyway. The staff were so lovely, our server in particular was very friendly and gave us a choice between 2 different coloured coasters (green & pink). While we were waiting for our food we took lots of pictures around the cafe as it was mostly empty, our server even took some for us and instructed us with cute poses! Overall, it was worth the visit as the dishes were so well presented and the friendly and welcoming staff really made our visit. I wouldn't get the same desserts again, but would love to go back and try more of their savoury dishes and am excited for their next theme.

Absolutely brilliant, food delicious and lovely staff the colours and the decor super! The curry a little tiny bit spicy if your ordering for tiny ones. Everything divine.

This was our 2nd visit having been back in December and feeling very underwhelmed by the interactions from staff, just after Xmas they could have asked “ did you have a good Xmas? What’s your favourite hello kitty character?”I did email in and received this reply Due the nature of our business, we try to give our guests space and time to enjoy their stay in our cafe, as we have quite the diverse clientele and we want to ensure that everyone has a fair and happy visit. We are sad to understand that your experience didn't meet your expectations, and we're sorry you were disheartened by it. We hope you enjoyed the food and the drinks, we hope to see you in the future to give us a chance to turn a disappointing experience into a good one Well we went yesterday and it’s worse! Dirty staircase needs a deep clean, no milkshakes available! No ice cream sundae available! Disappointing and lack of planning to say the least! With a 1 hour booking not being given the food for 37minutes does not give you time to relax and enjoy the food, 23mins isn’t enough time felt rushed as the staff want to give you the bill and clear the table. Did say this and was told - I will tell the Manager. Staff serve the food but no Hello Kitty comments, interaction. You get a free coaster with every drink - it’s written in the menu, but staff just put them on the table with no comment. There is a choice of 5 designs but poor stocktaking (like the ice cream) meant only 2 designs available. The place needs a deep clean and more really happy bubbly staff that interact more. The food needs to be served promptly so you aren’t rushed and have time to enjoy. Beyond disappointing experience.

We visited Brighton specifically to bring our Hello Kitty loving daughter to the cafe as a surprise and we weren't disappointed. The food was great, presentation is adorable and we couldn't fault the service. As my daughter is a wheelchair user we had to be seated downstairs in the shop area rather than in the usual dining space but we didn't feel crowded at all. The shop has a great range of items to suit all budgets as well. The staff who work there are fantastic and my daughter had such an amazing time that she thanked us repeatedly afterwards for taking her. Thank you so much to all of the team for putting such a big smile on our daughters face!

Barley any food and the food they did have was completely sold out. On top of this we were greeted with a very rude lady downstairs who we also overheard talking poorly about the manager and other staff which was very uncomfortable to be around. However the hot chocolate was very nice and the bubble tea was also very tasty.

So much fun for my Hello Kitty and Kuromi loving kids. They love it and it’s part of the reason we travelled to Brighton and stayed in a hotel. fabulous friendly service from lovely staff. Thanks for having us.

Must be booked in advance as always booked up. We booked 2 months in advance so we knew we could get in. Arrived and after a short wait taken up to our seats. Everything was decorated Hello Kitty around the walls, table mats, coasters and with flowers on the tables. We ordered waffles, tea and hot chocolate. Very well presented (see photos). Delicious but they did beat us, we couldn’t eat it all! Only downside is that you only have an hour slot so you wouldn’t have time if you wanted to order both savoury food and dessert. Generally you’d go for one or the other and not expect a full meal. Lovely place and I thought it was very reasonably priced.

We visited for my daughter’s 11th birthday. She is crazy about all things Sanrio and loves the artbox shop in London where we live. We loved that numbers were kept small in the cafe and it was so beautifully set out, a real spectacle when you walk in. We were all really pleased to be seated as close to our time as possible. The food was good size portions and tasty if not spectacular, and we liked that it was all vegetarian and almost all items had vegan options too. We were less keen on the 1hr table time limit, which for the price you are paying feels a bit rushed a spoils the experience. Also it doesn’t work if you’re last to be served (as we were) and have problems with your dishes (found a hair in one dessert so had to send it back). We then ran out of time to finish our desserts and had to scoop them into boxes and leave! Staff were super friendly but felt more fuss could have been made of birthday girl and the miserable guy in the ice cream bar downstairs wasn’t the best greeting! The children enjoyed it which was the main thing but I wouldn’t rush back. If I did, probably just an ice cream!

We went inside, it was busy as it is half term and it was a sunny day. We waited a bit by the stairs, nobody said something. I asked my husband to check upstairs with my daughter to see if there was any empty table, as I saw people going upstairs. As they started going, one of the girls told them that they were fully booked. They were starting to get out of the stairs when the other one pointed to a sign and said rudely: “that’s why we put this, so people can read it!”. I was stunned. Their stuff might be cute, but staff… oh my god…

My friend cancelled last minute so I went alone & so glad l did Tori who served me made my experience so enjoyable she was welcoming & friendly told me that the coffee was really good so l ordered a cappuccino & it was the best l'd ever had she made me feel relaxed & took her time to have conversation with me when leaving she offered to take a photo of me with Hello Kitty which I'm so happy she did as now I can show my friends & recommend. I had the avocado on toast which was lovely very well presented & overall the cafe I thought was cute. I didn't notice an option to leave a tip as I paid by card & didn't have cash & I really wanted to as Tori deserved to be recognised for her service I won't forget & will be visiting with a friend again soon.

Traveled down from Manchester just to visit here was not disappointed. Even my non hello kitty obsessed boyfriend had a great time. Excellent food and really friendly staff.

First time going to the Artbox Cafe and I was concerned the food would be for the aesthetics only but to my surprise it was good! The Hello Kitty curry was flavourful, sweet and slightly spicy although the rice was advertised as 'sticky' and was dry instead. The avocado toast was seasoned and tasty but the side salad was very simple and a bit bland. The staff were super friendly and made you feel welcome and comfortable. You're seated in waves at specific times with other customers and because of this I did find it was missing a cosy atmosphere. Overall, I look forward to going again and trying something new! :)

This cafe is the cutest you'll ever find. Food was delicious and generous. The staff were really nice as well. We really loved our time there and will go again for sure every time we visit Brighton 💖

Wow well what can I say we traveled down from London to experience this . A lovely colourful cafe that’s any Sanrio fans dream. It’s got a takeaway service downstairs with an array of drinks and ice creams to go also a big selection of merch and the cafe upstairs . So I had the pleasure of coming here twice once on the 14th February which the cafe was fully booked due to half term so we opted for some ice cream and drinks to take away. They offered a good selection including some specials due to it being Valentine’s Day. So we booked to go upstairs to the cafe for the following week the 19th February. We arrived and waited downstairs my children purchased some gifts from their shop that sells Sanrio merch as we was early for our table. At 3.25 they promptly came to get us we left our buggy downstairs where we was taken upstairs to a lovely table by the window and the friendly lady got us a high chair. The food was amazing literally 10/10 for presentation and for taste . The selection was brilliant and they cater for vegetarian and vegans. The decor was very sweet all Sanrio characters with lovely colours and paintings. Staff were friendly and professional and helpful. We had the hello kitty curry was absolutely amazing on tase and presented beautifully. Also 2 pompon burgers which were presented amazingly with chips and salad that came in a basket. Then we had the cinimoreroll pancakes and an ice cream I can’t remember what it was but was very well presented. The drinks were also very tasty and served to high standards with lovely details. We had a bubble tea. A hot chicken and a strawberry type drink. Honestly it’s a lovely little cafe but recommend booking as it’s quite small and cosy and extremely popular places go quick. But definitely recommend and would love to go back again one day.

Went to the cafe today for my nieces birthday. I don’t normally write reviews but I felt compelled. The service was great but the food was very poor. The chips were cold as were the burgers. Some of the ice cream dessert was inedible. It looks great but definitely under delivers on the food.

The staff was friendly and helpful but when we arrived we had to wait for about 15-20 minutes for a table . The food wasn't bad but wasn't the best . The mix and match ice cream was a little too sweet and hard for the texture.However,I enjoyed the my melody flowerberry waffles as the syrup and the waffles made a great pair . Although there were some parts that I didn't like , the mango popping boba was definitely not one of them. I would recommend you to book before going as i could be a long wait .

We visited today and had a fantastic experience. They made an extra fuss with my daughter being 16, and she loved it. We all did. We only had the dessert, but what we did have we thoroughly enjoyed. We drove from South Wales, and it didn't disappoint. Thank you.

Took my partner to this cute and fun café for a date. It was great, I loved the creative food and bright happy decor. The staff were very friendly and welcoming! Amazing attention to character detail with the food and aesthetically pleasing venue for my Sanrio kuromi obsessed 11 year old daughter. Be sure to book if you want a table, we went in summer holidays so very busy, deposit to secure a table is refunded on food bill. A must for any Sanrio fan.

Looks good but when you're paying a tenner a head you expect better. Daughter 1's dessert was served to her a full 10 minutes before ours which ruined the experience for me. The quality of the food was not great either. Shop bought pancake with a layer of rolling icing ..not great. Daughter's ice cream full of ice crystals. Go for the decor but don't expect much from the food.

My autistic daughter saw this online and asked to go. She rarely leaves the house so we planned a trip. On arrival, the "welcome" was anything but. Unfriendly, uncooperative and dismissive. So much so that we left. A real shame.

Myself and my 10yr old daughter are huge San riro and hello kitty fans, so we had to visit. Time slots for sitting down to eat go fast so book in advance. The food was very tasty and the cafe upstairs has a great feel to it. The only reason I've not given 5 stars is that the main dish and dessert I wanted were both out of stock and that left us with quite a limited choice. Also the music needed turning up as it was quite quiet in there. The staff worked hard and were friendly. You can also get drinks and ice cream from the shop down stairs. We'll definitely be back.

Positives: Fun place for a Sanrio fan family. Food was fine and excellently presented. Prices were acceptable, the veggie burger was actually delicious. There are baby changing facilities. Negatives: Had to ask for spoon for curry and spoons for the ice cream dessert and for complimentary coaster. Session is a little short for a larger group, we felt a bit rushed, considering the amount of money we spent there, but I was aware it was only for an hour and the staff didn’t rush us out. Toilet wasn’t that clean (cleaning cloth left on the toilet cistern) and hand drier didn’t work, there was a sign stating this but there was also nothing to dry to dry your hands. I’m assuming that the staff are on minimum wage as they aren’t exactly enthusiastic. 😅

Honest review from someone in a wheelchair - ( summary lovely staff and overall good experience but an slight issue ) I love this cafe so so much Iv been a few times before I became a wheelchair user and I definitely go here for the lovely Sanrio experience and in general it’s a good treat to go here although I think the food is a bit overpriced and overcooked. I accidentally put the wrong booking date but as I’m disabled the lovely staff still let me eat and even took care of my bags when I needed to go over the road to go to an accessible bathroom 😊😊 However at the end one server came over to me and my carer/family member at the end and even though over staff said I can have the 10 quid refund as I made a genuine mistake but she made an extremely big point how this is not what they do and she will let us off and the general conversation was as if we owed her/this café something due to the way it was put across - it felt very disappointing and left my carer feeling disappointed aswell as it took alot to even get me there that day and although it didn’t spoil the day it was a shame since the other staff are so so so sweet.

Really hoped to grab a table here but it was booked solid and walk-ins were booked up too. That's not the reason for the poor review, though. The products on sale in the shop area are ridiculously pricey and while the ice cream was OK, the £4.30 "mocktail" I ordered was frankly horrible, very sweet and sickly even despite the recommended "vigorous stirring". We thought this was a "must do" with our kids but it was expesnsive and disappointing.

As someone who LOVES Hello Kitty and Friends this was a must go. The food was very adorable and espacially the desserts tasted amazing. Cutest date me and my boyfriend ever went on. Favoriete place in brighton to have a quick lunch, snack or breakfast!

Visited here for lunch in January with a friend. We are both big Hello Kitty fans so were super excited and were not disappointed. You had to pay a small deposit to book your table. Unfortunately, my friend was ill on our booked date but staff were super accomodating at letting us move the booking. We had previously visited for Pusheen cafe and I personally preferred the food (I went for the curry) this time. It's super cute and aesthetically pleasing but it was also enjoyable to eat.
