Went to Sushi Garden for the first time and I'm so impressed with how authentic the place feels. Very warm and friendly staff. They accomodated our requests to the best of their abilities and the food was just divine. Coming from an Asian country with an abundance of authentic Japanese food, not a lot of places come close but this place certainly delivered. Must try- rolling in the sushi

We had the udon set and the Katsu set and it was amazing. The katsu set included katsu chicken and a delicious curry sauce and miso soup as well as sticky rice and pickles. The customer service was excellent and overall a great place to eat.

The restaurant is clean and the food is delicious. Pork cutlet is crispy and sushi is fresh. I want to visit again. It was more delicious than the sushi I ate in Japan.

“London London” and “Creamy Salmon” two of the best sushis I have ever EVER ate in my life. The staff was so lovely and kind! I will definitely be coming here again.

Delicious japanese food. I recommend the small plates and starters but mostly the sashimi. The fish is always fresh and incredibly good.

The waiters were very polite and provide a quick service. The food was full of flavour and well worth the price. The interior of the restaurant was well presented and the music being played really tied the whole place together to provide a cozy and relaxing atmosphere.

Simple place yet serves great food!

Best sushi place in Brighton. Quality food with a good variety on the menu, not the cheapest but you definitely get what you pay for. A nice quiet environment to spend the evening with your partner, enjoying great food with amazing service. Puts to shame most other sushi joints in Brighton.

We had both starters and sushi! It was amazing! Definitely come again. I really like the raw octopus with wasabi.

Wonderful chicken katsu! Unfortunately we were a bit short on time so the visit got stressed as the food preparation took quite a while and we did inform the staff about our time limitations.

I was very impressed with this place. I know Japan well and have a lot of experience of authentic Japanese food. The interior design is very similar to places I have eaten in in Kyōto, Tōkyō and Fukuoka and the staff are Japanese. The service is polite, reserved and efficient (again like Japan) and the food is really excellent. I had two types of nigiri sushi (tuna and yellowtail), mixed tempura (superb and served with delicious tentsuyu), pickles and eel donburi. The kabayaki eels with caramelised tare were really delicious and perfectly cooked. There is also an impressive selection of sake, both regular and premiums (including junmai daiginjo sakes) too. If you know how Japanese food should be I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was absolutely delicious! We all loved it, and that says something because we all are quite picky eaters and these meals satisfied us with a plus. From the diversity in the bento to the little things like just mochi. We had the katsu bento, salmon Bento and lastly the chicken teriyaki. All the flavours were beautiful, so diverse and so delicious. Safe to say, that this is my favourite restaurant in the world so far. We’ve been to many countries, even more restaurants so we are Have taste and know what is good and what is not. So thank you so much for this experience for our tastebuds.

The service was prompt and both staff and chef were very polite and friendly. There was a big party going on when we arrived without reservations. After we were seated, the chef came to inform us orders may take up to 45 minutes as they are busy serving the party. We do not mind the wait and happy if they could serve us drinks and appetizers while we wait. They promptly did and mains did not take long too. Food is very good. Fish and seafood (sushi) was fresh. Presentation was simple. The broth of the udon was flavorful.

Stopped here when looking for something for tea on a Thursday evening when working away in Brighton. Walked past and as a big fan of Japanese cuisine I decided I'd try here. I wasn't disappointed. The menu had lots of variety and interesting things which I would have loved to try, but the work budget restricted me! I decided to go for some Spicy Tuna Maki sushi, some Chicken Gyōza and a fabulous Salmon Teriyaki (sorry no photo) , but if you get the chance opt for this dish. Nice vibe in the restaurant and a great Saki menu and Sapporo Beer give it a great Japanese feel. The decor is great and the staff really friendly and helpful. I've already recommended to my wife who is down here in a few weeks with her work. Will definitely come again

We were looking for an open restaurant after seeing a show, which is quite limited after 10pm. Sushi Garden was serving until 10:30 so we decided to give it a go. The staff were all really friendly and the food was freshly prepared and all tasted amazing! I would definitely recommend Sushi Garden to anyone looking for some tasty Sushi in Brighton.

Lovely friendly service, but I found the sushi to be on the dry side rice wise and 8 pieces for £23 was over priced.

Tasty food. Serves a selection of sushi and other Japanese style food. I was feeling adventurous and went for something from the specials menu. Friendly and unfussed service.

This used to be one of our favourite Japanese restaurants in Brighton, now, sadly it could be the worst. We ordered takeaway, 18 pieces of Sushi, which turned up tiny & badly prepared, the rice practically fell apart on the chop stick, very amateur. Not sure what has gone wrong, won’t be back.

This is by far one of the best Japanese restaurants in Brighton! New ones have popped up over the years, but the flavor is just as unique as they were years ago! Enjoy the friendly atmosphere, the great food, and a good time! I could not recommend it more!

I was one time and I came back with my friends. Delicious food, good service and nice place.

I was looking for a japnese restaurant that served Pork Katsudon and checked their menu via google maps and was disappointed to when we arrived that the did not have Pork Katsudon, they had Pork Katsu which is a very different dish. I ordered the pork katsu hoping my craving would be satisfied but I was still disappointed because the dish is dry despite the katsu sauce served with it. We ordered other dishes: Takoyaki, Chef's Teardrop (salmon lover roll), and Spider Roll. The Takoyaki was nothing special, it tasted like the frozen takoyaki we buy at asian supermarkets. The Chef's teardrop tasted wonderful as I am a salmon lover but I wish it had more rice and was bigger. The winning dish for me is the Spider Roll! The batter and seasoning of the soft shell crab was amazing! We are not locals and this is our first time dining here, and there is a small chance we will come back as they do not serve my favourite dish: Pork Katsudon. Service is amazing, food was served in good time and the staff are very friendly and professional. I loved the atmosphere and decors, felt authentically Japanese. They had spacious toilets for men and women with a baby changing area but not disabled friendly as it was downstairs.

Had a lovely early dinner at this lovely restaurant, a ginger cocktail to start followed by California roll and the prawn tempura was cooked to perfection compliments to the chef ! & all was so delicious and service was excellent. We will be back .

What can i say…. a welcoming friendly and amazing restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious, if you are planning to go try the Ika Mayo, one of my favourites. The service from the staff was exceptional and the food came really quickly and was fresh. Lots of choices for food, there is something for everyone. Couldn’t recommend it enough. I used to come here all the time when I lived in Brighton, I have been here twice in the last month, gladly making the 20mile trip to get here. The restaurant is very cosy, has a wonderful atmosphere, the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. I'm so in love with the food here, I love the traditional dishes like the sashimi, and I like their own creations, like the London London and the Brighton, it has an air of what the Japanese did when they settled in the United States, creating a fusion style that suited the tastes in that location. Anyone who appreciates good food with quality ingredients definitely give this restaurant a try, many thanks to all the staff for a wonderful evening as always 🍣🍤🍶🍜🍱 🇯🇵🙏

Amazing Sushi in Brighton! Excellent food 👍👍

We went early on a Friday night and the place was nearly empty. The food was all tasty and we enjoyed it. The service was friendly and helpful if a little tired. The food came punctually. As vegetarians we had most of the options available to us on the extensive menu which was fine for a first visit but is not very motivating for a return visit since we would just be repeating the same meal.

Delicious freshly made sushi. Teriyaki salmon was the best I’ve had in a long time. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

We have not visited a Japanese restaurant before so we’re a little apprehensive. However waiter was very helpful and pointed us to dishes on the menu. Very tasty fresh food made by the chef in front of customers. He personally greeted and thanked everyone when leaving. We had booked this as it was near to the hotel we were staying in. Well worth a visit.

Very good sushi rolls and yaki udon noodles. The ingredients are evidently of a very high quality and it shows - there's also a wide variety of options on the menu which we will come back to try! There is a cozy overall atmosphere and friendly service.

Me and my gf popped in for a last minute bite after a different restaurant (now closed) fell through. Walking in felt almost like I stepped into a Japanese restaurant in Japan, the only difference is that I was in the middle of Brighton. The sushi was fresh, there was clearly a sprinkling of love in the various dishes. We got a small selection, and honestly the price was decent and I was super satisfied. Unfortunately at the time the card machine was broken, but it was only a minor issue - I had cash but not enough for a delicious feast, so we had to make sure to spend just enough. I could have had more! The service was excellent, served in a timely manor but not too quick. I’ll definitely go back!

A Prebooked family of 7 I accept that we were a little late ( just under 15 minutes) but we did have the courtesy to telephone to warn them in advance That was about the last courtesy that was extended. No welcome when we arrived and almost grudgingly given menus. No waiter to take drinks order whist we looked at the menus so ultimate we ordered drinks and food at the same time (4 starters to share and 7 main courses). The drinks arrived after an acceptable delay The starters arrived one after the other with almost a ten minute delay between each of the 4!!! We then waited for our main courses 2 then arrived. They had almost been finished when the sushi chef behind the counter ( not a waiter) asked if we were waiting for further dishes ! One more dish arrived and was virtually finished before 3 more arrived with the final dish arriving 45 minutes after the first Meanwhile other diners who had ordered after us had been served with their food in one case each of 2 courses During our wait we asked 3 times what the problem was On the first occasion it was some 10 minutes after the first 2 main dishes had arrived and a dismissive “ sorry” another 10 minutes actually nearer 50 by the time the final dish arrived. No unsolicited apology whatsoever A grudging apology given when pointing out the huge delay problem and asking for an explanation I then asked for the bill The only thing to arrive promptly That evening I sent an email to the restaurant giving them an opportunity to explain what had gone wrong Silence Dining out with a family is a shred experience of food and service One without the other and the experience becomes a disappointment Oh by the way the food apart from the beef which was chewy fatty and full of gristle was acceptable

We have been regular customers for years eating in the restaurant and takeaway. Not any more! Tonight we ordered our usual Bento boxes. ( Now over £20 each) No more Tempura? We consider the bento box concept has been overlooked. . It’s a pity. After more than 10 years of regular purchases, we’ve just had our last. The box has been prepared with making it quick to assemble rather than the flavour within.

I visited for lunch with a friend . Much of our order was wrong . Firstly we asked for the "Set Lunch " , which is on the restaurant's website and was our primary reason for visiting . We also ordered 3 side dishes , Jasmin tea, a cold green tea soft drink and water . The water never came Hot green tea was served instead of the soft drink ( even though the waitress read back the order and I corrected her when she said green tea ) The " Lunch set " which we had ordered , when we enquired when the rest would arrive , we were told that they no longer offer the set lunch ( even though it is on their website ) - why wasn't that advised at time of ordering ? Only the main choice from " set " arrived . Had we known that we, would have ordered differently . We were told " the website needs updating " That doesn't help guests ! They should be made aware of changes . The prices also are very different from the website . For example the plain Veg Udon ( which is what I was served ) on the website is £8.50 , I was charged £11 . I'd ordered the spicy vegetable Udon noodles - No spice and very bland . When I pointed this out , I was offered chilli oil and a bottle of dried chill flakes . My friend's Pork Katsu was v bland and served with a strange dipping sauce More like a schnitzel with grated white cabbage and v bland rice , definitely not a Katsu - he's had loads . The side dishes , tempura soft shelled crab and the wakame salad were lovely , The cucumber salmon skin kimchi not so . The fish skin was "wangy" and like cardboard - fish skin needs to be crispy , the kimchi was over salted and burnt you tongue , through saltiness. I'd also like to point out , that I'd originally booked via the website . When I hadn't received confirmation by the day before , I rang . The person I spoke to didn't seem to understand / have an idea of what I was talking about . When we arrived , we were treated as walk-ins , which wasn't a problem , as there were only two other tables occupied . The waitress was very pleasant , however I don't know where the issues with our order happened / failed . This was the first time in over 8 years that I didn't leave a tip. I know how hard it can be in hospitality , but a tip is appreciation and acknowledgement . There were too many errors and lack of acknowledgement here. To sum up , if you want an East Asian meal in that area of Brighton , walk 2 mins down the road towards the sea to The China Garden , We visited two weeks before and had amazing food and service for the same price . No contest !

I come down from London to Brighton once a year and always visit this restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is really good and the staff are friendly and efficient.

This used to be our favourite sushi restaurant. We recommended it to friends. NOT ANYMORE. Tonight we first looked at the menu online and thought we’d go in to take away our favourite items — two nigiri bento boxes. Arriving in the restaurant we were told they “don’t do the bento box after 6.30” (we’ve only ever been for dinner and it was always available). In fact they didn’t do them at all. They are still on the website, which staff explained they hadn’t got round to updating. So beware - the website is out of date… All they could offer was their “new” bento box which had none of the variety (sushi, tempura, salads, etc) of the old ones and an increase of price from £14.50 to £21.50 — a 50% increase! The staff — including the chef—were rude as well. It was our favourite, but we’ll never go back.

My partner and her son has Pork Katsu curry and the taste and quality of the pork was excellent. I went Pork Teriyaki which was superb. Again the pork was amazing. Highly recommend here. The chicken dumplings for starters were really good too.

I am not a fan of Sushi but my friend of sashimi. Her meal was all raw ingredient prawn, salmon, tuna, squid, seafood with warm rice and sauce. A good portion. I had ramen with big pieces of chicken. Average price but no service charge...

I checked the menu to find a nice GF, veggie option and ordered rice with prawns. In description it didn't say that prawns were fried in flour. Quite disappointing for someone who doesn't order sushi and has an intolerance.

Awful experiences with their Uramaki. Salmon is not fresh, no presentation. No passion, no heart for their sushi. Maki can't even get the basic standard right. Rice vinegar proportion failed. Love this place! Friendly staff and beautifully presented sushi dishes. The snow cone and London London are definitely our favourites. Very indulgent and delectable.

Fue mi primer viaje después de estar encerrado durante la situación de Covid - 19 y lo visité con un amigo. La comida estaba bien, y los entrantes y las comidas principales eran muy diferentes. Elegimos 3 entrantes para compartir: un pollo crujiente caliente y 2 platos de sushi. Los entrantes fueron excepcionales y muy sabrosos, desafortunadamente la experiencia fue decepcionada por las comidas principales, un plato de río con pollo frito empanizado y otro con fideos, desafortunadamente ninguno cumplió nuestras expectativas. Las medidas de seguridad fueron buenas y ambos nos sentimos seguros de comer adentro y se siguieron todos los procedimientos correctos. El personal también fue muy atento y servicial, pero a distancia.

He estado viniendo aquí durante 3 años, el menú es excelente, el personal con una buena relación calidad-precio es muy útil. No me puedo quejar de la comida tan buena. Primer día disponible después de que se levantaron las restricciones de bloqueo, estábamos de regreso (en el cielo). El atún vino con pequeños trozos de arroz. Menos de un tercio de lo que obtienes en cajas cooperativas. La sopa de carne tenía más repollo que carne y fue a la basura. Realmente se sintió como si alguien quisiera cerrar la cocina y organizó nuestra entrega. Vea la caja con las huevas de pescado. Todo sobre un lecho de repollo rallado aguado. Very disappointed with the amount of food for the money. Ordered a sushi platter for £28 was not the quality or quantity expected. Some of the fish was very tough not happy with it overall will not be back.

We ordered 2 Bibimbap raw fish, Spider sushi & Miso soup. It was fresh, well presented & delicious. The food was good apart from the service was a bit slack - waitress was half awake.

Si eres un amante del sushi, este lugar es imprescindible. He probado casi todos los lugares de sushi en Brighton y este es el mejor con diferencia. Este restaurante japonés es muy acogedor y la decoración es excelente. Probé 6 platos diferentes y no podría decir cuál era el mejor, incluso una simple sopa de miso es deliciosa.En cuanto al dinero, es un poco caro y definitivamente es el restaurante japonés más caro de Brighton, pero una vez dicho esto, lo recomiendo mucho si te encanta el sushi de alta calidad.

A completely bland, tasteless, lukewarm main with a lot of non authentic ingredients overlain with ghastly random bursts of excessively strong chilli. The worst meal I have ever had in Brighton.

We had teriyaki chicken - delicious; bibimbap - lovely; and the vegetarian child (who is very picky) had cucumber maki (“good”); gyosa (“crispy and nice”) and some sort of crispy tofu in broth (“amazing”). The jasmine tea and green tea were also great. The atmosphere is relaxed and calm. The service was discreet and friendly.Price for the three of us to be utterly full was £40Can’t wait to return

Wagamama had a very long queue so decided to try here.A big mistake.Sweet enough staff but just total incompetence.Drinks did not arrive for a long time.Food arrived slowly and at different times.3 of us had finished our food and one hadn't received it at all so in the end we cancelled his dish.

Very disappointing ... unless you’re ok with miserable staff, slow service, shabby decor, unclean table, dirty floor - the menu appears fun especially sushi, but dont be fooled ... mostly smothered in cheap mayo and seafood sauce!!! Sickly and yuk! Tuna sashimi very grim ... chewy from where we sat, in the back part - we had the pleasure of a full view of inside of the bar, where all rubbish and leftovers were being disposed of in an open black sack placed in the middle - total breech of hygiene safety regs!!! We were also more or less underneath a dusty aircon! Never again! Highly not recommended!

Después de devorar los entrantes, nuestros platos principales llegaron a tiempo, ordenaron un tazón katsu udon mientras que mi amigo ordenó el set de bento c. Ambos de nuevo fueron súper deliciosos! El servicio fue increíble, nuestra camarera me ayudó a pagar la factura en su totalidad, por lo que mi amiga no pudo ver el total ya que quería tratarla. Vivo en Londres pero visito Brighton con bastante frecuencia. Cada vez que lo hago, como Sushi Garden. La comida es fantástica, el personal amable y el ambiente general es muy relajado y sencillo.

Excellent meal for 9 people. Catered well and quickly. Selection of food was excellent as well as quality. Would reccomend.
