Great place! I had a beef yaki udon and it was reeeally good - amazing flavours, super tasty and good size. The servers were polite and attentive.

The most Korean-style food in Brighton looks like it was made with great care! The service is all good, but the Korean male owner tends to be abrasive. Overall, it's all good.

If you are a Korean visiting Brighton, please do not visit this restaurant. This is unkindness itself. really. There are many Korean and Japanese restaurants in Brighton, so I recommend going elsewhere.

Tasty ramen, and my first time trying natto! The things I tried were a very reasonable price for the quality, and the atmosphere was great sitting outside on a sunny day. The ramen came with a spicy sauce on the side, which I very much recommend adding if you like a good kick! The pork was great too, wonderful texture. Great mix of Japanese and Korean deliciousness.

I went in by chance, and thought it was a Japanese restaurant, so I ordered sashimi, and I wanted something spicy, so I ordered stir-fried squid. As I was eating it, I felt like the chef was Korean, and the sashimi was soft... You get this kind of taste in the UK - good value for money. But it turned out that it was a place cooked and run by a Korean couple, and I enjoyed it very much. Highly recommended 👍

Having arrived spontaneously with three kids we played it safe with food options knowing there might be some fussiness. There were only two options on the kids menu (Sushi or katsu chicken and rice) and we sampled both. Kids weren’t disappointed. The kids chicken didn’t come with curry sauce so luckily I’d ordered katsu chicken curry for myself and I was able to give my child some curry sauce as the portion was plentiful. I think the kids drinks and desserts could have had more options as they were limited to either apple or orange juice and then a cornetto or ice lolly afterwards. We didn’t sample enough of the menu to really comment but the curry is good, roe sushi, pickles and octopus starters were all nice too. We had a 10% service charge added. Probably the most we’ve spent on eating out as a family but we did enjoy the atmosphere and the kids were made to feel welcome. Friendly service and attention to detail.

Had a great dinner at O’Shio , a cozy little spot that blends Japanese and Korean flavors really well. The sushi was super fresh – we tried the salmon nigiri and a spicy tuna roll, both beautifully presented and full of flavor. The real surprise was the Korean pancake (pajeon). Crispy on the outside, soft inside, and packed with green onions and seafood – it was one of the best I’ve had in a while. It came with a tasty dipping sauce that tied everything together. Service was friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Great for a casual night out or a quiet dinner. Highly recommended if you're craving sushi with a little something extra!

In general, a very pleasant institution. There is not much space inside, but the institution itself is very atmospheric. The tables are quite dense, for a maximum of 4 people. We were a large group of 8 people, it was a warm day, so we were offered to sit outside (they moved the tables and brought the required number of chairs). If you take the quality of the dishes and the taste, then I really liked everything. There was a desire to visit the institution again. I would like to point out that, before ordering, they asked me to split the order into two checks (it was more convenient because we were two families). But in the end, they brought us one check, in which 10% was also added for service, since the company was more than five people (the establishment was not aware of this feature, and the request for two checks at the beginning of the order was not due to the desire to save money), so the act of the establishment left a certain residue. It should also be taken into account that there is only one toilet in the institution, and if the institution is popular, then there is almost always a queue of about 3 people. But this in no way changes my opinion that the institution is worthy of attention and deserves a high rating. I recommend

Fantastic Korean and Japanese food - we ordered a mix of both cuisines as both starters and mains. Both arrived promptly and tasted amazing, the portions were very large. My partner could barely finish her katsu curry it was so big. All severs were incredibly nice from head chef to the youngest of waiters/waitresses. The price wasn’t bad either - two meals, two starters, two beers and a large bottle of sparkling water was just under 65 quid. The only downside is the size, it can be quite cramped and I feel like they would benefit with a slighter bigger dining area

This place has been a go to restaurant of me and my friends since I was introduced here in 2020. Food was always good, this place feels very homey and the restaurant staff is kind and accommodating. Usual orders are the yangneum chicken, soy garlic honey chicken, bulgogi, bibimbap and their ramen (better than the usual ramen chain in towns)

Fantastic restaurant on the periphery of Brighton's bustling centre. Given that's it's almost always fully booked, despite being outside the city centre, must mean it consistently receives positive reviews by word of mouth, and for good reason. The authentic food and homely atmosphere all add to an amazing dining experience, with inviting and engaged waiters and chefs who clearly know exactly what they're doing. My partner has numerous allergies, and is limited to only a handful of foods. O'Shio is the only restaurant we've found where cross-contamination does not happen, and she can happily eat sashimi (which is the best she's ever tasted!) and rice without fear of being ill afterwards. I can't thank the restaurant enough for that, else we would never be able to have meals together outside of home. On this occasion, we were a little late for our booking due to traffic through Brighton (of course...), but the manager kindly allowed us still to be seated, despite clearly being very busy. While my partner had the sashimi and rice, I had the kimchijeon and chicken udon (pictured below). Our previous visit was the first time I tried a kimchi pancake; now it's a staple of my order. Delicious! After a birthday trip for my partner to the Brighton Tattoo Convention, this was the perfect way to end the day. Thank you, and see you again very soon! ありがとうございます

Went there for the first time yesterday and the whole experience was great! The servers were lovely and even though it was full booked/ packed out we weren’t waiting long for our food. Food was amazing, can’t fault it at all. 100% returning in the future

Fantastic spot for Japanese and Korean food! O'Shio on Trafalgar Street is a gem in Brighton. The Takoyaki were absolutely delicious, crispy on the outside and soft inside, just perfect. The Yakisoba was spot on, full of flavour and cooked beautifully. But the highlight for me was the Soondubu Jjigae—tasty, fiery, and packed with rich, comforting flavours. The service was great, really friendly and attentive staff who made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. If you love authentic Japanese and Korean food, this place is a must-visit! Will definitely be coming back.

We're looking for an excuse to return. For the high quality of food, the prices were very fair. The team were great and the energy of the place on a Sunday was bustling. I'd make a reservation next time, as we were lucky but others were not. Authentic menu items were available and attractive dishes littered the tables.

Just visited for the first time. Very busy but they friendly owner found space for us. My wife have chirashi dombri and I had bibimba both of which were delicious. Green tea ice cream and mixed mochi ice cream to follow, both delicious. Definitely coming back again. Thank you

Really love this restaurant. Lovely decor, great food, the eel on rice is my favourite, and the staff are good. Been coming a long time the only negative is you need to book and can’t just walk in due to the food being so popular.

We arrived without a booking . The place was very busy but they accommodated us . There were 3 people . We have found our favourite restaurant . The food was authentic and amazing. It was very fresh and the service was prompt and friendly . We ate sushi /octupus balls to start . The. Had rice and squid / rice and kimchi and belly pork . All delicious . 🤤 . We will be back .

Oshio is, without a doubt, one of the top restaurants in Brighton. Huge variety of dishes, beautiful presentation and tastes delish. Service is also excellent. If you're looking for a good date spot or family dinner, this is your place!!

The person who seems to be the owner is not welcoming even if you are a returning customer. You are always rushed (in a nice way). The rest of the staff is friendly and professional. Overall the food is pretty good but the portions are too small and that makes the all thing overpriced. We need to find a local alternative to O'Sio

Solid Japanese restaurant serving a variety of dishes. Sushi is really good and I'd recommend trying some of the more unusual dishes out as well.

I don’t understand why so many positive reviews. Have British people ever tried any authentic sashimi?

Food was a 4, value was a 1. I get that Brighton is expensive but what you get for your money here is ridiculously skimpy. Every thing I ordered showed signs of shrinkflation. Miso soup has no tofu in it. The order of 6 hamachi rolls I ordered for £11 were the smallest individual sushi rolls I've ever had. They didn't so much have actual fish in them as more the distant rumor of fish. I also had an order of nigiri for £6.50... again I'm used to a standard order of nigiri in a sushi restaurant being two pieces while here it's a single piece. The ginger beer I ordered was £5 for a small 250ml bottle instead of the standard 330ml size. Finally, this seems like a miserable place to work. Every employee who works here looks completely joyless and there's no recognizable sense of camaraderie. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The vibes and food were AMAZING! We just popped in as we fancied sushi and it ‘‘twas the nearest place but you should 100% go here! The chefs special maki roll and soft shell crab are soooo good! Really recommend :)

I've eaten here a couple of times, and will be back. The food is excellent, and the atmosphere busy, crowded and cozy. A perfect spot for lunch on a cold day. Vegan friendly.

Oh, but this place is good. The staff recommend the kimchi. I recommend the staff. Lovely sushi, sashimi and Japanese stuff, plus the Korean edge. Go there and try it if you don't believe me!

Visité aquí dos veces en tres días. Reservamos las dos veces ya que el lugar está muy ocupado. Tuvimos sushi sobre todo, pero también probamos la tortilla de mariscos que estaba delicioso. No es barato, pero la calidad del sushi era excelente. Personal amable y clientela de edades mixtas tan agradable ambiente. Sin duda volveremos.

We had a fantastic meal and the service was great

This is my second time in this restaurant we book a table for 4 at 6:00 p.m. with 2 adult and 2 kids I never want to reveal something negative about this restaurant because I love the food. The only bad experience from this restaurant for me was the only one person who make me feel so upset about this place ( manager or owner?) We arrived 40 minute earlier than ours booking time so I decide go to ask them can I come in early? I wasn't expect I'm allowed to come in earlier so when the guy asks me my name and what time my booking for so I tell him my name and the time. But I guess he probably can't hear what I say so he decided to raise his voice and shout at me and even that I tell him what my name is he still don't understand it so I have to point my name on he booking sheet instead and he just point where I have to go so we just service ourself to the table that is the first pass from this person the second part was at the end I still have a full glass of wine when I say full I mean completely full so my husband design to order another whisky drink with the waiter who looking after our table but it seem like he's been busy with other table so we decide to wait without complaining that how long we have to wait for ( it seemed long time for me) so the same guy who been rude to me earlier decide to come in and put the bill down for our table but my husband still haven't received he whisky drink yet it seemed like you rushing us out but the time that he rushing us out is 7:00 p.m. and we have only 1.30 hour spending time in the restaurant with total amount that we spend is £272.40 with no service charge include but we still give £40 tip I don't know what to say. The food is excellent the service not bad except the guy that I mentioned I would give him 0 star for he attitude I also work as a customer service I know what you feel like when is busy I just want to say please don't ever do that again before you rushing people out you should talk to them or ask them not just put the bill down and walk away.

Lovely atmosphere: decorations beautiful, open kitchen... Feels like a real portal. Food - vegetarian options - was ok but not outstanding. Suspect meat and fish is better. Still a great experience overall and would go back to sample more of an expansive menu

Food was really bad which is a shame as I had wanted to try this restaurant for a long time. Had the Chicken curry katsu and the sauce tasted like baby food, my partner had the ramen and couldn’t even eat it is it was that bad - the broth was awful. Also had the soy garlic fried chicken to start and the chicken tasted old even tho the coating was super tasty. The service was fab but I would not recommend eating here.

Very tasty food, although I have had better. We didn’t eat a massive range. So I can’t criticise. It was so busy and we hadn’t booked ahead and ate outside. Next time we will try some dishes and maybe book ahead.

El restaurante es tan popular que es difícil conseguir una mesa, así que mi compañero y yo tenemos que salir en su lugar. Muy deliciosa comida de alta calidad, recomendaría. El ambiente interior se veía muy bien, así que fue una pena que no hubiera mesas, pero muy contento con la comida para llevar.

This seems like a very popular eaterie. Popular Korean dishes selection, we were pretty famished so really looking forward to eating this. I had beef bulgogi, which is always one of my favorite Korean dishes, which was lovely and tender, would be even nicer with kimchi on the side but didn't get any veg on the side. Tried the green tea latte, lovely! The atmosphere was good, nice seeing everyone enjoying their feed. Despite the more compact space it felt quite cosy.

Food, server and ambience were great. Best Japanese and Korean resto in Brighton. It’s just that the ‘manager’ told us to leave right away after two hours of staying in the restaurant. We know we’re booked from 6:45pm-8:30pm.We informed staff that one of our friend will gonna be late because she came from duty. She’s not done eating yet and one of our friend wanted to order Teokbokki but said not allowed anymore as we stayed 2 hours. That time there were still vacant table and no other customer awaiting outside for table. Just a little consideration, not to be limited by time as we’re ordering enough food for people as well.

Simply the best Japanese down south. Eel is properly grilled. The sashimi set is out of this world especially the squid with a touch of yuzu. Very good value as well.

El orden salió en ningún orden en particular - fue un poco extraño terminar con sashimi, pero mis hijos le dieron una buena oportunidad, sin embargo. Aconsejaría reservar - entramos y obtuvimos la última mesa sin reservas, pero otros rechazaron.

oshio gives you more bang for your buck, used to go here every weekend when i was in brighton. personally i like the sashimi platter, salmon chazuke and yaki udon.

It can get quite busy but it’s in general poggers, best Japanese food I’ve ever had in UK, would highly recommend chirashi rice, white prawn sushi and honey soy sauce chicken

We’ve now been twice and fallen in love with O’Shio! The vibe is authentic and the food is absolutely wonderful! The service is on point and super friendly. We’ll be back!

The food is amazing, the kimchi pancake can be a bit oily sometimes but still tastes great. I've eaten here 6 times now taken a few friends there and would recommend to anyone. Prices are very reasonable and great value.

Lovely place for special occasions, like birthdays, celebrations etc, but also nice to pop in for a casual meal. Can be hard to get a seat due to how popular it is, but that’s just a testament to how good the food is!

I had suspicion it may not be authentic because they offer both Japanese and Korean food but the food exceeded my expectation. Great service. The waiter noticed a customer dropped their chopstick immediately and offered a new pair while he was cleaning a different table. On food, I ordered salmon and salmon roe don. I'll give it a 8 out of 10, you can taste they marinated the fish and salmon roe in both mirin and soy sauce. The only thing lacking might be the soy sauce used, it was not light enough and there may lack some fish stock to dilute the bitter taste of soy sauce. not 100% authentic, but already very good and reasonable price.

Restaurant located at the beginning of the Lanes, very characteristic interior. Truly excellent and fast service, we were served after 10/15 minutes of all the dishes we had ordered. Exceptional udon, very good sushi but not a 10. Overall very good Japanese restaurant and certainly in the top 3 in Brighton. Prices now good average in Brighton. Advised
