Best food but worst service. We showed up ten min before the booked slot but we were told “you should come on time”. And none even smiled to us during the whole two hours, and they even pushed us to pay for the bills and leave to give the table to next four guests? In summary, It’s the opposite of warmth.

We were deeply disappointed by this restaurant. I came with a group of 10 uni mates, and we were really excited to enjoy good food yet got treated really poorly. The moment we entered the restaurant, we were told to stop walking and wait outside just because we had luggages with us. We were also told on the phone that we can eat for 1.5 hours, but after 40 minutes the waiter started rushing us and sent 3 different staff to rush us in the span of 5 minutes. We haven’t even finished eating our food, and there was nobody waiting outside for the table. We felt as though we were poorly treated with disrespect solely due to us being younger students. Food was good but the disrespect truly ruined the entire experience.

I always drop in for a meal when in Brighton for work. Food and service is excellent and prices are reasonable. The Soondubu Jigae tonight was amazing.

I've been there many times and the food is great. I would say O'Shio is a great place for Korean/Japanese food in Brighton.

What an amazing experience! The amount of options of Korean and Japanese food on their menu is incredible. The atmosphere was lively as the restaurant is small, it felt so personal. All our food was 10/10..just want to go back to eat more!

I went there as soon as it opened at 5 o'clock, and it seemed to be a very popular place, so it filled up quickly after a few minutes. They seem to be accepting group reservations well. I ordered kimchi stew and it was really delicious. It was nice that it came with rice too.

Had a reservation last night. Can’t tell you how enjoyable this food is! We had gyoza, takoyaki, a sushi platter, ramen with a side of kimchi. Washed down with a couple of bottles of Asahi! If you like Japanese or Korean food. Come here.

I called them on Wednesday to book a table for 4 for this Saturday. We confirmed 3 times over the phone call it was for this Saturday. So I shows up with my family but then they can’t find my booking at all. They then asked me to show them the booking text which I did. It turn out the lady booked for next month. They have not apologized at all but blame on me didn’t check the confirmation text message. The service inside is just terrible.

Perfect for a casual night, very tasty, really amazing service- we had prawn tempura, fried chicken, salmon and tuna maki- the rice bowls look delicious too !

This place exists purely on its past glory! Food is nothing special, but the customer service is absolutely shocking! I even saw customers who were 5 mins late for their reservations and told them to leave. They need to work on their communication skills, as orders were getting mixed up!

This place hits the spot!! I had the eel roll, the sweet soy fried chicken and steamed rice and every bite was delicious. The service is great, everyone is so nice and helpful. The restaurant itself is cozy and nicely decorated. This is definitely going to be one of my Brighton go to's!

Hands down our favourite restaurant in Brighton, anytime we go anywhere else we regret it as we are so disappointed and wish we had gone to O’Shio instead. Amazing fresh delicious food, the best Korean fried chicken wings in Brighton, possibly the UK (we have tried a lot!). Sushi is incredible too. Can’t wait to come back again and again.

Great food would come back again

O’Shio is a great spot! The location is superb and the food and service is even better. There’s a wide selection here and you’d think having both Korean and Japanese would reduce the quality for each but that wasn’t the case. The Kimchi Stew was a particular highlight. Really good tempura too.

I have been to this restaurant serval times and I was always amazed by their food.

The food was good but waited a bit long, I guessed it was worth it 😅😅😅 Definitely fell in love with their matcha ice cream.

Hotpot is great, matcha latte is pre made, too sweet. Tempura is not crispy enough. A bit over priced

came alone for the dinner with pre-booked table for 2 people(cuz the minimum number for online pre-booking is 2). The waiter said it’s “cheating”!!And he kept annoying me while I was trying to finish my meal. No respect and courtesy for customers at all!!! Hope this fxxking place could be shut down soon!!!!

Every time we've been to O'Shio, it's blown me away! The food is just incredible, and the quality is truly something else. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, their suggestions have ended up being some of our favourite dishes. It's always such a treat to dine here, and we always walk away singing its praises.

The more I go, the more I like it. All dishes I tried tasted very authentic But the best thing is the atmosphere. Highly recommended

It's just a British ordinary quality Japanese cuisine. The sushi falls apart when picked up and the sashimi is sliced too thin. I agree, It's completely overrated.

Cool place ... food is great, it hasn't been touched up to look fancy and you wouldn't suspect the food is so good. Took the wife out for her birthday and she loved it

We have been here 5 times in the last 2 months. The food is delicious! It is so good I keep forgetting to take pictures. We often get the bulgogi, tofu miso ramen, pork soon dubu jigae (tofu stew), kimchi mandu (dumplings) and spicy fried chicken wings (cannot remember the Korean name). Highly recommend. Hard to get reservations because it is so popular.

We had a beef rib soup.it didn't taste fresh. The meat disintegrated into tiny pieces and had a strong taste of beef fat. The Prawn Tempura was not freshly made to order ( bought from wholesaler I am sure). The other dishes Udon, sushi etc...were average. The whole family thinks this restaurant is overrated.

This is my go-to place for a dinner treat. My partner and I go on romantic eat outs there. I don’t eat meat or fish often but when I do, O’Shio is the place. The food is excellent, I have a soft spot for the salmon, fish eggs & rice. 🍣🍚 So good 🤩

The food here is good but a little overpriced, near the end of their closing time one of their employees almost took away all our bowls and plates. After that we ask her for the bowl back and she grabbed a new bowl and putted it down with extreme aggressiveness other than that everything else is good.

Amazing vegetarian and vegan options! Huge portions too. If you want your food to be piping hot 25mins after it is served, go for the hotpot.

Went to this place after seeing great reviews as our go-to Korean place - Kogi was closed and we were willing to try a new spot. We ordered a mix of Japanese and Korean. Kimchi was very mild and tasted too fresh for our liking. Sushi rice was still slightly warm and all peaces were different sizes and falling appart. Dishes were coming out very slowly and the last one simply didn’t come until we asked for it twice. We noticed other tables were waiting around too. On a more positive note, bulgogi tasted great and cheese tteokbokki was also lovely. Soju was cold and the overall atmosphere was quite nice.

Be careful! This restaurant is dangerous! I have the serious food allergy of mushroom and I asked the stuff not to add the mushrooms in my meals. The stuff asked the kitchen. They replied me that they won't put any mushroom in my meal. However, there was still some mushrooms in my meal. Almost went to the hospital. Life matters. Please think before you go to this restaurant!

One of the best sushi & sashimi you can get in Southern UK. The raw fish are fresh and tasty. The Korean spicy pot with a very original taste. My daughter loves the udon, it's so chewy the soup is great too. I would defiantly visit again to try more dishes.

I had a great experience at OShio Japanese and Korean restaurant in Brighton. The service was excellent, the prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious. We started with the fried octopus, which was perfectly cooked and had a nice crispy exterior. For our mains, I got the sashimi with rice in a hot stone bowl with miso soup, and my partner got the bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. Both dishes were fresh and flavorful, and the hot stone bowls kept the food warm and cooked through perfectly. We also tried two sake flights, which were a great way to sample a variety of sakes. The sakes were all very smooth and easy to drink, and they paired well with our food. The server kindly explained the flavour of each sake. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at OShio Japanese and Korean restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. A bit cramped, but amazing range and quality Korean and Japanese food. We noticed many Asian oriental diners in there with us, surely a testament to the authenticity and quality.

This is a charming restaurant, slightly studenty, lots of Japanese/Korean people which is usually a good sign, quite buzzy and busy, need to book at peak times. Highlights were the service which was quick even when busy, friendly, polite and delightful. The food was tasty - good range of different types of dishes. My only complaint would be that as vegetarians, we had nearly all the veggie options available in our first visit so the incentive to return is as limited as the choice. More veggie options please ! It's Brighton ! And it's East Asian food !

I came following the great trip advisor reviews. I think it is quite pricey for sushi and rolls. The food is good but for what you get it is expensive. I had the Vegetable Gyoza & chef special roll. I might come back and try the Korean food, but will give the sushi a miss.

Oshio food it’s fantastic. I truly enjoyed it. The only criticism is that their vegetarian options are not really vegetarian if they have fish or oyster sauce, so if you are vegetarian, please ensure you order their vegan options

Big sushi fan and while the food was good, this was a bit overpriced; where I would expect 8 pieces for the price I got 5. Put me off ordering more.

We’ve had a real hankering for sushi lately so thought we’d try an authentic looking place. To my boyfriends disappointment I tried the honey and soy fried chicken.... not so authentic, but oh so delicious. Sweet and crispy and tender AND a large portion. We shared the salmon roe and prawn rice sushi. The mayonnaise on top was a little too much but still tasty. I think 4 each was a few too many for us though. We also shared the prawn gyoza. Delicious and filled to the brim.

So flavourful and staff were so kind and fast despite how busy they were! Craving their food again already. This is a must visit if you like korean and japanese food

Today, I went to the restaurant with my mates and overall, I got a pretty incredible experience. I ordered a Natto for starter, which was £6.90 I believe?! It taste absolutely amazing, it’s a little bit sticky so some of them may find it a bit disgusting, but I really like that. 10/10 Then we got a a bowl of rice with a bunch of seafood on it. The price wasn’t too pricey and it truly tasted really good as it got some soft-textured tuna and salmon on it! I’m not sure if the black thingy on the rice would be caviar, but it still taste good. The only thing that doesn’t go well on the rice is that, some exceptional pieces of fish are really solid and hard. 7.5/10 We also got 6 pieces of spicy tuna sushi, it’s approx. £12-13 which was a bit pricey, and it doesn’t really taste exceptionally good. TBH, it’s does not taste bad, but it’s overpriced. 6/10 There was a Udon on the menu, it taste normal, nothing special, just a piece of “meaty stuff” and a piece of carrot. Nothing special 5.5/10 We tried the sushi platter, they tasted SERIOUSLY well! With the ginger and wasabi(the little green thingy), they taste automatically better than ever! And the eel sushi was my personal favourite there. 9/10 We got a cold noddles for £13.90, it was a thin ramen noddles with cold, flavoured ice and crispy veggies in it, it was good and really crispy. The noddles were chewy but I got a little bit tired of it after a few bites. Not guaranteeing it. 6/10 Last but not least, we had a kimchi stew?! I think it is, it’s the best of all the dish and it tastes so warm, spicy with the rice!! There were kimchi, pork and some other things in it and it’s the best thing to have in winter!!! Taste unbelievably good!10/10

The plain atmosphere at O'Shio belies the delicious authenticity of the food they serve. First off, at least half the diners were Asian, and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant filled up as soon as it opened at 12 noon. The menu choice is vast, covering many types of Japanese and Korean dishes, and the portions are large. Four of us ordered 4 starters and 4 mains, and despite our hearty appetites, we unfortunately were unable to finish our meals. It was a shame, as everything was really good, and we hate waste. Next time, we'll order 2 starters to share - and there will definitely be a next time!

We stumbled upon this place on the way to the beach when visiting Brighton and saw the food people having outside. We came back in the early evening for dinner and the staff were really friendly and accommodating with our dog. Quick service and absolutely delicious Japanese and Korean food. Everything was fresh, delicious and great portions. We will be coming back next time in Brighton.

Best Japanese and Korean cuisine you'll find!! The food was superb and tasted very authentic! It does get quite busy out there so I'd recommend booking a table in advance even though we went there without one. I'd a chicken ramen and my friend had kimchi stew along with rice cake as a side dish. We weren't disappointed by our choices neither the place.

Nice place but I felt it slightly overpriced in relation to what I've had elsewhere in the city. Food was very good but not exceptional as I was expecting from other reviews. Bulgogi was the best thing I had out of lots we tried. Service was great and nice atmosphere inside. Not opposed to returning to try other bits of the menu

NEVER AGAIN! Rude manager. I’ve spent over £100 there on 3 previous visits. But not hard to make someone feel unwanted. Tonight staff couldn’t be bothered (except nice female servers). Left me hanging for my 2nd order. Then male staff happy to tell me no more orders. Manager happiest of all in a cruel, rude sort of way to give me the bad news. Spoke to me like I was a naughty school child or an employee getting the sack. After finally getting bill for what I did order was kicked to the street with other restaurants approaching closing time so had to go back to room for Uber Eats. Food? Fish fine. Rice a little on heavy side. Kimchi and miso soup very good. But if you want a very grumpy, rude man to look at you, O’Shio is the place.

One of my favourite places to visit. It is authentic which my daughters love Japanese and Korean culture so they really enjoyed the visit. The atmosphere is great and the food is fantastic at a reasonable price. The service is pleasant and efficient. The only downside is they don't stop talking about it so I will have to return!😉
