Had been trying to get a table for about a month after being told it’s the best restaurant in Brighton, finally managed to get an early evening reservation and this place did not disappoint. Small, intimate restaurant, not trying to be fancy, not overpriced, but the food was incredible, especially the skewers. Very casual dining, added more dishes after original order, never felt rushed. Will definitely return!

It’s as good as people say. Delicious food, especially the chicken skewers. Price very decent for a restaurant of this level. Great sake. The ambience and decor are both cool and cosy which is a hard mix to achieve - quite dark inside, with traditional Japanese art and tasteful sake bottles, and chalkboard art on the menu above the kitchen. Proper izakaya vibes I’m struggling to find comparable options for in London so far. Loved sitting on the counter overlooking the kitchen although would prefer a bit more back support and might have struggled with that space if I was big/overweight. Booking well in advance definitely recommended - especially if you want a table.

My wife and I book a weekend away in Brighton every year to go to Bincho. I'm somewhat of a zealot when speaking to people about this place. I was lucky enough to have it recommended by our hotel concierge three years ago during my honeymoon. Wow, I was blown away by the atmosphere when we entered—a proper buzz going around the place (it's only small). The food is amazing; I could order anything off the menu and be happy with it. Some highlights are the pork belly, Korean fried cauliflower, charred sweet potato, chicken thighs, and many more. So far, we've been three years in a row and always try to book slightly later in the evening to be around for closing. I like that we aren't in a rush to leave the table, and the vibes when arriving at half nine feel great. Each time we’ve been, the service has been impeccable. The last time (28/09/24), the girl serving us took the time to build a bit of rapport, which made us feel super welcome. She is definitely an asset to the team, i hope the studying of medicine at uni goes well! I often wish it was closer to us, as I would make any excuse to go, but it's truly a special time when we make it down to Brighton for Bincho.

Voted best restaurant for a reason, the food is probably some of the best I've ever had, served fast, hot a god damn delicious. Service is great, staff are very attentive despite how incredibly busy it is. Price is extremely reasonable. Would come again, over and over!!! Ordered 7 dishes, pork belly was melt in your mouth insane. Tenderstem Broccoli was incredible. Cauliflower portion was big, but I could of honestly eaten twice the amount, never would I of thought I wanted more veggies because of the taste. The lamb was equally just as great. Point being I couldn't say a single bad word about any of the food, only good. If you haven't tried, book a table and try it, you will be coming back over n over!!!

The staff were super friendly and accommodating as we were a walk in and seated us even though it was busy. I had high hopes, but for me the food wasn’t great. Too much soya sauce in one dish, little flavour in the rice. Also had two main vegetarian options from what I could see, so limited choice.

Date: 30th August 2024 Cost: £110 + tip for two I’d wanted to come back to Bincho ever since the very first beautiful mouthful of my first visit. Those juicy, tender, skewered salty morsels had been consuming my every waking thought since, and like the most depraved of addicts I had been concocting increasingly vile and nefarious plans to ensure a return. So it was that I felt no guilt manipulating Dad into coming down here for our latest father-son meal out instead of going up to see him in London, reverse engineering aspects of the visit he’d particularly like in order to paint the suggestion as thoughtful and personal: “you’ll really like it: it’s a grilled meats place and we can go for a nice walk along the seafront to get there; there’s a good selection of Japanese whisky too!” What I’ve been in knowing self-denial over for years is that in fact Dad and I are very similar in a lot of ways, and so I probably overthought the planning stage - he loved the place almost as much as I did. From repeated mentions of having the best seats in the house (a view through to the grill without sitting directly at the bar) despite an insistence that he’s no longer bothered about where he sits, to praise of the service and a positive commentary on the decor, lighting and “a nice level of busy-ness”, it was almost as though he was trying to tell me - without using the word itself, for fear of bringing up years of historical familial ridicule at his use and pronunciation of it - that Bincho has that what he looks for in a restaurant almost more than decent scran: ambience. Though I do love the bustle and the low lights against the blackness of every surface, several with specials scrawled into them in chalk; the empty bottles of Yamazaki adorning the perimeter wall shelves; the noises and aromas that emanate from the kitchen and the ridiculous efficiency of the staff, I normally need the food itself to be outstanding to warrant a second visit somewhere. Fortunately at Bincho, it is. We got a couple of the beer-snacky veggie starters to buy Dad a bit of time with the menu. The Korean cucumbers benefited from a chopping and a tossing - a change from last time - and the pickles disappeared as frustratingly quickly as ever, meaning that Dad let me take the lead when our patient waitress came to clear our plates and ask again if we were ready to order. The great thing about a simple concept done well and to great variety - as the yakitori is here - is that you can just order to taste, in stages, again and again, until you can’t order any more. And so we did. Chicken skin, chicken meatball (with egg yolk dip), salmon, shrimp and teriyaki miso pork yakitori were all sampled across the evening, the latter two of that chalk-scrawled specials menu. To accompany we had the hipsi cabbage, also from the specials and mercifully still available from last time but ordered just the once this time; a lamb chop (nice, but the yakitori were all better); a kind of creamy broccoli (the only thing approaching disappointing); and an almost stupidly good sea bream tempura, the fish flaky and meaty, the curling batter light and crispy - entirely unnecessary but somehow otherworldly and potentially the highlight. I felt like I could have kept going, personally, but I concede it was probably for the best to forego the Japanese whisky and have that seafront walk, the only issue being the fresh sea air, so devoid of meaty smoke, sobering me up quickly enough that I couldn’t help but start thinking about my next hit.

Our experience at Bincho Yakitori was quite rushed due to our inability to book a table but that did not stop the staff from trying their best to fit in a table for us at the door, as well as giving us the best service they could. Our dining experience was 45 mins but that was enough time to experience this little gem of a restaurant. Food came out very quickly as soon as we ordered and our drinks were brought over almost instantly. The staff really did provide excellent service and they really seemed to care about ensuring everyone had a good experience. We ordered the tempura seabreem from the specials, the chicken skin, the chicken meatballs, the chicken karaage, kimchi rice, and the miso butter sweetcorn. I can’t emphasise enough how good the food was. Everything was cooked to perfection: The karaage was tender but crispy, the seabreem was beautifully battered and paired amazingly with the crab mayo, the chicken skin was juicy but also crispy, and the meatballs and sweetcorn were like nothing I’ve ever tasted before. The meatballs had an insanely juicy texture and the miso butter sweetcorn was the most unique sweetcorn I’ve ever had. The kimchi rice was also beautiful. I was impressed with how quickly everything came out after we ordered, yet it was all done fresh and ready to order. I’d seriously recommend a visit here if you’re in Brighton. It was so good that I definitely intend to go back if I’m ever in Brighton again so we can try the rest of the menu!

I highly recommend this restaurant in Brighton and Hove - preston street. Firstly, great location. Secondly, it's one of brighton's best and so you have to book in advance otherwise you risk not getting a table. Now on to the food; I adored the salad with salmon sashimi as I love sushi 🍣 but also the fried cauliflower is a must try! So delicious. For the meat lovers, the skewers are delicious; try the quail egg wrapped in bacon, chicken hearts and meatballs which are so soft and go amazingly with the egg yolk. It's recommended to have about 3-4 plates each and definitely share so you get to try a little of a lot. The service was very speedy, and smiley, which is all you can ask for. The atmosphere was awesome, especially for us sitting at the counter, watching our food being made and having it delivered to us by the chefs as soon as it was ready 😀 The Japanese decor is very aesthetic. It's worth what you spend.

I would suggest to be brave when visiting, cz they have dishes like chicken hearts and chicken liver. Plenty of choice of sake as well! The atmosphere is something I haven't seen in Brighton, not posh, casual cosy place ! Dog friendly as well. We tried: BBQ squid, prawns, chicken hearts and liver, miso aubergine and all of them were tasty. It's very authentic, definitely the place not to be overlooked! 👌🏻 Open until 23pm Not too pricey, but also not cheap.

I can honestly say, hand on my heart, this was the best meal I've ever had. I've stayed at 5 star hotels, eaten at some of the best restaurants around the world but the food here was second to none. We had : Chicken thighs Chicken hearts Pork belly (X2 because we just couldn't get enough) Chicken skin Kimchi Korean cucumber Karaage And 2 different sakes and a yuzushu. Let's start with the taste, the food was incredible, tender yet crispy, smoke and sweet it was a perfect balance between the 2. The pork belly was the real star for me, how it was so tender it was as if slow cooked yet so crispy it felt like fries on the outside I will never understand. There wasn't any part of this meal that was a let down with the exception that the karaage was overshadowed by how simply amazing the yakitori were. If you're coming here don't make the mistake of forgetting the name. It's Bincho Yakitori, not Bincho Karaage. That being said, the karaage was still delicious just not on the same level as the yakitori. The price? Really reasonable, the portions fill you up nicely, and there is a great selection of choices with the drinks. Including the pleasure of being presented with an overflowing cup (the symbolism was not lost on me) I 100% reccomend sitting at the counter if you can, being able to watch these chefs do what they do best and even being handed the food by them straight from the grill, pan or fryer is something truly special. It was like being given a glimpse into a world where magic happens. I left my umbrella behind by accident and ran back and they were very quick to help me recover it, thank you to our server with the braces (my apologies I never caught your name) she was amazing and helped to ensure that the whole experience was a success, always serving with a smile ( I work in a 5* hotel I know good service and that was it!!) We will be coming back again, I could not recommend Bincho Yakitori more, Thank you chefs and team this was truly something special

An absolute all time favourite. Have tried it a few times now and it never seems to disappoint. The flavours are bursting, everything is cooked to order so it’s warm and hearty. Can’t fault it. Amazing value, we end up ordering half the menu! Honestly, if you ask around people will tell you to go, not one to miss. Great way to try something out of your comfort zone to, like chicken hearts! Wow. If you need a place with quality food and a great atmosphere then definitely give them a go.

The Bincho x Halisco OctoberBEST menu was legendary... Everything we had was incredible, especially those potatoes, I could've kept eating them for hours... Was our third trip to Bincho and food has been exceptional every time - large portion sizes and reasonably priced too ❤️

Wow, this is a excellent Japanese tapas restaurant! The place is small so booking is essential, we visited mid week and it was fully booked and people were being turned away. The staff are friendly, helpful and polite but the food is the star. So tasty, well flavoured and excellent! You can chose 2/3 dishes from the menu but also ask for some more (if you have room!) It was lovely to be told to take our time and relax and just enjoy. I'd love to go back and try more good food.

Good service. Food was amazing. I recommend getting 6 plates for 2 ppl (so 3 per person). The pork belly yakitori was amazing. They also have off menu foods. Highly recommend!!

Reception/front of house very poor. Tables far too close together. First sitting of the evening 5pm, did our first couple of dishes taste very slightly of lighter fuel or fire lighters or was it the marinade? Got charged for hot water, the food is quite salty so need 3 cups at 90p per cup!! They serve small plates and finger food so why did I have to ask for hand wipes after the chicken wings and the waitress looking so surprised. She even asked if we needed 2, i.e one each!! Then something the size of a postage stamp arrived. Overall very disappointed and will not recommend it. Better places in Brighton for a similar price.

Yakitori from here is amazing and authentic, the atmosphere is unique, give a feeling that I traveled to Japan. We have order tomato salad and yakitori dishes. Recommend: Yakitori squid, chicken meatballs with egg yolk, chicken skin. The wine list is various, a lot of wine from Japan that you can try here. It is difficult to book, the restaurant is really popular, will suggest to prebook at least two weeks in advance. The location is near Churchill square.

My husband and I dined at this restaurant for dinner, ordering yakitori, potato salad, and karage. Unfortunately, the karage was somewhat dry and lacked juiciness, while the potato salad struck us as excessively salty and served ice cold. We weren't sure if this is typical for Japanese potato salad. However, the saving grace was the yakitori, which was delicious.

Really cool vibe in here. Recommend the bar seating option for a bit of sightseeing as you get to watch the chefs in action. Being able to peruse all the amazing dishes that come out to get your appetite going is nice entertainment! It's a little bit cramped by UK standards but compared to some of the spots in Tokyo this is like a mansion 😉 The food is really high quality. The prices are not unreasonable for the variety and quality of the items. Seafood items are delicate and fresh, deep fried dishes are crisp but light, melt in your mouth pork belly, juicy and tender karage... I could go on. We got a variety of dishes and each of them was great. Bill for 2 pre tip came to £90 total for a pretty filling meal without alcohol. When I am not driving, I would love to hit up their drinks menu for their variety of Japanese liquors. The staff here are friendly, attentive and fun. Walk in seating is tough, so it's best you book in advance to guarantee a spot, especially with a larger group. Definitely recommend giving this place a visit.

Lovely place, foods were delicious and all waitresses were cheerful and helpful. My chance I was alone, and they popped me inside without reservation. But don't try to visit there without reservation.

Food was absolutely amazing! However our experience was overshadowed by the service and other diners. Service was a bit slow- we were seated before other larger groups and served much later on. Unfortunately tables either side of us were extremely loud and rude to the point we could not hear our own conversation.

So glad we found this gem of a restaurant! We had the chicken meatballs with egg yolk dip, quail eggs wrapped in bacon, grilled squid, pork belly, and chicken skin skewers, aubergine with miso paste, garlic rice, plus a flight of sake alongside, and dessert of white chocolate, yuzu & macha fingers. Everything was sublime!

Managed to fit us in as a walk as luckily for us a table of the same size just called to cancel their reservation. Big props to the lovely lady who took it upon herself to plan us a feast as we were so hungry and excited to be there we were just after a recommendation, please work out who that was and give her a big well done as we forgot to catch her name. Plate after plate of delicious, thoughtful food, lots of sake and my new favourite, plum wine. So grateful for the experience, recomend to all

You need to book well in advance if you want to be choosy with the time and date you visit - but gosh is it worth the wait!!!! Bincho Yakitori lived up to the hype. Reasonably priced Japanese and Korean-inspired small plates that really pack a punch with every bite. I was impressed by all the dishes I tried, but standouts were the chicken skins, Korean cauliflower, and the specials; hispi cabbage with black garlic sauce, and matcha green tea ice cream for dessert. There’s also an extensive drinks menu. The Yuzu lager was zesty and refreshing, and the Sake I enjoyed afterwards was so crisp and delicate. I can’t wait to try more!! Overall, I can’t fault Bincho. The service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was ambient and buzzing. Looking forward to the next visit already 😍

The food was above average, the service below average and the price was average. I have no idea why it’s so popular but you can probably save yourself the bother and go somewhere else.
