The best restaurants in River Arun South East

Normally had breakfast when family came over, tea and cake as I live near by. service was excellent food and always busy was the perfect place in the summer. Unfortunately as from the new year 2024 it's closed! 😕

I went to the Boat House the other week and I ordered the kedgeree. It was £15.95 which is a lot for what you get. The rice was hard and the fish obviosuly wasn’t fresh. I am extremely disappointed with the food as it used to be such good quality. I think the prices are very expensive and not worth the food quality, making me not want to come back again. I also met the owner and when I spoke to her she seemed very unwelcoming and rude. I also heard another conversation between her and another member of staff slagging off one of the other customer or staff I cannot be certain as to which one it was. As a customer having only been a few a time,this really came as a suprise to me to see no professionalism whatsoever. I am very upset and again disappointed with my experience. All around it just wasn’t an enjoyable place to be. This is such a shame as to what use to be a nice place for food can be so toxic and shocking.

We had the chicken and spinach cannelloni and the calzone pizza. Beautiful authentic food for the soul. Unpretentious proper food. My chicken and spinach cannelloni was incredible. Rich and creamy yet light and really flavourful. One of my favourite meals ever. The tirimisu was equally well done. This place is really special its obvious they value quality and quantity over profits. The staff were perfect too very friendly and attentive. will be back to try some more of your amazing food.

Was in the area and fancied a curry, this is a very small restaurant near the water and offers the usual menu options. Very nice food and the bill was surprisingly low.

Lunch with friends in this charming cafe with a lovely menu. I had the moules frites which was amazing, my friends had the scampi and the vegan burger. Very generous portions and delicious food served in a trendy relaxed environment in a prime spot by the river. Staff were lovely, food was fresh and served quickly - would highly recommend 👍🏻.

Firebird is a lovely place for both good food and friendly staff . We weren’t rushed and had a great chat with the owner. Food was cooked to order and very tasty. Also plenty of it .

I went with my boyfriend and my family today and had an amazing time the food was brilliant and the place is very clean and the staff are amazing. A special thanks to the owner Jimmy for giving us a brilliant time and serving us our food quickly after ordering Will definitely come back and me and my family including my boyfriend thinks you should too!

This was hands down the worst fish and chips experience of my life. I ordered the cod and chips—big mistake. The chips were like cardboard, dry and tasteless. The fish was soggy, undercooked, and drenched in oil that completely overpowered any flavor the fish might have had. It was honestly gross. To top it off, the service was just as bad. The staff had a serious attitude, and one of them even rolled her eyes while taking our order. £30 for 2 meals, don't waste your money here.

The staff here are lovely, really friendly and very helpful with giving you tips on how to cook things and recipes !!

Takeaway Kamal - Husband found piece of metal in his curry. Looks like a rivet type screw with circular head, he spat it out but could have ended very badly. No response from restaurant. Health hazard.

Excellent, well run mid price cafe/restaurant with lovely views and position on the river Arun.

This restaurant has been my favorite curry place for a while now. So far I’ve tried their Tarka dal, lamb Naga and Lamb Biryani. I think the chef knows what he is doing. Always freshly cooked aromatic curries, crispy papdums and attentive service

Good was good. Place seemed a rather run down and in need of refreshing.

It's been updated since the last time I was here a few years ago. Very modern looking and multiple screens for sports. Worth checking out.
