Was in the area and fancied a curry, this is a very small restaurant near the water and offers the usual menu options. Very nice food and the bill was surprisingly low.

We’ve visited on many occasions before covid and always had a great time. Visited last night, Thursday 17 September2020, and were not surprised to find we were alone, however my wife quite rightly said it was like a private dining experience. Food was as good as ever, good portions and free of any residual fat, the aloo gobi was the best we’ve tasted anywhere. A large glass of house wine IS LARGE and perfectly quaffable. You will have to bear with them when you want the bill....the guvnor is the take away delivery driver and is responsible for calculating the bill and you, like us, may have to await his return. PLEASE be patient as the guy is trying to stay afloat in these strange times. Finally, if you are a previous customer please return and if a new customer give them a try, great food, great price and where else could you eat fantastic traditional curry within sight of the River Aran.

Our usual favourite indian was closed so we decided to try this one. The chicken tikka was overcooked, dry and tough. The lamb was completely inedible and I dont use that word lightly! It was like chewing on a lump of rubber. The lamb was my partners and when she said she couldn't eat it I thought she was exaggerating. She wasnt..... The onion bhaji was burnt and flavourless. And the samosa was soggy. To make matters worse it was about 20% more expensive than the order for similar meals from our usual. The curry sauces were palatable but nothing more. The naan bread was the standard bought in ones that most Indians have so were reasonable but nothing compared to freshly made ones. Save some money and order from Cinnamon in Beach Road. You will have a much much better meal!

The outward appearance isn’t promising and the steps might deter older diners but the interior is well presented with tables in booths giving good privacy. The meals are very reasonably priced and of good quality without having any wow factor. They seem to do a lot of takeaways. There were spare tables but glad we booked. So good value for money without being out of the ordinary.

I’ve never written a review of this restaurant and I don’t know why, as I’ve used it consistently about three times a month. For years. I ate at another Indian restaurant locally the other week and it was pretty poor compared to the Raj, and more expensive. This is the most exceptional and authentic Asian food for miles. And the prices are really good too. I’ve given it 5 stars for a reason!

When you first try a different restaurant it can take a meal or two to appreciate how nice their food is - if it is slightly different from what you’ve been eating from elsewhere. But it was worth the switch to Raj Doot. Their madras gravy is the best around and we love curry night from here. Front of house could be a bit friendlier, but delivery lady is always smiley and polite.

We have been many times, the food is always amazing, but lacks in actually listening to their customers. We had an amazing meal, and always order lots of different dishes and take the rest away. As always we asked for all the left overs to be packed separately for us to enjoy another day. Everything was put into one foil takeaway tray. I mean 3 sides and two completely different curries squashed and mixed up into an inedible mess. This is not the first time this has happened. For the high price paid we don't mind when you can enjoy another meal from the left overs. But it is bitterly disappointing to pay a high amount abd be given a mushy mess of left overs at the end. We will not be going back, because we have given it several chances and this was the final disappointment.

The food was nice although the popadoms had gone soft and the curries were just about warm. Our order was due at 20.33 and Did not arrive until 21.35. At 21.00 I rang and was bluntly told it would be there in 5 minutes. At 21.15 I rang again and said it was due at 20.33 and it was now very late. We placed the order at 19.30 the person I spoke too was very rude and said it wasn't ready at 20.33 and the delivery person was lost. When it arrived the delivery person was lovely she appologiesed and said she was about 5 mins lost and she hadn't long left the restaurant. The person on The phone had lied and hadn't got our meal out even by 9pm. Even though they kept saying it would only be a few minutes it was an hour late not warm enough and soggy popadoms. No apology from the resturant.

Tonight was our first visit and I can honestly say it won't be our last. We had a lovely evening. We had booked a table for 8pm. We arrived to be shown a table at the window, overlooking the river. We were really surprised. I only have one minor negative comment and that was the waitress was a little too keen to get the drinks. We had only barely sat down when she asked what drinks we wanted. We felt a little rushed. After that there was nothing to complain about. The food was really delicious and probably the best indian I have had at an indian restaurant on the south coast. We felt really relaxed, the atmosphere was lovely. The air con was set perfectly, not freezing you half to death like some places. It was on very gentle so wasn't at all uncomfortable. We felt we were able to spend our night without rushing our food. The prices were very good and have both said we will definitely go back. The staff were pleasant and didn't invade your space. The portions were plentiful and very authentic.

I landed up in this place today during a day trip to Littlehampton. Firstly there are three steps on entry leading to a narrow hallway so very difficult for families with pushchairs. After entry I found the whole place empty so went on to find our table next to the window, immediately the manager had problem that the pushchair would obstruct future customers so I kept to a side.Next the manager had problem in we sitting on a larger table which might be needed if the place suddenly became full. Finally after settling down when we started to order, we wanted to have Bhindi masala which is their side dish, that is when we were told that we must order a main dish per person minimum to eat in. We tried to make up a menu by mixing one main dish with one side dish and a biryani still to be refused by the manager. This concept was never seen by me anywhere and that seems to be the reason the this place was totally empty. As expected I left this place without having anything, thanks to their rude service and policies.Would not recommend to any family visiting for some Sunday relaxation.

We decided to try Raj Doot after it had been recommended to us and checking out take away menu, deciding that it would be suitable for other members of the party who had less experience of Indian restaurants. The restaurant was very nice although i could see some tables feeling cramped if it filled up. But our table was very nice. Staff were very nice and friendly and thankfully not too attentive. Prices looked very reasonable.Unfortunately Raj Doot was let down by the flavour of its main dishes with some dishes having quite over powering individual ingredients, to the point that one member of the party did not eat much at all, having to scrape the korma sauce off the chicken before eating.Whilst my nan bread was very nice, i thought that my main dish was very average, chicken a bit tough and sauce rather thin for my taste. Meat portions were also quite small. Certainly not an Indian to fill you up with.I've had much better Indians else where and one member had had far better meal as a supermarket ready meal.Im sure had it not had come so highly recommended I would have enjoyed it more, but in the end I came away rather disappointed as I found it all rather average.

The Raj is one of the top dining experiences in Littlehampton. This is real Bengali food which is reflected in the interesting and diverse menu. The chef uses very fresh ingredients which you can see as soon as you get the poppadoms. He also uses an amazing variety of vegetables including seasonal British as well as Bengali. It is surprising to see sprouts in the Xacuti Shobzi but they are delicious. The service is really welcoming and friendly, great location with views of the river and really reasonable prices. Every time we visit we have such a great and relaxing experience and instead of being faux Indian it is a real celebration of what Bangladesh has to offer.

Excellent meal with family! Been before and always find the standard to be high. Small restaurant with lovely helpful staff. Great value for money! On the waterfront at Littlehampton. Will definitely be back next time I am down south!!

I have been to this restaurant before, and it was OK. Last night, my food was pretty poor ... a way overcooked tandoori mixed grill, and a chapati that looked more like a Chinese accompaniment to Peking Duck. After 25 years in Bradford, considered to be the Curry Capital of Europe, and visits to India, I consider myself to be pretty au fait with what is good and what is not, in Asian Cuisine. The restaurant itself is not at all friendly to people with walking disabilities, neither are the toilet facilities. It is a shame, because the location is prime. It might be my imagination, but there appears to be a lot less room between tables and chairs ...I had a party of three other people, and all but one had difficulty getting seated.Be warned ...In contrast, my wife had a salad which, she said, was excellent ....

We could not fault our meal or service here. Would definitely go back if we lived nearer. A very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Ours was a latish Friday night dinner following recommendation by our hosts around the corner at the Regency Rooms ... what a great tip, for which we were so grateful. We were ably looked after by Noonoo and his cheerful staff. Like most readers, we are no strangers to curry evenings in England, but Raj Doot's menu has so many new and interesting dishes it proved quite a revelation.I had tandoori paneer, followed by Xacuti chicken and lemon rice. The chicken was so tasty, saucy and full of spicy flavour I was practically licking the plate. I've never thought of adding lemon peel to rice but it works beautifully! My husband had a Dhansak dish and chapati, with okra/bhindi, saag paneer and niramish on the side. There wasn't much left!We had G&T, beer and a lovely nightcap before returning the 150 yards to our comfy bed. At 1045hrs, they were thinking of winding down too - no late night curry brawling in genteel Littlehampton :-)Cards are accepted. For £52, this was excellent value and a really fun and memorable meal at a family run-restaurant managed with great care. Highly recommended.

We're becoming very keen on the Raj Doot. After two visits (our most recent on 09.Apr.15) we have been very impressed with all aspects of this restaurant. The food is of the highest quality - it is clearly prepared with great care & this shows in the superb flavours in all the dishes & accompaniments we have tried. The service is excellent - the owner & staff are all friendly & above all, happy. I get the strong impression that the owner (Nanoo?) really enjoys running the Raj Doot & it was amusing to hear him joking with a couple of regular customers that it was more expensive to sit near the window :-) . The atmosphere is very happy & easygoing & we always felt at ease. The owner & staff manage to maintain this lovely atmosphere whilst remaining fully focussed on fine food & excellent customer service (not forgetting great value for money). We are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended.

I come here with my family regularly and its the best Indian Restaurant I have been to for service and excellent tasting food. My children love it too and the owner is very accommodating and freindly when we come and we always have a great meal here. Its very good value for money and easy to get to right by the river in Littlehampton. I highly recommend Raj Doot if you want a great meal with a friendly service.

First of all I'm a lover of Indian cuisine so I have my favourites bet every few months I order from others to see if it's any better. We ordered a takeaway and it was a let down my dansak dish had far too many lentils. I know dansak has lentils but this was far too many. They were also quite hard I prefer the lentils to be cooked so they absorbed into the thick sauce. However the rice was ok but for me the curry itself needs to be the best thing on the plate.

Great delivery time, they knocked 20 mins off the original quoted hour, but the food was undercooked. I had Rajah prawns and a chicken tikka curry. Both meats were very undercooked without a spec of char on either? What is the point of a tandoor. I had to take the chicken out and cook it some more to make it edible. The rice was hard. I won't be going back.

After suffering the disappointment of the take aways in Chichester I decided to go here again, it had been a while since my last delivery from Habib but I seemed to remember it was good so thought I'd collect this time. Like I said the other establishments I will try with a classic dish to gauge them before ordering specialty dishes in the future , my usual is a dupiaza, the others I've tried have just tasted the same, I understand how the indian takeaway cooking is done to produce quick turnover but this double onion had a really nice tomato taste with a balance of spice and not like the base gravy filled ones from others. Will definitely be using this place from now on
