Harbour Lights in Arun

Excellent, well run mid price cafe/restaurant with lovely views and position on the river Arun.

Normally really good and lucky to get a table but today was very quiet, prawn and crayfish sandwhich had no filling or sauce, cold chips, prices now on the high side, I understand you pay for the setting but served just bread and butter not acceptable!!

I would like to agree with review below. Rude staff member has put us off coming back. Accused me of stealing in front of the whole cue and then when asked her colleague if I had paid. YES he has. No apologies just a sour looking face. Sorry would of been nice

Far too expensive for the amount of food that you get. £15 for one of the cheapest mains, £10 for a mini breakfast, £5 for one of the smallest bowl of chips that you have ever seen and nearly £3 for a pot of boiling water with a tea bag in Extremely disappointed. On the plus side, a nice view of the harbour.

Second time eating at The Harbour Lights and it did not disappoint. There was a 45 minute wait for food but this was clearly advertised and it was a busy day so we didn’t mind. Our group had a few different dietary requirements (veggie and gluten free) and everyone had a good range of suitable options to choose from. The food was really good and the portion sizes were very fair, especially given that a main will set you back around £16/17. All in all, this is one of my favourite places to eat when visiting Littlehampton, and I’d definitely recommend a trip.

We love this place. Always consistent. Good food at a reasonable price. Lovely views if you get to sit outside. Friendly staff.

Went with our kids They liked the ice cream and looking at the boats, also the lifeboats are usually open and on display when we go which kids like too

Am always wary of a place that has a lot of staff but they all seem to be doing the mundane jobs that are normally done when a restaurant is quiet instead of serving the long line of waiting customers. One member of staff who was lovely took our order while the others blanked everyone. I had the seafood box and was disappointed. The prawns were like rubber, 4 tiny pieces of squid, two small pieces of cod and an abundance of whitebait which wasn’t cooked to my taste but that was just my preference. When we finished we said we’d have ice cream - went to order and was given a less than enthusiastic response of “we close at 6” - it was 5.45 and the counter of ice cream was right there. Plus there didn’t seem to be an issue with the (judging by the conversation) regular customer served ice cream before me. It takes two minutes to scoop. Attitude of that staff member was apparent the second I joined the queue to order our mains. Someone needs some customer service training. Wouldn’t return.

Had the slow braised beef &ale cottage pie with creamy mash potato and cheddar cheese with buttered seasonal vegetables! So tasty! It’s in Littlehampton by the river.. been here twice now. Lovely views good atmosphere and friendly staff.. can’t ask for more! Shame I ate it all as there is no photo of it! 🤦‍♀️

Tasty, reasonably priced lunch. Very busy but got a great table overlooking the harbour. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will def visit again.

Extremely long wait to order despite it not being that busy (loads of empty tables). As another reviewer has said, the lady taking the orders was quite abrupt and could not accommodate any minor additions or changes as she said the chef wouldn't manage it. Food was average, and the fishfinger sandwich was extremely dry and had very few fish fingers in it which was very disappointing for £13 and a 45 minute wait. Coleslaw was nice, burgers were ok apparently but nothing to write home about. A shame as we were really looking forward to our lunch here having read the reviews.

We had a lovely family meal here. The food was delicious and presented well. We will definitely be back to visit in warmer weather.

Warm, comfortable with great views. We were going to eat there but the price of £15 for a sandwich and chips put us off. We stuck to coffee, which was very good - but then moved on to somewhere a bit cheaper.

The staff is very friendly and helpful always smiling outstanding service. I never had any problems with the food the food is 1st class. I like to say a big thank you to chef and team.

If you order coffee and cake don’t expect one of the numerous staff standing around to bring it over when it’s ready. We asked if we should take a seat whilst it was being prepared and were rudely told ‘no, wait and take it yourself’ despite there being staff standing around just looking at us with nothing else to do.

It's my favourite place to go on the riverfront in Littlehampton. Great staff, clean restaurant, great views, atmosphere, comfy seating, and good food. Enjoyed a meet-up with friends, who'd not been before. They enjoyed it too and will return. We all had drinks and lunch, with huge sandwiches, with crisps and salad on the side. Food is always great quality and freshly prepared. From snacks to a full meal, there's something for everyone. Becky, the manager, and her team do a great job. Always good service with a smile. Evening meals are good too, especially on a sunset evening. Highly recommend Harbour Lights. ☆☆☆☆☆♡♡♡♡♡

We had a long walk and stopped for lunch and were delighted with the seafood box which was a mix of different seafoods and served with chips.

Just went for a coffee which was nice enough just not hot enough. Lovely view along the harbour

Really well situated, with fab view and slightly upmarket- so no drunks! But, as usual a LONG wait in queue. (There's always a queue...regardless of plenty staff? Why?) Get that second till operational for drinks and ice cream...ALWAYS... It doesn't take much. And get one person clearing in busy times. (When delivering an order, CLEAR a table...doesn't take too much to work that out.) Manager possibly needs some logistics training.

The coffee is very weak! The cappuccino was more like drinking Horlicks. Such a shame as it’s a lovely dog friendly place. Get better coffee please!

Great location overlooking the River. Lots of outside seating and friendly staff. Coffee ok but I needed an extra shot.

Bigger and glitzier than the original restaurant in the building. Pleasant enough for a seaside eateries but I still hanker for the old Harbour Lights food, atmosphere and service.

Visited in the summer looking forward for a great English breakfast. Good options but very disappointed when ordering for the family. The lady taking the orders got cross with me because I requested minor changes to the order such a replacing the sausage with something else. She bluntly claimed that my order will confuse the chef. I guess as they say, there is a first time for everything, since I had never experienced such a comment from a business serving a customer. Hope they realise that customers are needed to run the business. Glad to say that we will not be visiting this place again.

Lovely place, went there as we read it catered for plant based and gf diets however, I soon discovered they had a few options of each but not both so had an oat cappuccino and their chunky fries. A lovely place, really helpful staff and reasonably priced.

Food is really well prepared using good quality ingredients. The restaurant is accessible to less mobile customers. The morning atmosphere and views were lovely. There is something for all ages and appetites. We will return.

A nice modern airy restraunt/cafe. Very popular locatiin on the river. Nice outdoor seating when warm or if you wrap up. Good choice of food from breakfast to Lunch. Nice coffees and teas. Great place for a rest on an Autumn river walk.

Has that newish building ambience but the food and service more than make up for this. Well worth a visit if you go to Littlehampton

This is our go to place in Littlehampton. There is a nice view over the river. Good food, with a lot of options. Great ice cream. And it is a good place for large or small groups of people.

Harbour Lights Cafe and staff have a fantastic reputation for being the best and they truly are We received a wonderful welcome, orders taken straight away and we sat at the window seat looking over the Harbour Our breakfast was brought to us on a hot plate and it looked wonderful. The sausages were excellent (not the catering rubbish) and as for the bacon - heavenly. The cafe is always clean. as are the toilet facilities It is such a pleasure to visit the cafe. Looking forward to returning soon 😀

Great view. Good coffee. Did not eat but an interesting daily menu including the most reasonably priced Dover sole I've see for a long time.

We are not local but when down this way we always call in for a meal. Whats not to like. Great, hot, tasty food. Helpful and friendly staff. Always appears clean and a lovely location. Keep the standards up and we will continue to return.

I come here regularly and always get consistent and good service with high quality food. I had the big breakfast that comes with particularly tasty and well-cooked sausages/bacon. The portions are generous with a quick service delivering food to your table. On fair days, it is lovely to sit outside with my dog in the sun with views along the Arun river out to sea. There is a public car park a short walk away (£1.65 per hour). If you feel like being decadent then they serve fantastic scoops of ice cream which goes well accompanied by a large espresso. Risking being politically incorrect, they also have some charming (and very attractive) young ladies always present serving at the desk. What more could an old man ask for! One suggestion for further improvement, lets have sour dough toast as standard with the fry-up?

So goid we went twice !!! Blueberry Bakewell...... I want the recioe..... and had scampi and chips, we were tired and had as take out.... it was outstanding, tasty scampi utterly gorgeous chips , salad was gorgeous, will be back wish we'd are in. Loved it, totally lived it..... oh forgot to say hot chocolate a huge thumbs up, thank you

Had a cake and a coffee, bit expensive but worth it.

The ambience of this cafe is beautiful. A lovely, friendly service and truly amazing, very tasty roast dinner, finished off with a delicious chocolate dessert. The perfect evening out. Would highly recommend 👌🏻

I’m really disappointed they have started playing modern chart music at an annoying and intrusive volume. Won’t be visiting again until they stop doing that! Such a shame!

There is much food to choose from, if you just want a snack or a full meal. 4 of us were eating all plates clear at the end. Lovely views.

Terrible service, went here had 3 harbour master burgers and a big breakfast, had 2 plates arrived harbour master burgers, we waited for the other 2 plates, they came over with a big breakfast which had scrambled egg and no hash brown, which I ordered the hash brown as a add on, then the 3rd harbour master burgers came over, which was a sandwich, I told them to take the big breakfast back and the sandwich as that's not what we ordered, I showed the receipt to prove it, so I told the other guess to eat there food as it was going to go cold, after 20 mins our plates come out, the harbour master burgers came out fine with nothing missing, my big breakfast came out with one sausage missing and they brung out a separate plate with my hash brown which i order as a add on, its like they forgot it, i wont be returning as there was no apology from the staff, the place is a joke rude staff

Harbour Lights is a great place for lunch. Ideally situated on the ground floor of the Look and Sea centre building with a clear view of the river estuary and the lifeboat station ramp. Deservedly popular and with plenty of seats available inside and out. An extensive menu and specials board. I had the hot and spicy salmon and prawn skewer from the specials with a very fresh salad and fries and a Moretti beer. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. And I spent less than £22 for a really good lunch.

Delicious fresh food. Scrambled eggs that were soft and moist, and bacon that is quality. Reasonable prices and a great view too

After much deliberating we went here for breakfast yesterday for my birthday (50th), service was excellent, polite and efficient, took our order with small adjustments to what the menu says. Food arrived in good time allowing for being freshly cooked. I had bigger breakfast with black pudding (triangular which I've never seen before) whilst it was not the cheapest you can get it was definitely worth the cost. Very pleased, couldn't find fault, does get quite busy but there is plenty of room. Will definitely return. Regards Jason moore

We came once for breakfast which was really good, sausages on the breakfast were yummy really good quality, only minor thing I would change is that the toast that came with the breakfasts was already buttered but would've preferred to have butter portions provided so we could have the option of if we wanted it buttered or not. Service was also friendly and quick even though it was busy in the morning. However when we came back in the evening for a drink the service was completely different seemed like the staff working behind the counter just couldn't be bothered and didn't want to be there, it was very quiet there was only one customer infront of me who was taking a very long time to order and one of the members of staff was standing at the other till just on their phone when they could've offered to take my order as they could see the person in front was taking a long time to order, was stood there for 20 minutes.

This is a fantastic place to eat and enjoy the river views, the food is always great, the staff are friendly and are always kept clean and tidy, would recommend to anyone 👌

Been here lots of times for coffee / cake / lunch. The food has always been nice and the cakes are yummy too. It gets very busy, meaning you can sometimes have to wait a while to be served or get food. Lovely location with plenty of outside tables too.

Lovely cafe in Little Hampton! We popped in here while we were visiting the Beach, Thankfully it wasn’t too busy and we were able to get a table outside. You pick your menus and cutlery on the side and then order your food and drink at the counter. The menu has an amazing selection, we went for the big breakfast & veggie breakfast. The food came very quickly and was perfectly done, it definitely hit the spot in the morning. We will be visit again to try more of the menu and enjoy the beautiful view!

When you order 4 meals you expect them to be served together. Our came out 10 mins apart. Also, don’t go for the seafood box, everything in it was so over cooked it was like chewing rubber! Very expensive too.

Lovely clean cafe with plenty of space, inside & out. Easy access for wheelchair users. Coffee was on the too cool side, but the food was lovely. Get the coffee hotter & it would be perfect.

Great value n v nice food and do nice to sit and relax watching boats cruise up and down the river Arun.

We only had sandwiches but they were good. We did have to send a pot of tea back but other than that it was ok. The specials board looked good.

Monday evening meal for the family so not a busy night. Food was excellent as was the service and such lovely views.

Visited as an impromptu lunch, first time although lived in area many years. Lunch by the river was a very pleasant experience. Food was amazing, with food quality ingredients and good portion size. Although food made to order there was hardly any wait despite the amount of customers. Would definitely recommend and will definitely re return.

A very well presented cafe , but service at the till very slow . The cappuccino I had was tepid ,should have returned it , but as other reviewers have said , queues !
