Our family came here to stay for one night as we was attending my cousins wedding on the 08,11,24 , We had 2 rooms between 4 of us on the top floor as my mum is elderly they had a spare room available so they gave it her to make it easy for her that thought alone was ment alot to us , The wedding venue was amazing lovely service, and the reception was out of this world the buffet brilliant, we had a starter in the bar beforehand food was amazing, loved the menu but as we knew there was a buffet we didn't want to get full , Rooms very clean shame we was only there for one night I'd loved to stayed here for at least another night, Breakfast was nice All staff was very helpful and friendly couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome

We booked The White Swan last minute, to attend a wedding in the area. We booked two rooms as a family. Check in and the greeting we received on arrival was extremely friendly and efficient, which sums up the service we received during our stay. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and well furnished. The breakfast choice was good and the cooked breakfast was lovely. This place is not our usual choice but we could not fault our stay. I left an item in our room by mistake which appeared in the post two days later. We will definitely return and explore the area.

We came here for some lunch as it's local and have been considering locations for Christmas day lunch. So this was a trial to see what the quality of the food was like and the ambience. First impressions of the interior is that it's a bit tired and in need of modernisation (personal opinion obviously). We were shown our table which was by the door and they had the door open so it was a bit chilly. We asked to move but the barmen didn't seem bothered and offered no form of customer service. Once we did eventually find a table, we were greeted by a waiter who was quite simply brilliant in his customer service and professionalism. We ordered various meals from the menu and the general opinion was that everything lacked any real depth of flavour and certainly didn't justify the pricing points they are charging. Unless there is improvement we won't be visiting again, which is a shame because it's a great location.

A very bizarre visit! .....but in a good way. On arrival we were greeted with the most unusual welcome (maybe not so in the land of the french..... apologies if you weren't actually french mate but for the purpose of this tale, you were). A gentleman behind the bar asked if we had booked, we hadn't, unknowingly had done but for the wrong day, but then only to be told in no uncertain terms that we hadn't by our french waiter as though it was a formality & we must be on our way, that or we just completely disrupted his busy night of 3 tables to cover in what was quite a substantially large surrounding. The joke between us & the barman, pushed this awkward abruptness to one side, by having a joke about the fact that seating us wouldn't be a problem either way! On being seated, in what was quite a quaint, tidy & well lit atmosphere, I visited the bar to buy the first round of drinks to be told that they would be delivered to our table. Very nice. We were then approached by our friend who had now snapped out of his bolshie mood & turned out to actually have a personality that matched the beautiful character of the pub. As an avid IPA connoisseur the beers on offer matched the exquisite food. My wife and I, celebrating an anniversary, enjoyed the Rump Steak, that was literally melt in the mouth gorgeous & accompanied by two of the most delicious sauces that I've ever had the pleasure of drizzling over some meat. A nod to the chef on the accomplishment of making the mushroom the standout item on a plate full of showstoppers! Hugely memorable evening, from a shaky start, where I even contemplated leaving before we sat to a finish where I cannot wait for our next visit! Best meal, service & setting we've experienced in a long while. Truly delicious food!

We stopped off here for a Sunday carvery...We asked for a table, was going to sit outside , but in the end was offered a table just in front of the bar , so we accepted that as it was getting a little chilly outside. We were at the bar and asked for our drinks, and were told they would be brought over. When the drinks arrived we ordered the carvery, were given our tickets, and we went and got our food, as you do with a carvery. After eating, we went to the bar to pay, and duly did so..... I asked my husband how much it came to, and was very supposed to have been charged 10% service..... Personally, I feel there really isnt a service when you have a carvery meal, and do feel we should have had the opportunity to choose to tip or not.... I have no complaints about the staff, they were friendly, and welcoming.... but 10% service tip on and already fairly hefty carvery cost was a bit cheeky...

It was fine, but I felt there were a few things that could have been improved: There was a power outage, organised by the National Grid to lay new copper. We weren't given much notice about it happening, and there wasn't any compensation for the 2 hours of darkness and no electricity. We were offered booking taxis or organising another hotel, but after working all day I didn't really have the energy to want to go anywhere. The invoice is weirdly complex; the billed items and payments are laid out in a convoluted way; explaining what my company is paying for in expenses vs what they're not reimbursing is going to be a headache. The rooms are nice, but it's more like a pub with rooms attached - it's not a bad vibe in the pub or anything, but walking through it in my bedtime comfies for a smoke made me feel a bit out of place. The surrounding area is pretty stunning; go out for walks out the back of the hotel; ignore the road out the front, the back a really nice walk to Arundel. Breakfast was good - I feel like the only improvement to that would be pancakes with yoghurt and fruit instead of two options with pancakes and maple syrup. Overall I'd stay here again, but I've not left thinking it'll be my go-to for my frequent trips over there.

This has kerb appeal and the inside is as attractive as the outside. We were seated quickly and staff and service faultless. It wasn't busy so can't comment on service on a busy evening and I can see this could get very busy. Clean and smart the tables are evenly spaced with ample room between them to offer a cosy atmosphere for a couple of small group. Where this location loses stars for me is value. Prices start at high teens and average over 20. £20 currently for pie and mash was a bit high. The pie was a 'propper' one with base and sides and full to the brim with good filling. Pastry was home made and flavoursome. The mash was a little bland the serving small. A spoonful of cabbage and a typically 'bisto' style gravy, which has a distinctive consistancy. I understand the issues for the hospitality trade in these difficult times but at premium pub prices you expect something more than home cooking. Other than that it's a super place with good staff and service.

Been coming here every February for a dinner for 40-50 people and the good news is that the food has gotten better. But the room is just cold atmospherically and dull and with a bit of effort could be a warm space where you could converse with your neighbour without resorting to shouting. A shame as the staff are enthusiastic although lead by a clown of a manager. On a cold, wet, rainy night in February, there needs to be more lighting and signage to warn guests that they are approaching an entrance. It’s just a tad dangerous on a fast A27. Needs some caring management input and TLC.

Extremely disappointed 😞. I booked 2 rooms for me my wife and I. The receptionist Karen was efficiency personified. The Bar Staff Amy & Joshua were brilliant. Now the BAD PART. The food. My wife ordered a Filo Pastry vegetarian Pie. Complete CRAP dripping in oil. I then had to sit on my own after she stormed off to bed. Not amused. Staff excellent. Rooms impeccable. Chef??? CRAP

The whole place is tired, clean enough but is looking very jaded. Service was very friendly and efficient and food was ok, the prices are above where they should be for the dining environment. I am not sure I will visit again until the place has a full make-over

Went for lunch only. Overall food was goo, apart from chips. Gravy was outstanding! The server however was rather abrupt. Not customer friendly whatsoever. Pity though, as I think it a great place for lunch.

In some ways we have no one to blame but ourselves as we left if too late to book Christmas lunch and The White Swan was the only option on the table. We booked with trepidation, as we had never eaten at the hotel before, and having spent the last few Christmas days at The Swan Hotel in Arundel town, where the food has always been fantastic. we new that any restaurant would have a tough job living up to the benchmark set Sadly The White Swan fell miserably short of our most pessimistic expectations and was probably one of the worst meals I’ve ever had, and I’m saying that whilst ignoring the fact that I have been suffering with a bad stomach since about 3 hours after we left the hotel. The starters were mediocre and everyone of us that had some form of bread of toast with our entree had to endure it being stale. The bread rolls were stale too and the butter was so soft it just fell off the knife, both had clearly been out since start of service and a 3pm when we sat down were well past their best. The mains were unbelievably poor. Turkey was rubber and looked like it had been bought in pre-sliced, the trout so over cooked it was like mush and the “jus” served with the chewy over cooked beef, again looked pre sliced, was so incredibly salty and with everything absolutely soaked in it there was no escape to eat around it. The potatoes were rock hard and cold in the middle and the Yorkshire pudding was more like wilted spinach it was that soft as had clearly been out for so long. Every single one of us (6 in total) left our mains and were were not the only ones looking around. Sadly we weren’t asked how the meal was as despite being asked not to cause a scene I was not going to refuse a reply to that question if asked. Luckily I wasn’t. Deserts were fine but then how hard is Xmas pudding and cheese board…. However we were then told that coffee was a supplement…… on an £80pp meal coffee was a supplement?? Never in my life have I heard such nonsense. Sadly the food was also paid upfront, probably due to the fact they knew many would have refused, and once again I was asked not to create so I didn’t so I just paid the drinks bill and we left. I have to say the staff that looked after us were lovely and I left them a tip as they did work hard but the management and chef need to take a serious reality check at the quality of the food they are putting out. There is no way anyone tasted that caramelised salty tar they served all over the beef meal. And before people reply to this re wire saying I don’t know how hard it is to work Xmas day and cater for that many people I am a trained chef and ran pubs and always worked Xmas day and would never have let any of the team serve any of that food yesterday. Xmas day is about making the experience memorable and quality is key to that. Our meal was memorable and sadly not easily forgotten. Last point, and this may come across as petty, but given where this restaurant is situated it was very surprising, the Hotel does not have a great selection of alcohol free beverages. Christmas Day and no alcohol free fizz? No alcohol free wine or any other fake spirits. The only option was Heineken zero. I think that was very poor for a hotel that you have to drive to and being honest in this day and age is incredibly non inclusive. Safe to say we will not be returning and I do plan to email to management to request a refund.

Wow! On Christmas Eve we were en route to family. A 5-hour journey needs a lunch break so we stopped at the White Swan. I cannot recommend them highly enough! The carvery is such great value and great quality! The staff are delightful - from the lady who greeted us on arrival, to the chef who cut our carvery meat, just wow! Highly, highly recommended.

We've driven past here many, many times en route to Ferring from Oxford. Needing a meal on this occasion we decided to stop here as the reviews were pretty good. Parking was plentiful and easy. We were warmly welcomed at the bar and shown where to sit. Someone came soon after to take our drinks order and we ordered our meals. Great care was taken with a food allergy for one of us, for which we were grateful. The food was fine, but we felt it was very expensive for food that whilst tasty enough, was not spectacular. We don't think we'll stop off again on our regular trips along the A27, sorry.

Recently had a 3 night stay at this hotel, the first day being a Sunday; and we were both looking forward to sampling your Sunday Roast Carvery. And, having looked at the menu prior to booking would have been happy to eat at the hotel on another night of our stay. So, the good points about our stay: Great parking facilities Very polite and helpful staff Nice comfortable bedroom with adequate facilities, very clean, and quiet. Hotel in a good location and within walking distance of Arundel (although not good when it’s dark). Decent breakfast. Now, the bad point: On our first night we sat down for our evening meal at around 6.30pm and as mentioned wanted to take advantage of the carvery. However, the restaurant/bar was not busy and the carvery bar was empty. We asked if the carvery was still on and were told that it was, but the meal would be ‘plated’ and in fact there was only some beef left. So, not a carvery then. I decided to go for the beef ‘carvery’ but my wife decided she’d go for the shoulder of lamb which would normally be £25. We also both chose a starter off the specials board which was garlic mushrooms on ciabatta and with a blue cheese sauce at a cost of £8.95 per person. So, the starter came, and although it was quite nice it was basically a half ciabatta with a few sliced mushrooms and a bit of sauce. The main problem was that the sauce had no blue cheese in it; indeed it didn’t taste of cheese at all, but more like a simple weak Hollandaise type sauce. When the waiter/barman collected the plates I mentioned this and he said he’d take it up with the chef. When he returned he told us that the chef ‘thought’ he’d put blue cheese in it. End of. So, we were not at all impressed. When the main dish was served we both eat it. However although my beef dinner was okay it was quite obvious that the vegetables, particularly the broccoli must have been kept warm from earlier and had continued to cook as it had absolutely no taste. Likewise with the new potatoes that came with my wife’s lamb. They didn’t taste like potatoes at all having been so over cooked that they were almost translucent; and the lamb consisted of two small slices. Based on that meal we chose not to eat again in the evening at the restaurant during our stay. If other customers had a similar experience of your food on that day they won’t be coming back. Does this explain the lack of customers in the restaurant?

Very disappointing Sunday carvery. For the price, I would expect leg of pork, not shoulder, which was stringy ad grisly. Roast potatoes and Parsnips were undercooked. Not brown and crispy. White and mushy. The swede was watery. Gravy not good either. Very disappointing indeed. I will not be going again.

A very disappointing valentines meal. Greeted for our pre-odered 3 course meal by a rude hostess, we were the first to be seated in the restaurant for the night. 25 minuets later, our starter arrived before our drinks ( a complimentary glass of prosecco each and a bottle of tap water). Starters was very bland and the fried item were cold, even though we are one of three parties in the restaurant at this point. Luckily, our mains arrived promptly after our starter. Yet, this consisted of dry and bland chicken. When we finished, it took the staff about 30 minuets to clear our plates. We then continued to wait 20 extra minuets before we gave up waiting for our desert and had to ask 3 times for someone to grab the bill for us. During this time, we started talking to the couple sat next to us who seemed to be having similar issues. Overall, this was a very disappointing meal and no one single memeber of staff appologies for the poor servise.
