Bluebird Cafe in Arun

Visited on a recommendation - exactly what you'd want from a seaside cafe: location, view, decor and most importantly, good food.

Busiest place on earth, but service is always quick and food quality high

I made a on-line booking on 23.08.23 for 17.09.23 for 10.30am for 10 people to celebrate my Birthday. Confirmed it in person on 04.09.23 and on-line on 15.09.23 the table was only ready for 6 people. They rest had been given to another group who spoke to us and apologised and said as they knew the owner our table & given to them. My guests arrived and were left standing for 20 mins before they could be seated. The lady in charge said we had arrived early as our booking was for 11 am. In spite of confirmation in text to me. We have all said we will not go there again it was such an embarrassment & it spoilt my birthday celebration. We had to take back bread from a bacon sandwich that had green mould on it & we were given a refund for that sandwich. Another guest had solid lumps in his orange juice but by this time we just wanted to leave. I have frequented Bluebird Cafe over the years for coffees & snacks and have not had a problem but to have a meal there is a no no! From a Very, Very Disappointed customer and family .

We arrived for a reserved table and was told we would have to wait for the table to be wiped, in quite an officious manner despite plenty of other tables being free. I waited 10 minutes to order and no one apologised or seemed to be managing the queue. They were overwhelmed with the clients. Out of their depth and poorly trained. I will not be returning or recommending it.

Lovely location, lovely staff and lovely breakfast.

We are regulars for a reason, the food is great, the staff are fabulous. Even when it's super busy on a sunny day the staff are professional, friendly and warming. They cater for gluten free and prices are reasonable. The location is brilliant, it does get full up inside pretty quickly but there's plenty of outdoor seating (including covered outdoor seating).

Very good quality ingredients. Big portions. Quick service. Right on the beach. Friendly team. Dog friendly.

Lovely cafe and super dog friendly. Our three spaniels had a lovely time on the beach surrounded by well trained dogs and better still owners!!

Lovely lively place, has a real buzz.

Pet friendly cafe on the seafront with good sea views. Cafe has an additional outside service point for ordering takeaway rather than having to go inside the cafe and order. This is a busy busy cafe and can be very hectic! The service is quick though and the place is nice and clean despite the busy nature. There are baby seats available as well as external seating areas (and one tented seating area). It's a bit on the expensive side but prices are still very reasonable. Worth a visit and a pitstop to refuel and recharge.

Managed to get squeezed in at short notice - lovely staff and had two fabulous burgers! Your chips are awesome 👌

The location of this restaurant is perfect on the sea front away from other businesses. The food is not cheap but generally good quality. Ice cream is wonderful. The fish and chips are OK, not great, and not cheap.

Good breakfast options and really tasty. Book if you want to sit inside. Can be quite noisy inside, but good outside and covered options. Dogs welcome.

What a find ! Does simple food, but so well!. Crowded on a rainy Monday lunchtime in January, so the secret must be out!

Arrived for lunch but even though they were incredibly busy they were able to accommodate us, we had the catch of the day and it was perfect.

We were a group of 10 for lunch at the Blue Bird Cafe, without reservation we managed to get a table without problems. We enjoyed ourselves and had a pleasant time

Rude staff, average food but great location and nice atmosphere.

Really great coffee and nice cake. Had some fantastic scampian chips and a lovely salad here as well. Nice place to hang by the sea 🙂

Lovely cafe, best breakfasts in town

Walk with the dogs along the beach then headed here for lunch. Covered outdoor area, with heating under the tables. Service was quick, staff were lovely and accommodating, food was delicious.

I highly rate the Bluebird Cafe , the staff are friendly, polite and kind !!, the food is great as I te do to go for brunch with my daughters !.. Coffee is great !!, so I highly recommend it !!

I moved from London down to Goring just under two months ago and was recommended The Bluebird and very pleased I was! I've been there 4/5 times in the last month or so. I always have a mug of tea (£1.80) and one of their top drawer fried egg sandwiches (2 eggs) which comes with a lovely side salad to make it healthy 😁. I'm Coeliac so they serve it with gluten-free bread which they kindly toast at no extra charge. That is £4.20 which is terrific value! The staff are so friendly and helpful, really couldn't be nicer, special mention for Amanda, Nicky and Rachel. Highly recommended if you're visiting the área x.

Everyone who had monk fish said how tough it was, however the turkey looked absolutely amazing as did the desserts. Lovely staff with excellent service

Love this place which is beautifully situated right on the beach and brimful of fab friendly staff so we go there when we can Two visits ago I had ham eggs n chips and told all my foodie friends how good it was, with thick cut, off the bone style ham and chunky chips kinda disappointed that last week I asked for the same and got cheap ghastly squares of packet ham wafer thin and bland Lets hope theyd just run out of the good stuff

Excellent food and a very warm welcome doggies welcome

It's a hard to reach little place but once you get to the car park and you're on the beach in the summer then you're set for a day. It's a bit of a gem amongst the local and beach goers. I'll warn you now. Once summer hits then getting a bite to eat can be a very long process. Not a fault of Bluebird staff but just the volume of customers coming for the food and drinks. The car park isn't huge but the beach next door is wonderful and a stones throw away from Worthing and Littlehampton. Good job guys, keep it up

Really great seafront cafe. A hidden gem, obviously popular with local dog walkers and it was a full house on a Monday lunchtime. Service was fantastic and the food selection was spot on. Highly recommended 👍🏻

The BlueBird Cafe has a great range of food and drink options and the service is very efficient. We were seated and then eating and drinking in under 15 minutes. The staff were really friendly too.

It was very busy, hard to get a table but we did. The food was lovely, and the service was great considering how busy they were. we thought there would be a long wait, but there wasn't food was out in about 15 mins

Shame about the condescending and rude staff when there's a fault with your order as the food is wonderful.

It is a dog's Cafe. I could not relax. Barking and fighting. I left without ordering anything

I have eaten here a number of times. Today with friends we had a great value brunch with a glass of wine, which was lovely. I had booked a table in advance to ensure we could sit inside if the weather wasn't so good. The sun came out and it proved to be very busy outside, but sitting inside was pleasant and comfortable. Good food and good service as always, so well worth a visit.

Loved having a cuppa and a sandwich at this friendly beach cafe. Always good after a walk on the beach too. It's been a favourite for so many years and we get there as much as we can.

The location is terrific, the food is excellent, the service is consistently good and the value for money is difficult to fault. If you can find a daytime venue that suits you better..... great, I'll get served even quicker. }•>

Only recently found this place, right on the seafront, but away from the normal hustle and bustle. Good selection of food, and open longer hours than most.

The fish and chips there is stunning. They also have an assortment of pastries and cakes. The wait time isn’t too long and there is a lovely view of the sea from there. There are also many great walks to do from there.

I came out to lunch with two friends, one who lives locally, and was brought here for the first time. How fantastic to see it so busy, and what a treat to be beside the seaside (not been to any seaside for over 50 years!, being a city boy). Staff were fantastic and so welcoming, Amanda and all. Food was superb. My king prawn, chorizo and avocado salad was devine! Mug of tea, brilliant! Being able to smell the sea air was a unique experience and one I definitely won’t be waiting another 50 years for! A round trip of 120 will be worth it, and I’ll do it again on my own. Well done to the entire team and congratulations on great food, excellent service and a great atmosphere!! Long may you be blessed with many customers, health, wealth and happiness.

It's a very nice café right on the beach with decent food, but it gets very busy. I was lucky to get a table here for brunch so reservations are recommended. I had a small breakfast which was served with a big portion of chips. Inside it has very nice decor and good clean, toilets. There is also a takeaway hatch on the other side of the café.

What a lovely find. Really busy when we came on a hot bank holiday but nevertheless service was really speedy and with a smile. We had fish and chips again pretty damn good! We followed on with an ice cream cone yet again pdg.

If I could I would give no star at all. We ordered fish and chips to go. We got a buzzer and waited right outside the orders window. An hour later there was still nothing. We asked and it turns out our order was lost. Everything is fine, it can happen. But instead of apologizing and offering us compensation such as ice cream, a drink, etc., everyone just looked funny. As I said, we stood the whole time within sight of the staff we ordered from. While we waited we joked around in the kitchen and ate ice cream. Simply outrageous. Nothing special in terms of taste.

This place is truely special. You can't beat it's location on the beach and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. It's our favourite place. Thankyou Bluebird!

Super place right on the coast for breakfast and lunch. Simple fare but well cooked. Very busy so make sure you book, it will be worth it.

Can’t comment on the food but after a 45 minute walk specifically to go and eat there they were closed. Closing time states online and outside 8pm. We arrived at 6:45pm.

This Cafe is a little Gem of a place situated right on the Ferring coast line. If you know Ferring then you know about the Bluebird Cafe. Perfect for Dogs and people, fantastic people and superbly Efficient. Thank you.

I currently cannot eat carbs so instead of Fish and chips I ordered a small portion of fish, a beefburger (no bun) and salad. The burger was dry and overdone, the fish was about 3cm sq and salad consisted of 1 green leaf, 2 slices of tomato, a slice of gherkin and onion shaving. Expensive too. We had driven 15 miles for supper on the beach on a pleasant summer evening. Very disappointed. Lady who served us was lovely. We didn't complain at the time but on reflection should have.

We have been to this cafe a few times now and it's such a lovely place in a relaxing setting. The staff are really polite and friendly. Parking can be a bit of a pain as it gets full , but we have managed to get a space each visit (weekends).

Great cafe on a lovely beach. Watch the tides come and go. Enjoy the sky. We swim and read books all day fuelled by teas and Cheesy Chips from the cafe. They have a wide menu and great service. Quite busy at the Cafe sometimes but great. Park in the town and walk past the nice houses if the carparks too full.

Shocking customer service. Do not cater for people with allergies and nothing on there website to say they change the menu from 5:30pm onwards. I have an egg allergy and all they could offer was a goats cheese salad. We made a special trip for a family members birthday and it’s ruined the day. Won’t be coming again

If the queue is big, don't panic as the team are flippin efficient and rattle through taking orders! The car park is a little bit of a bun fight (in a nice way!), so if you can, bring a motorbike... 🤣🌞🏍 Update: they are still open, still happy, still good food, even on cold, windy "summer" days... upside of coming in bad weather is the car park and beach are empty! 🤣

A very busy place serving great food at pace. Had a lovely chilli prawn salad sitting outside in the sunshine.

We arrived on Saturday 10th August at about 3pm and ordered a drink and cake, didn't have too long to wait...but when the chap gave us our drinks he put his fingers all around the top of the mug.. perhaps a bit more training needed, .. hope this can be helpful...Jan.

Relatively long wait for food, but not unexpected given how busy it was. Lack of visible staff away from counters and tables weren't being cleared.

Excellent food and good value busy in the good weather

Great place, well run and proper service. At a time when it's too common to get rude, slow service at a venue Ike this - which could just rely on volume because of it's superb location - it's lovely to see the team make an effort, even when it's crazily busy and hot. Well done. Oh, and the food is top notch too.

Fab cafe on the beach. Lots of tables inside and out - many outside under shelter so out of the wind and rain and sunshine on a hot day. Bacon sandwich is lovely and good value. Also the sausage egg and bacon sandwich is only £1 more than the bacon sandwich so great value. Lovely back bacon in granary and hp sauce. Decent coffee and lots of staff serving so even though it was a very busy Saturday morning, we were served promptly and drinks and food didn't take long at all to arrive at our table. Definitely my favourite cafe in the area and large car park behind although we walked from goring which makes you feel like you've earnt a decent pit stop! If you're in the area, well worth the visit!

Don't think I've ever seen staff work so hard....the place is teeming. And they're just calmly serving everyone, inside and out. Great food, lovely beach. Nice clean loos. Excellent.

We visited Bluebird Cafe today and had a pleasant visit. We arrived at 10 45am (Friday) and although the car park is big it was almost full. (The car park is free and right next to the beach, behind the cafe). We booked our table which I'd recommend doing as it was quite full when we arrived and lots of tables were already reserved. The vegan options are great - I had the Vegan Brekkie (£12 approx) and a coffee with soya milk (additional 40p for dairy free milks). Lots of outdoor seating available. Staff were nice and the toilets were clean. I would have given a full five stars if they'd had dairy free ice cream options! There are ice lollies available, however. Good food, decent prices, free car park and a beautiful beach. Will definitely be coming back again soon.

Really lovely cafe with a great range of food and drink, right alongside the beach. Wonderful friendly service too - and very dog friendly with a range of dog treats on-sale alongside the human food. A nice touch. Recommended.

More to the cafe better lay out and good food lots to eat clean and tidy now lots of seats by the sea ferring .
