A great little gem in Littlehampton. The biggest piece of cod I've seen in a long while. I ate inside.

Very nice basic chippy, eat in or take away, plus a toilet. Really big cod and just enough chips, wedge of lemon and free condiments incl. Mayo and Ketchup Highly recommended especially on a rainy day Thanks 🙏🏻

If I could give more stars I would. They catered for our very large group (27 people) very well and they were extremely helpful in explain the allergen information & cooking process to ensure we don't cross contaminate. Food was delicious and all kept hot. Perfect sized portions as well! 10/10

Large fish, a specific portion and tasty - that's a plus, but unfortunately "due to smaller staff" we didn't get anything to eat inside, even though there were dirty dishes and plates on the table nearby, and we also got a small wooden fork instead of a dish, which was a challenge. in eating fish. The toilet is clean inside

Usually my goto fish and chips but it's gone right down hill. My large cod was a small chips were cheewy and obviously old...Baked Savaloy.... A real shame Update I did phone them and was offered my money back

Cracking food, had large haddock and chips. Absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend. My only criticism was we ate in and the table wobbled whilst I ate.

The best fish I've had for a long time ,the batter is world class and the portions are big ,very friendly lady that served me with a smile ,can't fault this establishment.

Unfortunately the worst chips and sausages I've had. Greasy soggy chips , crunchy savaloy and soggy battered sausage.

The staff were lovely and I must say the portions were very good and you get a lot for your money, however, sadly, what we got just wasn’t very good. Probably the worst fish and chips we’ve had ☹️ The batter on the fish was anaemic, soggy and undercooked. The fish tasted like fish-past-it’s-best smells - a strong fishy taste, but not in a good way. The chips were soggy and tasted like old cooking oil and the mushy peas were weirdly just very watery and runny. Maybe just a one off bad experience as all the other reviews seemed so good. Again, a lot of food for the money and lovely staff, but I wouldn’t go back based on the meal we had. Hope they can improve 🙂

Great place and value for money

Orded fish and chips for takeout. Loooooved the food, fish was fresh and delicious, chips were plentiful and soft and nicely cooked. Happy with our order, couldn't ask for more!

I was barely acknowledged when I ordered, one piece of fish was half the size of the other and neither piece tasted great.

Thoroughly disappointed! Usually come to this chippy all the time and enjoy the good food and service! Today was given the wrong order and then to go back and be told that they wouldn't change it even though they were in the wrong. Unfortunately due to this we won't be coming back hope people enjoy cod bites not cod cos thats what you will get if your not careful!

We had checked the reviews before visiting and most reviews seemed to be good, however... it was not the friendliest of welcomes by the 2 brooding cooks behind the counter! We ordered huss and chips. The huss was fantastic, freshly cooked and the batter was crunchy... however, the chips were VERY cold, soggy and undercooked... Ended up having to throw the chips away... Very disappointing 😞

Maybe it's very good if it's freshly fried. Unfortunately it wasn't! Soft fries, soft fish for £9. Sorry, but even at Witherspoon's fish and chips were better and cheaper.

Chips are soft and uncooked. Burger was dry and not really tasty, that was not really good. Didn't try the fish.

After a walk on West Beach with our dog we always drive over the river for our fish and chips. Today’s lunch did not disappoint. The fish was freshly cooked and piping hot. The chips were delicious too. Generous portions that we couldn’t finish even with the dogs help. Thank you

Not sure what happened here. Checked the reviews before & they seemed to give it a fair rating. A dour look greeted us as we arrived explaining we were hoping to enjoy our choice of venue. No hello, no welcome, def no smile. The silence, apart from the shrill noise emitting from the transistor radio, was deafening. We ordered & I asked for a receipt but got one which did not list our orders. My dish arrived minus the saveloy. DD noted her hot chocolate tasted like hot milk & she wasn’t sure what the other ingredient was but she was sure it wasn’t chocolate. The fish was soggy beneath the batter. Not moist or succulent, just wet. Maybe rename the place as ‘The Plaice with no smiles?’🥲 It was Mother’s Day & maybe our expectations were elevated & unrealistic. Sad Mum.😭

The fish was definitely not fresh - it had the texture of fish that's been cooked from frozen, and it was tasteless. The chips were very tough and hard to bite through. The overwhelming taste was of the oil, which was unpleasant. A huge disappointment - worst fish and chips I've ever had, and particularly disappointing as we were in a seaside resort, where standards are normally high.

I only buy chips here They are always great.

We ended up here as a last resort and I honestly which I just made to the decision to come here first of all. Open despite the weather which was great to see because all fish and chip shops by the harbour had decided to close. Our unenthusiastic friend behind the counter took our order and we sat down to wait. Little did I know that despite being a man of little words or a smile that he was a master chef when it comes to battered fish, it was lovely.

Fish & chips are very good and fresh. Lovely lady cooking the orders. Basic seating but we've eaten in several times now. Normally people queueing outside for takeaway orders. Definitely one to visit.

Had a meal for 3 Children, & 4 Adults here the food is excellent also at a very reasonable price I would recommend that you try it.

Kids had fish and chips but the big disappointment was rather fact that it said online that they do Gluten free options it was obviously not from his response. Falsely advertised on Google

Great service, very friendly, smashing fish and chips

To be honest the food was ok to nice however. Unfortunately last night was the most rude , unappreciative Asian man serving. He couldn't even say please or thank you. Usually there is a lady who serves and is very nice but the owners are very rude and there plenty of other chip shops in Littlehampton I would advise you use them as they actually grateful of your business.

If you are looking for a delicious British classic then I highly recommend this place. The size of the cod is huge and the chips are just perfect. Thank to the same person who let us dine even or wasn't time yet. If you're in Littlehampton try this place and you won't be disappointed. Take away is cheaper

Keep visiting this amazingly simple place whenever we are in the area. Freshly cooked cod and chips and the menu is not pricey. Consistently brilliant.

Average fish and chips. Chips were decent although not the biggest portion. Fish was really greasy though with the paper absolutely soaked.

Travelled 8.5miles round-trip to try this Fish & Chip shop as open on a Sunday (29th May 2022) and the local one in Yapton is not. Arrived early in lunchtime session. No other customers were present. Order was taken and paid for to the man on the fryer; a much more friendly woman server appeared a minute or so after who checked with me that I had paid and advised there would be a wait of around 6 minutes, which I had no problem with as obviously they were cooking fresh to my order. My order was carefully packed by the woman server, with the large cod wrapped separately (and it was impressively large) before being passed to me. As I placed this into my bag she kindly made sure I took my receipt. Having made the 4.25miles journey back home, it was disappointing to find the Kids Fish Cake Meal was missing its chips and drink, plus then upon checking the receipt to find it had been charged for at £4.50 when advertised on the in-shop board at £3.90. Obviously too far to go back without ruining the meal for all four of us, so got around the missing items using chips from the other three meals and a drink from home but naturally disappointing finding items were missing and that I had been charged more than advertised; at £4.50 it is the most expensive Kids (or even adults) Fish Cake I am ever likely to buy! Was also disappointed to find skin on the cod; haven't experienced that since the 80's but with hindsight I understand from another review customers can request to have skinless fish, although I thought this had become the norm in these last three decades, so got disappointingly caught out with this too. Overall, unlikely I will revisit and putting it down to a failed experiment.

Always loved this fish and cip shop absolutely rave about them to everyone but tonight what a disappointment! Completely inedible the haddock was soaking in oil and it looked beautiful but was not drained properly, the chips were soggy and waxy not nice at all. Sort it out please beach road I don't eat from anywhere else.

Grabbed some fish and chips on the way to the seafront this evening (good Friday). Despite the queue being out the door and down the road once I got to the front of the queue my order was placed and dealt with in what felt like no time at all. Some customers were asking for skinless fish and children’s meals and this was no bother for the staff working. And despite how busy it was the fish was nice and fresh and didn’t taste too greasy. Well done all involved.

I wasn't sure about this place as first, as the gentleman serving us was very quiet serving us, so I was dubious about the place. Well my reservation was unfounded because the food was superb, the portion size, enormous for me, as I don't each much. Extremely good value for money, highly recommended this fish and chip shop

Normal okay but tonight 21 Dec 2021 the chips were horrendous, dry, probably warmed up several times. Will give this chippy a miss for awhile

Went there at around 10.30pm so only precooked foods available as they were going to close. Ordered fish and chips and on receiving it I found they had given me an additional large cod free of charge rather than it being wasted. The chips were not at their best having sat for some time but the fish was good.

fabulous fish and chips 15 min walk from sea front in my opinion best in town as i live locally curry sauce is great.

Just bought medium cod, battered sausage, small battered sausage chips and curry sauce. The chips were warm and shrivelled. The sausages were tasteless. The only good part was the steak and kidney pie. Sorry back to Oscars in future.

Been a year since we were able to visit and how we have missed it! Had some very unsatisfactory meals from chippy's in the local are area recently (not all - but some...), but today was a great day and we had a lovely meal from here around 7:30pm. Served by a really friendly and efficient lady and then presented with four really enjoyable meals, lots of sausages, lovely Cod, Chicken burger really nice and to top it off - our gherkin and peas/curry sauce were remembered! ( you'd be amazed how often these things are forgotten..). Best chippy meal for years - thank you.

Good portion of fried to order fish and chips.Hadock meaty and soft,Huss lovely portion of tasty fish.medium portion of fish was like a large elsewhere.Large chips does 3 good servings for 3 people.

Good food but quite a long wait, service seemed a bit slow.

I’ve just had cod and chips from this restaurant. Initially I was disappointed when I opened it up to see no salt and vinegar. I wasn’t asked and just accepted the meal assuming it would have been seasoned - partly my fault I accept! The worse thing about the meal was that it was swimming in oil. It was dripping out of the paper, my hands were soaking in oil. This really put me off and I was unable to finish the meal. The taste of the oil was also very unusual. I think this was possibly a one off as I’ve had good meals from here previously. I was really disappointed at my meal this evening and not sure I’d try the restaurant again.
